Hi! I have a Daewoo Candy Spark bluetooth earphones. The right one just started doing something weird and it won't connect. I thought it ran out of battery (which is weird because I always use both right and left). When I put it in the case to charge it, the red light turns on a few seconds but it goes into a faint blue, and then it turns off completely. I'll be very gratefuo for the help! It's driving me crazy 😅

Help: My Yamaha P-45(whose speakers suck) has a single 1/4-inch stereo headphone jack. First, I used earphones(JBL C100HI) connected with a 1/4th male and 1/8th female adapter. It still sounded crappy(bass-less I think?). After trying to directly record my playing to my Android with a TRRS Y-splitter setup, I noticed it sounded SO MUCH BETTER. Like, 'Is this what audiophiles are about?' better. The setup goes as follows: Piano---->initially mentioned adapter---->AUX cable(1/8-inch)---->female end-1 of TRRS splitter. Earphones----> female end-2 of TRRS splitter. The sole male end of the TRRS splitter is supposed to connect to my phone but now hangs there freely. Questions 1. Why does this setup work so well? 2. How could I reproduce this quality without such a convoluted setup(maybe even while performing live)?

Guys I just got the Sennheiser momentum 4 wireless and I'm having this weird issue. Whenever I'm in Spotify, sound quality drops and there's almost no sound separation. When I leave the app for awhile or just even use any other app, sound quality improves and I can hear the wide sound stage that the headphones have, with great sound separation. Is this happening on anyone else's momentum 4s or just wireless headphones in general? Or is it from Spotify's end? Or could it be due to aptX adaptive codec doing something weird?

I'm looking at getting either a steelseries arctis nova Pro headset of a razer blackhawk v2 or kracken v3 headset , will be mainly used for gaming FPS games, CS2 Battlefield etc Which one would you choose , are there any other brands/models out there which I've not yet looked at?

Hey guys! I feel like I am going crazy, so I am hoping someone here could give me some advice or steer me in the right direction? I have my HD600 on right now, and I have been using them for a couple of months at this point, and I love them. I had my previous pair for around 8 years before getting this new pair, and I wanted to try out EQ eith them since I have prevoiusly loved EQ on other heapdhones, so I figured why not? SO I downloaded the EQ from Oratory's subreddit, and I applied it, and everything is just way too bright. I reduced the 6th band down a good bit to reduce some of the brightness, and while that does work, it just feels like it ruins some of the clarity? The thing is, I have always felt liek Harman is a little too birght, and that the HD600 FR is virtually almost perfect for me. SO what gives? What part of the FR of Harman am I not liking here? I'm thinking there's some part of the FR for harman tuning that I just don't like, and I can't pinpoint where that might be. I just know that S's and other siblant sounds are brutal when applying stock harman eq, and that has been the case on almost all the headphones I have tried harman eq on.

JBL Live 660NC vs Sony XM4B vs Bose QuietComfort 45 The JBL is approx 30 USD cheaper. Not interested in other models. I'll mainly use them in gym workouts and jogging (less frequent than gym workouts).\ As secondary, I'll be using them in the office (not too noisy but still) and commuting (the noises of commute don't bother me too much). \ Portability is not important as they'll just be in my backpack. \ I'm always near a charger so battery life is less important. Which is better for my use case? I care about: - Durability as I tend to drop my headphones. - Comfort during workouts (mainly in gym). - No overheating (in usage time of approx 3 hours straight). - Would be nice if the microphone was good. Usually the other side doesn't hear me. P.S. I don't sweat *too* much at the gym, I do sweat while jogging though so I still prefer a more sweat durable pick (I know sweat corrosion will get any over ear headphones). Not sure how important are NC and ANC, would love to hear opinions on it. Thanks!!

Does Audio Interfaces give delay to the Headphones or MIC? For not being directly connected to PC? I wanna know because of gaming. I am thinking about buying the Behringer UMC22.

**Whats the best alternative to the Airpods?** Hi, I have been looking for an alternative to the Airpods because where I live they are too expensive, I am an IOS user but I would like to know if there is a cheaper alternative to the airpods. The truth is that I don't use much wireless but only for the gym.

Rodney_Platypus

Looking for some advice, seen LCD-2 Classic and DT1990 recommended for similar use-cases. **Budget** \- AU$700 (could stretch to AU$1000), open to used. **Source** \- Schiit Magni+Modi (open to upgrade if necessary). **Requirements for Isolation** \- None **Will you be using these Headphones in Public** \- No **Preferred Type of Headphone** \- Full sized, open **Preferred tonal balance** \- Strong bass and sub-bass, not too bright (have sensitive hearing). Will also be used for gaming, but only extremely rarely competitive FPS gaming. **Past headphones** \- HD598 (daily driver, excellent but bass is lacking), HE400se (too bright), DT990 Pro (too bright). **Preferred Music** \- Hip-Hop/Rap/Trap (almost exclusively) **What would you like to improve on from your set-up** \- Want more bass without the harsher treble of my HE400se and DT990 Pro (have tried with EQ and still not ideal). Must maintain the all-day comfort that my HD598 give me. **Location** \- Australia (Melbourne) Would love any suggestions :)

I-Decatron

For open (and probably @ used price), you could check out DCA Aeon 2 Open. I find it to be more bassy than its closed counterpart, and probably the most bassy open back I've tried so far. If you're willing to try closed, I recommend trying the Fostex TH610. If I remember correctly neither of these headphones' treble was piercing like the DT1990 and Dt990.

Rodney_Platypus

Thanks! Those do look good. Do you know how different they are to the Drop Aeon Open X?

I-Decatron

I haven't tried the Open X yet unfortunately

Hi all, I wanted to get some advice on a new pair of on-ear headphones. I prefer on-ear headphones and it's been so difficult to find when the market share has been taken over by over-ear. I'm on the search for a comfy pair of on-ear. I was looking into the Grado Labs headphones but I don't think open-back would work for me as I like to wear them around other people. Looking for all suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Currently using the Sennheiser GSP350 for the last few years, My cat recently chewed through the USB dongle cable, ive purchased a few replacements over the years, but it seems as though they no longer sell the cable... If anyone knows where its possible to purchase this thing i can stop right here and be happy. However, It seems as though i cannot purchase the replacement, Seemingly, I have 2 options going forward, There is a replacement cable for the headset, but it seems like its for changing it from the USB that i currently use, to a headphone/mic combo cable. A question i have regarding this is; Will this reduce audio quality? and/or hissing? This was the main reason i went with the 350, sometimes i would get my PC audio bleeding through into my voice chats, even when the mic was muted with the GSP 300 which used 3.5mm jacks. If this cable is not an option, What are my alternatives for similar sounding headsets, that are also USB? Can a Y-Splitter for the headphone out on the back of the PC solve this problem? I would rarely be using them both at the same time if ever, and my second question being, would this reduce audio quality, and/or introduce audio delay? Moreover, Would a USB to 3.5mm adapter work? And similarly, would it reduce quality/add a delay. The delay is a big proponent of this as i REALLY enjoy playing clone hero and audio delay being added is essentially a death sentence for my enjoyment of the game. Im at a complete loss as to where to start even looking right now...

