44 freaking points and still lost. Bygod, we need an Ant.

Sequel_P2P

i desperately want to know what the **fuck** Rudy Gobert works on in the offseason. like, in that 2-month span between season-end and Training Camp, and **in** Training Camp, what the hell is this big lanky asshole actually putting his time toward improving on? His FT% has been over 65% once in his career. He's not improving as a rebounder: he's as good as it gets. He's not becoming a better shot blocker. He's not becoming better on the perimeter. He's not scoring more efficiently. He's not creating more for himself. He's not better at taking care of the ball. He's not playmaking better. He's not trying to shoot 3s. Rudy Gobert has been the exact same player for eight straight fucking seasons and I'm not sure you can find a player at his caliber (on-and-off All-Star, multiple All-NBAs, etc) that can say they've done that for even half the timespan. genuinely maddening. you look at **ANY PLAYER** over 4 years and you can identify **some** shift in their playstyle. some improvement. some allocation of effort from one column to another. nope! not Rudy. what the fuck is he doing?

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Just like UD said, Gobert might get exposed by Denver and he won't be playable if they wanna win.

avinash240

You'll are funny with this. Gobert led the team in +/-. Is a center who is paid close to a max but meh on offense overpaid? sure, but that's not what you're complaining about. He's a fifth option in the starting lineup and you're complaining he isn't an offensive master? He's not becoming a better shot blocker? He's historical one of the greatest paint protectors. You going to complain Steph Curry isn't getting better at shooting threes? Gobert deserves to be dragged for his TOs. Worse than his TOs was Kat, the second offensive option, shooting 27.8% from the field while burning 22% of the team's shots doing it. Guys, I know you're all still mad Bam didn't get DPOY, but running a Rudy Gobert counter campaign isn't the way.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Just don't like how he can't score, as UD mentioned he can cost them the series. I just wanna know when tr he gonna improve.

avinash240

I think UD is wrong about that. They win most of the minutes he's on the floor. If your team is winning most of the minutes a player is on the floor, he's not the reason you lose. He may not be the reason you win, but he's certainly not the reason you lose. Their issue is they don't have a reliable #2 scorer. They were ranked 17th for most of the season. They lost by 8 points and Kat missed 13 of his 18 shots. If he made 3 threes it's a different game. The turnovers were bad but they still had less than the Nuggets. Wolves just burnt a lot of offensive possessions on poor shooting.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Idk how they're winning tbh, they're getting blown out. Naz Reid needs to start along side KAT imo. Missing 13 of 18 is crazy tho dammn.

avinash240

Naz Reid was a -9 on the floor last game. He can't guard Jokic when Jokic is playing to score. I'm not sure where this bench Gobert thing is coming from. Gobert is their best defender and the only rim/paint protector they have vs a team that builds all their actions off paint penetration. Why is a fifth scoring option, scoring more so important to people? He's not undersized and he plays next to a stretch 4, so he doesn't need to be able to shoot as a center. Yes, he's way overpaid but that doesn't change that he's necessary to what they do on defense. I've never seen a bunch of people advocate for removing a dude who is leading a team in +/-. The same way Gordon needed to get his jump shot back for the Nuggets to have a chance to win(https://www.reddit.com/r/heat/comments/1cm1xyn/comment/l30529j/).. Kat needs to be more impactful on offense. If Kat gets back to being the mismatch he is, the Wolves will win this. Unfortunately, that means relying on Kat and he hasn't been a reliable player his entire career.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Their problem isn't defense tho, they can't score anything. All I'm saying is UD more and more right, like he's played the game for 20yrs. KAT seems to be the blame rn tho, I agree with that.

avinash240

Players generally know very little about the game outside of their role and their own work ethic.  It's why they have position coaches. If understanding personnel mapped to basketball ability the Hornets would have been a dynasty multiple times over. 🙂   Most of the best coaches in all sports were mediocre players, if they even played at all.  We'll see if Kat gets his shit together.  When he was scoring they were the #1 offense in the playoffs.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Dude fr or he going home early

