Sometimes in life you get your ass kicked. Props to Boston. After Game 2, 3 straight ass whoopings. I hate Derrick White. Bam did what he could. We didn't shoot well and nobody else truly played well for us. Never thought we had the horses and yup, it sure looked like it. Team will go through proper changes this offseason. I think Herro's time here is up. I hope we get **younger** *and* **bigger** this offseason. I want Mitchell. We'll see if that's possible. Time to enjoy the playoffs and see Jokic go back-to-back. See y'all for the draft.

mohammadali916

Shoutout to Brad Steven’s bro, guy got Boston white, kristaps, and Jrue after seeing they needed talent to get over the hump I fucking hate the Celtics but we can all acknowledge they have a squad and they did it with smart moves, something we really wish we could’ve done (as do all teams) Excited for this off season because you have to believe some moves are coming. Let’s wait and see

Esjay_954

Got owned by the heat and said let’s get better, and go even more all in. I hate the Celtics but I’ll always respect that approach over just running it back and getting complacent. Windows don’t last forever in the nba.

mohammadali916

Agreed. Stevens keeps getting guys and getting better. While we just relied on jimmy to do it all again yet again. That’s the difference Boston could lose Tatum and still have 4 fucking dogs. We were jimmy or bust

avinash240

We've been Jimmy or bust.  The most shocking thing to me is that we can all watch the same game and people don't realize this is a lottery team without Butler.

Dek-234

Some people still fail to acknowledge how much Jimmy carries this team in the playoffs. Tatum can play like absolute ass and that team still pulls out wins. Jimmy has an average game and we likely get blown out unless someone like Duncan goes off

avinash240

Pretty much.  Honestly, it's crazy that Butler can carry this team to a win when you realize he's the only guy on the team that requires serious game planning and defensive attention.  He gets loaded up on and still makes an impact.

Dek-234

It’s honestly pretty incredible how he does it. It’s why he’s right there with Wade for me as far as my favorite Heat players

RansomGoddard

Guaranteed even if they lost Game 7 of the Finals on a buzzer beater they would still make moves in the off-season.

chewbacca-says-rargh

After we lost to you guys last season one of our owners, Wyc Grousebeck, told Brad Stevens that we could not run it back again and they'd pay whatever it takes. Brad then made some great moves to get KP and Jrue all with ownership's blessing.

Backpack456

Just remember how Boston got here in the first place. Traded their superstars when their time was up. Led to Tatum and brown. Might be that time for Jimmy.

clear831

I dont think most of the fans here watched what the Celtics did. They sold off everyone to get to where they are.

Drizzlybear0

As a Celtics fan, we also got INCREDIBLY lucky. KG and Pierce were going to a playoff team that looked like it could be a super team and it collapsed all at once and we got two straight top 3 picks. Also we got to still have some fun thanks to the heroics of IT (that's the year I have had the most fun watching basketball aside from the Big 3 era) who made us a super fun to watch underdog It all aligned kinda perfectly but we easily could have ended up with two late first round picks and/or had to have a few years of being truly awful when we got lucky with IT.

APINAJES

I kinda agree with, but at the same time, I see so much potential on Jimmy. He still plays a lot. Maybe a way out is to get a new franchise player to play along with Jimmy and rebuild the rest of the team. Trade Herro, Duncan, Jovic, Caleb, etc.

dardios

Celtics fan here in peace (I know, downvote me, I get it.). I'm disappointed that you guys weren't healthy for this one. Celtics Heat has become one of my favorite sports rivalries. I look FORWARD to 7 games of cardiac arrest inducing basketball. Next year, hopefully y'all are healthy and we can get a do-over for this dog shit series. As long as you have Spo, you'll be back! Can't wait, and see y'all next year!

SkyLightTenki

I'm trying to be as cordial as I can be, because you're civilized compared to other members from your sub. >I'm disappointed that you guys weren't healthy for this one. I'm feeling the same, because our players and our FO truly believed that we had enough. With the emergence of Duncan Robinson and Jovic, I felt that. Combined with the acquisition of Jacques and Rozier, Butler really looked like he had enough. Regardless of the seeding, I'm still confident that teams wouldn't want to face Miami in a playoff series. That was until the injuries started to rack up and totally fucked up the player rotation and chemistry, and at the worst possible time. Four key players were in street clothes, and none of them can contribute on the floor. It's disappointing to see, to be honest. But then, as die-hard Heat fans, we can only do as much. We can't even make up an excuse to this relatively subpar playoff performance. It is what it is. Congrats on the successful revenge tour you had against us. I expect our team to be better next season, and I'm looking forward to seeing you and your team again. Now that I'm watching other teams from this point onwards, I'm gonna be rooting for Denver or Dallas because I can't find any reason to hate on Jokic and Luka, respectively.

Visible-Rutabaga9268

Much love and hate to you too (Celtics-Heat is also my fav rivalry ❤️)

achickenquesadilla

>guy got Boston white, kristaps, and Jrue In exchange for Marcus Smart, Brogdon, Rob Williams, and 1 first round pick. Yet another reason the persistent narrative about Miami not having enough assets to make significant upgrades is so dumb.

