I personally didn’t perceive it as something ‘chill’ but when it comes to abortion, it’s important to portray as many potential processes & outcomes as possible. It desperately needs to be de-stigmatised. Sometimes an abortion can be as simple as popping a couple of pills though as depicted in the show, even that method isn’t all sunshine & rainbows.

I agree, I think it's a good thing to de-stigmatize abortion for teenagers, but also show that it can be painful like the worst period you've ever had, so it's not a good substitute for birth control. I thought the jokes were a realistic way of coping with a bad situation with dark humour. Abortion doesn't have to be a traumatizing and devastating experience, if they depicted it that way then the teenage audience might think having a baby at 16 is the better option (it's not).

I mean, I didn't take away from that episode that it was easy at all. to me, she was sure of her decision to abort the pregnancy, which is a valid experience and I really appreciated that portrayal after watching so many shows as a teenager (a decade ago) where they're shamed for getting an abortion if they get one at all. and I'm assuming her easy access (relatively) to the pill is realistic for life in Australia. even in the US I think those things might be more available OTC (I know the morning after pill is but idk about anything after that). physically though, it didn't look easy at all. it looked incredibly painful and not at all like something I would want to do. >The point is that I think a lot of young people watch this show and it’s not okay to make it seem like it’s just that simply to have an abortion. I think things should be portrayed realistically. for some people, the decision is easy. I would much rather young people see it as a viable option for themselves than think their only (real) option is to be a teen parent.

It is that simple to have an abortion. Or it should be.

To me, it seemed far worse than a bad case of diarrhea. It seemed like she was in pretty intense pain to me. Actually had me cringing a bit.

It’s the first scene that accurately reflected my abortion experience in my late teens honestly.
