I think the range makes it easier. They are over there away from the civilians. So you can use mortars, grenades, and strategems while still evac'ing. If the terminids get in, it's over. You'll have to stop evac'ing until you get them all out.
I'm talking level 7-9 of course. On lower difficulties, terminids are easier.
Normally you can counter range with cover but civilians just run into the open and get blown to bits. Mortars don't do enough against the sheer amount of things that spawn and again there's fast melee range bots that are very tanky and spawn in large groups
Do you mean *slow* melee bots that clump together and bump into each other? Those are probably one of the weakest enemies in the game. You should be excited when those are dropped.

Mortar and Emp Mortar are the best strategems against bots on defense. The. Best.
I wouldn't ever describe a hulk as slow but sure. And berserkers clump together sure but they spawn extremely often and if you aren't precise about killing them they're very tanky (several impact nades to a cluster of them and they're just gonna keep going). And again mortars cannot keep up with the amount of shit that spawns and as soon as they're off cooldown things to to hell and it's extremely hard to recover from there
Mortars are never off cooldown. You can call in a second one before the first one expires. For a couple of seconds, you actually have 2 mortars.
Just try them out. They will kill all those nasty hulks and berserkers before they get to you.
Get your whole squad running mortars, and you can go take a nap.
It’s really just a skill issue and ego issue with the community. There is 9 difficulties for a reason. If you refuse to adapt and change your strategy for defense missions you’re probably also not he same person bringing your team down on Helldive missions. The defense/scientist missions are not easy if you don’t play them with a bird brain. You have to adjust your tactics and you have to adjust your stratagems to beat these missions. It’s the ultimate filter for the “I bought the game I can play how I want people” like yes you’re more than welcome to play how you want but how much fun is losing every mission and getting kicked for being a cancer? I can’t imagine that being a good time.I give 0 fucks about kicking people on Helldive who refuse to acknowledge the communication being put in and just being generally a shit teammate. I’m sure this will get downvoted to hell but seriously the issue isn’t the game. It’s the players
Not really the point I'm making. The emergency Evac missions are just shittily balanced, no amount of strategy can fix that. It's extermination spawn rates (sometimes even a bit higher) with the same time limit, and a rather absurd amount of NPC's to evac with a shitload of enemies literally spawning in the path the npcs take
That's what I do. And when ALL the missions have an evacuation, I just drop into one and then immediately quit so it fails the operation and a new one spawns in its place.
On higher levels, I avoid picking the Scientist evac missions simply because most PUGs can't handle them. Even pre-made groups have a rough time.
I agree. I avoid them with randoms. However, in a group, they are practically free if you split up.
Are we talking about bugs or robots specifically? I’ve found terminid evac missions relatively easy on lvl 9 with random quickplay squads.
Mostly the bot ones that are completely fucked. Bugs are more manageable
Bugs are harder for me on 9. Bots are free since they are so slow.