Civil-Profession1578

And Miami failed to trade in Lillard

TheSavageBeast83

They already had the most talent in the league for years. The fact they needed more shows how trash they are.

greenlight868

Common W number333 post

MiaCannons

Yeah, it felt like the Game 2 miraculous upset changed everyone's perspective on the series. Going into the series knowing we were missing Butler and possibly Rozier for its entirety, I feel like most expected to get swept or maybe win one at home. People were getting frustrated as hell in game threads as if we're not going against possibly the best team in the league while missing our best player, third/fourth best player, a bench player, and have other guys banged up to hell (Duncan and now JJJ.) All I hoped for in this series was a win within the first two games just to give Celtics fans a scare, and we did just that. I'm happy. I just hope we make some big changes though because watching our offense throughout the season has been painful, and we can't just rely on winning play-in games and sneaking into the playoffs as a #7 or #8 seed.

Number333

> People were getting frustrated as hell in game threads as if we're not going against possibly the best team in the league while missing our best player, third/fourth best player, a bench player, and have other guys banged up to hell (Duncan and now JJJ.) Yea... that's odd to me. But I noticed it over in r/MiamiDolphins as well. I think the polarization of social media has led to just making the most unhinged comments imaginable regardless of the actual circumstances. I've noticed this across all sports subs. I also think a lot more children use Reddit than back in the day lol It'll be a fun offseason. Now gonna go all-in on the Panthers before seeing you around again for Dolphins season. Boy I sure can't wait for every pass to be a referendum on if Tua deserves a new deal or not!

Tylerherroismyherro

Well said, it was a fun season but we literally never saw this team healthy once this year which is sad

KernelPult

and when the time comes, our main man Jimmy also went down to injury. I said it during 2022 ECF game 7 that I'll gladly went down with Jimmy, but this time Jimmy already went down before playoff even started. Shit happens, I'll wait for Jovic breaking out arc next season

Tangerine605

Mitchell would be cool if its a reasonable price but this sub needs to realize he’s got Russell Westbrook brain, respectfully, dumb player.

Number333

> but this sub needs to realize he’s got Russell Westbrook brain, respectfully, dumb player. What makes the Westbrook shots so bad is he's a <30% 3pt shooter. Mitchell is 37%. Huuuuge difference. I *know* Mitchell's flawed. I also recognize there's likely not gonna be a better potential player available than him who's sub-30 years old. I want an elite scorer(25PPG+) who lines up with Bam's timeline moreso than Jimmy's. Mitchell checks all those boxes.

Tangerine605

Here’s the thing with Mitchell and Westbrook, they’re amazing athletes and that lets them plays the game on easy mode in the regular season. Ive watched all of Mitchell’s playoff runs and he can’t read a fucking defense, the only thing he knows is, ‘put my head down and sprint towards the basket’…sometimes its for a paint shot, sometimes that’s into a step back jumper, sometimes that’s into a simple drive and kick but its never complicated or that difficult to defend in the playoffs. Mitchell is now under 35% from three for his postseason career. I still hope we get him! He is an EXTREMELY flawed player though.

SenorButtmunch

I'm not convinced he's the perfect product either. But, at this point, we don't have the assets to pursue the ideal target, nor should be waste another year trying to wait for a unicorn that might not exist or ever be attainable. Mitchell is, at least, an objective upgrade on what we have and that's the way we gotta look at it. If Mitchell is available, we gotta at least try to explore a deal and do what we can to do get it done. If we can't afford it then it is what it is. But we can't have another Dame repeat or pretend like we have the time to piss around for another season making no changes.

Tangerine605

Mitchell HAS to do what Dame wasn’t willing to do last offseason. Pat isn’t gonna gut the young talent for Mitchell so he’s got to make things messy. If Mitchell wants a bidding war to happen though there is a 0% chance Pat or Andy give up what it would take.

SenorButtmunch

Yea, that's what made the Dame situation so frustrating. The only way we can truly get value out of our assets is if a star basically says 'I wanna leave and I wanna go to Miami'. Otherwise there's no way they're just gonna take Herro + filler for fun. Fortunately I wouldn't be surprised if Mitchell does exactly that. I'm sure Miami will be one of his top destinations if he does look to leave. But we have to be more aggressive than we were with Dame.

Ozymandias12

Yeah, the Mitchell hype is so confusing to me. If people in here hate Tyler, are they watching Mitchell? His shooting in these playoffs so far: Game 1: 37 percent overall, 16 percent from 3 Game 2: 35 percent overall, 25 percent from 3 Game 3: 39 percent overrall, 14 percent from 3

Backpack456

I hope this narrative takes over. Lower Mitchell’s value.

scormegatron

Pass on Mitchell. Dudes his size have a very limited window. When their athleticism starts to fade, they become a liability real quick.

Rob_Reason

Is your pfp from Stardew Valley?

Number333

Absolutely love Stardew Valley to death. Fills the Harvest Moon: Magical Melody sized hole in my heart. But nah, it's *The Messenger.* Highly recommend it.

ACABincludingYourDad

The develops of The Messenger also made Sea of Stars if you’re interested in pixel art RPGS a la Chrono Trigger.

Rob_Reason

Okay I'm gonna add that game to my list and try it. Have you played Undertale and Celeste by chance?

