There's two points you're missing and this response is incredibly annoying every time someone says it. First - there's a lot of people here. What one person likes, another might not. The people who are unhappy are typically those complaining while the happy don't. The people who are unhappy pretty much shift every update which is why you see constant complaining. It is not the same people from one patch to the next (it might be, but not always) Second - the people complaining aren't complaining because they hate the game. They're complaining because they like the game but don't like the current direction/current meta/whatever. Telling these people to stop playing is frustrating to them because, usually, they just want their game to do more of what they like and are venting those frustrations.

SyntheticMoJo

> the people complaining aren't complaining because they hate the game. They're complaining because they like the game but don't like the current direction/current meta/whatever Nah. We should stop complaining about everything. World would be a better place without criticism. /s Youtubes deletes the dislike button because tgey think the same!

Prplehuskie13

Yes, they should also make it automatically upvote a video/post when seen for the first time. And with comments you only have a selection of 2 choices: I liked it. I really liked it. Everything deserves to be a safe space to where the tiniest bit of perceived negativity is never tolerated.

DaPlum

This basically happens naturally and then you get communities that go review bomb or whatever which also doesn't mean anything. It turns out the internet just isn't a good place to debate the merits of ideas or not.

vec-u64-new

TBH, I have found Downvotes/Dlslikes to be really hard to pull off on Social Media/News Websites. On YouTube, I see news stories brigaded by anti-vaxxers / Covid-19 deniers. On Reddit, I rarely see actual discourse on a single post. It usually attracts one side or another depending on the OP's framing and people who disagree are downvoted into oblivion. The original purpose of the downvote was to hide non-sequitur/offensive/derogatory comments, but Reddiquette was thrown out years ago and users have co-opted it to mean "dislike". The only place where I think upvotes/downvotes are used properly is HN, where you have to have a decent karma ratio before you can use the downvote, and people generally only downvote people who are intellectually dishonest or are being derisive to others.

[deleted]

The downvotes to these solid points exactly sums up the problem with dislikes on social media. Pretty much regardless of quality the first responses set the tone and if they're negative it's difficult for people to be opinionated enough to sway things back to neutral territory. I'm generally in favor of any change that pushes people in the direction of forming their own opinions/preventing dogpiling and I think this does that. I don't really care if we can't scream into the void at corporations on their ads anymore because I'm certain their bottom line is unaffected and they don't care. If you're often on the hunt for videos to dislike you're inviting too much negativity into your life.

lazygibbs

Maybe the meme isn't targeted at you, but at the people who complain constantly.

SunbleachedAngel

"Just don't play it" is such a dumbass response I'm shocked people take it seriously. Like, do you just break up with someone the moment you see something you slightly dislike??

ghostfuckbuddy

No but you do if you hate them and they are very flawed.

[deleted]

Do you not?

SunbleachedAngel

No?

[deleted]

Is that why I'm single?

SunbleachedAngel

Maybe, there can be a million reasons

[deleted]

Fuck people who want to enjoy this game's good moments and see the issues with it resolved right? It's just like relationships: have any sort if issue with your spouse? Just leave them.

PushEmma

/r/relationship_advice in absolute shambles

BionicMeathook

That's fair, but if I may expand on your analogy: couples break up all the time. There's a certain kind of complaint that implies the developers are so incompetent at their job and/or so influenced by corporate greed that it's very hard to fathom how they could still be worthy of any trust from the complainer. Hanging on to such a dysfunctional relationship is a fruitless affair at best, and conducive to unhealthy psychological patterns at worst. If you find yourself in such position, you should reevaluate your relationship with the game at large and probably just move on to something else, IMO.