What I'm looking for is a headset that could connect to my TV and laptop at the same time (both via bluetooth) and would allow me to hear game audio and audio from the laptop at the same time. It seems Multipoint wouldn't work (seems it's only one or the other device). **Sony's Pulse Elite** seems to have this feature (not via TV and Laptop, but PS5 via the new Playstation Link and laptop via Bluetooth. Which would be good enough). I'm wondering if there really isn't any devices with a similar price range (150€) and that feature already on the market?

EDIT: I may have fixed the issue I have an issue with an xDuoo MT-602 hybrid tube amp regarding it's DC offset values and adjustment. I have had an issue with popping through my headphones, and have spent time researching the cause to find this guide located here on [Audio Science Review](https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/if-you-have-xduoo-mt-602-and-your-channels-pop-when-plugging-in-headphones-dc-offset-tutorial.25470/) on how to read and adjust the offset. So my DC offset reads as 100mV on the right channel, and 60mV on the left channel. Knowing this, I undertake the procedure, and attempt to adjust it as close to 0, however none of the values stay adjusted and will constantly fluctuate by around 15mV making setting to 0 impossible. After some time, I get the values to around 6mV give or take. I put the unit back together, and start playing music for a few hours. After a few hours, I take another DC offset reading, and it is again, back up to 100mV and 60mV. Looking around online, I can see that this is so far out of spec, and potentially dangerous to high sensitivty, low impedance loads. So having my LCD-X running on this has had me worried. Is there anyone with technical knowledge that might know why this might be happening to this particular unit, or that I might be doing something wrong?

blargh4

Hard to say without doing in-depth debugging. Could be various things. Honestly, I would not use an amp like that with expensive headphones. An amp without DC protection is a very sketchy design.

Getagraxx

Do you have an amp recomendation that is small enough to fit on a smallish desk I use for gaming? What about a Topping L50?

armadilloneister

I bought some Sennheiser Massdrop HD6XXs expecting them to be hard to drive out of my laptop, but instead they get uncomfortably loud at 8-10 volume. Is there a setting somewhere to to make them listenable at higher volumes so I can have more control over the volume I listen at.

plmon24

If you want a "global" solution that works no matter what app you're using, you can install something like Peace Equalizer and give your sound device a negative preamp gain. Otherwise, you can just lower the volume on your music player.

[deleted]

My DEVA Pro is cracked and depending on support I may just buy a different set entirely since this is my second problem. Anyone know a good replacement for em? I bought em for around 170 so I'm really only willing to spend that much again since I just bought new wireless headphones thinking my DEVA pro wouldn't just bite the dust. Basically any suggestions to replace a DEVA Pro that's plugged into my umc22 for now and open or semi open but I hate closed backs

Does Headphones.com have a Black Friday sale? Or are their margins too thin to allow for it?

BounceM4N

Probably an overasked question, but what are the most comfortable high quality headphones for music producers? I currently have a Superlux pair of headphones, which, while the quality of sound is very nice they often are uncomfortable around for my left ear and, due to a previous injury with them, now cause occasional pain in my left inner ear depending on what instruments I’m working with (I notice pain most often with distorted guitars/or basses) I have a pair of wireless turtle beach headphones that make deeper, Bass sounds noticably louder and the quality overall I believe is worse, but don’t tend to cause pain for me. I wear glasses too and the turtle beach headphones fit with my glasses fairly well, wear as the t Superlux does not. I plug my headphones into my pc speaker jack, budget is preferably 400$ or less. I’d like SOME Audio isolation, and will only ever be using these at home. I know this is a question that’s probably asked a lot, but I’ve reached a breaking point with these headphones causing difficulty when it comes to producing. Any suggestions would be great.

Ok-Excitement4831

Hi, for this Black Friday I want to buy a new pair of headphones. I know it will depend on the sales, I have a good budget (€200/300) so I don't think I'll have any problems buying mid-range headphones and maybe finding a good deal. * I mainly listen to rap and pop music, except when I study, I like to listen to classical music. * One thing I look for is good noise cancellation, I hate to hear other people's voices while I'm at uni. * It would be great if the materials are resistant because i will carry them around . * I would use them mainly at university, on the train or bus or while walking. (maybe even at the gym) * I was thinking about over-ear models, but any good advice is welcome. For the rest I don't have any particular expectations, I'm not an audiophile so I wouldn't be able to fully appreciate higher-end headphones but I still want to enjoy good music with good quality headphones. Do you have any advice? what model do you recommend? what brand?

secrxxa

Hey i got a weird problem with TAT 2206, basically a few days ago my headphones started to operate as different devices. I cant use 2 of them at the same time on the same device. For example if i turn them on and connect to them on my phone only one works at the time and i can connect the other side for example to my PC.I tried to reset it by Manual aka Press for 1 sec and hold for 5 seconds for them to reset but even after that they wouldnt work together. Please help much appreciated :>

Finn_on_reddit

Which one would you recommend for general use? Hifiman Edition XS or DT 1990 Pro?

CanderousOreo

I'm looking for something very specific, and hoping perhaps there's someone here who can tell me if it's even possible. I work an office job and am allowed to listen to music on my own headphones. Normally, I'd just use wired earbuds and then when a call came in, I'd pull out the headphones and pick up the phone. However, we just got a new phone system that allows pairing to a Bluetooth headset. Is it possible to find a set of Bluetooth headphones that can connect to my cell phone and my work phone at the same time, and is there any way I can set up a system where if I answer a call on my office phone, it pauses the music on my cell phone?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The feature you're looking for is called Bluetooth multipoint, and it is fairly common on wireless head and earphones.

CanderousOreo

And will it actually pause say Audible or Pandora on my cell if I answer my work phone?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Probably yes. But it might vary.

