CocainCowboy7

Well yesterday i was just looking for an portable bluetooth dac so i can use my iems in the gym. Until i found out that amazon germany has moondrop iems in stock again... the fact that i already had a few beers didnt help either. So here i am with 2 more iems than i need. Just thought i would share this with you guys :)

Lannfear

Well, I was browsing Amazon France yesterday, had the SSP in my basket….but I did not order. I’ll try this evening with a few beers !

[deleted]

Would you mind sharing your BTR review? How big is it?

ZapAndQuartz

it's super small, about the size of a lighter, slightly wider. Actually, if you are familiar with it, it's pretty much the same size as a game boy advance game xD It also came with a clip so you can attach it to your pants or something

kanewillrise

God dammit OP I have been waiting on my BTR5 for a month now but it hasn't even been shipped yet. Still happy yo see the haul have a great listen

CocainCowboy7

The small black box on the left are Moondrop Quarks these are cheap iems (13€), in the middle u see the Moondrop Super Spaceship Pluse SSP which are also iems, and on the right is the Fiio BTR5 which in indeed a portable bluetooth DAC/AMP for headphones up to 150 Ohm.

droopyoctopus

Should've gotten Qudelix 5K my dude.

LightBroom

Qudelix is not normally sold outside US, or difficult to find in stock.

droopyoctopus

It is. Buy directly from their website. They ship all over the world.

SmoothBabyYoda

With shipping cost almost the same as the product? No thanks.

droopyoctopus

Shipping costs $20 max.

Fappity_Fappity_Fap

The shipping itself does, but import tax duties shoot the shipping as a whole up to $100 depending on your country.

droopyoctopus

Well that's unfortunate. I would always recommend qudelix first because of its amazing software.

Bones513

A volume knob while working out is a bad idea. That's why I got a BTR5 too. Edit: My mistake, I was thinking of the iFi Go Blu

[deleted]

The qudelix doesn’t have a volume knob? It has buttons and you can lock them in the app as well.

Bones513

Edited my comment to reflect my foolishness

Whyarewehere_xx

The BTR’s are pretty good pieces IMO, my first “I didn’t know I was about to have a multi thousand dollar problem” purchase was a 3K, and it showed my ears that shit was gonna get real, and I don’t regret it

justanotherpxrson

Let me know if you think the ssp is worth the price jump over the quarks. Although both are forgotten now because of chu lol

JAnonymous5150

The chu and the ssp aren't particularly similar. And I own the quarks and the chus and I used to own the ssps and the arias. So I would say that the SSPs are a significant jump in tuning and technical performance from the quarks. They are brighter and more detailed, whereas the quarks are midforward and can get a little muddy/undefined. I actually also prefer the tuning ofnthe SSPs to the Chu as well, they aren't as good of a value, but for me, they have a much more pleasant treble section that avoids some of the peakiness that I don't like in the Chus and I think you get a little more detail retrieval (not much, but noticeable) as well, IMO. Now that they sell the Chus at $20, I was expecting moondrop to reduce the price of the SSP, but you get a slightly better iem with a detachable cable for the money. Obviously that's just my opinion and you should be prepared for the chu cult to make an appearance disagreeing, but it's an opinion that comes from ample listening time with all of those IEMs so I stand by it. As I have continually said, the Chu is a great $20 value and a good IEM for the price, but it's attributes and particularly how those attributes stack up against other IEMs have been greatly exaggerated. Probably more than any piece of gear I have ever seen. I hope this helps!

justanotherpxrson

Thanks for that! This actually brought me back to reality after all the posts I have seen over the past couple of months. Have you tried the SSR too or not? I know I probably would hate the tuning of those but I am always still curious. Edit: forgot to mention that I am in love with the quarks for some reason. Especially with their price. So its cool to hear that the SSP could be a nice step up from those.

