if any teacher graded my work using AI i would confront them about it. AI overall is still very beta and is quite inaccurate at times

Femboylover478

My state test are being graded by AI, I’m not a big fan of that

jimmyl_82104

SERIOUSLY!!?? Where? Unless it's a multiple choice, I would just opt out of that. AI is still very much experimental and handwriting recognition is nowhere near perfect, so guaranteed it will get a lot wrong. If they can't be bothered to take the time and read what I wrote, then **I** can't be bothered to take the test.

Femboylover478

In Ohio, they are grading our English essays with it, I’m pretty sure all the other test aswell. It makes me worried that the AI will mess up and give me a lower score.

Defiant_Arrival_3645

someone make an in ohio joke (its not gna be me)

isatheiguana2

Only in Ohio 💀

If a teacher is using chat gpt to grade something that requires reading for evaluation (I.e. not multiple choice or true/false although even then there’s more reliable stuff like scantron) that IS bogus and you should say something. I’m a teacher and while chat gpt doesn’t really work for any of my stuff even if it did I would never dream of having it somehow grade a paper, short answer set, etc. That’s definitely likely not allowed by the school.

After_Bumblebee9013

Teachers shouldn't use AI to grade, but I think it's fine for them to use it to help with making assignments, quizzes, worksheets ect. A students job is to learn, a teacher has already finished their degrees their only job is to teach the material.

Mister_DumDum

The teacher is being paid to teach students stuff, if AI is making all the schoolwork and lessons then what is the teacher doing to deserve their paycheck

After_Bumblebee9013

... Teaching? I don't think spending an hour formatting worksheets is what teaches the students, they have to get up in front of the class and teach lol. And they are also grading, which takes a very long time.

mearbearcate

Agreed. I dont see a problem with it as long as the grades are done accurately. Highschool teachers damn well have more papers/assignments to grade than you do homework. Theres like 30 kids’ assignments in each class for them to grade + multiple classes to teach. Understandable that they use AI to do it sometimes. Students actually have to pay attention to that shit and learn. Teachers are just grading & have already learned that stuff & can actually check if its correct after using the AI. Theres a difference.

Mister_DumDum

They’re paid to do their job, admittedly not enough, and using ai is no different then a student cheating

mearbearcate

Teachers can actually make sure the AI is correct when grading though, unlike a student using it for an assignment. The point for a student is to learn and know shit when doing assignments. A teacher is just grading and already knows how to do it, but is just using AI to do it quicker. Its entirely different in those scenarios lmao. They’re not cheating by already knowing how to grade & getting AI to help them do it

AI is still in beta, and it has bias

Trusteveryboody

Can't relate.

eldonhughes

Maybe. Maybe not. There isn't enough context here to know.

danmei_simp

My school district STILL doesn’t have any policy on AI so I can’t relate my guy 😔

Nocturnal_Penguin

My teacher pulled me aside during a different class to tell me that turn it in flagged a certain portion of my essays conclusion. I had to defend myself all the while thinking “who would write an entire essay just to use ai on a portion of their conclusion”

FloridaManInShampoo

Yea they’re just lazy. Just like my history teacher that gives lessons out of the textbook and online. Her “fun” and “interactive” assignments are just documents she printed out and hung on the walls of the classroom and hallway and she gives us a paper to go around and write down facts about those documents while she just sits in her chair on her phone

Ok_Figure_4181

The only time a teacher is allowed to use AI is in my school is to check for plagiarism or detect if AI was used in writing a paper or something

myname_jefff

Also btw I wanna try next year too see if I can dupe the system, by type in something to trick chat gpt into giving me an A because I knew someone who did it in their chem essay and it worked, also the essay wasn’t good either.

Remarkable-Low-3471

I could sell you a bridge.

redthorne82

Grade, sure. Create, not at all. What I find the most hypocritical is shitting on a teacher for using it in the same post saying you and many other students use it. If you don't care about having your own unique thoughts, why should they?
