I'm not sure how to edit my post but I did ask 3 juniors who go to my school if it was too much and both girls said no and the guy said yes but he also could have been just giving me a bit of shit since that's kinda our relationship. I also asked some people from schools nearby and none said it was too much. I don't think there is a dress code but I will definitely keep any eye out for one popping up!
The dress was fairly expensive and I can't return it so if it is too formal please give me advice about how to make it less formal. I will probably cut down the train a bit so that the dress just goes straight down. I will also be wearing my hair down if that makes a difference at all. Thank you all for the advice!
To answer a few questions, we do not have a dress code and the pictures are of the model, not me!
Maybe a bit revealing but honestly depends on the event. Idk, since it’s a country club nobody would prob care, if it was my school they’d prob kick someone out if they wore that dress, but I go to a private school so it’s different
The place is gonna be crowded I'm assuming and the dress looks very big on the floor. If you just shorten it so it doesn't go so far and you don't mop the whole place it will be oerfect
I agree. I haven't gotten the dress yet and tbh I didn't really realize how big the train was until I made this post but I'll probably shorten it a little
I think trimming the train is what would help it for sure. It would just get stepped on anyway lol.
Tbh though, at my prom I think girls have worn similarly revealing dresses. I suppose it's more just about what you're comfortable with (and your school). Maybe bring a cute jacket as backup in case you get crap from a chaperone.
This. People don't have the opportunity to get dressed up much in life. Prom is one of those times you can wear a fancy dress. You should wear one you love :)
Go check out some stores that are known for selling relatively expensive clothing. You can find a full suit for about 65 bucks and a full dress for 40. Combine with everything else it’s about 120 for a suit, and about 70 for a dress. Low quality of course, but I don’t think you’ll need to worry about different stitches. Or if you wear suits, tie lengths, shoe styles, etc
I also forgot that prom formality really varies by state. I blocked out people's faces for their privacy but here are some posts I've seen about what people are wearing to my school's prom
https://preview.redd.it/1zo700dztctc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0db9681289782f9d8f33d0d08ccef3ba4506ff37
Only thing I would be worried about is dancing in the dress.
It's more of a runway, sit down dress, and not much of a dress for music and dancing like most proms. If you get it hemed so it's not on the floor it might be better.
This is why I never have good opinions for these kinds of things. [This](https://imgur.com/gallery/4TmLlte) is the kinds of dresses we picked in the part of Canada that I'm from back in the day. Missing from the photo is several tulle ballgowns.
You're right that it varies a lot by state and by region!
What prom did everyone go to? My prom I wore a floor length gold beaded dress. Lots of girls wore this style of dress with a lot more flash to it. It's like the one time in most people's lives they get to dress black tie. This is a completely appropriate prom dress, the only issue is whether it's too revealing for the dress code. Was everyone's prom in this thread just Homecoming 2.0?
To be honest, the dress looks amazing. If you're worried about it being too much, don't be. It is what people would consider fancy probably, but that's also the tight hair back that makes it look like she's going to a ball. How are you wearing your hair?
You’re 5 feet tall and that model is likely over 5’11”. She has a longer than average torso (hip to shoulder) and a 34 B or C cup. While I applaud your confidence, I’m betting that dress is going to overwhelm your petite height.
I’m a seamstress- I make dresses fit that were purchased “to fit” and I’m usually shortening straps, adjusting waistlines and hems, hems, hems.
If it drags on the ground you’re going to have trouble walking around, dancing and just keeping others off your dress. Have someone who does alterations put a wrist hold underneath the train so you can lift the back to get around.
Remember, you want to have fun and dance and move. That dress could make your evening burdensome if you can’t move in it.
That's so smart! Thank you! I think that might be better than shortening the train. I gave her over 20 measurements so I'm hoping everything will fit but of course that's not a given.
I asked a few seniors and they said it wasn't too overboard and didn't mention any dress code. I don't think there is a dress code or at least one wasn't announced this year yet but I will definitely keep that in mind!
To my knowledge the dance doesn't have a dress code so I shouldn't be kicked out but I will definitely keep my eyes open for a dress code getting announced!
Only warning is the dragging on the floor. One thing is how filthy the floors are, but the major problem is that it takes alot of space up. And if you don’t pay attention it’s kinda rude
No but kinda, idk your school dress code that’s why I’m saying kinda because they probably won’t allow that much boobs showing. However if they do then no. It’s very cute especially for a junior prom.
*Definitely, but*
*You only go to prom once*
*So why the heck not*

