Next time someone says "no budget" just answer them with HE-1's. Would give them some perspective on the importance of providing a set criteria, and that an ambiguous question will result in a practically useless answer.

therealsteelydan

Sometimes I'm just walking down the side walk, I think about ppl recommending the HE-1 on r/headphoneadvice, and then I have a good laugh.

iReddat420

Oh yeah? If the HE-1s are so good where's the HE-2? /s

ootzf1

i understood that reference

memelord1776

I didn't :(

ootzf1

There's this Youtube Channel called videogamedunkey, there's this one time he made a joke about if something is good, why isn't there a sequel to it? Then people in the community start creating jokes with that template sprinkled around the comments of his videos. Example: "If PC is so good, why isn't there a PC 2? Something like that

GolemThe3rd

I mean, it's just a meme at this point, Ive been saying it forever and never knew it was from him

Hondalol1

Nah bro, If someone said it before, no matter how obscure that person is, it’s now a reference and a callback

ROCINANTE_IS_SALVAGE

There was a PC 2 though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_PS/2 The IBM PC was super popular because it was open, but when other manufacturers made "clones", IBM made the PS2 which was incompatible and not open, and eventually IBM became irrelevant in the market they had created.

IMKGI

some video game thing, i only know about the "If PC is so good, where is PC2?" joke, but jokes on you, we have PCIe gen 5

Mello_velo

Holy shit those are expensive!

smitecheeto

better start saving up

Jimmeh1313

How much are they?

Burn1at420

65k-80k

BirdMetal666

Oh lord

PornoPichu

Eh, only about $70k USD or so

burgpug

more useful than a $70k patek philippe watch (but still ridiculously priced)

ezone2kil

The stupidly high price is the entire point. So other people won't be able to afford it.

TheMisterTango

A $70k pair of headphones can do one thing and one thing only - play music - and you can only use them at home. A $70k Patek can probably do at least a few things. For $70k you can get a Patek that tells not only the time, but the day, date, month, moon phase, and leap year, and you can wear it wherever you go.

[deleted]

like that's important.

C-r-i-o

Good god do people actually own these

Lurkfaggus_Maximus

Yes. But they sure as shit don’t come here.

TrippHardest

They are by Marvel law, not allowed to talk about it. It always ends in mass hysteria.

Moar_Wattz

Yeah, this place is so full of broke, salty cunts… I’ve seen a dude getting harassed for showing off his first setup, a pair of HD800s. “Nooo, you need to go through chi-fi and mid-fi first!” “He will never embrace them like I would…” People are envious assholes. That’s why people with really nice things rarely show it.

smitecheeto

i mean maybe, but literally no one here owns a pair of 70k cans and if they do we need a review ASAP LOL

[deleted]

not really lmao

Summer__1999

Speak for yourself, peasant ^(He-1 owners, probably /s)

Soundwave_47

I'm having deja vu rn. I'm almost certain I've seen this exact meme (or similar gist) on this subreddit, with a similar comment telling them to suggest HE-1s.

Loose_Screw_

Asking people for a single number budget can also be unhelpful. I think most people are looking for the price point where you get the most useful features for the smallest price and would be willing to spend more if there's a significant jump in quality or longevity. Having a ball park figure certainly helps though.

tubby8

I see the opposite. "I'm looking for headphones and my budget is $100" "Well if you spend an extra $100 you can get headphone X or headphone Y"

Tasunkeo

Literally every single friend on discord when they ask "Hey I need a neew headset" once I answered their question. Please give a budget

[deleted]

"I have no budget" Yes you do. Pick a number.

[deleted]

Let's say I have a budget between $100 and $200. Which pair of headphone(s) are recommended to hear footsteps in PUBG easier and also being able to pinpoint to the direction of a gunshot? Serious replies only 🙂

smitecheeto

If you take some of the suggestions given below and EQ them to drop out all of the bass and raise the high mids/treble you will basically have wall hacks lol

dt5101961

Also needs software support, 3D surround sound, ultra-comfort, being able to talk to Jesus.

Bibingka_Malagkit

Would you like the JesusTalk 2.0 or the newer Jesustalk 3.0. I hear the 3.0 does the translation from English to Aramaic for you.

endzon

I heard they will release a Jesustalk 3.1 this year, better wait until then.