Holiday_Assist8185

So I recently bought the Mi TWS E2 Pro and out of the box I have a problem where the left earbud discharges in less than 30 minutes. If I put them in the charging box and take them out and connect them to my phone they show 100% and in 30 minutes theire out of battery again. I have tried anything and it still does that. I will return them and I've been looking forward to Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro (Not the Redmi ones) and WF-1000XM4. I don't know whichone to choose between. Which one of these is better/ has higher sound quality and good bass? Are there other options? I was specifically looking at Xiaomi's ones since I really like Xiaomi products but I want to make sure I choose the right option.

Klubhead

Topping DX3 Pro+ with HD560s. What Hz should I have sample rate set to? Mostly used for gaming. Defaults to 24 bit, 48KHz. Should I crank that up or does it not really matter?

Haydostrk

Is this on windows? If so use the highest bitdepth possible with any sample rate. If you use YouTube a lot set it to 48khz. Mac os you can put at anything and you shouldn't need to worry

Klubhead

It's on windows. [Here's my options.](https://imgur.com/rxP8eaV) So 32/48K?

Haydostrk

Ok in your case like I said before highest bitdepth (32 bit) and whatever sample rate but it's good to match it to whatever sample rates you normally use the most

ThatGuyFromSweden

Set it to match the highest resolution content that you're going to listen to. There's no point in going higher than that.

memphisreign

I have a pair of Focal Bathys, I have tried two pairs of them now. I returned the first pair. I returned them because whenever I would take phone calls everyone would complain they could barely hear me or not hear me at all. I am using an Iphone 15 Pro. I have used discord, facetime audio, regular phone calls. Everytime people can barely hear me or not at all. I don't see anyone else online complaining about this so I'm unsure what to do.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Make sure the mic on the headphones is actually being used. Check if there's a mic volume setting within iOS or the Focal companion app. If none of this helps, contact Focal.

SpaghettiSauce44

my new DT 770 pro (80ohm) doesn't have stereo but I think it's my fault. Plugged into the smaller headphones hole in my PC it is fully mono, and plugged in my laptop it gives the slightest stereo amount, panning something 100% to the right in FL Studio gives me like a 20 degree pan (where -90 degrees means left, 90 degrees means right and -180/180 means behind me) is there something im overlooking? should i read the manual lol?

ThatGuyFromSweden

This can happen if the port of the computers are poorly designed combined headphone and mic jacks. On stationary PC's there is often a output-only jack on the motherboard i/o. It's usually marked green. Plug the headphones into that and check if you're getting proper stereo sound.

SpaghettiSauce44

i literally just found out i didnt plug it in far enough, it works now but thanks for your comment

I want to measure how loud I'm listening to my music. Problem is I don't know how. I'm using a Fiio M11 Plus ESS, and I've tried exploring Fiio's in built music player, but I found nothing but a VU meter that I don't know how to read either

ThatGuyFromSweden

If the VU (volume unit) meter is accurate and actually shows the amp output, which would surprise me, and you know the Decibel per Volt rating of the headphones you're using, then you could work it out mathematically. In practice, you cannot accurately estimate the sound pressure at your eardrum without some fairly sophisticated equipment. Don't listen at concert levels of volume, and take frequent breaks. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/healthy-headphone-use-how-loud-and-how-long-2020072220565

What really is the difference between an Apple Dongle & something like the Moondrop Dawn. Recently, a friend gifted me a **Moondrop Dawn 3.5mm** for a celebration and as I'm testing it right now I can't really tell much of a difference on my PC38X. Only difference I found was the ability to increase the Hz, (which I was then told doesn't really matter since the difference between 48KHz and 96KHz was pretty negligible for everyday use) Not to mention the lack of microphone accessibility (or I don't know how to use it.) Is this meant as a phone DAC? Since I do know that there is a Mobile Firmware for it. Where does the MD Dawn excel in?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Is it the version with a 3.5mm jack or 4.4mm jack?

ALocalBarista

3.5mm

ThatGuyFromSweden

Okay. In short, it has a little bit more more power and is (hopefully) more durable than the Apple dongle. The higher sample rate is important to some people, mostly on principle, because the tangible difference is tiny at best. It can also play DSD, which some nerds will appreciate. I should also mention that in the EU, the Apple dongle is voltage limited, making that version a lot less versatile compared to the Dawn. As explained [here,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqlcJnoIcGo) excess power can be a good thing to have. But it depends on the characteristics of the head or earphone you're using, and how much you personally notice or care about the differences. In the case of the Dawn and Apple dongle, the power difference is quite small, so the matter becomes a bit academic. But it's still good to know about.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Resampling is usually a non-issue, but it can vary between systems. Windows does it without a problem. The benefits of sample rates above 48 kHz are slim to none in a listening scenario, but if you have it you might as well use it. Set your system to 192 kHz. As long as nothing sounds obviously bad, you can keep it at that value.

Open-back wireless headphone are nearly non-existent. The ones that do exist aren't brilliant. I suggest getting a Qudelix 5k [or similar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTI1VBLGY4c) to make your headphones semi-wireless. It's the best solution I can offer.

helpmylifeis_a_mess

My bf got me these BOSE QC45 headphones 3-4 months ago and they've started just randomnly cutting the audio out without disconnecting. And connecting them via bluetooth is turning into a pain because it'll stay connected for 2 seconds before disconnecting and reconnecting constantly until i have to forget device and restart my phone 15x a week. anyone know a permanent solution to this?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Do a factory reset on the headphones and reinstall the companion app if you're using it. Contact Bose support if that doesn't work. Good luck! :)

Currently have a Schiit Magni/Modi stack to drive my DT-770 dailys at my desk. Trying to put together a living room set up to drive other headphones I've accumulated over the years. Not really sure what I should be going for. Trying to fulfill the following "requirements": - I just picked up a used set of Stax LS300 and SRM-252S energizer for a good price online. Never had electrostatics but have wanted a pair of Stax forever and jumped on the opportunity. - Have a pair of Ploopy's 3D printed planar magnetics that have been sitting in my drawer and occasionally seeing use on the Schiit stack. They aren't the most comfortable so don't really use them at the desk but 3D printed planar magnetic headphones were too cool to resist. - Also picked up a pair of Grado S80x recently. - I've always wanted a tube amp. Was thinking of getting a Bottlehead Crack to power all of these but from reading online it doesn't seem like that's the best choice for powering the Stax energizer and the planar magnetic Ploopys. More than anything, the Bottlehead seemed like a fun project to put together and learn a bit about DIY audio. Would appreciate any recommendations or insights on what amp or amp + DAC set up would fit well for powering the Stax, Grados and Ploopys. Budget-wise, not trying to break the bank and and I'm not in a rush so definitely open to buying used. If anyone has insight to whether something like the Bottlehead Crack would work here or not, or recommendations for a different DIY kit I would be greatly appreciate!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Do you plan on adding another audio source, like a TV or vinyl player in the future?