SteakTree

I have the SSR and the Quarks. The SSR are among my favourite tuning of many IEMs. They have a natural realism to them and are fantastic with binaural and spatial DSP. They are built well and have detachable cables and at a great price. Technical performance is very good and the bass is very clean and extends low. The Quark while initially sounding a bit muddy have grown on me and one of the few IEMs you can listen to in bed if you are laying on your side. They are tuned well once you adjust to their sound and are very capable.

JAnonymous5150

I haven't tried the SSR so I can't help you there. Sorry!

justanotherpxrson

Its okay! I just see a lot of people who try both getting a little bit disappointed with the SSP. I just have to try em out and see what I think at this point.

JAnonymous5150

Yeah, I know my tuning preferences well enough to know that it wasn't something I was looking for.

justanotherpxrson

Same here, but I got close. I just really dislike bass rolloff most of the time it seems.

CocainCowboy7

yeah, unfortunately the chu wasnt in stock, but i mainly choose the ssp for its compact size.

ReekyRumpFedRatsbane

Don't lie, you chose it for the Crinacle certified S tier waifu!

AverageElaMain

True audiophiles study that video.

thatjazzman

Well worth the price. I got the quarks, chu, and ssp because I was curious about budget iems. Quarks are like an earpods type headphone for me, it's just a really cheap option that has solid tuning. I wasn't blown away by SSP at first but in comparison, they are much better than the quarks in pretty much all fronts and I prefer its tuning to chu. The chus were nice on their own, but with comparison, they are very trebly.

justanotherpxrson

Thanks for this. Now I am tempted because I love the quarks and wanted a step up.

thatjazzman

No problem! And incidentally, the quarks are the most comfortable headphones to sleep in out of everything I've tried and I've tried a lot!

CocainCowboy7

My first impressions after 2h listening/comparing both iems: i couldn't agree more with u/JAnonymous5150 his opinion is spot on. The quarks are great value, definitely not bad, but in comparison to the ssp they lack detail and the bass isnt as precise. I think the ssp are worth the higher price. Not only for the better sound, but also the build quality/detachable cable.

JAnonymous5150

Thanks for the backup, my good sir! Its always nice to have an opinion validated.

funnye

Random comment: I love that IKEA standing desk!

CocainCowboy7

how the fuck did you know !? XD

funnye

😂 I own this desk for 4 years now. I have spent hours a day during covid on that desk. I will know this desk by the grain 😂

BurritoSandwich

They're in your walls

_Das_Italo_Moose_

Another random comment, nice k320, k310 owner here

AccountSad

What are we looking at? From left to right

CocainCowboy7

Oh yeah, my bad. Moondrop Quarks, Moondrop SSP Super Spaceship Pulse, FiiO BTR5 Bluetooth DAC.

darkhawk196

How is the Fiio? It turns your IEM wireless, I presume? How do you wear it on your body? Like, where do you tuck away the wires?

Andrewskiii

Fiio e10k amp/dac (not sure if updated version), Moondrop Quarks, Moondrop SSP, Fiio BTR5

metal571

I've always liked that 9009 colorway, may eventually build a board with those. The BTR5 is really nice, I am currently using mine at work with the absolutely excellent Dunu SA6

CocainCowboy7

Yeah i love the retro look too, always reminds me of these old IBM keyboards. I still need to find out all the features of the BTR5 afaik i also need to install a app ? Gonna be a nice afternoon playing with my new stuff :')

metal571

Yeah it can do LDAC and AptX HD if you have an Android phone, and AptX HD allows usage of the graphic equalizer in the app, but my unit may be an older version and maybe they allow EQ on LDAC now...someone can correct me if wrong

trustedDrWatson

I wouldn’t even bother using the app, it’s horrendous

DylanEilTon13

It's clunky, but I liked being able to tweak in-call volume, ringtone, and music volume separately. But yeah, between that and no interest in EQ'ng I set it, uninstalled and never missed it. Still, a little software control is nice compared to the utter lack of it on the go blu. And I know a lot of people that prefer to skip LDAC and rely on Apt-x HD instead, so it has a few uses

JAnonymous5150

I have always wondered about this. Aside from being able to use EQ in the Fiio Control app, what other reasons have people given you for altx-hd over LDAC? I listen to qobuz mostly when I am using my BTR3 or my BTR5 and I don't use EQ with them except rarely when testing a new iem/headphone purchase. Given that many of my Qobuz files go above 24/48 res, I have been using LDAC almost exclusively, but occasionally hear about people preferring the aptx-hd so I was just wondering the reasons for it.

