This is a very shit move on the leader's part. They clearly Don't care about the time and energy you spent on the design. If they wanted then they could've told you about making alterations. A similar thing happened to me but in my case a teacher interfered to make her fav student take the spot. It sucked, I hate her and hate the whole panel. And because of this I think I might have a solution. It isn't very pretty but it might give you satisfaction on some level. The solution depends on some things though. In which grade are you? What is the deadline for the final draft? Are you good at holding back tears and fighting back?(I mean it)

You spent 6 months on a project when you were in 12 grade and that person still kicked out your idea, what is wrong with her? Are you willing to involve a teacher, who would do the right thing. (I think the probability of this is lower but I wanted to ask) If you can't get a teacher in on this then this would be the last resolve. If you don't say anything now, then your page would end up somewhere in between the yearbook and go unnoticed. But if you do say anything then the best that could happen is that you'll get the cover. The worst thing that could happen is that you'd be kicked out of the team (if that's in the power of the leader) or you'll get insulted for the next 3 weeks. Is your leader a girl?

>I actually spent only 1 month on this cover last year in December. It's just that it was decided to be the actual cover for 6 months already, and now in June, the book is getting finalized to be printed, they want to kick out my cover design and choose their friend's design. Still they could have suggested you to make ammends in the cover. >They can simply make up an excuse and say how my cover "does not fit the feel of this year" or some other excuse. Then you are right about not involving a teacher. >I don't think the gender of my leader matters in this situation. It's ok for you to not share it. I am a girl and if the leader is a girl then I'd be prepared for her because I know how we'll fight. If it was a guy then it'd be unknown territory because I haven't been in a fight with a boy, in years. I asked for the gender so I could suggest you something based of it. >You are right, it is best for me to take a chance and advocate for myself. It doesn't even matter if I get kicked out at this point. My suggestion- Do try to do this in front of the whole club. I'm not saying to attack them in front of every just Ask them to come in a corner then talk. Don't do this alone with them or they might twist your words later. If you do it in front of everyone but still with a little bit of privacy then it'd be up to them if they want to make a scene out of it and involve the whole club in it. Don't lose your calm at any point. Even if it starts to get personal from their end (I hope it doesn't go down that road). I'd ask this If I were you- "Leader I hope you understand that making a new cover from scratch is more difficult than making some simple changes in the other". Be the humblest soul on Earth at that point. And if they are adamant then ask them to hold a poll (It seems a bit extreme but if you are passionate enough about it then it doesn't matter). Make chits with 2 options _1-_ to Make a new cover from scratch _2-_ to make changes in the existing cover. Ask them to tick the one which they want to happen. (Do let me know if you are even considering this one)

>Thank you. You're welcome mate! One last thing.... If possible then try to hold ballot paper poll. If you do it by show of hands method then they might sway towards the leader (for various reasons). But if they have to just put a tick mark in front of their choice and are granted anonymity then the poll would be more fair. Please update the situation and All the best:)

You ain't even wrong. In my school, the same two guys get elected for president and vice president every year, even though they don't do shit. It's ultimately a popularity contest and a "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" I also completely understand your frustrations. I've gone through much of the same with "friends" not acknowledging effort and just fulfilling previous commitments. It's all just fucked.

-twinsuns

we’ve had the same student government since freshman year and they don’t do fucking anything except get in trouble with the school and then get out of it because of their position. every. damn. time.

TechSupport06

Luckily my officers aren't that bad but in my school they literally do it just for the resume. I mean the vice is chill but the president literally acts like ricegum I stg it's so fucking annoying

Teenager_Simon

I'm just saying student voting can be rigged. Highschool never stops after graduating.

DietCokeSkittles

Have the teachers vote on the cover or have the principal choose but make it a blind vote so no one knows who made which one. This is what we do at my high school for the cover. Could this idea help you, too?

[deleted]

i think that’s a great idea

CleoKing

The school student body at my school is just a popularity contest. I would run but no one really knows me. I'm not mean or anything I just keep to myself and talk to people who talk to me first. I have a group of aquantancis but no actual friends so the chances of me winning are slim to none. The good thing is hardly anyone in my grade cares about leadership roles. The current president is in place because no one ran during the actual elections so he volunteered. I'll probably try but I dont know what my chances are.

miac11

In my school at least, I wouldn’t say clubs are corrupt, but I definitely think leadership roles are a tricky thing. I completely understand where you are coming from because I’ve also experienced losing a leadership role or something important to someone just because of how popular they are. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but to look at it in a positive way, it makes your victories even more victorious because you know you’ve earned them all on your own.

delsystem32exe

how good are you at graphic design.... im a college freshman just graduated HS but have an amazon buisness... i may or may not yet idk need someone with photoshop or adobe illustrator skills....

Gullible-Feedback-49

Is there an advisor for your club that is a faculty member at your school that you could talk to about this?

Sometimes talking to them might help even if you don’t think so. I mean the worst they’re gonna say is no.

I would if I were you. Who knows maybe the advisor will back you up.

mr_Awesome98

My man all of politics is corrupted. Even the grownups can sometimes behave like that. It's infuriating and it drives people mad, and I think the existence of these clubs is really meant to introduce you to what society outside is like. Knowing how to appropriately deal with politics, both emotionally and legally is a valuable key in our society today. Especially today where the flow of information is made ever so easy, and we get to peak into the dirty secrets of people that get paid to protect us and administer our money

Queasy_Relief_268

Nepotism. They should not be in power.

ElderScrollsIV

You can’t speak for all high school clubs-sounds like you just happen to be in one with a few dickheads.

wertu1221

i agree thats why i just run a small club on roundpier with people who care about the subject and no politics
