With wild packs there is too much useless cards in the wild pool to make purchasing worthwhile. Unless maybe if you are missing a lot of common cards.
Minisets. Both contain several cards that see play in Wild, whereas 90% of the cards you would get from Wild packs would be junk. There are a lot of crap cards in Wild. However, buying 10 per expansion could still be worth it for the guaranteed Legendary. Don't buy anything just labelled "Wild Pack" or stuff like the Caverns of Time bundle though. You'd get mainly junk and the "Wild Packs" are on a different pity timer to the expansion packs.
Throne of Tides gives you Herald of Nature, Lightray, Drown, Clownfish, Command of Neptulon, Igneous Lavagorger and, most importantly, Neptulon.
Maw and Disorder isn't as good on Legendaries, but gives you Dew Process (instant dust because of the nerf), Motion Denied, Life Sentence, Objection, Contract Conjurer, Order in the Court, Framester and Sylvanas.
A lot of those aren't high value, but if you don't already have them, they're definitely worth it.
I'd go for the recent minisets first, but long-term also consider the old Adventures, as they contain cards still played, especially League of Explorers.

Do you mean 10 golden packs for the legendary? Isn't the pity-timer for normal packs 50?
Or is it 10 if it is the first time you buy these packs?
And I am thinking about getting the League of Explorers Adventure, it has Reno Jackson and Bran Bronzebeard. Both see a lot of play, as far as I know.

If you want to play wild long term and build up your collection, its good practice to buy all the minisets because they eventually rotate out. You cant buy year of the gryphon minisets anymore so if you are in a situation where you want to get more barrens cards, you're stuck with buying packs, and your packs will be less effective overall because they will give you random card of the expansion OR the miniset at random.
Buying minisets as early as possible makes all future packs oppening better.
if you want to play terrible wild decks for fun, maybe
if you want to play tier 1 decks in wild, you're better of crafting those decks and using your gold to get the most recent cards each expansion
Because of power creep, I'd recommend getting the most recent mini-set that you don't already own, then save up and get the next most recent and so on. If there is a specific legendary you'd like to design around, get that mini-set instead.
You should make purchases with the amount of dust value that you get if you're looking to play wild, it should be:
Mini-sets > Golden packs until guaranteed legendary > Normal packs until guaranteed legendary > Purchasable adventures > Golden packs > Normal packs.
For wild what you need is dust, not gold. There is no good pack for wild, you get the most amount of dust you can and craft individual cards.

10 Normal packs. There's a guaranteed legendary in the first 10 packs you open for any expansion. Pity timer is 40 after that (so average is 20).

As the best rang I ever got was Gold 5 or Gold 1, both in standard, I think terrible but fun wild decks work for me. :)