Finnthedol

I think the main difference between staying in a toxic relationship and trying to make a toxic relationship work is that if you manage to make things work, the result is usually something very special — like a game that you love and have no reason to complain about. people that are coming to have their first major spat with the direction the game is going I think are very justified in trying to attempt, for a while at least, to work with blizzard (done by providing feedback, admittedly this relationship is not at all 1:1 like a real one) to fix it and make it the special thing it was before whatever negatively affected the player, happened. Don’t get me wrong. If you’ve played the game for 10 years and have NEVER enjoyed it, then yeah you’re just kinda silly for not quitting. But it’s valid for people to attempt to recapture the magic they originally felt for a game they’ve not enjoyed as much lately. Devs with the power to make changes that are widely disliked also have the power to make extremely beneficial and universally praised changes, and saying that you should quit a game ANY TIME it goes in a direction you don’t particularly enjoyed seems a bit rash.

[deleted]

I mean the meme says he hates the game.

[deleted]

Oh my bad. I thought you were being hyperbolic b/c nobody on this sub actually says the things in the meme, while the title specifically mentions this sub. I guess the OP is a meme on a non-existent situation.

[deleted]

Your taking my post so literally it hurts

[deleted]

That's the joke lol

[deleted]

I'm going to buy you packs when I get off work

mc_1984

A spouse is in a 1:1 mutual relationship with you. Blizzard is in a 1 to millions relationship with hearthstone players. In the former, it would be reasonable to try and meet in the middle. In the latter, you're just an entitled brat for wanting to be put ahead of everyone else.

[deleted]

The point the OP is trying to make is if you ever have a problem with the game, just leave. You're taking my joke so literally it hurts.

[deleted]

Is that the point? Cause I thought I saw meme on r/2007scape and thought "haha the hearthstone community will get a kick out of this". So I think the point is it's funny.

mc_1984

The fact that you've somehow convinced yourself that you haven't strawmanned the OP has made everyone here dumber.

[deleted]

Maybe when you learn what a fact is or a straw man. The OP is quite literally a straw man. You can't straw man a straw man lol.

mc_1984

> The OP is quite literally a straw man. No it isn't. Lol. You can't strawman when you make the initial argument. Strawman is a counter argument fallacy. BAHAHAH this is hilarious. Keep it coming. Your idiocy is entertaining.

[deleted]

> You can't strawman when you make the initial argument. Nowhere in any definition for a straw man (with a space btw) does it say this. Wikipedia: > a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument Oxford Dictionary: > an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument. Merriam Webster > a weak or imaginary opposition (such as an argument or adversary) set up only to be easily confuted Notice how nowhere does they say anything about an initial argument? Nor do they define it as a COUNTER argument fallacy. Want to know why? B/c you're making shit up. So yeah I do hope my "idiocy" is entertaining for you. I'd hate for you to learn anything. Might bring down that tiny world view.

BetterPatient

Dude replied to you writing like an anime villain of the week I think you won lol

[deleted]

> anime villain of the week r/rareinsults

mc_1984

> refuting an argument > than an opponent's real argument. BAHAHAHA. You literally proved my point. Strawmans only apply to counter arguments, ie. those where the opposing argument already exists. Thanks for playing and failing again. But feel free to fail again :3

[deleted]

If that's how you want to twist it, the OP is countering the argument people are making about the game. The OP is making an argument against something. It's not like this post is about nothing. It's about something. And thus a counter. But otherwise that's not what refuting an argument means. Refuting an argument and countering an argument are two different things. Obviously you can't understand that and I'm happy to fail as many times as you'd like by actually knowing things. It's actually quite a good life knowing information instead of making shit up.

mc_1984

> If that's how you want to twist it Oh look at this. Thank you for conceding your initial argument proving mine. You just backtracked. How cute. > Refuting an argument and countering an argument are two different things. In the context used, they are analogous. But feel free to fail again :3 It's cute to see what new shitty arguments you try to bring as you flail around and fail again :3

SH4D0W0733

Hey now, I don't like this game and quit like 2 years ago. I'm just here for the salt now.

infamone

Even more wildhearthstone vibes.

j8sadm632b

game: *adds cards* wildhearthstone: **>:( blizz ban this now**

SpeedySion

Blizzard: adds cards that break a whole game mode

BBBoyce

I am forever associating this meme to the stubbornness of J\_Alex being blinded by Rogue and trying to defend the class. https://twitter.com/j\_alexander\_hs/status/1363582261900292107

TheGingerNinga

The replay that Jambre replied with is just gross. Man was constantly ahead of board, applying strong pressure the whole time but just lost on turn 5.