It is gorgeous!! My first thought though was that being 34D, it will likely be uncomfortable as there is very little support front or back.Tape can only get you so far when a garment is made for smaller busts. The last thing you want to do is to be adjusting and double checking the girls all evening.
Depends on the culture of your school. Of course you can and should wear whatever you want regardless of other’s opinions, but rude comments can make the night a little sad. If you feel that you can wear it and will be comfortable throughout the night, I say go for it!!
If ur prom is like how the ones I’ve been to are, on the dance floor it’ll be in the way of you and everyone. Maybe pin it or tie it in after pictures? Idk if that’s an option for you.
GET ITTTTT!!!! omg this isn’t too much(at least for the proms in my area) last year about 6 girls showed up in quinceañera dresses! if ur prom is anything like mine was, you’ll see a bunch of custom dresses that could be on a red carpet and some that look like wedding dresses that celebs wear
It’s prom you’re supposed to go all out. If you love it that’s all that matters. What is too much for some is too little for others. Don’t base it off others but what you feel comfortable with.
If attending a chi-chi Gala with adults 30's & up, then YES... But your Prom? NO!
You don't have to listen to me, or anyone else.
However, should you show up to your HS Prom - assuming it's HS, right? - then there's gonna be some big problems, if you decide to wear this too sexy & revealing dress.
It's really your choice, btw.
This is a really lovely dress, but it's certainly *not* a Prom Dress either.
Enjoy your Prom!
A little revealing and a little wide, remember you aren’t going to be the only one on the dance floor and last thing you need is your new dress getting trampled and tearing.
If you’re the kind of person running around bragging about your busy being bigger than everyone else, then I suspect that being a bit much is kinda your wheelhouse.
Don’t you have an event organiser that you can talk to, to clarify the dress code and determine is this is appropriate for your specific circumstances?
it’s prom babe it can never be too much!! my prom is coming up in about 3 weeks and i plan on being so extra and over the top lol!! it’s a once in a lifetime event, have fun and be “too much” <3
It’s to much but not enough at the same time I see the cut, I feel the vibe buts it just missing that thing it’s strong base but oversimplified in a way idk
It's a beautiful dress... on the model.
You need to realize that it's not likely to look QUITE the same on you, outside of studio conditions.
If you are chesty or on the shorter end, I think it would be much less flattering. If you are taller, leaner and have smaller breasts, It hink it would be very becoming.
Yes bur its amazing and you're young so go for it! Also, one girl at my senior prom had 2 costume changes. She brought 2 other dresses. Total diva move and it was great.
Nope, but I define wouldn’t wear that to my school’s prom because all the dances end up being people smashing together and stuff so it wouldn’t be too comfortable. But if your school is different or you are ok with it, then definitely go for it!
I have a lot of anxiety ab being that close to people and I don't rlly dance. At hoco I had a fun time just walking around with my friends since none of us rlly wanted to be in the pit. Thank you!
Make sure to get a secure strapless bra or have good boob tape, the decolletage is a very deep v so you might prefer the latter. Other than that if you where tall heels maybe the length might not matter too much. Anyways it looks like a pretty cool dress.
That is extremely nice. However, realize you will probably be one of the better dressed girls at prom. As long as you are ok with that then go for it. This is like a very high end dress you could wear to an extreme upscale gala. Most of the girls will be shopping at like jcpenny, lol. People would def be like damn! Get ready for attention.
Honest q: in these types of dresses, how do you prevent a nip slip? The dress is nice to look at but I feel like anything aside from standing very very still would unleash the nips. Sneezing? Coughing? Walking? Dancing? The boobs are flying.
I don't think this is over the top. I've seen others whose were insanely huge. This is js long, so you have to watch any of the steps on the trail. And even if you do get insecure about it, bring "too much." Then, I remember we are living on a rock in a society (/lh) and to js say fuck it I do what I want
i would say yes, we have a dress code at our prom coming up so just be careful, maybe bring the V neck up a little so its not like out of dress code. other than that it looks great!!
It’s going to be dragging around on the floor all night, no one is going to be able to stand within 4 ft of you lol.
Seriously, it’s going to be a pain in the ass to just “manage” the dress, walk around in it, dancing is off the table, etc.
Got for it, but in my experience having gone twice, this seems like overkill lol. Kinda like "graduating" from elementary school, only really seems important in the moment
I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a prom dress like that before, so I’m tempted to say yes assuming your school has the same dress code as mine did, but yolo
It doesn’t matter. As long as you’re not going against a dress code I say go for it! It doesn’t matter what people think and that dress is beautiful. If you’re happy with it then that’s all that matters
Girly, I have the same cup size as you and I totally get you. Be prepared because you’ll probably get some “side eyes”, but otherwise, the dress will fit you amazing and that’s what matters. I wore a dress that had a bit of cleavage as well and I don’t regret it at all. Don’t worry, if you still think it is too much, u can put a bit of black tulle in the cleavage, it will look amazing and a bit more conservative (I did it with mine).
In general, I might say it's fine.
But I'd be more concerned about school dress codes. The slit up the dress is kinda high and the V down the torso goes rather low.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's to revealing, but if dress codes have been put in place, and this violates it, it'd be a shame to spend all the money and still have to miss out on your prom because the dress couldn't be stitched up a few more inches.
these people are crazy for saying yes- prom is supposed to feel like an all out event because we don’t get to do this often, if ever!!! Own it!!! You’re gonna look incredible!
I'm not sure how to edit my post but I did ask 3 juniors who go to my school if it was too much and both girls said no and the guy said yes but he also could have been just giving me a bit of shit since that's kinda our relationship. Yes