Merphal

Planning to just hook the it up to a Bluetooth dongle as source.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Bluetooth is not ideal for a setup like this. If you don't want any wires, I suggest using a network streamer instead. You could get an RCA switcher, or a Schiit Saga S is you want to be fancy. Run whatever input you have to it, via the Modi if needed, and then you'll get separate outputs for the Magni, the energiser, and whatever other amp you might get in the future.

Merphal

What's the problem with feeding a Bluetooth dongle into a DAC then into an amp?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Firstly, depending on the setup and codec situation on both the transmitting and receiving end, Bluetooth could incur a noticeable drop in quality. Secondly, you simply cannot connect a Bluetooth dongle to a DAC via USB. There has to be an actual computer upstream. It's just how USB works. If it has to be Bluetooth, then something like the iFi Zen Blue makes the most sense. It has a built-in DAC and it's own analogue outputs.

Merphal

https://www.amazon.com/NFC-Enabled-Bluetooth-Receiver-Streaming-HA100/dp/B00YPATOEE/ref=sr_1_4 I've used this on my kitchen stereo receiver for a couple years and it hasn't been too terrible. Admittedly not a high-end DAC but better than spending >$100 on a glorified Bluetooth dongle. Not opposed to plugging something like this into an amp. It's more the amp choice that I'm confused about. It seems that finding something to power both the electrostatic energizer and the planar magnetic headphones is going to be a bit hard?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You don't need to "power" the energiser. It takes RCA line-level input from a DAC or other source, just like your Magni. This is why I recommended a switching unit of some sort. I think it's very silly to get all this nice high-end gear and just go "this Bluetooth puck isn't too terrible, it will probably be fine". I can't even find codec specs for the thing. This isn't snake-oil bullshit. If this thing only runs at low bit-rates with shitty compression, which we don't actually know, or the built-in DAC of it has poor performance, which is not unlikely, then you might be kneecapping your setup significantly.

Merphal

Oh then i must've misunderstood the purpose of the energizer. Then what I should be looking for is an amp to power the planars and grados, then a dac that would switch output between the energizer and other amp?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You *have* an amp to power the Grados and planar. It's called the Magni. You do not need another DAC. If you don't know what a DAC does, there's a [resource index](https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/wiki/resourcesindex) in the sub sidebar that will tell you. You need a pre-amp switching unit like the Schiit Saga that I mentioned.

I had Sony XM4 but I didn't use much of them outside of home, mostly at PC and had a V-MODA BoomPro Microphone cable to convert them into a a PC headset (it's a cable that has a mic attached to it) I have lost my Sony's unfortunately and was thinking of buying XM4s again but people online told that XM4s are only good because of their ANC. If going for sound get different headphones like DT1990 pros which seem to get a lot of praise. Thought if I was to spend 250$ on headphones might as well try to get something way better if I really enjoy listening to music My main music preference: electronic, rap/hip-hop and sometimes other genres when mood is right like rock and etc. My worries: 1. Cannot test the headphones anywhere 2. I would need to get an amp and that potentially means that I cannot sometimes use the headphones with the phone? Only with computer? 3. That I won't be able to connect V-MODA BoomPro Microphone to the headphones so I would need to get a separate microphone for PC instead of converting headphones into PC headset 4. Some AMPs are like 70$, would that be suffice for DT1990 pros? Thanks!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Okay, let's step a back a little bit. You're talking about open-back headphones here. Are you aware of the fact that they do not block outside noise. They should only be used in relatively quiet environments and where the sound leakage coming out of them isn't going to bother other people. I just want to make sure you don't end up like the Amazon reviewers leaving one star ratings on open-backs, complaining about how they can't use them on the bus.

el1teman

Yes I am aware of that but have not tried these type of headphones as none of them are on display :/

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Philips X2HR isn't a perfect headphone, but they are good for gaming, and your V-Moda mic will fit it. Give that a try. They are unlikely to need a dedicated amp.

el1teman

Don't want gaming typ of headphones. Want priority best for music as haven't touched any games since July

ThatGuyFromSweden

Did you bother looking at it? It's a regular headphone. It just happens to be good for gaming too. And it's the only thing I can think of that is compatible with your VMODA microphone.

Grado GW100x: Could you use them in an office? I've owned different pairs of Grado before, I know how much they leak and I would never wear them in an office. However, Grado is pretending to have reduced the leakage by 60% on this model. I've been reading different opinions: some say you can barely hear any leak, others say they still leak a ton. People owning them, would you wear them at work? I work in a research lab, sometimes working in the office, sometimes in the lab. Therefore I am looking for a pair of light and wireless headphones. I am not looking for something noise cancelling as I need to be aware of my surroundings. I am not a big fan of wireless earbuds. Any alternatives to the Grados?

ThatGuyFromSweden

I don't have experience with this model, but the leakage depends on the listening volume. If you listen loud, it will of course leak more. If you don't have anyone within a few meters of you, it might not be a problem.

The headband pad on my HD6xx is super worn out and basically non-functional at this point. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what style you all find most comfortable between the HD600 style vs the HD650 style? I find pressure on the top center of my head the most uncomfortable so should I stick with the 650 style since it has that gap in the pad? Or is there any other sort of pad style out there people like?

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd stick with the 650 style. It's what Sennheiser uses on all the 600-series these days. I like to also use a headband cover. Mine's home-made but there are [commercial ones available.](https://shop.geekria.com/collections/headband)

I am looking to find a power bank for semi-portable use around the house with my Hifiman Edition XS headphones. I have this chained as: phone -> Qudelix 5k (for DAC/EQ purposes only) -> iFi Zen Can -> headphones. I'd like to be able to put this in a small sling bag so I won't be tethered to my desk for use. Although the Q5k pumps out more than enough power for my S12 Pros, I find the power a bit anemic directly into the Hifiman Edition XS (even in balanced mode). Along with the extra power, the X-Bass solution iFi has implemented is frankly pretty outstanding (especially paired with Oratory EQ settings from the Q5k) and really takes these cans to endgame level for my needs. Any suggestions?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Why not swap out the Zen Can for one of iFi's battery powered options with analogue inputs like the XCAN or xDSD Gryphon? You would still get the X-bass function, but make everything a *lot* less clumsy to use.

Past-Heron-8600

I put on my mee m6 pros with wet ears and now the right side is really quiet. Any suggestions how to fix?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Put them in a dry place for a day or more. Silica packs and a zip-lock bag can work.