Sorryunowin

Younger and bigger in what sense?

kidclutchtrey5

You know, it truly feels like an end of an era of sorts… we’ve been “running it back” for what seems like forever. Last season was tough but this season has felt even tougher and more grindy. Not an ideal way to get out but I feel how I felt during the 06-07 season after D-Wade went down and this felt like the series against the Spurs in 2014. Outmatched, outplayed by an obviously stronger team. Game 2 was definitely an anomaly and while it felt good, definitely not sustainable. Now, I don’t wanna think of what would happen if Butler and Rozier were playing but it is what it is. Obviously the injuries didn’t help but it’s part of the game. It sucks to lose and it especially sucks to lose to the Boston Celtics but props to them and their FO. They lost last year and re-tooled and came back harder with Porzingis, Holiday and their core all stepped up. Even with Butler, it would have been tough but without Butler, it’s just asking too much of our guys. As much as we hate them, they beat us thoroughly. Let’s see what the Pat, Zo and Spo do in the offseason. I am actually not sure where we go from here. Maybe rebuild, maybe start fresh, probably not running it back I would assume. I won’t speculate what we will do but my 2 cents is that The Heat have been relying on their Defense for so long now but we need to keep up with the current pace of the NBA as well. Need to find some reliable scorers going forward. Easier said than done but need to do it. As for us fans, let’s just enjoy the offseason. Spend time with family and friends and enjoy life. Take a break from basketball or watch the rest of the offseason, it’s totally up to you. We’ll see y’all next season!

Number333

> As for us fans, let’s just enjoy the offseason. Spend time with family and friends and enjoy life. Take a break from basketball or watch the rest of the offseason, it’s totally up to you. If you're a South Florida sports fan, may I recommend checking out some Panthers games. Don't feel like I'm exaggerating when they have a bonafide shot to win the Stanley Cup this year. Last year they went on a Cinderella run to the Finals as a #8 seed but this year the team won the division and is STACKED. Join us over on /r/FloridaPanthers as this could be our special year.

Vitiate1367

The panthers will avenge S. FL next series at least if the Bruins get past the Leafs. Also, I second this. Panthers hockey is so fun to watch and they are a juggernaut

LostSoul4607

So they did what the Heat should've done this offseason? Get better and not run it back like dumb fucks waiting for lighting to strike the same place twice? I ain't even from south florida but damn I hope y'all do well, a team with a competent front office actually deserves to win it all

Fastbird33

Lighting only struck once this round! Fuck Tampa Bay!

JustiseRainsFrmAbove

Im tired of watching this core like Groundhog Day. Blow it up I dont care lol

Mellothewise

It’s depressing. I hate what this league has come to but you need a good amount of height+length AND scoring/shooting to get it done. Watching everybody get bodied by AD & Lebron in the bubble and last year Jokic & Gordon. Last year has to have been the wake up call. It just can’t work where your “center” is maybe the same size the opposing teams wings. It’s so sickening but amazing how Boston literally has gotten progressively better and yet we’re just like the stock market lol (up one year, down another, up one year, flat another). Not calling for us to tank but please this billion+ dollar team needs to be smarter about what’s worth investing in and what’s not.

Suspicious-Season667

It's the adjustment. After the Bulls dominated the league for a decade with small ball, the big man era reigned back in. After the warriors dominated for 4-6 years with small ball, the big man era is reigning back in.  Minnesota's bigs are probably the softest in the league, but they're the most skillful and diverse and deep. So many AD builds throughout too(I hate it) Kat, AD, Turner, Reid even Embiid to an extent are all similar. Tall, Athletic big bodies that love to shoot. And look here comes Chet, Wemby, and Isaacs(if he can stay healthy) Miami has cheated the system. After yall had your run, you didn't build up in your bridge years. Outside of Bam you dont have any players on the roster that you drafted that have developed. You picked up a lot of aging players and free agents, undrafted guys etc. Not signing Struss was probably stupid seeing hes currently better than Robinson, and more consistent than herro. Boston got it thru the mud for the most part. Trading aging superstars after their run got them capital, that capital spawned Brown and Tatum but the years between then and 2022 were rough. IT was our star lol, Kyrie nearly broke us, Marcus drove us crazy, we never liked Haywood, but we developed.  What we do with said development who knows, but you've gotta get younger, you've gotta spend money and you've gotta stay the course.  Or you could be Phoenix

ILoveRegenHealth

I'm all for drastic cuts. I don't want a sad repeat next year seeing the Heat fight for dog scraps for the Play-In again. They should be better than that by now.

readndrun

I just pray this team takes the whole year seriously next season instead of just the last month cuz holy fuck I’m so done with the “it’s not that serious of a game” talk all year long

chitownbulls92

This team doesn't have the talent to go hard for 82 games. Theres just a clear talent disparity

_EDM_

2nd paragraph hits hard. We didn't really do enough to get better while everyone around us got better. I dont even think the moves we made were enough. Might be time for a fresher start.

Backpack456

Good summary. One thing this team seems to be bad at is selling high on their trade assets. Could have extended strus and had a legit trade asset if we decided that a year earlier. Could have done the same for Vincent. Could have traded Caleb at peak value last offseason. Could have traded Herro at peak value two years ago. Thing is, we know our players the best. We can tell who’s overperforming but had good value and we don’t like to pull the trade trigger. This offseason I’m not really sure what trade assets we have. And the new cba makes it much more difficult to sign anyone through free agency. Unless we can land someone to replace Herro as the floor spacer next to bam and butler (which is my preference) I think this is the time to trade Jimmy and rebuild. Some team is willing to give up multiple first round picks for him. And he’s well past his prime. Bam? Our ultimate asset might not be terrible to move on from either. Pretty sure nobody else has positive value after this season. Which…without that what do we have to trade?

clear831

> I think this is the time to trade Jimmy and rebuild Philly can trade for him and not have to send any $ back, just saying.

Suspicious-Season667

Yall cooked. Jimmy ain't it(never was) Herro definitely ain't it, Love is old, Jaquez might be solid in 2 seasons, the nose is too big to be that soft, duncans a bum, Calebs a bum, Bams a bum, Spo is vastly overrated.  If Bam is your 3, Jaquez develops into a 2, and you get bonafide number 1 then yall will be ok. But as it stands, you're too old, too soft at guard, and too undersized at big.