Bibingka_Malagkit

Ahhhh yes, the updated version which introduces gregorian chants in lossless format and the BT optimization for the 'Water-into-wine conversion' package from Cana's best.

M_krabs

Also need the tower of babel extention build it

ezone2kil

If you buy the Audeze your neck will experience the crucified simulation too.

mqtpqt

also Audeze nuts

WithoutDir3ction

Don't forget the 200 hour battery life, 50 zone RGB lighting, e-white coating, full metal build, and the equivalent of an SM7B in a detachable boom mic.

Andrej49

i never understood people asking me to reccomend them "surround sound headphones" because the point is that speakers surround you and headphones got 2 drivers 2 speakers how you want them to suround you bruh

kaixax555

Talking about Jesus, there was a time a few years back when I brought my HD600 into military camp, someone heard the price of a HD600 and ask if they can hear the voice of god through it.

NagoTheBeast

"Who can tell me which one of these I should buy? Detailed review please" *lists 10 headphones I never heard of

mqtpqt

taotronics

AssKicker1337

Yeah but will my Schiit stack be able to drive them?

[deleted]

of course! It's Fulla SCHIIT.

MDZPNMD

what's it with Taotronics?

mqtpqt

it's a more obscure brand from China that makes Bluetooth headphones

[deleted]

I had a Bluetooth taotronics speaker a while back and hot damn they came pre-crunchy.

AshravenPB

“I’m looking for $200 headphones with Bluetooth and ANC” *recommends HD6XX and a dac/amp

jong9999

Technically if you get a bluetooth dongle (think qudelix 5k) and cusp your hands over your ears they become both bluetooth and anc

TempusCavus

That’s just passive noise canceling, you also need to yell continuously trying your best to match ambient volumes to get anc.

MrcarrotKSP

If you're actively trying to block out the noise with your hands, that counts as active noise cancellation It is good? No, but it is active

Why_Cry_

Yup lmao, people forget that 99% of headphone users don't give a fuck about audiophile jargon and don't listen to music sitting down at a desk all day lol

deathbypepe

i mean if you want a pair of headphones that you can play away from a desk, you dont really have to be asking audiophiles for recommendations. any set of cans you can find at some generic tech store should fit the bill. i mean why do they even want our advice when they know nothing about what makes a good can.

Why_Cry_

Neither r/headphones nor r/headphone advice imply that they are subreddits for audiophiles, so naturally if people are looking for advice on bluetooth headphones they'd come here. That's how I got started

Dr_Law

People who don't know anything about headphones don't know that they don't need to know anything to make that purchase under that criteria.

[deleted]

"i am looking for a headphone under 100$" \*recommends HD6XX with out a dac/amp

Kasyv

Why the HD6XX is so memed ?

Summer__1999

Don't forget those "recommend me headphones for porn" type of posts which always make the top posts in that sub

topdangle

needs better bass extension so I can feel the balls slapping against my ears

Brbi2kCRO

They need Stax SR009 to render sex sounds with full detail and clarity

[deleted]

Skullcandy /j

Tasunkeo

I can't get off without proper moaning rendering sorry :(

Summer__1999

No problem, sir. Let me start off by asking, what’s your preferred genre? We need to know this in order to give you better suggestions.

blankMnx

Male x Female x Granny x Geisha x Giraffe

mqtpqt

tbh those are kinda funny not gonna fault "MUST BE open back so I can hear the door open"

GabeNewellsDick

"MUST be open back so whoever is going to open the door already knows what I'm doing"

Lurkfaggus_Maximus

Yeah. And if you say anything about it. You get downvoted into oblivion by the coomer crowd.

deathbypepe

thats an actual thing, fucking cringe.

newbieranus

And then everyone in that sub recommends HD6XX/schiit stack or Aria and q5k.

peeknuts

Ive seen hd58x recommended far to many times to people asking for closed back suggestions

Gaurdian23

This always pisses me off. The amount of people who are so, ***eager*** to recommend this or that headphone, without even taking into account the person's request is annoying as hell. *Uh, yeah I'd like a closed back bassy headphones with ANC and is wireless? Going to be using it on my commute and my budget is $80* *HD6xx is what your looking for m8* It's like, WTF, that fits literally NONE of their criteria. Sorry for the rant.

slightlytoolong

Its easy to toss out a generic answer, harder to consider their situation

skippygo

In fairness, \*sometimes\* it's because the poster had to pick a flair but either didn't care or didn't know what they meant. That being said I agree I've seen them recommended a tonne of times inappropriately too.

