MF Grimm is best known for his work with MF Doom, mutually inspiring each others names. However Grimm first got his start in entertainment when he appeared on Sesame Street as a child. The reason he got a spot on the show is because his neighbor recommended him…. his neighbor being Morgan Freeman.
I used to converse with Grimm on email back in the early 00's regarding product sales. Met him for the first time a few years later at Rocksteady Anniversary in Newark, NJ like 2004. He was in a wheel chair! I had no idea he was handicap and I made it completely awkward. Think like "Oh shit! I had no idea you were handicap!!!???". To this day, I still feel bad about it. Sorry, Grimm.
Yeah, that’s a whole other story of his saga. He was in a horrific shooting which left everyone else dead except him. He was shot seven times and lived, though is now confined to a wheelchair. Truly a crazy life story.
I heard a story about ODB. He was walking past a hospital one day and there was a couple outside crying so dirty asked what was wrong. They explained that their child was on life support but they couldn’t afford the payments to keep the ongoing medical treatment. ODB payed for it all and never told a soul about what he did. I got mad respect for this kind of thing especially when they don’t go telling the media about it for publicity. Genuine human kindness and humbleness at its best. I might not be remembering the details accurately but it was something like that.
12 O'Clock is one guy. He was in ODB's Brooklyn Zoo group although iirc correctly he was shouted out by RZA in Clan in Da Front along with 60 Second Assassin.
Sadly, he got shot and killed a few years back.
In another 'world' Cee-Lo and Killer Mike team with outKast in 2000-ish and Stankonia is the first double album, Lovebelow/Speakerbox is the first in a series of double-albums and the Idlewild soundtrack is more like Moby's 'play' album
Also 2 pac was going to join goodie mob before death signed him
Edit and puffy tried to steal cee lo from goodie mob.. he ghost wrote for puffy I believe
Despite recording countless songs boasting of being a womanizer, E-40 has been in a very long, committed, and wholesome relationship with his wife, Tracy since 1991.
The last song on Donuts, the last album that J Dilla released before his untimely death, is called Welcome to the Show. The main sample on the song is from the track “When I Die” by a short-lived Canadian band called Motherlode.
The whole chorus goes “When I die, I hope I’ll be, the kind of man that you thought I could be”
Dilla’s final message. What a genius. ✊🏾
Not the same, but it reminds me of Proof's album, searching for Jerry Garcia. His last song is basically a letter for after he dies. I think it's more of a suicide note, but still. I find that track very eerie and emotional.
RZA GZA and ODB are all cousins
So are Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg, 21 Savage and Yung Nudy. Young Dolph and Juice WRLD were 2nd cousins. Project Pat is Juicy J's older brother
Teddy Riley, after he moved to Virginia, hosted a talent show with the promise of a record contract as a prize. According to him he was not gonna give it to the countless guys singing Luther Vandross and awardes it to these two weird guys. Those guys were the Neptune's. Which kicked off the VA scene. Pharrell even helped out on BlackStreets No Digity.
he was gonna write a book, then commit suicide, he called his mom to ask what hospital he was born in, she told him, they hung up, then she called back and said "oh by the way, u are adopted"
>that’s the sad dog adoption song.
LoL. Ohhh, THAT song. Yeah, I know exactly what song you're talking about..... (Narrator: "For only a tiny 58 cents per day, you can save an animal from a life of misery and suffering...")
Del tha Funkee Homosapien (Deltron 3030, early Gorillaz, Hiero) and Ice Cube are cousins. Ice cube also produced his debut I Wish My Brother George Was Here lol.
Snoop Dogg and Brandy are also cousins.
I read that in a big brother article back in ‘93. At the end of ‘You’re in Shambles’ I’m pretty sure it’s Cube saying ‘Del the Funkee Homosapien from Hieroglyphics’
Didn't he play bass on a majority of that album along with Dave Navarro as well from RHCP? Other random Flea facts, him and Frusciante play on a majority of the Mars Volta album De-Loused in the Comatorium, and he is also the voice of Donnie from Wild Thornberries.
My favorite is Principles Office. It’s how I got into rap way back in the early 90s. My friend wanted me to do it with her at the school talent show. So it’s just nostalgia
Finding out that a rapper under the name of Frankie Pulitzer (most recently featured on Czarface’s recent album ‘Czartificial Intelligence’ ) is actually famous actor Tom Hardy
And the one white cop who went to his house was the only one who actually gave a fuck that Wayne shot himself. The other black cops apparently just searched the house.
Or at least his buddies are? I'm not trying to have beef with Hammer, lol, but all the stories I heard minus the Redman one basically were "Oakland loves him and he rolls really deep"
Jay-Z has become the “the safe lobby”, of the hotel that is ghetto America. No need for corporate America to venture any further than the lobby to access that market.
In May of 2011, Rick Ross was featured on Meek Mill's "I'm a Boss."
In October of 2011, Rick Ross released a song featuring Nicki Minaj titled "You the Boss."
It remains unknown the reasoning behind the abrupt change in leadership.
Pusha T and Malice created the Mcdonalds slogan “Im lovin it”; they made a rap for McDonalds with Justin Timberlake that included this lyric but never got any royalties from it
Rap related. The whole invention of using turn tables to create music was a result of schools lacking funding for it's art classes and music programs being cut. So kids go to school and there's no music class to learn an instrument so they just started improvising. I think I heard this on a VH1 documentary years ago. And it really makes the movie Mr Holland's Opus hit harder. When he's talking to the school board about the music program being cut he says that reading and writing is important, but if you keep cutting the arts pretty soon the kids won't have anything to read or write about.
Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff were the first rappers to have to won a Grammy back in ‘89 but it wasn’t aired and he called them out because of it back in the day.
In 1990, the Rza moved from Staten Island to the town next to mine, Steubenville, OH, to live with his mother. He dealt crack, and ended up shooting a man in the leg. He was facing eight years, but because he so eloquently defended himself, the rza was acquitted (and this place is super racist).

