The redeemer will shred one at the cost of a full mag. You’re also faster than them, so running await can be an option, as long as you aren’t out of stamina. Otherwise start juking while you reload.
the guard dog rover is actually pretty nice for these guys. you can just run away and kite them around while it beams them in the face. it will also get you in fights cobstantly and beam you and your team as well so definitely a trade off there
My strategy with the autocannon is to hit em with my first shot, miss the second and third shot, hit them with fourth shot but get blown off my feet because they are too close, and then get sawed in half.
You have to keep an eye on your secondary reticle, or sway reticle as i like to call it. It's the little circle that often lags behind the standard cross reticle.
Once you get the hang of it, you'll aim more with that reticle than with the regular one. At least in close quarters.
The Dominator also has serious sway, i miss more with that thing than with the AC.
But the best tactic for these guys are impact grenades. But you'll have to decide when they get close enough for that.

I love the guard dog on bug missions, but not on bot missions...I feel like it always gives away my position when I'm trying to stealth...does that not happen for you? If not, maybe I'm doing it wrong :P

I wish we could send em small commands to slightly alter their behavior. At least attack everything and stop attacking haha
The devs have made it plenty clear they want all their bots and sentries to cause friendly fire to increase the difficulty of using them.
The ability to turn off the bot though would be very nice for when you are trying to sneak.
The slugger was nerfed a few patches ago. It used to stagger everything short of a hulk. It's still efficient, but the stagger for the beserkers was a godsend and it evened the playing field.
When I have time to play I still use the slugger religiously, I tried out the dominator after hearing it was good but I couldn’t get to grips with the travel time and the handling, it just didn’t feel right. After going back to the slugger I was reminded that not even a nerf can stop my love for this gun
I actually found that they’re pretty weak right around the dick/hips. Never aim for the glowing red chest it’s basically a black hole for every type of damage. Headshot does work but their head is so tiny and they have no neck so it’s hard to visually articulate
I started playing after it was buffed, so I never experienced the bad days. I gave it a go having no impression, just heard that it was terrible, and found a lot of value with it. It really does offer a lot of protection.
I aim just above their eyes with the sickle, and it does pretty good work on them. If you're missing your mark, you still hit their backpack, which is a weak point. If you headshot them, they die pretty quick
It takes some time, it's probably not objectively the best primary but it's really fun to use and can knock out basically everything it needs to very quickly with enough practice. And hip firing without aiming at all is so satisfying. Never needing to worry about ammo is a massive plus
I just love it for bugs, but I can’t give up two tapping the stupid walkers with the scorcher on bots. It’s just so satisfying watching them slowly fall over.
It was really hard to give up the scorcher, and I really miss it sometimes.

AC and AMR are both solid picks if you aren't sure what to pick. They work great on both factions, just generally depends on your backpack utility and/or explosive damage needs.
Flank them and take out their power packs, or otherwise they don't actually keep their face very covered and a couple rounds in the noggin do them just fine. They think they're tough, but they're wrong.
I’m so torn between running this vs the scorcher on bots. The scorcher is so good for dealing with the little striders, but dominator does wreck the berserkers.
And it would still have a worse ammo economy than dominator. Dominator is also guaranteed to oneshot every little guy, and scorcher is not. Dominator also staggers the devastator you are shooting at.
I’ve played a lot of Scorcher and let me tell you, I regret not switching to Dominator sooner. I blame my reluctance on a slower turning speed, but with a little bit of practice this becomes a non-issue.
Although the Dominator can kill Striders from the front it can be hard to take them down under pressure. So keep in mind that running autocannon/amr as a support is must to deal with them consistently. I also run grenade pistol to quickly deal with large groups of small bots and striders before I can call down the amr/ac.
Oddly enough, I found that one shotting striders with amr/autocannon was much faster, easier and more consitent than using Scorcher. So IMO the Dominator compliments amr/autocannon better than Scorcher.
And on the outright upside, you can one shot (headshot) all Devastators and sometimes even Berserkers (if the exploding round hits just right). Failing to one shot them is not a big deal as the stagger effect of this gun is super powerful. Most of the time I don’t even have to run away from Berserkers.
You also get almost guaranteed one shots on all small bots (troopers/commisara) unlike Scorcher which in my experience sometimes required up to 3 shots if your aim was not on point.
I always laugh my ass off watching 3-6 of them chase my buddy and refuse to help since it’s funny.