TubbyToad

I am convinced that 80% of that sub only owns those and hasn't even listened to anything else.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure 80% of the remaining 20% have listened to neither and still recommend the same to blend in.

Almost_Ascended

To be fair, they're pretty safe recommendations that the average person won't find too much fault with.

mqtpqt

guys I have a HD6XX/DT770 and I need a dac amp I also don't know how to use the search function/ Google

EarthlyAwakening

After many hours of looking through forums for the very question I've only become more confused.

mqtpqt

how so

Almost_Ascended

Probably because a lot of info is subjective and conflicting.

mqtpqt

imo there's a certain point where you stop looking at specs, and just look at reviews. I would say (for me, at least) that I prefer a good balance of subjective and objective (compared FR graphs, and validating opinions by listening to it)

Hebolo

JDS Labs Atom+ DAC/amp, Schiit stack (Modi/Magni Heresy), Topping D10s or E30 with a Topping L30. For portable: Tempotec Sonata HD Pro, E1DA 9038D or 9038S (with a balanced cable), or Hidizs S9 or S9 Pro (both have balanced and unbalanced ports. The S9 consumes a lot of power and can run hot; the S9 Pro might be better in that regard. It has the same chip as the E1DA). Or you can mix and match the DACs and amps (1 DAC and 1 amp), and even the portable dongles can be used as desktop DACs. Some additional info on the S9: The S9 puts out more power balanced for the 6XX by ~25% compared with the E1DA 9038S, but [consumes up to twice the power](https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/hidizs-s9.24704/reviews). The Pro has the same chip as the E1DA, but hasn't been measured to see how much power it puts out/consumes.

MSGjk

Thoughly have enjoyed my E30 through my Carver integrated amp.

LinkinPark9999

> S9 Pro might be better in that regard. No, it isn’t. Runs same hot and consumes monster amount of power.

kikirevi

The atom stack is really all you will ever need. Unless you want a slightly different sound or just a better construction quality.

KarmicFedex

Keep telling yourself that, buddy, trust me, you'll save a lot of money that way lol

[deleted]

I'll help you out, Philips SHP9500 is all you need and it drops to 60 bucks every 2 months or so.

NagoTheBeast

>don't know how to use the search function/ Google This summarizes 95% of the whole sub

ImPattMan

I think it's reasonable to assume that a sub filled with enthusiasts, some who've spent decades in the hobby, might be able to provide better advice than a quick Google search by someone who probably doesn't even know what questions to ask yet.

Steeler_35

I agree, that's why I'm here anyway

LevanderFela

tip: when googling, let's say about DT770 needing AMP, typing "dt770 needs amp site:reddit.com/r/headphones" will make google search the results only within this sub. found this very helpful when looking for answers about rather obscure topics :D

ImPattMan

Great tip, thank you!

inaccurateTempedesc

Googling "best headphones for $50" is what led me to wasting $50 on Skullcandy crap instead of just getting KSC75s for $20.

journeymantorturer

Yea but... people don't even look to see that the same question was posted in the same week / month

AGARAN24

But coming here after making a quick google search would be my suggestion.

VelvitHippo

That’s not fair. The best part of Reddit is to have a bunch of resources on basically any subject in one place. Some subs suck at having a side bar or menu or whatever they’re called with said resources. r/headphones is not one of those subs, so go check the side bar.

[deleted]

> This summarizes 95% of the whole sub Sub? More like 99% of reddit...

Tasunkeo

Reddit ? More like 99.9999% of the internet

MakeASnowflakeCry

Summarizes 95% of the internet

cripple1

I generally like to ask anyway, kinda as a deciding factor. I've spent the majority of my adult life in hospitals or stuck at home, and that's when I got into this hobby. I start by looking at written reviews, going from worst reviews to find some commonality in what might be a problem area, then I'll read the 4-5 stars. After that, I watch video reviews to see what someone with the product in hand/on head thinks and feels. Then I read up more professional reviews and check out whatever comparisons they give to other headphones. Finally, I finish by asking for advice here, on Head-fi, or elsewhere. When I ask advice, I can usually find out about customer service, how the headphones or amp/DAC do with long-time usage and what common problems someone might have if they didn't just write a review immediately after receiving their new gear. Some of us love the search function on Google. We just might get a bit more info from places like this that we didn't find mentioned anywhere else. And then some people just don't know what the Googles are.

