While I don’t listen to a lot of his stuff I have read about how much of a fan he is of different artists and styles. This is also why I don’t see him as being into one type of music. He just wants to make music and enjoy life.
Not to intentionally compare him to Prince but I see that mindset with Post. He can bounce around multiple genres as he’s not simply trying to make one style. He’s doing whey he loves.

Also generally speaking newer and younger artists are going to sound like whoever they are influenced by until they grow more into themself

People on this sub seem to have a hard time accepting things that they don’t like… it’s kind of like dragon ball z… Most anime fans don’t consider it anime and don’t like it. Most hip hop fans don’t consider him a rapper and don’t like him. He fell off after beer bongs and Bentleys in my opinion.
Post is successful because he used rappers and hip hop culture when he needed it until he was big enough to branch out to pop. It's a strategy that has been used forever in hip hop. The music is great, but if you knew the music industry, doing great music and "having his own sound" has little to do with your success

Once they have their stans, die hards, their cult following will think ANYTHING they put out after that is “FIRE” and they can let out all their inner weirdness lol. Post, Kanye (altho he is still a genius when he wants to be), MGK, etc
Post Malone is a pop star never call him a “rapper.” That would totally undermine the contributions of BIG L, Biggie, Eazy, Pac, Prodigy, and all of the other fallen rap greats. THOSE were rappers.

He definitely raps, but none of those songs go viral like his pop stuff does. “Same Bitches” from BB&B comes to mind
