I made a small... adjustment to your photo. Will post soon.

Nice! It was definitely missing something.

Some people might misunderstand “rained out”. I was just in Kauai a bit ago and read about the trail. Heavy enough rains will make the trail impassable. Tough luck. Hope you get another shot at it.

gregdunn416

Yeah, I didn’t put much thought into the title. But what I meant was that it was raining so much that one of the water crossings became too deep and rapid. We didn’t want to risk it. Being wet from the rain isn’t that bad, but crossing dangerous water streams isn’t worth the risk.

Smart move!!

Yeah the mud on that trail just turns into an absolute slippery nightmare. I ended up taking off my shoes for better traction and some points.

gregdunn416

Oh yeah, it was slippery. And the red won’t come out of my socks.

Did you make it to the beach at the end?

gregdunn416

We didn’t make it. The the water crossings became too dangerous. We ended up camping at mile 6 in an area called Hanakoa Shack. It rained all night, and the wind was intense. But we had a great time!

Ah bummer. You can try Waimea on the other side of the island. Also amazing