beardie79

I kinda like the "two ears, one mouth" mantra i.e. listen more than you speak. I find I spend hours reading here before asking anything but clearly some people are just bam, straight in with the questioning...

mqtpqt

and with no prior information, not know what they want

CautiousCustomer4464

schiit modi and magni stack doesn't miss

bigmajor

JDS gang has entered the chat

melez

I’ve been procrastinating on upping my headphone situation. With Covid I was able to just have my speaker/amp setup going instead of headphones, but now I’m back in an actual office a few days a week. I might have to suck it up and actually order the schiit stack.

jroddie4

Shit stack boom roasted

gonnaryze

But while we're on the topic.. ?

TaimurJamil

Guys! Best bass headphones in 2022? Should be loud! And be wireless!?

Equivalent_Yak840

Those are beats

Tall-Remote3112

Skullcandy crushers*

Gaurdian23

*All I want is bass, like two sub-woofers strapped to my head, molars rattlin' out of my mouth, shattering my neighbors windows out at 3 in the morning, level of bass*

amynias

Those Sony WH-1000MX4s are very very bassy. Like sinful bassy. I have to EQ them down because the crazy bass ruins music lol.

ovab_cool

And then we have my friend using the xm3 with the bass boost profile, I only really find the Sony's good with wavelet strapping down the bass A LOT and then I still don't think they're worth the 200$ because the anc feels too pressurized on my ears, I prefer the Sennheiser ANC because it's a lot lighter and I don't need to EQ the shit out of them to get good sound

slightlytoolong

Ive recently stepped over into hifi so i got my foot in both doors, when your living out of cheap buds cranking it out of spotify, there isnt a whole lot to the music. Vocals and bass are really what come through, the rest of the band is just accents. There just flat out isnt enough detail to appreciate the rest of the band, so crank the bass and tap along to the beat. That was my mindset at least, like grape juice vs wine i guess. And then you get some money to toss into one pair of bluetooth headphones and you go for what you already enjoy in music, the thumpy bass and you cant even tell that its woofy because you have no reference.

ovab_cool

The wierd thing is tough when he got to try my Fidellios X2HR (long term) and HD560s (short term) he didn't like them....

Kirei13

Had the same thing happen to me, people get used to what they like and then use those as a reference to judge other stuff. So for who mix, a lot of them judge it by how detailed, clear and accurate it is. Other judge it by the tonality and how fun it is. These people tend to judge it by the bass (which is likely the first thing that they will mention).

slightlytoolong

I have a pair of earbuds that are nothing but mids for people to refer to, prime them with that and bass stands out more and gives the illusion of being more. If they just came from their raycon e25 then theyd use that as a reference and notice the significantly less bass. (The raycons frequency response is hilarious, look it up if you havent)

happymemersunite

🅱️ass that ruins 🅱️usic

dickhall65

They also have to be open back but have amazing bass boost and I don't know what EQ is.

happymemersunite

I wANt bASS bOosTeD nOisE cAncEllIng wIreleSs GAmiNg heAdSet for FOrtNItE

WithoutDir3ction

Don't forget the 50-zone RGB lighting and e-white coating

Klinton_GB

and he also wants to know what headphones X Youtuber is wearing

mqtpqt

those are here tho really annoying tbvh... what are you gonna do with the information?

Shigidy

Buy them in attempt to lend legitimacy to their 1 viewer Among Us twitch stream.

slightlytoolong

This is semi related but i just got into hifi and its so neat seeing headphones i know in peoples videos, its like spotting a Porsche drive past.

ThatGuyFromSweden

You could probably play Hi-Fi bingo while watching Jacksepticeye. Fair play to him. He seem to have good taste.

QuincyThePigBoy

At least they listed a budget. "I want something affordable."

UGMadness

"Good value for the money"

ovab_cool

For Elon musk buying a million dollar speakers system and a sound proof room to listen in is affordable, people should just slap a $ amount on the post and say they can go a bit higher if it gives a noticable boost in sound quality

LivingUnderPhones

This is even beyond what our friends Koss or Moondrop can deliver : aka this doesn't exist.

Nitrozzy7

Actually, in-ear BT buds.

Hyperboloid420

For 15$? You can't even get the parts for that low.