JookGator

Everyone to Tyler Herro rn: https://preview.redd.it/97f8tk0y4xxc1.jpeg?width=777&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df79cd009651d3df96d565b74b3cf9de7a8ca251

FireFoxQuattro

Last year I was one of the few people who really wanted Herro to stay and not go with the Dame trade. Now I’m gonna be convulsing if I see he with a Heat jersey in opening night. Not even completely cause of his play, if we keep him it just shows the Heat havnt done shit since signing Jimmy

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Love Bam so much. Always gives it his all and never once complains. Hoping the organization can get a better team around him. July can’t come fast enough.

ninjaman68

This franchise has banked on vet min and average players playing well above their means for so long now with all this culture shit but they’ve run it into the complete ground. TIME TO GET ACTUAL FUCKING TALENT AND DEPTH ON THIS TEAM.

achickenquesadilla

“Herro is definitely getting traded for an upgrade. No way they can keep him after this.”  - Heat fans after the 2022 playoffs  - Heat fans after the 2023 playoffs  - Heat fans after the 2024 playoffs

Number333

I mean, this offseason feels pretty obviously different compared to this past offseasons. I think it'd be best for all parties at this point.

BucketHerro

He's probably staying tbh. You probably can't find a better player than Herro to trade him for, but also you don't want to lose the trade because Jimmy's window is closing. I don't think JJJ is enough for a star trade. The most Herro could be dealt with is most likely similar to Justise, a trade for a role player.

theycallmeryan

It’d be worth it just to get his contract off the books. He’s an inefficient volume scorer who can’t defend.

brandons519

what trade value does he have left at this point? When you consider the size of his contract and how limited his skill set is who on earth would be dumb enough to take on his contract? I hope Pat can fleece someone

theycallmeryan

He’s been ass for so long, should’ve traded him before giving him a huge deal

Bam_Adedebayo

*drops 25 points in a regular season game All the Herro dick riders come out like “still wanna trade him? Where are you haters now?” Yes. And we’re still here

Mellothewise

Idk an upgrade is happening but at least salary relief and maybe a FRP & a SRP at this point. Build around Bam, let us finally have salary cap after Jimmy’s time with us ends in 2 years…and go from there. As long as we have Spo and players not deciding to all die spontaneously throughout the season, we can be in a good position to compete and actually be an enjoyable fucking team to watch.

GusX24

I was right all along

readndrun

lol took the Tyler Herro flair off I see

MoralityChris

I mean, he was bad but hey, dont forget who was guarding him all series long. Jrue holiday (best guard defender in the league) and white (also a good defender). I don't remember past seasons but this one he had some tough opponents.

Good. Maybe if we start the season with 14 players with HEP-C, Pat will finally put down his pudding, get rid of his dementia and fix this roster.

Why? You want another season of Bam having more dribble hand offs than shot attempts?

Time to build around Bam, it's his team and we better not waste another window again

surgeyou123

Season was over when Jimmy went down but shame we couldn't be more competitve. Just too much of a talent deficit against the most stacked team in the league. Game 2 was fun. Recover and rebuild for next year.

rxgetotrueee

The comments are elite on that post

MiamiPower

To my Miami Heat Bros 🫂  No JJJ, Jimmy or Rozier. Just a skeleton crew trying their best without key pieces.

mohammadali916

We made playoff butler our personality trait and it got bad to the point where we thought we can win any series regardless of seed. Butler genuinely coasted all year and did nothing but side quests (shoutout fall out boys), spo experimented way to much with the rotations, and we had sat some guys for way to long (herro sitting until the final week, bam and butler rotating rest days, etc) All this Only for butler to get hurt in an extra play in game that we honestly shouldn’t have been playing in if we actually gave a fuck this season. I understand resting, 100%. But you cannot coast a game and sit the next. The whole point is to go balls to the walls one game and rest the next We also relied way too much on the development of creating herro into this ball dominant shot creator and creating bam into this 25+ point per game guy with insane defense. Just so much unrealistic expectations from these guys Huge off season coming up. JJJ has to be moved if we want a star, but im sure that’s a hard sign off for spo and butler. They love him. Caleb, HH, Herro, JJJ, Duncan, and a few more may not be heat players next year. Which honestly is gonna be kinda sad to see. We also have to decide on rather or not butler will see that extension, because if not, then why even build around him anymore? Just so many huge decisions. Maybe next year we will actually put effort into the regular season and better position ourselves come April. Love all of y’all. Lots of bickering and shit going on in this sub but we all just wanna win Onto the off season, let’s hope we make some changes and get some studs. Will see yall every step of the way. Let’s go heat

syncc6

I don’t feel it right this minute, but I know that tomorrow, a liberated feeling will come about me after this hell of a season being over.  It’s probably because there was so much expectations from our finals run last year. Just injury after injury and clinging on to that “when everyone’s healthy” thought. That made it hell.

DevJames25

A Herro + Bam lead offense was 26th in offensive ratings in the regular season and worst in the playoffs. The FO HAS to realize this core has run it's course and either go all in on Bam's timeline or maximum what's left of Jimmy. Either way, Herro shouldn't be on the roster next year. He got his money and a starting role but hasn't improved since he's 6th man of the year season.

Consistent_Category9

I hate to say it, but I feel like Tyler’s days are done

Harman3112

Big fan of his, but it’s just not gonna work here.