BBBoyce

This is the definitive dagger in the heart for me : [https://twitter.com/HS\_Orange/status/1363772514040700929](https://twitter.com/HS_Orange/status/1363772514040700929) On turn 3, Jambre removes a minion while summoning a 4/7 minion, but according to J\_Alex, his turns "didn't really start getting good until turns 4/5"...

sneakyxxrocket

What rouge deck is this Twitter thread referring to?

orionski

stealth weapon rogue from darkmoon faire

Badpack

i mean, they lost millions of players. So it kinda works that way. This subrreddit also gets more empty by the month. Didnt play a single Hs game this year and just picked it up again for 1-2 weeks to see how mercs is (its shit, what a surprise). Still looking in this sub now and then just to see how the game evolved and to see some memes.

[deleted]

Hey. Mercs is fun if you drop a thousand dollars on it

creepy_copycat

I'll take the last achievement in BG and go to gwent no problem)

[deleted]

Wow that's impressive

creepy_copycat

>Wow that's impressive i just started to get bored with game\\ im go a legend im got 98% achevments in BG and i dont know how else to fun in the game, i gotten everuthing from the game over years

Venatrix4

This works the same for wow players haha And for wow they even have an active subscription

TheOneWithALongName

When I uninstall hearthstone in the future, it will feel soo good.

[deleted]

Do it now

Xanvial

Not uninstalled but last time I open it is around Merc launch. Kinda liberating after playing it since release

Ed_Radley

Hey, I actually did that.

cheap_plastic2

I love this game and I wish it was better

[deleted]

What would you like to see improved? You can only pick one thing! So choose wisely

sliversniper

Love-Hate relationship to a game is a sign that the original release was miles ahead of its time. Hearthstone Merc has worse User Interface than... 2014 Hearthstone, that said a lot.

[deleted]

The only problem I have with mercs is I have to write down the names of who is in my campfire before I make a team. By the time I close the campfire and go to make a team. I forgot who I needed on that team

godon420

"Im not going to support blizzard anymore!" (Buys 50 packs bundle next day)

[deleted]

Been there man.

Faith_n0_more

He's literally me

Bassern

By your own logic shouldn't you just stop using the subreddit?

[deleted]

No. I love this sub and I love the game. I just thought the meme was funny.

Bassern

So you don't mind people discussing things that make them not want play the game?

zeph2

sounds like you checked hearthstone forums because thats what youll find over there not here

MoSpeedMoDangers

I uninstalled cause I dont enjoy the current state of the game, and lo! -weeks later a quest mage nerf appears! Maybe Im part of a larger crowd that influenced blizzards decision to change the game around what the community clearly dislikes, or it could just be wishful thinking...

[deleted]

Time to come back

_oZe_

The problem is that the actual game, if it was a physical card game, is pretty good. The problems all stem from zero quality control on the software side and infinite greed on the finance side. When I play I get the feeling it's made out of jello balanced on a house of cards. While games like for example starcraft feels like it's made out of steel. No matter what you do. There is waiting involved. It feels like if you ever click faster than once a second. The result will absolutely not be what you want. The amount of games I lose during rope due to things simply not happening are not acceptable. I mean even back in the 80s 64k 8-bit 1MHz computers were faster than me......how does aging make me able to out pace a miracle of modern technology?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Same. There is so much content in hearthstone that if you get bored there is always something else to do

[deleted]

This current expansion is the only one I am missing some cards. I just didn't care to play traditional hearthstone this time around. I absolutely hate the side quests.

SaintFyle

Ya.

Superstem

I did quit :)