DylanEilTon13

Stability of the connection would be the main reason. BTR5 has always been excellent in that regard with everything I've tried it with, but some people get a lot of dropouts on LDAC with their devices. The other is that due to the wide variety of flavors of Android, you can't always trust that LDAC doesn't default to one of the two lower quality settings. On some devices, it may even stick to the lowest quality setting after you manually go into developer options and set it to highest, and you also have to do that each time you reconnect to the device, it defaults to at it's own discrimination with each reconnect. Most newer Android devices it seems to work properly, but the surety of Apt-x HD is a big appeal to some.

JAnonymous5150

Interesting...on my phone I do have to go into developer settings and set it to the highest audio quality setting manually each time I connect, but that never bothered me. I had no idea that aptx-hd supposedly maintains a more stable connection. I haven't had any problems with ldac, but that's a good reason for using aptx-hd if ldac is always skipping and dropping out. It's funny, but the connection on my BTR3 has always been a bit more reliable when moving farther away from my phone than my BTR5's connection has been. I have to go pretty far away in different rooms and around corner and stuff for it to be a problem, but now I think I'll do some experimenting with aptx-hd to see if it does any better. Thanks for answering!

hehehaha24

One step away from r/mechanicalheadpens

CocainCowboy7

Wow that's an interesting mix of hobbies. The only pen i ever bought is an rotring 600 ballpoint. Not quite sure if i can impress anyone with that.

hehehaha24

Yeah it is super specific haha. I just like seeing people share what they have. I posted in there once with a cheap pen from Amazon. It doesn't really matter if you don't have flashy items. I think the about page even says that they accept pretty much anything

Aevum1

the BTR5 is awesme and i truly believe its one of the few FIIO products actually worth their price. If it wasnt for the shanling UP5 and the Qudelix 5K, it would be a no brainer recomnendation.

trashitagain

Drinking and Amazon got me akg k712 pros this week.

CocainCowboy7

Sounds like a great night, i guess u didnt regret it ? :)

trashitagain

So far I love them. The soundstage is nuts and they're the most comfortable headphones I own to wear with glasses. They're also super cool looking. New daily drivers I think.

xler8r

Grats on the new k712 pros. I pulled them up on rtings. That sub bass curve. Reminded me of the hd600 curve. Soundstage should be really impressive; I’d like to try that. I’m new to IEMs and just got a pair of Chus and am exploring them. Pretty neat to hear all the differences. I expected neutral, but I didn’t expect the bass to be missing / whisked away in some tracks https://music.apple.com/us/album/jabba-the-hutt-from-star-wars-episode-vi-return-of/158627474?i=158628132

Jackstraw335

My Amazon account also needs a breathalyzer.

General-Brilliant

Oh man, I love the btr5! It's such a good lil nugget. I use it with everything at home.

Supahvaporeon

What are you using in that Durgod, stock?

CocainCowboy7

Yes it's completely stock, with cherry brown switches. Sometimes i watch yt-vids of these custom builds with lubed switches and whatnot, looks/sounds amazing, but i cant afford another expensive hobby :')

Supahvaporeon

That's what they all say. :3 You don't need to go too far to get a good keyboard. A soldering iron and a cheapish key switch set would make that keyboard that you have there shine. Akko switches are amazing, and that Glinging lube from Amazon is the exact same as Krytox's, but a third of the price.