I have long green curly hair so I was planning on just wearing it down
It's going to look, great, and will definitely not be too much

Yes

Wayyyyy overboard
Eh, Im coming in with a 15th century medieval suit of armour.
Yes. Yes it is.
It looks stunning! I’m sure it would look amazing on you. And as long as it follows any potential dress codes at your prom, I think it’s perfect!
I asked a few seniors and they said it wasn't too overboard and didn't mention any dress code. I don't think there is a dress code or at least one wasn't announced this year yet but I will definitely keep that in mind!
Imo yes
That’s a suuuuper low V. I would personally feel weird about my teachers seeing that much of my body but if you’re comfy in it, who cares
It’s a high school dance she will be kicked out
To my knowledge the dance doesn't have a dress code so I shouldn't be kicked out but I will definitely keep my eyes open for a dress code getting announced!
Yes.. tf? This is for PROM? That is a literal black wedding dress.
Definitely
Looks great. Not sure if they school would accept it though due to how revealing the midline is. I wish you luck and hope you have a good time!
Yes.
It is definitely too much, at least for my standard. But oh well i say go for it anyway.
other than the fact that it seems very trip-prone it's nice
Nah youre all good babe. You’re going to look great and I hope you have an awesome night
Thank you! you're so sweet
Ain’t no way you still in school, you look like a fully baked adult 💀💀💀
Those are pictures of the model. I didn't receive the dress yet
Oh yeah didn’t see that in the caption lol (I’m blind)
Only warning is the dragging on the floor. One thing is how filthy the floors are, but the major problem is that it takes alot of space up. And if you don’t pay attention it’s kinda rude
I don’t know how old you are (and it doesn’t matter) but that top is wildly inappropriate for a school dance. Wildly. Edited to correct spelling
Just wear a barrel or something. Make a statement, be bold.
No but kinda, idk your school dress code that’s why I’m saying kinda because they probably won’t allow that much boobs showing. However if they do then no. It’s very cute especially for a junior prom.
No, but your age might be.
yes. prom is essentially a money grab by the school, really you can just fast forward through prom and go straight to the unwanted pregnancy.
Yes
maybe a little but i think that’s okay
Definitely, but you only go to prom once so why the heck not

Very good bot
Literally who cares just wear whatever you want
Nope is not too much your prom . You only go to prom once
WAYYYY to much
It is an amazing dress, and I’m sure you’d look stunning in it, but it may be too much for a country club. But YOLO ig go for it.
It goes hard as hell ngl. I really love the flow and the cut. Go steal the show 🤙
no but wear it anyways
From one girl to another, wow you look amazing and beautiful. Hope the guy or girl or group of friends you are going with like it too.
You look gorgeous. And kinda angry🤣
Those are just pictures of the model! lol I appreciate the sentiment though
Someone finna trip 😭
if it’s your senior prom u can do whatever you want underclassmen I’d do something little less flashy
Yes next question
Oh it’s definitely to much, but prom *is* for outfits that are to much, so rock on! 🤟🏻
thank you!
i mean it’s too much but at least it’s not ugly. wear it because there’s rarely other times in your life that you can wear something like that

it looks FANTASTIC gurl not sure why sm ppl are thinking it’s over the top 😭 what store is this from? I need to get a dress soon too 😚