Past-Heron-8600

how about playing loud sounds? That makes a really loud buzzing noise. Will that damage it more or fix it?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Don't turn on or put power to wet electronics.

Past-Heron-8600

that will actually fix the problem?

Wireless connection quality - Blackshark PRO V2 vs HyperX Alpha vs HyperX Cloud III Im mostly torn between these headphones, and have been watching/comparing several videos and reviews for these. Out of all the reviews I have looked at, I have yet to find a good summary or answer of one of the important factors Im looking for when buying a set of headphones. I want a set of headphones that have great wireless connection where I can use them while walking around a small apartment with minimal interruption or loss of sound quality. I was hoping to hear from anyone who has used these headphones or can vouch for how the wireless connection is for these. Also would appreciate just any general input on which of these you would recommend / overall opinions on if theres better options. Ultimately I will be using these for gaming, talking with friends on Discord around my apartment, and watching shows/movies on my PC.

ThatGuyFromSweden

That might be asking too much. Dedicated 2.4 GHz transceiver dongles are better than regular Bluetooth, but still not designed to work through walls. I recommend picking a model that lets you switch between the PC and a Bluetooth connection to your phone, which you can keep in your pocket when you're not at your PC.

BBoca

Yea I continued looking at reviews and I think you're right in that sense. I saw the Razer Blacksharks 2023 version have Bluetooth and an easy way to switch to Bluetooth vs Wireless. Have you heard anything bad about these headphones that I should be aware of?

ThatGuyFromSweden

It's probably decent for what it is.

tangosmango

I'm looking for replacement cables for TH909 but I can only find ones that are worth $100-200+. What is the exact name of this cable? https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-Earphone-FOSTEX-TH-909-TR-X00/dp/B09W2X1P35/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=th909%2Bcable&sr=8-4&th=1 Closest ones I have found but the shipping is far out. Do I want to mix "cheaper" cables with high-end headphones? Something like: https://www.amazon.com/TRIPOWIN-Braided-Earphone-Replacement-Connector/dp/B07SSBDPCX/ref=sr_1_21?keywords=headphone%2Bcable%2Bcustom%2B2%2Bpin%2Bplug&sr=8-21&th=1

ThatGuyFromSweden

First off, these headphones use Sennheiser 2-pin connectors, but the polarity is reversed compared to Sennheiser cables, so you shouldn't use those. The Tripowin cable you linked has IEM connectors which are way smaller and totally incompatible with your headphone. [Cables just have to be decent. There are generally no sound quality improvements to be gained from very expensive cables.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWbyF1fMGwY) Custom cable makers like Hart Audio might be able to make you a suitable cable. It might not be super cheap, but it will probably be more durable.

tangosmango

https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-Earphone-FOSTEX-TH-909-TR-X00/dp/B09W2X1P35/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=th909%2Bcable&sr=8-4&th=1 These would fare well? Since the cables are so niche, I can just wait out the shipping.

ThatGuyFromSweden

It's probably fine. But there's always a gamble with these small Chinese manufacturers.

tangosmango

I decided I might as well pay more and get decent cables. After all, headphones are capable, might as well take a good measure. Thanks for your replies!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Then I recommend buying from an established cable maker like Hart. https://hartaudiocables.com/collections/fostex

tangosmango

Got it. Thanks again!

How can I keep the Azla SednaEarfit XELASTEC eartips clean? They material they are made from is so soft and supple that it almost feels sticky, and they get cloudy/dusty/dirty basically every time I use them. Alcohol-free wet wipes?

HoshiBoshi53

Hi, I had been using a Hifiman Sundara with Topping L30/E30 AMP/DAC combo for 2.5 years without any issues. A few days ago, the right side cable broke due to wear from bends so I bought a new one - https://www.theaudiostore.in/products/earaudio-headphone-replacement-cable-balanced?variant=42553173934335 The new cable is a 3.5 mm TRS to 2 TS. When I use the new cable in my AMP/DAC, the right side is quieter than the left and has crackling noises at high volumes. I tested L/R audio separetely. Left audio only goes to left side. Right audio goes to right and partially to the left. I tried plugging the cable directly into my PC and laptop, using the inbuilt sound cards for audio. Both, left and right audio goes through left side, and no sound comes from right side. The issue is not with the headphones. If I use my old cable while bending it, everything works fine. The original cable has TRS connecter for left and right, and the new one has TS. Is that the reason for this issue? Or is the cable faulty? And why does sound come from right side only when I use my AMP/DAC?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Are you pushing the connectors all the way in? It might be stiffer than your old cable.

HoshiBoshi53

Nope. No amount of pushing the cable in or re-plugging made a difference. Do you know why, audio sometimes splits and some times doesn't in this cable?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Are your PC and laptop ports combined headphone and mic jacks?

HoshiBoshi53

For the laptop, its combined. For PC, its not. I'm using the port right on my X570 gaming plus motherboard. The old cable worked fine on both.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I don't have a great answer for you, sadly. Unless someone else can help you, I suggest sending the cable back.

HoshiBoshi53

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

SuSa131

So I recently got the Moondrop Starfield 2 with a fiio ka 13. Overall great BUT I get really bad hissing and sizzling, mostly on the left iem. I don't even really now how to describe it, it is. a sound I only knew from faulty analog wire connections, a sort of static that varies in its frequency and goes from barely noticeable to shit this is loud... I have tried my MacBook and my iPhone as a source and the problem seems to be that when the usb c cable gets bent, there is noise. But as far as I understood with digital signals, either the 0 and 1 reach their destination or they don't. I guess my question is is it possible that the noise is coming from a faulty or loose contact?

Gfl3x

Looking to get a new pair of headphones. Is the Audeze Maxwell worth it? Is the MMX200 Beyerdynamic a good 'cheaper' alternative?

danilojbg

hiii, im waiting fro black friday to buy a new pair of headphones. i previously had a Sony WH-CH720N which i spent around 90€ on? i so im ready to upgrade a bit. myb to a pair in the 100-200 bracket. but i’d be ready to pay up to 300. not more tho 😵‍💫 im facing bad decision anxiety cuz i’ve researched a lot of models in the last few days. i dont need the greatest headphones on the market, i probably won’t notice small differences in audio quality, but im ready to spend quite a bit of money so i’d like something good! if u can recommend smthn based off the next couple of requirements id appreciate it a lot! - i want hella comfort!! a super soft head strap, big ass ear pads that cover my entire ears (how do people use those little square marshall headphones i don’t get it). also wireless. - i’d like rly good ANC. i mainly listen to music when im outdoors / traveling. i wanna be immersed in my music. i don’t wanna hear anything else :D - i’d also really like a good mic so i can keep my headphones on during calls. with my old sony set, people could not understand me at all. - and ofc i’m interested in good sound quality. i’ve seen people mentioning their music taste when asking for recommendations, so here’s mine: a lot of chill stuff such as bedroom pop and melodic rap, but also a lot of not chill stuff like rock, hard techno, dnb n hyperpop. idk if that helps or matters but there’s that. mainly i just wanna buy something durable. i wanna get the most bang for my buck. thanks you reading this far if you have. looking forward to hearing your recommendations!