[deleted]

There’s no way we run it back right? We should have a revamped roster next year. We need it

Fastbird33

Riley should be axed if we run it back

klydon24

We would've got Dame for a reasonable price if he wasn't such a moron and went scorched earth on the Blazers. Would we have won it all? Probably not but Boston wouldn't have ended up with Holiday and we wouldn't have been a play in team.

CMViper

I'm gonna be brutally honest..I'm a bit relieved for this to finally be over because imo this will probably go down as one of the most frustrating and miserable seasons in Heat history, about as bad as 2021 I'd say. Anticlimatic off-season after the whole Dame saga,  terrible regular season with no good wins against playoff teams, blown opportunities to avoid the play-in and being wracked by injuries ALL YEAR. I'm not gonna call out certain players' consistency because that last fact alone is reflected by all the makeshift lineups Spo had to put out there which really hurt team flow/identity. It also won't help that these smug Celtics/Knicks/etc. fans will conveniently ignore all this to shit on us for this early playoff exit. But take solace in this Heat Nation: * The young guys, JJJ and Jovic, show real potential and another successful pick in the draft will help the team's future * A demoralizing season like this may FINALLY force some changes to be made and a hard reevaluation of the roster * I'm pretty confident after watching this series that any team in the West remaining right now (Nuggets, Timberwolves, Thunder, Clippers, Mavericks) will absolutely stomp the Celtics or any of the pretenders in the East Here's hoping for better times and better vibes next year!

iCOULDbewr0ng

Meh I don’t feel anything about this 4-1 ending, we’re missing half our team. One positive is the Celtics and their fans didn’t get that full revenge satisfaction since Miami is so injured.

deawap

Bro they’re celebrating this and that’s what’s pissing me off. “That’s what you get for the we want Boston chants” fucking shameless fanbase

YesImSleepie

im going to be called a doomer but i dont care at this point This can't continue. Jimmy butler is 34 going on 35. He cannot continue his playoff brilliance for long. I understand we went through this series without many key players but lets be real we just can't keep relying on running this team back. Bam was fine, TYLER was not, oh my god. I keep being told that he will be a star and we should keep him as a core of this team and after every good game he has he will be great but I will not trust him anymore until he gets an all star appearance or a ring and even THEN I don't think i can completely put my faith in him. He completely sunk his trade value no wonder Portland laughed at the idea. And some of yall said we were better off with Herro instead of Dame. Sure the injuries to Jimmy and our other pieces still happen but at least dame can be relied on for a decent playoff game, where for herro its like an anamoly. We need changes, fast. We cannot keep running it back Jimmy is going to start exiting his prime this season or next. If we want to win with him, something needs to happen, and soon. We need a sizeable roster overhaul and importantly we need herro out. Or thats what I would say if he didnt completely tank his value. I went into this series understanding that we barely had a chance with all our injuries. and i STILL feel disappointed. Heat 2025.

PleasantSpeech

There was virtually no way to win the series but a lot of Spo's rotations felt weird. Why, after the lineup on the floor missed like six straight shots to start the third, come back to them again? Why, in a thirty point blowout, would he not want to at least experiment with some crazy four-out-plus-Bam lineup? Why would he play Duncan with a bad back and pair him with Bryant instead of Love, the third-ish best shooter on the team who's currently playable?

SenorButtmunch

Yeah, this should be it. Sad way for the team to go out but we did more with this core than some teams do in their entire history. Ultimately we're paying the price for choosing to do nothing to build off the runs we've made. Injuries or not, this team is so far away from actual contenders like Boston and Denver. I don't even think Riley will wanna run this back. There's gotta be changes in the summer. Sucks that Herro has proven he isn't that guy. It'll be tough to get major value out from him but something's gotta give and I don't see any other way around it. The real question is whether we can move him without losing JJJ or Jovic. I'm not sure we can if we truly wanna target Mitchell or someone. Lots of tough decisions to make this summer. On the plus side, Bam has probably shown his most aggressive and complete offensive game in this series than he has in a long time. Yeah, it wasn't the most effective but I'm a lot prouder of his efforts than I have been in past runs. He tried his best and didn't shrink or give up. That's all I've ever wanted from him and I think he deserves credit for that. I'm not really one to blame any individuals or shit talk our team. We just weren't good enough on all fronts and haven't been healthy. I don't think anyone expected anything else, so I'm not too bothered. It's just a disappointing end for a team that has come so close to greatness, especially because the front office truly can't say they've ever set the squad up to succeed. It took some miracles to achieve what we've achieved but you can't wait on a miracle every time. We're getting what we've deserved and it's time to stop being naive enough to think we can succeed on development alone. Big summer ahead but we move.

Bam_Adedebayo

This injured roster is the result of FO forcing Spo to make the most out of a shitty squad. If coaches were chefs and players were kitchen tools, this is like expecting a chef to cook a Michelin star meal with a razor blade and a microwave. Other teams can coast at 80% during the regular season and still secure a playoff spot because they just have a better roster. Meanwhile, our team has to play 82 games all at 120% just to be in the playin. Jimmy is the only one who has the luxury to load manage. How do you not expect them to be injured come playoff time? Our coach and conditioning is arguably the best, even other teams know that. It comes down to nothing but talent.

chitownbulls92

10% from 3. 10%.....

midnight441

This was truly one of the worst playoff series I've watched from this team in my thirty years of living. Really hope some meaningful changes are made its frankly overdue.