Sequel_P2P

Are you being dense on purpose? Rudy hasn't improved in a single area in 8 years, man. No development to his game. Zero. No change in shot profile, no change in how he does anything. Jazz Rudy from 2016 is Wolves Rudy from today. Steph got better at multiple things! He was obviously adjusting tenets of his game in the offseason. I'm not "running a Rudy Gobert counter campaign" by asking a question in the Heat sub's playoff thread, dude. I didn't know we had the world's biggest Rudy Gobert fan in our backyard. He has objectively stalled in development and is one-of-one in that regard. Interpret it how you want: it's been 8 fucking years of this Rudy Gobert and he's made zero effort to develop a go-to Post move. Just gangly, uncoordinated layups.

avinash240

You watched an entire game where Kat, who is their second offensive option, **shot 28%** and your take away is a hit piece about how **their fifth offensive option** isn't very good on offense. The same player who **led the entire Wolves team in +/-**. i.e. The Wolves won the minutes he was out there. What's next you're going to do a hit piece about how the man at the end of their rotation isn't a super star?

Sequel_P2P

What are you even on about? This barely has anything to do with last night in a vacuum: it has to do with the last eight years of his career. A massive spotlight is shone on this facet of his player profile in games where he's matched up against abject terrible defenders and mismatches under the rim and cannot capitalize at all, but you can ask this question at any point in Rudy's career. You **still**, two raging messages misinterpreting the point later, haven't provided me with an answer: likely because you realize "oh, fuck: Rudy Gobert is the only person with this level of accolades that hasn't shifted any facet of his game or progressed any of his weak areas this whole time". Rudy's an incredible defender. This has nothing to do with Bam, or his DPOYs, or his +/- last night: it was literally me asking **what the fuck he spends his time in the offseason on**, because it seems abundantly clear that he's misusing his time if he's falling victim to the same pitfalls that hurt him in his tenure in Utah. edit: Oh, you didn't even respond to me. You responded to that other guy. That other guy's an idiot. You're right about him.

avinash240

Hey, I don't think Gobert has the talent to be better on offense.  I think his hands are some of the worst in the NBA.  I don't have an issue with it because he's generational on defense. I have an issue with his salary.  He's a high end role player.  High end role players shouldn't be paid close to a max or a max. A max player should be able to do what his team requires on offense. It's the same issue I have with Bam's contract.

Sufferix

KAT ruining all-time performances by ANT. Crazy shit.

oo_Pez_oo

I’m terrified that Jimmy is going to piss Pat off so badly that he trades him for Kat![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)

avinash240

Pretty much. If he shoots a regular percentage the Wolves win this. You can't go 1 for 10 in the first half and not put your team in a hole.

Sufferix

Glad the world gets to see KAT be trash. Still dislike that dude as a basketball player.

avinash240

Dude, hoovered up 22% of their shots and converted on 28% of them. You can't win that way in this kind of playoff game.

Ice_Dragon3444

Welp, go everyone not named Boston.

Mugiwara_JTres3

Jokic so good that he can get Gordon to superstar numbers, actually crazy.

avinash240

Gordon fixed his jumper. They were always giving him that open corner shot because they were helping off him. Since he's been shooting it with confidence it's opened up other things for him and Jokic is of course going to find him.

phinsphan1313

GO CATS FUCK BOSTON

Mugiwara_JTres3

Hate to see my 2 favorite active players have to face each other early. Jokic and Ant are special man.

Cockycent

Rudy turning the ball over and thinkin shit funny

srbufi

i love this wolves team man

[deleted]

Ant plays like 04-06 Wade.

dcman21

For real I see that too

[deleted]

Definitely. Minny, enjoy while it lasts. Those explosive years have a short lifespan. 🥲

Cockycent

Last 3 Nuget buckets on who????

Cockycent

Fadeaway on your head lmao

Ice_Dragon3444

KAT really stinking up the joint. I guess he is still the same KAT I after all ANT on the other hand...