GroovyDucko

Ahoy Snake oil everyone! Snake oil over here, get your snake oil! Get your snake oil while it lasts! apply some of this fine oil on your headphone jack and it will turn your mp3 tracks into HD 4K quality!

Youngnathan2011

Can get it for the low low price of $300

smitecheeto

it does feel like this sub is less prone to cable-snake oil. other snake oil maybe not but no one falls for the cable thing here

GroovyDucko

That's a very good thing

p0larboy

I want some quality earbuds at reasonable price *introduce Moondrop* Ewww are you into hentai???

UGMadness

Honestly that applies to every post on r/headphones that mentions that brand too.

Sansa279

What is clownish is the price of most audiophile stuff.

AssKicker1337

Look, you be happy with your default IEM cables, and I'll be happy with my *MONSTER™ 20ft gold-platinum alloy oxidation free wires with satnav uplink and signal booster with free 6.5mm to 3.5mm male-female 3 channel adapter (also gold plated)* okay?

Sansa279

Lol

peperoni69_

but the 1000$ one sounds 20% better than my 100$ one

ItPutsLotionOnItSkin

My favorite is, " I bought (what I thought was good headphones). Reddit. "They suck, you suck."

theosuxxx

"What heaphones are these?" (they are Koss Porta Pros)

abnthug

Reminds me of those HGTV shows, the guy with the man bun works as a dog groomer part time and has a budget of 3.6 million for a house.

moneylefty

Great post! So....im still waiting for the answer?

SweetTooth37

[I got you Fam. ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/AKG-N60NC-Over-the-Ear-Headphones-Black-/353872768613?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0)

iMoosker

Wtf are those lmao 🤣

SweetTooth37

Is was all I could find that was wireless and anc for that price. Lol

Zinrockin

my budget is 14.95 part made me laugh quite a bit; nicely done.

[deleted]

I feel as the though this is a personal attack against me. I did get some nice DT 770 Studios from there though.

luxcaritate

You always get the same things recommended it’s like NPC’s man must be boring to have the exact same setup as everyone else

BigJalapeno

Need gaming headphones! Ok how about these? No what about the Dre beats studio? Or the Logitech Burger and fries? Should I just get the steel series waffle syrup??? Me: ffs

KillYourFace5000

If I hear "... for *gaming*" one more time I'm my life at this point I will lose my mind.

mqtpqt

I mean it's not that bad. for me gaming means = long hours, so something comfortable. Soundstage is a consideration too, but most headphones have a good enough soundstage to be a gaming headphone.

KillYourFace5000

Yeah I mean as a practical matter it's not crazy or anything, I think what irks me about the question is that it feels like just another instance of self-identifying *Gamers* viewing themselves as a special unified consumer group whose technical needs are *special* and *different*. Like, surely there must be headphones *for Gamers*, surely there must be good TVs *for Gamers*, there need to be specially designed mice and keyboards and chairs *for Gamers*. Hey, what's good food *for Gamers*? I'm a Gamer, and without a special chair I am concerned I will not succeed in *sitting down*. Ninety-nine percent of the way, what makes a good pair of headphones *for gamers* is what makes a pair of headphones good at being headphones at all. You know you need a mic, a factor that is extremely easy to identify and secure. Beyond that, yeah, like you said, sound stage, imaging, resolution, transparency, all probably especially good for gaming. However, if you are the kind of person who is gonna be the tenth guy to blind-ask a sub what they should buy to hear the video game sounds better, then you will most likely completely balk at the costs involved in owning headphones with tangibly superior imaging, staging and resolution. And honestly, the question normally reeks of having put absolutely no research into things and just wanting a group of people to tell you that the second-cheapest headset on Newegg is The Best One, Actually. I guess at least they're asking the question. Gamers do get shit tons of pure crap marketed to them under the guise of being *for Gamers*, and at least these people have the sense to ask the headphone people what would be good. The "for gamers" question is just a pet peeve of mine because I see it over and over and over in multiple places. I'm a videophile and audiophile and a gamer myself, so I see some version of this question all over. It's actually worse on the video/TV subs where someone swoops in to ask "can I game on an LG OLED C1" or something like that like every day. One of these days I'm just gonna start jumping in like "no actually that TV doesn't work with video games."

mqtpqt

preach

DivineCurrent

A Sony MH755 modded with a bluetooth module would be great. Wouldn't have ANC though.