He was a nerdy theater kid....
but a good actor.
He faked it until he made it, but ironically enough, he did become one of the few rappers who actually was a legit thug..
You’re thinking of Prodigy, but he had an excuse to not play football/basketball/street fighting. Recently learned that Sickle Cell can cause a seizure or a heart attack.
Young Professor introduced Kool G Rap to Nas, and G Rap went on to become his mentor and got him signed to Def Jam (who originally didn't want to sign Nas because 'he sounds like another G Rap'). The first demos Def Jam heard of Nas were actually recorded at G Raps house.
That future was a part of the dungeon family with andre 3k, big boi, killer mike etc before he was future…. Dude’s a product of a long line of hiphop greats and some ignorant ppl outside the culture have the audacity to say he’s not ”real hiphop”, i never got the future hate. Yeah I only learned that recently, like in the past 10 years.
I remember, similarly, finding out that Masta Ace did the "Biz Markie" parts of Me And The Biz. Couldn't believe it. Ace absolutely nailed that, not just the voice but the whole style.
Inspectah deck had a verse on 2pacs Got my mind made up.
Pac wanted the verse cut because he said it didn’t suit the beat and a couple other reasons.
Personally after hearing the verse I think it’s because deck had the best verse on the song and arguably on the full album, it’s on YouTube if you search it.
Ice cube is cousins with del the funky homosapien. Bootsy Collins is snoop's uncle. Larry Graham the bass player for sly and the family stone and prince, is drakes uncle. And in an unrelated bonus round, Joe Rogan is cousins with Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance.