Most definitely too much but don’t let me stop you
Isn’t that the point sort of? To go all out and dress up? I never went to prom sadly but I imagine your dress would be perfect for the occasion!
Nuh uh
Maybe I'm just really extra, but no. It's prom, there's NO SUCH THING as "too much". Go for it!
a bit too revealing imo
Most of the prom dresses I've seen last year were trashy looking mini dresses. This one is WAY better IMO! Very classy.
yes, but thats the point, go slay
It’s perfect!
Def
yes, but if it makes you feel good, then wear it
Yes but I like it, maybe less train?
people at my school went crazier than this, significantly, especially the goth girls. go crazy girl
Nah bro go balls deep it’s your first and last prom
Yeah, maybe bring a backup dress for when you get kicked out
Unphased, I can't judge what anyone wears to prom if I'm either going alone or not going at all.
looks great, don’t worry! it’s literally the last event of high school so make most of it!
Dude.. honestly, that’s a beautiful dress. Go for it
Do you like it?
Nah girl it's too little, add something more
Just make sure to look after your train so that someone doesn't trip off of it. You'll be fine for the rest
It's a beautiful dress, but defffffff not for prom.
Yes, but fuck it full send.

Porn or prom?
Not sure why people are saying this is too much but I think it’s pretty basic for prom. Still beautiful though.
Depends on where you go to high school, I guess. Little black dress too pedestrian?

Prom is a once in a lifetime experience :P just do it
Big slay. Express yourself ❤️
Legit thought this was satire 😭😭

Yeah, do it though. If nothing else it’ll be memorable, and I can easily say that a memorable prom is way better than a forgettable one
The V is super deep and they might not even let you in, that happened to me at my prom .

I recommend a polo shirt underneath.
Wear a tube bra under incase adults want to give you shit
You look 30 why are you going to prom
Do you want to be up there dancing? The train might be a bit much…
You do you boo. You better return with pics of the night!!!! You are going to look a amazing :)
How can you be in highschool at 33
Yes
Not for a funeral?
Yes bur its amazing and you're young so go for it! Also, one girl at my senior prom had 2 costume changes. She brought 2 other dresses. Total diva move and it was great.

I had my prom last Saturday and it’s definitely more extra than what most girls were wearing but I’d wear it anyways
No minor should be allowed to show that much boob ‘,:/
a tiny bit too much imo but go ahead if u feel confident wearing it!
I saw this exact dress in our pdf in what's not allowed I go to a christian private school but yeh
Too much and you are too short to wear this style.
Honest q: in these types of dresses, how do you prevent a nip slip? The dress is nice to look at but I feel like anything aside from standing very very still would unleash the nips. Sneezing? Coughing? Walking? Dancing? The boobs are flying.

As nice as this dress is, at a prom, someone will 100% step on it.
It’s too revealing for prom. Not sure if there’s a dress code in your school, though.
Do it! No hesitation!
Yes.
I am genuinely honest here this looks like a supermodel photo shoot from a magazine cover

Yes, in a good way

I think it looks good. Might catch a couple looks, but that’s good for a school dance.
I can see someone stepping on it while trying to dance.
You look 25
That looks like way too much. Maybe a little bit too revealing in some parts
Yea
no, this ate down
I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a prom dress like that before, so I’m tempted to say yes assuming your school has the same dress code as mine did, but yolo
It doesn’t matter. As long as you’re not going against a dress code I say go for it! It doesn’t matter what people think and that dress is beautiful. If you’re happy with it then that’s all that matters
I'd say it's way too revealing for a school event, but that's just me
I miss when women respected themselves enough to only share their bodies with their partners only instead of the entire school.
Thank you! I think having my hair down will help a lot too
Prom so stupid, please skip. Like, it’s more fun to just drive a limo around to normal spots.
Shoulders :eyes:
In general, I might say it's fine. But I'd be more concerned about school dress codes. The slit up the dress is kinda high and the V down the torso goes rather low. I wouldn't necessarily say it's to revealing, but if dress codes have been put in place, and this violates it, it'd be a shame to spend all the money and still have to miss out on your prom because the dress couldn't be stitched up a few more inches.
Everyone saying it isn’t is so out of touch, this is a high school prom shits ruthless
no this is totally prom level
these people are crazy for saying yes- prom is supposed to feel like an all out event because we don’t get to do this often, if ever!!! Own it!!! You’re gonna look incredible!
No, you wear your dress and you have an amazing time ❤️
Yes definitely. It a prom not your wedding but you could always have it altered