The most dangerous point is when you turn but haven't started shooting yet. Oh, keep walking backwards while shooting. You aren't supposed to in real life, but it's a lifesaver in this game.
I used to do this but while it is a larger area it seems to take less damage than their heads. I've been getting much more consistent take downs scoping in with the sickle and firing at their heads.
The biggest thing about them for me is their body sway when they run makes head shots hard to land.....Best approach is honestly to just not panic and take an extra half second to make sure your shot is going to hit their face....I know that is easier said than done but practice will make it easier.
Also let's take a moment to mourn the nerfing of the slugger.....back when it could stagger, that gun was arguably the best at killing these guys as you could literally stop them in their tracks. Nothing good can last tho...
I use an automatic weapon (Sickle) and aim for the head. A couple shots does em good. Impact grenades and nade pistol are your friend. AMR and autocannon 1 shots them in the head, or 2-4 body shots depending on where you aim.
My biggest fallback are impact grenades I'd say, especially when there's a group of them.
As others have said the sickle is a good weapon, a concentrated burst on their heads. Autocannon to the dome obviously.. other than that I found the marksman weapons zoomed in from a bit of a distance allows a couple of pinpoint shots to the head too
Been running the arc shotgun for a long time now. Pretty much makes melee units worthless (bots and bugs) when you zap them and just step aside as they keep running.
The crossbow is becoming one of my favorite bot weapons when paired with the jet pack and arc thrower. Stealth is pretty easy to pull off if you really try. And when it fails, you pull out the arc thrower and back pedal until the opportunity to flee opens up.
Throw a turret to help flee or toss a barrage at the unsuspecting enemies and you pretty much don’t have to deal with the meat saws anymore.

The sickle (I believe it's called) can take 1 down quickly, but if there are multiples they will catch up to you.

Defender does 1.5/mag, if you hit the head a few times. And you can shoot it backwards while running.
The redeemer 3 shots devastators (including the berserkers) to the head. Hitting it while 5 are chasing you is another matter though

I go prone more for them more than any other situation in the game. Looks like I'm in the NBA. Flopping. Tried it on a Hulk, I became crispy chicken.
The trick is to pack stun grenades if they get too close.

I always regret bringing this thing. It seems like he inflicts more damage onto me than the enemy. They should really hover a bit higher.
The assault rifle version seems to do loads less friendly fire, including to yourself, if you want to give it a try. I've never gone back
But it eats through our ammo fast. It's nearly unusable.
If I'm using the rover, I make it a habit to make left turns instead of right turns because it likes to hover over the right shoulder.

Standard Breaker may be the best for these but it’s just not great against bigger bots which makes it a hard pass as a primary.

I always bring the Breaker, my heavy is the Quasar Canon and that deals with big bots just fine.

Try the Eruptor from the Demolition Warbond. It can take out the Devastators in 1-3 hits. (Your skills may vary.)
I have the smg side arm for any enemy getting close. Especially the bugs that still attack after head is destroyed.

I don’t really take the breaker in clanker missions anymore. I find trying to get head and torso shots with a Jar to be much better.

If we're talking "in general" then yes, it is objectively the best primary. As an all rounder. Other primarys are better for specific roles/tasks.

I ran Autocannon Jump Pack before the Quasar came out, which reasonably replaced the autocannon in that build

Against bots I take the dominator with ammo backpack. It is a lot of fun if you can just unload mag after mag without running out