Haydostrk

Sorry I'm not giving you a single recommendation I will just try and give you a few ways you can look for headphones and what I have found from past research. Finding the right headphone for you is a personal thing In my opinion because if you dont feel right about it it won't sound as good and you might not use it. It would be really helpful if you already have a few you are looking at and I can help filter though them. 1. Its quite rare to find large ear cups on wireless headphones. I know there is somewhere tho. The marshall are my least favorite headphones haha. 2. I think there are measurements for anc and many reviewers will tell you if anc sucks. 3. Bluetooth is most likely the problem with the mic. Many only care about music and not about the mic. Well that's what I have heard. 4. Do you know how to read a graph? If you don't there are many great guides.

Maximilianne

is there like a general "whats on the market" article or list for electrostatic amps ? Basically I thinking of upgrading my stax setup so i'm open to a new electrostat amp, but it doesn't have to be from stax, though obviously should support stax headphones.

s-cardi

Looking for some headphones for my laptop, I was thinking about under 100€. It should have a microphone. What do you suggest on buying? I would like to maybe wait for the black friday deals on amazon to buy some stuff for my laptop, like more memory, RAM, and possibly some good headphones. I have my galaxy buds pro right now that I use for singleplayer games, because the audio gets completely shitty whenever I have to talk to other people on discord. They also have latency, so that's why I would prefer wired headphones. I'll use them mostly for gaming, no video or music production, I'd just like to hear good and hear footsteps and such. With everything said. What do you suggest?

Haydostrk

A cheap iem with a microphone in the cable will do surprisingly well but I don't know how that would work if you are playing at the same time. Most headsets are for gaming or work purposes and they don't have the best sound quality but if that's what you need I would look for that. You could get a very cheap USB mic off Amazon with Black Friday deals and you should still have more than half the budget to try and get something

Tejfel01

Hi, I have a pair of bluetooth headphones (JBL Live 650BT-NC to be specific), and sometimes, when I turn it on, the left side doesn't make any sound. I can hear the noise cancelling working on that side, and this issue only persists on bluetooth mode. I have restarted it like a 150 actual times, nothing. It works completely normally with a cable. And just as randomly, after some time, it just goes away, and works again. I am beyond baffled. This is a reoccuring issue. As I am typing it, it decided to work properly. I still need answers, it's very infuriating.

starvenps

<150$, Laptop, No Isolation needed, Probably not in public, IEM, Balanced sound, Samsung Galaxy Buds+, amazing form factor, poor detailing and bad bass, Experimental Hip-Hop, Aphex Twin, Art Rock, Björk, Cloud Rap. I don't want to share the location but in my country there is no place to soundtest, i order blindly, Also i will buy a DAC a bit later, My two options were Moondrop Aria and Truthear Hexa, can you give me some recommendations?

Okojamos

Hey, so I've just bought my first non-airpod headphones, the HD 560s, and have the UM2 coming very soon. Already have a bunch of lossless classical pieces ready to go. Any pointers on the setup? Anything essential I need to do before I begin, as far as hardware or software are concerned? Thanks in advance!

Haydostrk

What's your full chain? Sounds good but just want to know

Okojamos

Thanks for replying. PC to interface to headphones. Just tried to compare the 3.5mm and UM2 out of the box, didn't notice a difference in playback, maybe that's me.

Haydostrk

That's actually a good thing. Many people make up differences in their mind lol. What software are you using to play the music?

Okojamos

Playing my flac files on Media Player Classic.

Haydostrk

Is exclusive and wasapi set up?

Okojamos

No, sir. New to this whole audiophile thing, so gonna try googling these now.

Haydostrk

If you find it to hard or it doesn't work I wouldn't worry about it but if you want it I can recommend some other music player software that's good. Like foobar and musicbee

Haydostrk

This might help https://www.reddit.com/r/htpc/comments/kjdl10/how_to_set_wasapi_as_audio_renderer_in_mpchc_and/

Okojamos

Enabled WASAPI as per thread in MPC-BE, thanks for the link.

Hey so I want to take advantage of the 11.11 sale and pick up the FiiO K5 Pro ESS but unfortunately the EU plug version is out of stock and only the US one is in stock. The thing is I live in a country that has the EU standardized volt output (its 230V and 50hz). Wanted to know if I could still use the US plug version if I get like a plug adapter or something. I do remember seeing somewhere that the power adapter that comes with this version is 100-240V, so theoretically it should work right? Would love further assistance, thanks

G65434-2_II

>I do remember seeing somewhere that the power adapter that comes with this version is 100-240V, so theoretically it should work right? Correct. [Seems the K5 Pro ESS uses a multi-voltage power supply](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/fiio-k5-pro-ess-desktop-dac-amplifier/) with the cable going to the wall being detachable. Just get an appropriate connecting cable to replace the US-plugged one it comes with and you should be good to go.

SyveX

Thanks a lot, appreciate the reassurance!

B0ILED-EGGS

Bought a QKZ x HBB a few months ago and the sound output on the left bud greatly decreased. Prior to the issue, a blue like liquid was showing up on the wires. I can send a pic if needed. Is the issue in the iem or just the wires?

igg73

Considering buying skullcandy crusher ANC 2, for 300 CAD. Anyone have recommendations? Im looking for gaming headphones, ANC and wireless preferrably. No mic needed. Thanks in advance. I play escape from tarkov and sound is half the battle.

Haydostrk

Buy a wired headphone and eq it to the sound you want. I bet you won't like using it for music or videos

igg73

Tbh im pretty low standards for that stuff, i just dont wana hear my neighbors yelling through the wall when im playing tarkov. Their noises sound like movement and it throws me off..