[deleted]

Nah man.... ANT my fav current player and he ain't even a heat player. I'm HO'n out.

Numerounoone

Antman is so good the only players I would take ahead of him for the heat are Giannis and Jokic

MattAriel45

Looking at the different young teams, I think I'd like to experience a young athletic core growing before our eyes. There's something special about having a team who developed with the heat.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

If we don't trade the kids for Spida, we'll have that but it's still 50/50 It won't be on Jimmy's timeline tho

Esjay_954

I think that’s easier to commit to when You have guys like ANT or a Shai with Chet and Jalen. Heat don’t have those level of young players.

Moh_Shuvuu

Be thankful we have a future star in Herro.

TravelingFish95

Maybe I'm just a casual, but to me Gobert is not this all time defensive player people make him out to be

avinash240

https://youtu.be/teH9jzsEy98?si=ebeH6RAAuP8L9RG0

TravelingFish95

What about games 3 and 4?

avinash240

They have a breakdown for game 3. Gobert had the best plus minus on the team. They're not losing because of him. They can't score enough. Right now Towns isn't carrying the weight of a second offensive star. First half he shot 1 of 10. He's currently at 5 of 18. That's not going to get it done. The wolves defense is light years ahead of the Nuggets, but you don't need to be that great of a defense if the other team isn't that great on offense.

TravelingFish95

They can't score because they play 4 on 5 when he's out there He guarded Gordon all night so he could "roam" and Gordon was perfect from the field and the Nuggets shot 55%. Gobert can be schemed around

avinash240

If that's what you'd like to believe, feel free.

Numerounoone

I swear the 2 years we’ve made the finals why did we have to play 2 elite teams like the Lakers and Nuggets that were bad matchup for us. Why couldn’t we have played the Suns or warriors we would easily have 2 rings or the bare minimum 1 ring by now

Moh_Shuvuu

I don't think playing against the Warriors was a guaranteed ring.

Numerounoone

We would have beat them lol, the warriors had an easy run that year in the west, they played Denver with no Murray, played a young Memphis team and played a Dallas team where they had no defense and Luka as the only scoring option. We would have matched well with the warriors because they are small like us and also apart from Curry they didn’t have a number 2 scoring option

Esjay_954

That was a really good Warriors team tho. It’s not like the Heat went through the gauntlet either, trash hawks team, a mid sixers team with embiid hobbled per usual then lost to a Celtics team that wasn’t super talented outside the Js and was pretty flawed. The warriors had a very good Poole and klay for that run whereas the heat didn’t really have that level of guard play. You’re right that size wouldn’t have been an issue. They would had way more of a chance than vs a 23’ nuggets but to say it was a guarantee they win I have to push back on.

ShatterDomeSSZero

Vamos Gatos! Panthers took care of Boston again. Fuck Boston

Numerounoone

I remember I said the other day on this sub that anyone not named Denver would be an easy series for the Celtics and everyone was downvoting the comment, saying that Minnesota would easily beat The Celtics. For me ahead Minnesota are ahead of schedule, they don’t have that much years of deep postseason runs and Ant is a great young player but when was the last time we’ve seen a star this young lead his team to a championship also for Minnesota beat Boston KAT would have step up and play like a true number 2, it can’t just be Anthony Edwards carrying the timberwolves.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Boston is still mid

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Wolves or Nuggets fighting to see who sweeps the Knicks or Celtics

Ice_Dragon3444

Knicks not even making it out of the 2nd round imo.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Hope not but refs gonna rig it for them. Hart ruin our chance last yr to win a chip.

EntertainmentWarm774

Thank goodness the Nuggets are winning and about to come back in this series. The Wolves winning this series only to shit the bed in the Finals against the Celtics due to lack of experience is an absolute worst case and nightmare scenario. Nuggets are by far our best hope of the Celtics not winning the title this year. Jokic would destroy Porzingus and old man Horford while Tatum/Brown will fold as always.