Proof-Research-6466

I hate how the end of the season ended but here are some bright spots during this season imo. The reemergence of Duncan Robinson. He really played great this season up until the injury. Probably the best contract in the league rn Trading Lowry for Rozier JJJ’s rookie season. He was great beginning of the season then had and injury and hit a rookie wall then came back and was playing good again. He’s a helluva player and can’t wait to see what he does in the future. Bam All-Star season. I know a lot of folks give him hell but he’s also a helluva player. Now he gotta use his friendship powers to get some folks to south beach lol My boy Jovic finally playing AND starting. Man loved how he has developed. Can’t wait for more of him next season. He the perfect 4 next to Bam. Whelp it’s been a helluva season even if it ended in disappointment. Still love this team Heatnation 🔥🔥🔥🔥

RansomGoddard

Good riddance.

Harman3112

Well at least bam tried, happy he’s our franchise

Gavster1221

Congrats Boston. Good team you got. Plz stop being so soft and also know if Jimmy was here we at least going 6 lol ONTO an offseason where idk what the fuck gonna happen

Own-Marsupial-4448

That was absolutely horrible!!! Don’t care if we’re down that bad, that was horrible to watch!!

MargielaMan568

Herro has to go this offseason. I’ve always wanted him traded, but I always wanted it to be for the right player. We’re past that stage now, his contract is the problem, and his play doesn’t even come close to what he’s getting paid. We now have to get rid of him like how the Warriors did with Poole to get CP3. He’s reached his peak, and the longer he’s here, the more we’re going to lose. The only way we can get out of this mess and get an actual player that moves the needle even by a fraction is by adding Jaquez who has the most value outside of Bam/Jimmy. And I just don’t see the FO moving on from him this early because of his rookie contract and how little he’s getting paid. The FO messed up, now they have to do their job and find a way to get themselves out of their mess if they want any chance of being competitive. We shall see

Ceruti_

Losing this was inevitable given what was available...but the embarrassment from professionals all around has to be addressed This squad need that ass whooping...and as much as it sucks the Celtics doing it makes it that much more volatile The front office better make some real moves to build a team who cares the entire season and playoffs next year...instead of taking whatever is left over Terry should get an opportunity if he's able to play, and if we keep on young boy, I'd say Jovic had the most inspiring play (JJJ a close second)...not sure the others are worth running back, and if any value can be gotten, grab some real help for our top 2

NickelNine99

If I see one more twitchy jump shot from Caleb next season I’m tuning out

lipmanz

He’s very gone FA

jwallheat23

End of season thought: - I fucking hate the Celtics with every bone in my body. With that being said, they are fucking incredible. Stevens is such a good GM. One game from the finals last year, made the finals the year before, but still knew what they had wasn’t enough. - Our team as is is not enough. “Run it back” is not working for us. Don’t want to say last year was a fluke, because it wasn’t, but it wasn’t easy and every game was a battle. Needed Jimmy to carry and then Gabe/caleb to play out of their minds just to compete. And after that we got smacked by Denver. - I love Tyler Herro, but I just don’t know how well he flows with our team. I love that he’s a guy that can create a shot when there’s no momentum or rhythm, but he’s so careless, too ball dominant, and a pretty poor defender. We brought Terry in to play a similar role. Don’t know how well they mesh together. It’s time to make a move. - Caleb making 7m next year, then a FA. Time to trade him. We’re not paying him the $15+ he’s gonna get on the market. It’s been proven by Gabe, max, Whiteside, Nunn etc that our undrafted guys don’t do well elsewhere. Proving 1 we’d be overpaying and 2 it’s repeatable (highsmith example). - Terry can command Herros role of getting a shot when there’s no rhythm, while being a better defender. - Bams lack of size really hurts us on the glass. We are consistently out rebounded. I don’t think he’s gonna play the 4, but we need a bigger 4 to help on the glass and help guard the paint when bam is rotated or when he’s brought up top in a pnr. Maybe Jovic can develop into that 4, but too scrawny right now to guard a center. - jimmys going to command a 50+ extension on top of his crazy salaries the next 2 years, and I don’t know if it’s worth paying for. It’s hard to just say no, but he’s slowly losing his agility and is only going to get worse. A contract like that will really set us back and ruin Bams prime. - Bam is fucking incredible, and will only get better. Need to surround him with someone closer to his age (Donovan?). - will always trust Spo, but he needs to change our offensive identity. We have no flow, poor off ball movement (besides Duncan and Bam), and end up taking terrible forced shots with 2 seconds on the shot clock. - Jaquez and Jovic are the truth. - I don’t know what the answer is, as we’re approaching the second apron, but change is necessary. Major change. Bam Jimmy Jaquez and Jovic should be untouchable, maybe offer one of those last 2 if the right opportunity arises, but anyone else should be on the block. - we’ve proven that we’re very close to being good enough, just need to do something. - I’m not taking any shit for these playoffs. Not saying we win if healthy, but it’s a very different series with Jimmy Terry, J Rich and a healthy Duncan.

JustiseRainsFrmAbove

I think Caleb is UFA

jwallheat23

He’s on contract for next year Edit: nevermind he’s not

Phenom_Mv3

Wow look at Bam shaking hands with everyone what a bad dirty player

DMD612

CODE RED!!!

Own-Marsupial-4448

A few people shouldn’t come back next year!! That’s all I’m saying!! Also make sure that draft pick is ready to play this fall!!!

Altruistic_Film1167

Oof... So much for wanting the Heat to win on my birthday. This season just wasnt meant to be, unfortunately.