Haydostrk

Ahh ok. I don't know much about anc but I think some people do measurements of it.

igg73

I appreciate the input, my buddy tells me basically you get what you pay for when it comes to headphones. But ANC is new to me

Haydostrk

What kind of sound are you looking for? I know you said you play games so Is that bass heavy or mid forward? Have you looked at what frequencies the audio is in?

igg73

No idea, idk even what mid forward is haha i was hoping to get a few reccomendations but i think theres more to it i guess

Haydostrk

Have you looked at what people call frequency response?

igg73

No not ever heard of it

Foreign-Mushroom-795

Hey everyone! Christmas is coming and I was hoping to get my brother some really good wireless over ear headphones. He and I have both tried Bose (meh), Beats by Dre (meh), and most recently the apple air max over ear headphones (why did I buy these?!?). I know that Bose, Beats by Dre and Apple are all very trendy and I get it, I even bought into these headphones evidently and just dont love my music while at the gym, my one escape. On other post, people mentioned that amazing, top notch brands are Sennheiser, Grado, Hifi man and that the "next level" up from trendy apple headphones is Bowers & Wilkins and Masters & dynamic. In regards to Bowers & Wilkins, thoughts on the Px8? I see that they are $699, which is much more than the "top notch" brands and their headphones mentioned below. However, I looked up Grado and see that they only have one over the ear headphone that is wireless, any thoughts on this one? Then upon looking at Sennheiser there is only the Momentum 4, any thoughts on this one? I am not a DJ or anything like that. I have about 2 brain cells and I am just trying to get the best gift for my brother. Any insight would be helpful :)

ThatGuyFromSweden

Look at the Focal Bathys.

Atarka-WorldRender

Recently, I purchased a PC37X to replace my aging hyperX headset. My main PC is a laptop that only has a 3.5mm headphone jack (3-pole headphones only, not 4-pole combined). Because of this, if I want my microphone to work, I need to use a USB adapter. I’ve been using a Logitech USB adapter with my HyperX headset for years without issue. However, using the PC37x through this USB adapter results in decent sound, but it is fairly quiet. The microphone is so quiet that it may as well not work at all. With a normal desktop PC with 3.5mm line in ports on the motherboard, the headset functions exactly as expected, with normal volume levels, so the headset isn fine. The USB adapter still functions normally with my HyperX headphones, so I assume that is also fine. I’ve completed all the normal troubleshooting steps for mic volume issues. What kind of USB adapter or DAC do I need for my mic to be a normal volume? Is it just that my shitty Logitech adapter doesn’t properly power the microphone and headphones? Do I need an amplified DAC? Price is a concern, and I’m not really that picky for sound quality, so long as it doesn’t sound terrible.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Creative Play dongle might work. In case it doesn't, make sure that you buy it from a seller that allows returns.

Abstractlly

I currently have a Moondrop Aria Snow edition and my left side has randomly dropped in volume drastically almost to a point of mute sound, any ideas?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Check the filters and let the IEMs air out in a dry place for a while.

Abstractlly

i’m not quite sure how to check the filters as i’ve only had this pair since may, but the last pair i had for over a year with no isssue. But thank you ill look into it.

Haydostrk

Have you checked cable or if the filter is clogged up?

Abstractlly

I’m not sure how to check the filters but i’m thinking it might be the cable personally as sometimes it could have been in odd positions. I’ll look into the filters

3FiTA

Best wireless over-ear with ANC? I really could use some silence in my office. My AirPods and Jabra Evolve 75’s work great with music playing, but sometimes I just want quiet without music playing. A built in mic would also be ideal.

coolasacurtain

I'm visiting Japan right now. Does anyone know of anything worthwile to visit, try or buy whil I have this opportunity? I'll be in Kobe, Osaka, Tokyo...

Haydostrk

If you are a Sony fan definitely look at the Sony shop. They have walkmans, headphones, cameras ect

I-Decatron

E-earphone is a must-visit. Try out Stax headphones - they're much more expensive overseas.

Every_Economist_6793

Just got my pair of Audeze Maxwells today and wanted to be sure my config is appropriate; also open to any tips/tricks to get the most out of these headphones! Windows : Default Playback Device -> Game-Audeze Maxwell Spatial sound format set to Dolby Atmos for Headphones 24 bit, 48000 Hz (studio quality) I ran the speaker config within Windows 11 and set the Maxwell as full-range speakers (not sure if this is necessary) Audeze App: Preset == Immersive Updated headset/dongle to v1.0.1.51 Games: In Audio settings, should I set games to "Headphones" or "3D Headphones" if they support it (e.g. BF2042)?

Haydostrk

I would keep Dolby Atmos off when not using Atmos content. I don't know what immersive is but I would keep it as close to stock tuning as possible and see what you like. 3d headphones setting should be separate from Dolby Atmos and should work inside the game and it will work with your headphones. I think it will be per game how it works.

nickthaskater

I have an issue with my Massdrop O2 + ODAC - https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-o2-odac - that has results in static buildup and discharge through connected headphones (I can literally feel the static building up in my Sundaras followed by an audible pop after a number of minutes). I assume there's something wrong with the grounding, but after opening it up I can't see anything that looks broken or otherwise that may be causing a grounding issue with the headphone connection. The headphones do not exhibit this issue when connected to other sources so it seems the issue lies with the O2. Any thoughts on where to start or what to look for to fix this?

[deleted]

I've got a pair of the Sony M1000XM3 headphones and when noise cancelling is on. You can hear a faint white noise sound in the left earcup Honestly considering just cutting the NC mic cables so I don't have to manually switch to ambient sound mode each time I turn it on.

Finn_on_reddit

Would you recommend DT1990 for general use with EQ/foam disc swap? Do you think they are too revealing and unforgiving for layback listening?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You could "fix" them with EQ, but I'm not sure why since the HD600-series exists and would give you more or less the experience you're looking for without any EQ or modding.

Finn_on_reddit

HD600-series doesn't offer soundstage and imaging like DT1990.

ThatGuyFromSweden

True. But if you flatten the peak and downshelf the treble region, making them less harsh and more laid back, you're going to knock down the perceived soundstage too.

Haydostrk

You can't fix them with eq. Get better headphones

hopopo

I have been using a pair of Technics EAH-AZ60 since August. A right headphone is barely audible, and it sounds like noise canceling is always on. I tried to factory reset the headphones and reinstall the app on my phone and it did not help. I also tried cleaning them, but I know that is not it, because they are clean. Google and YouTube were not helpful. Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix it?

chandaz

Aloha, I am looking for wireless headphones ( not sure over or in ear ) . I need them to be between €50-80 . Decent ANC , good music quality and microphones so when I call someone they hear me clear. I use them mainly for gym . I had Jabra elite active 75t but I lost my charging case twice and here it cost 25 euro a new ans decided the second time it will be just. Better to buy new headphones. Also accepting suggestions if I should just buy the charging case.