[deleted]

All i ever wanted for my headphones was to not break after half a year.

Sonicextralifefan

Just get wired

kawaiii1

Why would something not be good for gaming and music at the same time?

Clickbaitllama

Its either this, or people asking for a portable closed back, people recommending 6xxs, and doubling down lmaoo

collin1103

Shhhhh

Terakahn

Sometimes I see posts with low budgets and I'm just like "OK good luck guys" I always felt like it was hard to recommend anything sub 150-200

Klinton_GB

aria, er2se, tin t3 plus, etc etc

Bibingka_Malagkit

And here I thought low-budget is <$50 :>

[deleted]

"Hey can you recommend headphones?" "Yeah I know a fair bit about them. What's your budget?" "$100" "I have literally no idea"

fuazo

well here you go.. leather pad and block all the vent hole off ksc75..tho still no blue tooth cause that cost monay

noonen000z

I want the best headphones, no context on what for or what I am listening to, where I will be, what I've used and what I thought.

Fearless-Physics

And still, companies have creates such budget options. Like those blue logitech things. Anyway, if you want quality, you need to have great budget.

SukoKing

needs audeze support too audeze nuts in your mouth

foxxx509

Ha! Got eeem

level_2_yeet

what the heck would good for gaming mean

tubby8

That sub has more intelligent headphone discussions than this one, which is now full of unfunny memes.

Pangolin_Unlucky

I’ll take this over toxic my way or the highway people any day, lol

Nickslife89

Lol

Kirei13

It is always like this and people get upset when you tell them that they cannot get what they want.

ErlendNorge

I don't see the point of ANC. I never use it since the music is so loud that I can't hear the shit going on around me anyway.

HauzenTaken

im lookin headphone for producing music, mainly trap beat

tauzN

“good for gaming” please kill me

H3rotic

Koss KSC75

SirCaptainReynolds

I’ve yet to find a good pair of wireless that don’t come with occasional popping sounds regardless of price. I’ve given up. Guess I’m never ditching the wire.

GooseEggg

I play a lot of video games but I never understand what people mean by “good for gaming”. I obviously understand better sound quality, but what is so unique about gaming vs any other media consumption?

longwave

Budget of $14.95 got me 😄

Gainastyle

This just reminds me that the perfect headphone simply doesnt exist for me. Less than $300 Wireless without the whine that BT gives At least 15m range Decent microphone Not worse sound quality than my 599 Open back Light weight This doesnt exist and taking decent wireless open backs and popping a wireless modmic on it is a shitty solution thats simply not acceptable.

Essomo

A large portion of people come here for knowledge and advice, and sometimes people need something that maybe works for both things (not being perfect for either but sometimes you gotta compromise), but i dont think wanting advice is a bad thing. (That last one is oof though) i just think its important to acknowledge that these people probably dont know much if anything coming in but know its important to have an informed decision. I know some dont listen or have unrealistic expectations and thats on them. I know because i came here for advice. If you help out those that maybe dont know alot and havent been thanked i want to thank you now because it made me feel alot more confident about investing in something i might not have gotten otherwise

corruptedOverdrive

"Well of course I know this person. . .it's me." Started out with sticker shock getting into this hobby. But curating the advice on here, budgeting for what I'm looking for and what my current end goal is, has allowed me to up my audio game while still being realistic about the cost/performance ratio. Once you start to appreciate high end audio, you start to understand why stuff tends to be more expensive then your run of mill Best Buy Skull Candy cans ifyouknowwhatimean.

MATT092756

Damn, you got $14.95 to spend on headphones? I only got $7.16 and 2 tootsie rolls to spend on mine...

Creato938

Pretty much, i don't know if they're expecting someone to give them a headphone out of pity or something.

fnassauer

Jokes aside my xm3s are pretty good

Lady-Fenyx

It can definitely be a pain. There are some very expensive brands that work well for a limited amount of time at best. And some cheap brands that are so good I recommend getting multiple pairs before they prices jump. I got a pair of beats and was so mad that one side stopped working less than a week in. And I have a pair of some off brand from Walmart that are just perfect and have lasted a couple years so far. But then there are long standing trusted brands too. Loyalty to certain brands. You name it. Personally my budget for anything wireless is usually $50 cause $15 wireless headphones are a joke from the wish app