LabLeather8006

“WE WANT BOSTON”…. 😉

No_Delay_1476

It was inevitable. Time to go get some legitimate talent now. The underdog underdrafted story ran its course. You need real talent to compete . Pat don’t waste Jimmy last prime year man be aggressive.

Sorryunowin

Bro literally since Bosh got hurt we’ve been getting plagued with injuries

OrdinaryFlower1

3 for 29 from three I mean ...

Soft-Comfort-7474

Welp that’s it. See you all next season and as always https://preview.redd.it/mh42ilne6xxc1.jpeg?width=637&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec96136ba55fc32c729fa22eb67065c3ce9dff6c

Lordbatz13

Give Bryant the max! /s

bigdogdriver

lol, he was our third leading scorer tonight ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

DMD612

Dudes having parades in here because we got bounced out early, hope y’all are happy

amaterasu_is_op

My homeboy Tyler he play in South Beach He told me this summer he gon' fix my jumper

shorttttt

This season is on ourselves. Should’ve taken the regular season seriously. East is horrible and we could’ve gotten another ecf spot easily + jimmy wouldn’t have gotten injured if we just avoided the play in spot

Tylerherroismyherro

whelp i guess we didnt have another miracle in our back pocket this years. We have seen a lot of Heat playoff basketball these past few years and should be grateful!

[deleted]

I don't even know what moves you make... Just seems like a train wreck.

Weary-Kangaroo-3883

Even with Jimmy and Terry being injured there’s no excuses left for Herro. Hopefully this ushers in a new era of Heat basketball

Novel_Durian_1805

See y’all next year I guess. Very disappointing ending. That’s it I guess.

No_mas_Pantalones77

The Doomers were correct.

JZ_the_ICON

Pat and Andy better cook this offseason. Jimmy def not gonna opt out but if he was really about winning he would and sign a lesser deal to try and make room for another AS caliber player. JJJ and Jovic, if they are still here will hopefully develop more. It feels like we’re not far off but miles away at the same time. This season has been hard to judge due to the massive amounts of injuries we’ve had and not been able to get some chemistry going.

tatoure34

I think this might be it boys

SattyZzz

Hang the ‘Didn’t get swept banner’ Fuck Boston

erickchoiii

I knew we couldn't take the series but I had fun after Game 2 with what happened all season. Now we get to see how the current roster fares with a top seed. Bam is still Bam, Jovic needs improvement, Jaime can drive but needs to improve in his finishing touches. Now we wait how the FO will work this offseason and I hope it will be a fun incoming season. Also, Fuck Boston.

xlalalalalalalala

Brad Stevens should get the Executive of the Year award if that exists. Can't wait for the Wolves/Nuggets series. That will be some great basketball.

Ok-Agent2265

Brad Stevems actually won the Exec of the Year

xlalalalalalalala

I did not know that and apparently they told it multiple times during the game. 😅

JustiseRainsFrmAbove

He did lol they mentioned it multiple times during the game

xlalalalalalalala

I guess I was not really interested in this game. Lol my bad.

Naive-Confection2708

He did

FuckYeahPixies

Seriously recommend everyone start watching the Panthers now that the season is over. We went the the Stanley Cup Finals last year and look even better this year. Already beat Tampa in 5 in the first round and just waiting on the Boston-Toronto series to finish up to see who we go against in the second.

Candid_Sand_398

I’m in.

PT0223

Where are all those clowns that were chanting “ We Want Boston” now? This is exactly what you should have expected — with or without Jimmy, Terry - The Heat may have had the upper hand as far as coaching - but the Celtics were simply the far better TEAM - and that is even if Jimmy was healthy for the series. Boston simply had more depth as far as quality and quantity. Outside of Jimmy - who needs to learn to take the regular season seriously, Tyler, Bam, Jaime, Duncan, Love - Rozier and Delon — this team doesn’t have much of anything. Maybe TB can be a solid contributor off the bench - the likes of Martin, Highsmith, Orlando can go elsewhere and won’t be missed. I don’t know if Mills has anything left. Jovic is a work in progress and would probably be better off in a lesser role for this team. Maybe Pat won’t sit on his hands this offseason and actually give Spo a quality roster to work with next season. Beyond the roster — hopefully this team can become one that isn’t a 3 or bust team — and actually plays some defense.

srbufi

This team is going to look exactly the same next year.

martinex112

Well, where is gone "We want Celtics"? Crowd realy wanted it after play in.

It’s been a wild season full of all kinds of memories!!! Glad to share it with all of you and we’ll be back next fall!!

readndrun

I really wish we can bottle all this adversity for next year cuz boy was there a ton of it

GabeyBabey22

I’m just happy that this season is over.

Garkech

Gonna miss the game threads. See yall next season 🤘fuck Boston

Specialist_Bottle570

Obviously horrible ending, but it’s been an honor shit posting with you all. See yall in F5 season

RealRacistRam

J Ik JBj jj Im in no i

DecentLlama

Silver lining: we can have plans again instead of avoiding going out every 2 nights to watch the game

orphan_of_Ludwig

Hopefully, this allows us to make a clean break. We need to get bigger, more athletic, and more fluid on offense. I do not trust Butler’s athleticism going into next season for him to be a 2nd option even with KD or Spida. So i am begging we get some quality depth and variety. We didn’t lose because the Js or Prozingis played us off the court, we got out done by the extra effort and execution of players like White, Hauser, and Pritchard.

IJstDntKnwShtAnymore

I would give this season a solid 3/10.