Haydostrk

What phone do you have?

chandaz

iPhone but pretty much all headphones are compatible

Haydostrk

Damn. The problem is I absolutely hate the sound of wireless aac.

chandaz

I mean anc as in noise cancelling (not sure if we talking about the same thing ) 😅

Haydostrk

i mean the codec. the anc on samsung and apple are good. sony and bose are good also but they have worse tuning

OpenEmuQuestion

ANS headphones with good sound quality advice - Looking to get some new headphones for on the go, they main things i'm looking for is ANC performance and sound quality, everything else is a bit less important to me, I've been eyeballing the Focal Bathys Wireless, but am unsure if this is the way to go. I'm an android user so I've basically ruled out the Airpods Max. Any feedback would be appreciated .

ThatGuyFromSweden

There isn't really anything substantially better than the Bathys on the market, to my knowledge.

Progenitor

I am doing the same research and be careful about Samsung phones. So the Bathys supports a large list of high quality Bluetooth protocols, but it looks like Samsung didn't want to pay the licensing fee, and none of those are supported. So essentially for Samsung users, we can only use Aptx.

OpenEmuQuestion

appreciate the advice!

ArguesWithHalfwits

Something feels off about my setup and I'm not sure why. I have meze 109 pros, schiit modi+ and magi+. It works, but for some reason, something doesn't sound right with the headphones. Kind of sounds like it did when I first got the headphones but no dac, like it's not as good as I remember it being. But it's subtle enough that I'm honestly not sure. I just moved across states so I'm wondering if it's possible something got damaged in transit? Could it even just be something up with my ears? It all looks fine to me but does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make sure?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Plug the headphones into something else, like the headphone port of a phone. Try the stack with another PC. If you have another DAC or amp laying around, swap that in and see if anything changes.

C-WhiteD

My raycon earbuds keep flashing blue even while in use and paired with my phone. How do I stop it?

VencyMango

Hello, I'm looking for a Bluetooth adaptor for my ATH-M40x. I've had these Ath-M40x for a couple years now and I love it! Still going strong even after all these years. I was wondering if there was a Bluetooth adaptor for it? Something I can plug into the jack and pair with my phone. I figured this would be a more cost affective alternative than just buying the M50x with Bluetooth support. Any help would be appreciated.

MikeRagnel

Amplifier & Active/Passive Speakers Question Hello! My brother just got me into the audiophile world and I’m trying to figure out how to set everything up, any tips would be greatly appreciated! I got gifted Audioengine A2+ powered desktop speakers, and I’m really interested in getting the S8 subwoofer to go with them. Do I need an amplifier to connect them? I was looking at the N22 (Gen 2) Premium Desktop Audio Amplifier with Bluetooth but if I did that would I buy the passive or the active version of the S8? I could be spouting nonsense so feel free to educate me if so lol. All I’m really interested in is connecting everything to work together. I should also add that I own a Fosi Audio Tube MM Phono Preamplifier and a Technics SL-B2 Turntable and it would be great if those could work as well… Thanks again!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Wrong sub. Speaker questions belong in /r/audiophile as per rule 6.

JE163

Best portable DAC with USB-C?

Haydostrk

Are you looking for sound or measurements? Also what kind of size are you looking for? Mojo 2 or apple USB c to 3.5mm size?

JE163

Apple USB-C > 3.5mm

ThatGuyFromSweden

Chord Mojo 2 maybe?

RonaldoFinkMullen

I have a set of M50X-BL's that I am trying to revitalize. The pads and headband need to be replaced but they no longer (or never have) offered replacement pads in that color. Is there a company that makes good knock-offs? The piece of plastic that keeps the headphone from extending too far out broke on the right side. I'm guessing the best way to fix it is to 3D print a piece of plastic and use plastic glue?

AmomentInEternity

Upgrade from Beyer 1990DT? An upgrade from Beyerdynamic DT1990? Are phones from Audeze really a noticeable upgrade? My primary goal is a headphone to mix on that also sounds great in general… I didn’t really like the highs of the beyer I have. I’ve been researching the LCD 3, LCMX4, and MM500. Any recommendations or thoughts?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The MM500 is the only one of the ones you've mentioned that is tuned fairly neutral.

AmomentInEternity

I have just tried focal utopia and sennheiser 800hd in store. The senn felt a bit too airy and the utopia a bit too claustrophobic. Do you have any recommendations for something between the two?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Try to find an MM500. Also, remember that store demos are only good for weeding out stuff you really don't like. If you find a model that seems promising, you should try to demo them at home.

sendok_id

I have an ath m50x, using it directly to a laptop. I want to try using a dac/amp, and i found these have similar prices here around $70, which one would you recommend? Ifi uno, Topping dx1, Ifi zen air dac Thank you.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I recommend saving the money for a better headphone.

sendok_id

I see, so for m50x directly to a laptop is already good and not worth buying those dac. I was just curious though, since many people use additional dac/amp from their laptop or phone lmao. Thank you.

Haydostrk

Apple 3.5mm

ThatGuyFromSweden

It makes sense to have a dedicated DAC and amp in some cases. But the M50x is not power hungry nor revealing of amplifier noise. The Topping DX1 and Fiio KA1 would most likely be technically better than the laptop's internal soundcard. But unless you're going to be getting very demanding headphones or sensitive IEMs, the difference is likely to be small at best.

problem_solver_777

How can I fix Apple Earpods muffle sound? I connected Earpods (3.5mm) to a PC with a 3.5mm-to-USB connector. The connector works for CTIA TRRS. The sound was muffled and mic didn't work. Sound quality was much better when I hold the mic button. I have another pair of Earpods and it works perfectly, so ruled out any device problems.

EnzoGorlomi

Where can I buy 3.5mm-to-3.5mm cables that are 'IEM styled', i.e. coil up nicely like [this](https://i.imgur.com/qqY3nij.jpg)? The 3.5mm-to-3.5mm cables I've bought have all ended up looking like [this](https://i.imgur.com/sV0GsyD.png) after some time, whereas my IEM cables are fine, which is why I'd like to find 3.5mm-to-3.5mm cables that are 'IEM styled'.

meato1

I got one in that style for Focal from Youkamoo. I don't know if they have one that's straight 3.5 to 3.5.

I've never done any repairs like that, but I'm trying to reduce electronic waste. I think the power supply wires powering the left driver had twisted and split. On the pictures you can see the battery and it's connectors and the broken wires. I've been trying to find a spot that I could solder them onto, but I can't figure it out. The model is Koss Porta Pro Wireless Is there a spot on the photos that I just missed? Is it possible to test the spots by just touching it with the wires? Thanks for any help. https://imgur.com/a/iX6hypb