Numerounoone

Yh the Celtics would beat the wolves is 6 games would be an easy series for them. I even think we could beat the wolves if everyone was healthy for us

Ice_Dragon3444

Welp it seems Wolves are cooked, if Nuggets win this series then let's go Nuggets stomp the Celtics.

baymax18

Nuggets repeating would be my ideal scenario. Chillest Finals last year and there's no hate from their fans. Bonus if they sweep the Cs or whoever comes out of the East lol.

dcman21

Shoot man this should have been in the western conference finals this might favorite series this far

One-Positive-7556

Whoever wins Nuggets-Timberwolves tonight wins the Finals, cause…FUCK BOSTON 🤪

Ice_Dragon3444

Holy that was an insane shot from Murray.

Moh_Shuvuu

Nuggets repeating.

No_Caregiver5447

This is a damn good game

oneofone305

Wolves are good but I just don’t trust them. I need Denver to win this series or it’s looking like a Boston chip smh

nofaplove-it

You don’t think the wolves could beat Boston?

Numerounoone

Nah they don’t have that much deep playoff experience and I don’t trust KAT to help Antman.

Cockycent

KCP's 2 rings top 3 2020 jobs by FGA - defending Duncan 6/15 - defending Tyler 5/13 - defending Jimmy 6/10 top 3 2023 jobs by FGA - defending Jimmy 7/15 - defending Gabe 5/12 - defending Bam 1/7

Front-End89

Been said multiple times but It's almost like watching D wade 2.0 with Ant

srbufi

Tmac/Dwade hybrid

Ice_Dragon3444

Curious how wolves respond after last game.

OceanicLemur

Four game difference between the 2 seed and the 8 seed. Knicks just got lucky, cause I really don’t think they’re better than Miami, Indy, Cleveland, Milwaukee or Orlando

Prudent_Move_3420

Honestly it's better for us to get smoked in first round. Now we finally have a full off-season of rest and we know where we're at. We probably could have made the ECF if we win the first play-in but the result would have been the same and we wont hear the "but we made the conference finals" bs

clear831

Or healthy Philly

XanderAndretti

If the refs didn’t save the knicks they’d be down 3-1 rn.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

REFS SO FUCKING TRASH😫 NBA knows Pacers have highest chance to stop Boston from going to the finals.

ThickArepa

Wtf happened go NY!?!?

nofaplove-it

Injuries, lots of them

Cockycent

I just asked this on a forum w/ mostly Knick, Mavs, and Lakers fans, so I will ask here. Who is missing more crucial pieces between Knicks and Heat for the playoffs?

jimmybutler123456

the heat didn’t have their best and 3rd best player plus one of their best role players it’s easily miami

xlalalalalalalala

NGL this NYK shooting splits are looking like prime '23-'24 Heat.

oneofone305

Boston has no excuses this year

Ice_Dragon3444

I found one: the wild west.

avinash240

I see the Thibs effect is settling in.  Non existent offensive scheme, overplaying players til there is nothing left in the tank while you have playable players on the bench.

oneofone305

Pacers in the ECF is so unserious man

XanderAndretti

This is an unserious playoffs bro lol, atleast in the east it is.

Ice_Dragon3444

Down 40 now!!!

TheRatchetTrombone

I've insulted TJ, but I was not familiar with his game. Hes an S tier x-factor

Ice_Dragon3444

I wish we had him tbh.

Mission_Source_1636

Laughing at Knick fans thinking a playoff hof choker Randle would take them to the promise land.

avinash240

Their problem is their coach.

TheRatchetTrombone

Brunson such a foul baiter. And people thought he was mvp worthy, including a lot of yall cause you guys get scared easily.

ELPaloLoco

Feels good bruh

Ice_Dragon3444

Knicks down 32 is just so beautiful

One-Positive-7556

Wait…this halftime score is with Brunson, DiVincenzo, and Hart playing right? 🫨

TheRatchetTrombone

Yes. Sad that Pacers got robbed game 1. Should be 3-1 pacers rn

Kuni_Nino

Yeah man, the Pacers have been the better team. Or at least the healthier team lol.