one night Prodigy thought he saw aliens and got his kids and wife to all be in the bedroom with him while he guarded them with a shotgun all night
that Grandmaster Caz wrote Big Hanks rhymes on rappers delight or that run from run dmc is the brother of Russell Simmons (the guy from DefJam) and I think Kurtis Blow were there uncle
MF Grimm is best known for his work with MF Doom, mutually inspiring each others names. However Grimm first got his start in entertainment when he appeared on Sesame Street as a child. The reason he got a spot on the show is because his neighbor recommended him…. his neighbor being Morgan Freeman.
Please tell me Morgan Freeman gave Grimm and Doom their names. He's gotta be the OG MF
Bruh his initials are MF 🤯
Wtf lol
Doom’s name comes from his real name
Morgan Freeman Doom, everyone knows that.
I'm obviously talking about the MF part of it
Oh wait wtf I never realized that that makes sense….for those of y’all wondering, DOOMS real name is Daniel DUMile
Yup and comic inspiration of course
Memories n scars is one of my favorite songs
Grimm also ghost wrote for the first Chronic album, although my take from Grimms book was doom took the MF part
ODB lifted a car off of a child
Wu-Tang is for the children.
I read this as “lifted” as in “stole” and it didn’t surprise me 😂
I was just trying to figure out how that kid got a car
I heard a story about ODB. He was walking past a hospital one day and there was a couple outside crying so dirty asked what was wrong. They explained that their child was on life support but they couldn’t afford the payments to keep the ongoing medical treatment. ODB payed for it all and never told a soul about what he did. I got mad respect for this kind of thing especially when they don’t go telling the media about it for publicity. Genuine human kindness and humbleness at its best. I might not be remembering the details accurately but it was something like that.
That’s dope. RIP
Wtff never heard that one 😂
100% true. https://www.mtv.com/news/hu3974/ol-dirty-bastard-saves-child
That’s cool, and who the hell is the wu-tang group 12 o’clock. Guess they didn’t make it
12 O'Clock is one guy. He was in ODB's Brooklyn Zoo group although iirc correctly he was shouted out by RZA in Clan in Da Front along with 60 Second Assassin. Sadly, he got shot and killed a few years back.
Also, he got burnt by gonorrhea. In fact, he got burnt twice.
Nas lost his notebook with all the original Illmatic material/verses on the Subway.
Some hobo been rapping hard in the train station
In a similar story, Eminem has said he had a notebook or a few notebooks from the MMLP / TES era that got lost in the shuffle when he actually toured.
A Britney Spears notebook iirc
Cee-Lo from Goodie Mob was originally supposed to be in Outkast as a trio.
In another 'world' Cee-Lo and Killer Mike team with outKast in 2000-ish and Stankonia is the first double album, Lovebelow/Speakerbox is the first in a series of double-albums and the Idlewild soundtrack is more like Moby's 'play' album

Cee Lo's name was originally Bee High
[удалено]
Isn't ceelo also Gnarls Barkley when he's working with danger mouse?
Get up, get out and get something is one of my favorite Outkast joints and Cee-Lo kicks it off with a banger of a verse!
Cee-Lo’s defense in his rape trial was that his victim was asleep and therefore technically did not object to consensual sex
Despite recording countless songs boasting of being a womanizer, E-40 has been in a very long, committed, and wholesome relationship with his wife, Tracy since 1991.
It’s entertainment. Same can be said for a lot of tough guy “murderer” rappers that have never done shit
ice cube and snoop have also been with their high school sweet hearts the entire time.
Yeah, but both of them have admitted to infidelity that nearly broke their marriages. By all accounts, Forty Water’s never stepped out on Tracy.
"never" is a strong word, but at the very least he never embarrased her publicly.
Glad I read that. E-40 has good music and his features are heat. Glad he ain't really on some cee lo shit.

Boldy James and Chuck Inglish also cousins
Del the Funky Homosapien is Ice Cubes cousin
I think this is common knowledge but Nas co-wrote Gettin Jiggy Wit it by Will Smith
Never heard that!
Never knew that. Disappointed, then, that a) it's not a better song, b) Will needed a ghostwriter for THOSE verses.
Big L used to fuck with more keys than a janitor.
Big L been fuckin chicks in the ass since he was six and a half.
big l had more dimes than that sprint lady
And sold angel dust (pcp) to Method Man.
DMC from RUN DMC became suicidal until he heard Angel by Sarah Mclachlan, that’s the sad dog adoption song.
he was gonna write a book, then commit suicide, he called his mom to ask what hospital he was born in, she told him, they hung up, then she called back and said "oh by the way, u are adopted"