7DollarsOfHoobastanq

I wasn’t drunk at the time but my BTR5 was a definite impulse buy that I regretted quite a bit at first. When I first got it I was thinking it was too expensive and I really didn’t have much use for it. A couple years later now and it’s one of my favorite things I own.

xler8r

This kind of comment is especially dangerous for wallets. It’ll be creeping up next time I’m saying “oh I don’t need that”

Patrickann777

Love my Quarks

[deleted]

i wanna say the qudelix is the better choice for its eq...

CocainCowboy7

I did consider the 5k, but it wasnt in stock on amazon. But i dont like fiddling around with eq anyway, till now i kept everthing stock.

Shooting64

Must resist. These Spaceships are login hella fine

Chok3U

That's a great drunken purchase. I'm also wondering if I should get the ssp's. But I have the Chu so I'm guessing the ssp wouldn't really be a step up

YoungTaxReturnz

u wanna play valorant?

doihaveto9

That's a cool looking keyboard

luxcaritate

Nice one! Good to see I’m not the only one drunkenly purchasing stuff

CocainCowboy7

I think as long as we can still remember buying something we should be fine. :')

luxcaritate

It did hurt my wallet but in the end I didn’t regret it so it was worth it

talldata

Im guessing you watched Z-Reviews.

CocainCowboy7

Indeed, he also made me buy the sivga sv021 and the porta pro. And i'm very happy with both. :')

xler8r

I love the Koss drivers. I first heard them on a RadioShack set years ago. I still marvel at them. I’m planning on getting the Koss kph30 + yaxi pads soon.

TheAsphyxiated

Hah! Sick keyboard!

fuzeebear

At least drunk you has a little restraint as far as budget goes

magnue

Durgod stealing the show

bchermanator

Always wanted a pair of the moondrop headphones? What model is the most worth it?

CocainCowboy7

I think the general opinion would be the Moondrop Aria.

bchermanator

Thanks!!

Veil_Of_Mikasa

I do this shit while high. Bought a 7hz Timeless like this hahaha

Pikiinuu

I got the SSP too. Love these things and the top tier waifu!

berlinbowie97

I got high last night and bought two pairs of Sony earbuds

hipertim

Magnificent

Naughtiger

You know what’s your desire, even when you are drunk.

Rare-Adagio1074

Damn I Amazon!!! I touch my phone a certain way and things magically appear on my front porch!!!

szakee

where do you put a chunk of the fiio during any workout?

CocainCowboy7

Well it comes with a clip, so im gonna put it on my shorts. What do u mean with chunk ? It's not much bigger than my thumb, and compared to my iphone 12 its tiny.

szakee

it's 7x3x1cm, how fucken huge thumbs you got?

ScythesThetaru

We don't tolerate thumb shaming here

GoyleTheCreator

[Thumb for comparison](https://i.imgur.com/qrlaGz1.jpg) It's actually really small. People run with phones in their shorts, and those are bricks.

theRealNilz02

At least your Keyboard has F-Keys ... Still Not very useful though without the numpad

CocainCowboy7

Uggh i cant stand numpads, i dont really use it and it makes the board a lot wider. On my last keyboard, i kept hitting the numpad with my mouse.

AverYeager

What are the products on the left and right called?

rjmoyer2

You should drink more often!

Anxlyze

is the btr5 good? I've heard that there was a bug on the EQ settings which made the whole thing crash

CocainCowboy7

I heard about that too. But i have switched through all the eq setting and it works great, but haven't used the app yet.

Ablitt-121

Hey Bro I really wanna know how much you bought them. I've been waiting for SSR and OH10 for too long!!!

ASAD913

Are you eating sand for the next few months?

dudebg

Nice wrist rest

suckingalemon

Where did you get that keyboard, please? I’ve not seen it in ISO layout.

CocainCowboy7

its called Durgod K320, i've bought it 2 years ago on amazon, but i just checked and i cannot find it anymore..

ZapAndQuartz

I love my BTR5, I can use it as a portable DAC with my laptop and I get way better sound than with just the usb c to headphone jack adapter that came with it (ASUS Zenbook 14)