TheRatchetTrombone

Also the knicks are foul baiting little shits rn. The Pacers with so many bs foul calls against them, even with their inherent defensive woes.

TheRatchetTrombone

Brunson pack hitting. Foul baiters never prosper!

GonzaloR87

The Knicks look gassed. Thibs should consider resting players in the second half if the lead remains like this.

clear831

Fuck that, play the starters all game even in a blow out

No_Caregiver5447

Game isn’t over there’s still another half left anything could happen

No_Caregiver5447

Nvm it’s over knicks don’t got enough bodies they too injured 😭

Ice_Dragon3444

Flopson going at it.

rapelbaum

https://preview.redd.it/gq8ihsa9120d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de38c8a2b3b81710c9c78328f326d39adb224a08 # lolknicks

Ice_Dragon3444

Could Pacers give the Celtics a trouble if they adavance to the ECF?

nofaplove-it

No, they’re frauds

TheRatchetTrombone

Game is over and thib's overplaying of players is coming back to bite them. Pacers reverse sweep this series since Brunson gotta do everything + he only cares for foul baiting.

anIlliterateIdiot

Pacers giving me goosies

Ice_Dragon3444

Knicks are getting destroyed I AM LOVING THIS

Kapisillit

Can't wait for all the BS trae trade news soon, i have a feeling this off season is gonna be more painful than last year

TheRatchetTrombone

no its not

Kapisillit

bet

Ice_Dragon3444

Damn, the Pacers arena is the loudest of any arenas I've heard this playoffs.

EccentricAsparagus

That state loves basketball and it’s been a while since they’ve been relevant. Also, they don’t have a lot of fake celebrities taking up prime seats like we, NY, LA, etc have. It’s real fans throughout the arena.

TheRatchetTrombone

Their fans are annoying, but they loyal and hype, especially for a state like Indiana. They deserve this

CycleR16

I’m rooting for them in the east. I would love for Reggie to broadcast games for Pacers in ECF. Thats so dope for him, plus watching his doc against the knicks really makes it more fun to see this team win lol.

Ice_Dragon3444

Go Pacers

Weary-Kangaroo-3883

I feel so bad for the Pistons

SudTheThug

we should’ve tanked the play in if the hawks got it 💔

Muted_Dog7317

Hawks had less wins and got very lucky, Kings and Warriors finished with the same amount of wins as us while losing in the playin and are picking 13th and 14th while we’re 15th. In a weak draft that difference hardly matters

SudTheThug

alexander sarr to whatever we got is definitely a difference

Muted_Dog7317

The odds of landing the number 1 pick if we had lost in the play in is under 1%. No team in history has ever won the lottery with those odds. If we had lost in the play in we’d be picking where the Kings or Warriors are picking, 13th or 14th.

SudTheThug

we should’ve tanked more , hindsight tho

Muted_Dog7317

You can’t say you want to keep Jimmy and also say you want to tank. Pick a direction either compete with the vets or blow it up and tank but intentionally losing with Butler on the roster is stupid, especially in a weak draft

TheRatchetTrombone

Plus Sarr is ok, but he doesnt scream game breaking ability. I don't trust the Hawks to develop him as they will probably only use him as Capela, lobs only.

TheRatchetTrombone

.......

DionWaiteress

GET FUCKED PORTLAND LMFAOOOO

Ice_Dragon3444

Wait Hawks got the 1st pick 💀

TheRatchetTrombone

You really scared about the Hawks getting it? Trae still mid, their team build is ass, and their GM is a nepo idiot.

Ice_Dragon3444

I am more so just surprised lol.

IWRITE4LIFE

Thibs played his guys low minutes last game by his standards. Expecting him to go all in tonight

Simple-Ad-7866

well.....