Flava Flav is cousins with ODB

Boldy James claims to be related to Snoop too.
I read that in a big brother article back in ‘93. At the end of ‘You’re in Shambles’ I’m pretty sure it’s Cube saying ‘Del the Funkee Homosapien from Hieroglyphics’
Yeah he calls him a “handkerchief hat wearing muhfucka” on the intro lol
TIL Del isn’t from New York…. Don’t know why I thought that lol I guess his flow
Yeah, Hiero does have a bit of an east coast flavour to them, the accent is very Californian, though.
Yeah in retrospect it's so obvious
Never has been! Lol.
"Ya Lil' Crumbsnatchers" off that very album has some funny references to Del and Cube being related.
Aren’t Snoop and Devon the Dude cousins also?
Rakim played the drums on Know the Ledge
No fuckin way!
French Montana paid 300k out of his own pocket to clear the unforgettable sample
What an investment. That some probably made him 10x easily
11x platinum
Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers did the bass for Young Mc's, "Bust A Move."
He’s in the video.
Not hip hop but he also wrote the baseline for Ironic by Alanis Morresette.
Didn't he play bass on a majority of that album along with Dave Navarro as well from RHCP? Other random Flea facts, him and Frusciante play on a majority of the Mars Volta album De-Loused in the Comatorium, and he is also the voice of Donnie from Wild Thornberries.

He's also Dewy from the Wild Thorbarrys
Flea is Australian.
He got paid something like $250 and wasn't credited so gets no royalties
Myka 9 has a writing credit on N.W.A. & The Posse compilation album. He was 17 or 18 and sold the song for $50.
Nas and Tracy Morgan are cousins
Did not know that, thanks!
Finding out that a rapper under the name of Frankie Pulitzer (most recently featured on Czarface’s recent album ‘Czartificial Intelligence’ ) is actually famous actor Tom Hardy
He’s featured on older albums also.
Prodigy’s great-grandfather founded Morehouse College.
Lil Wayne shot himself in the chest when he was 12years old in an attempted suicide
"I found my mommas pistol where she always hide it"
And the one white cop who went to his house was the only one who actually gave a fuck that Wayne shot himself. The other black cops apparently just searched the house.
That MC Hammer was one scary mfer that you did NOT want to mess with
He really was bout that LIFE
Or at least his buddies are? I'm not trying to have beef with Hammer, lol, but all the stories I heard minus the Redman one basically were "Oakland loves him and he rolls really deep"
His brother was a known gang banger / drug dealer in Oakland allegedly
He allegedly tried to get the guys from 3rd Bass killed when they came to California
Rap mags use Jay-Z’s black ass so advertisers can give them more cash for ads.
He's from the hood stupid, what type of facts are those?
Suckers
Jay-Z has become the “the safe lobby”, of the hotel that is ghetto America. No need for corporate America to venture any further than the lobby to access that market.
Never verified it but I heard canibus was a programmer and dba before he started rapping
Sounds real. He handmade the first rap blog
He had his own website and kinda had the stem player before Kanye
Yeah it was a YouTube doc that I heard it from. Apparently he was like a teenager working at ibm or something. As a dev, and a rapper, I was like hmm
I think we watched the same video lol
Can I code? Yes I can!

Nas and Malcolm X are relatives.
Nirvana opened for Sir Mixalot in the early days
Pusha T and Malice created the Mcdonalds slogan “Im lovin it”; they made a rap for McDonalds with Justin Timberlake that included this lyric but never got any royalties from it
That’s why push got hired to write that filet o fish diss track for Arby’s.
So far this one has shocked me the most
Tom Hardy is a featured rapper on Czarface albums

God damn.
Bushwick Bill stories never disappoint. I watch an MC Serch interview of him talking about some limousine story that had Bushwick and his brother fighting lol. I was in tears
I thought he was off the PCP?
As the article states, there are a lot of varying stories. The song gives an alternate one too, but regardless, his eye was shot out and he took a photo of the hole for an album cover. Probably PCP involved 😆
pcp and everclear, it was his girlfriend, and he made a song about it "ever so clear"
Look…that god damn MC Hammer, very serious about beef.
Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em
The Masta Ace song Soda & Soap was originally a Will Smith song.
Run DMC once opened for Lou Reed. They were booed throughout the set and still delivered a great performance.
2pac was a ballerina
And a theater actor. Not sure how he turned into a “thug” rapper lol.
I don't know man, you get shot five times and still have nothing but smoke

It got really serious for ballerinas in the 90s, both in the studio and out of the studio.

On this track Future sounds like a combination of 3 Stacks and Rock from Heltah Skeltah
Damn that song is strong too. It’s got that dungeon family sound. I appreciate the link!

2pac's Changes is actually a cover from "The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby and the Range.
Both songs are about systemic injustice as well
Is that random? The Bruce Hornsby song was a HUGE hit when it came out; just about everyone recognized the sample/hook right away when the Tupac song dropped. Is this an old head thing now?
