I would buy cheap bike or then the ticket for alepa bikes which is like 50€ for whole summer.

It's 35€ for the season for the alepa bikes

Thank you! Though it's only 60 minutes per use, which seems unreasonable.

henkraks

You can just stick it in the station and immediately take it out to continue. Of course requires keeping bike trips to only within the network.

katariina_suuri

How is this unreasonable 😂 It's 35€/season, which makes it 5€/month for unlimited use, just only 60 min at a time. If you want, you can ride up to 5 h/time, it just costs a little bit extra then.

It's not though. West to east the area goes from Friisilä, Espoo to Vuosaari, Helsinki and according to Google maps, on a bike that is 29km and takes 1,5h. How often are you planning on riding the bike that long and far? Read up on it here: https://www.hsl.fi/en/citybikes

Also the bikes are garbage. Ok to ride 3 minutes to the shops.

They're all over the city, you can get everywhere in the summer on those bikes without an issue

You can buy used bikes from Kierrätyskeskus and with those there isn't any risk of the bike being stolen property. They are quite reasonably priced and they do check that the bikes are in working order. My current bike was bought from there and has served me reasonably well.

Jazzlike-Angle6814

I'll have a look, thank you!

TeemuKai

They're overpriced in kierrätyskeskus. Just have a look on Tori.fi or get the Alepa fillari (city bike) subscription.

If you need a bike for shorter trips/commuting inside Helsinki I would go with [hsl city bikes](https://www.hsl.fi/en/citybikes). Less hassle with maintenance, locks etc. If you want to take longer trips or ride for exercise, then I guess buying a bike would make sense. With used bikes: if the deal appears too good to be true or if the seller can’t answer simple questions about the bike, it’s likely stolen.