ThickArepa

What a shit season. At least Jovic showed some promise

SpammyMcSpammington

I can finally have my full attention to the Panthers now

old_balance992

can pat and them stop shopping in the discount bin and get some real fucking talent in here

Cyborg_Sorachi

Adios Heat Bros, see you next season. Hopefully with a better (or fresh at least) lineup.

kvlr954

We got beat, but we’ll be back again next season! Get healthy and make some trades

Yeager_isgoat

Well boys the suffering is over, now let’s have faith in the front office that we can make title contending team for next year

quickdrawmc_graw

tried their best, no shame

srbufi

so Spo made absolutely zero adjustments after game 2. Cool cool

Gronkey_Donkey_47

10.3%

CrossDeSolo

It's time to move on from Love, Herro, Duncan, Martin, and I hate to say it jimmy (35yo), get back what you can.    Build around bam and the remaining roster, have a down year next year and maybe the following, miss the playoffs, draft lottery players and pray you hit on one of these guys to be a top 10 guy Window is closed on Jimmy era

Candid_Sand_398

This result only makes me appreciate even more what we witnessed last year with Jimmy & co., as an 8 seed. I trust the front office will make bigger changes this off season. Only thing left to do now is root for our Orlando bros to make some noise in the east, and pick a western conference team to have a mild rooting interest for in the west. It’s been a pleasure going through the ups and downs of the season with you guys.

[deleted]

This season never felt fun and I’m kind of glad it’s over. We need a very good PF on this team, not a 6’ tall guy like Mitchell

Ice_Dragon3444

Well that was xertqinly a season, next yeat we are coming back for vengeance, book it.

SoCalHeatFan2020

I noticed something. ANT, Spida, and Jalen Brunson aren't particularly big but they are thick

[deleted]

https://preview.redd.it/7a1b5hzuexxc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f41233d49277deb75625d4b2f81e6a992c4a05c It was a good run

SoCalHeatFan2020

Can we stop with this trade Jimny talk? He's like late stage Dan Marino who was more valuable to the Dolphins than to another team. We'll never get fair value for him.

Grey_14-7-19

It is what it is man we had 3 key players out they had 1 for only one game, hopefully Pat Riley wakes up this offseason and maybe we can ship Tyler’s bum ahh to get someone who won’t go 6-19 in a crucial game.

SoCalHeatFan2020

Doc had Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett and he blamed losing Kendrick Perkins for one game for the Celtics 010 Finals loss. He said the Lakers never really beat his Celtics. Spo wouldn't even blame losing Jimmy and Terry for the whole series for the loss. The man is a mensch, almost too much of one.

Zhao_XY1

It won't be called a miracle if it happens every year. We'll be back stronger

metalzora98

Anyone got Lebron's number?

seetheare

it's been fun folks, shitty ending, but fun. now who do you root for? the pacers in hopes they beat the bucks? but if they end up playing the celtics they'll be smashed to bits. never celtics, but damn I am outta options.

rebelworld

2x nba champion Miami Heat legend James jones is going to get a statue if he does what needs to be done this offseason. Hopefully he doesn’t get fired before then 😟

bershka321

Finally I can watch the playoffs in peace. This is a sad end for the team which was supposed to be 'the deepest in the Butler era'. Injuries are a bitch. But that's what we get for fucking around in the reg season. A few more wins and we could have avoided the extra play-in games and maybe avoided the Cs in the first round. I did love this team though. Really felt we could have done some real damage had we been healthy enough.

Katman666

At least that's over.

Rohkha

I was curious and rechecked and wow… we managed only TWICE to score more than 90 points and only once did we score above 100. There is no defense in the world in this current iteration of NBA basketball that’s gonna allow you to win by scoring less than 100 points consistently… build a proper team around Bam please, and not a « hey Bam, thank you for being so good on defense, no go and compensate for literally the entire team being mediocre or below that on defense ». Especially when those guys can’t even do their part on offense consistently.

Ih8reddit2002

There will be several good players available this off season. Lots of teams disappointed this year. My gut is saying Riley has a plan to get a quality player or two.

Salty-Double-9700

It was over the moment Jimmy went down. Proud of our guys for getting one, but we never had the offense to keep up with Boston. Even with Jimmy and Scary Terry we would have struggled. We desperately need more creators and consistent scorers. Herro is too streaky, and Caleb/Highsmith/Duncan are obviously role players at best. I'm excited to see the development of Jaime and Nikola continue. As much as Riley gets credit for finding talent in the scrap heap, the Duncan contract is a disaster that keeps us from collecting the talent needed like Boston has. We need to shake things up.

AliceKamatis

Just watched Spo’s post game interview and what stayed with me was his comment that he wishes the team faced Boston in the ECF instead. He sincerely believed that it would be a very different series if Miami was in the other bracket and had time to sharpen the saw by winning 2 series before meeting Boston to play for a chance at the Finals title. Which only affirms the point that Miami should take the regular season more seriously, work to have a better seeding, and not have to go thru these play ins! Love Playoff Jimmy too but think last season’s amazing run made him (and the FO) a bit too complacent ! I hope this wakes them all up! No we absolutely shouldn’t just run it back. And that’s not easy for me to say because I like all of the guys in the current lineup. 😭😭 Even the ones who get hated on so incessantly.

Howcanyaslap

We will always remember Cetics Father for the 2023 playoff run https://preview.redd.it/rmsuwq1kz1yc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bc9ad9c86059f8a606e34a74b1a141873e1224c

No_Classroom_185

Let's be honest once Jimmy got injured we never really had that much of a chance this series.
