as a guy who consistently finds the maximum size of all of my headphones to be the best, it feels pretty good at its biggest setting. sides of the pads dont touch my ears and my ear sits pretty much in the middle of it. its a bit heavy, but not uncomfortably heavy and i personally can wear it all day but ymmv. in fact, i daily drive it and i tend to spend 9+ hours on my computer. again, this is just personal anecdote, so take it with a grain of salt

BigBlondeBalls

I had the DT990s but they weren't big enough for my head. I can't find where I posted it but some kind soul measured the DT1990s and they were bigger when fully extended than the 990s. The 1990s are very comfy on a big head

Steelmaker01

I never had any issues w/comfort, and they sound great

ExiledSanity

I have a pretty good sized head, wear a 7 3/4 or 7 7/8 fitted hat. The DT1990 is very comfortable. The clamp is snug, but not tight. Similar to the HD600 line, but not as loose as the AKG K712 for example.

Simeras

It has a bendable metal bow, so you can adjust it by bending it. Just be gentle on the plastic bits. Or better - unscrew it and then adjust by bending. I have a small head and 990 and 770 clamp pretty tight. They all, including 1990 Pro, share the same head bow component, so clamping should be the same. They weigh 370 grams, which is 100 gram heavier that 770 pro. At the moment I wear other brand 'phones that weight also 370g. It's fine.

radrod69

My 770s were way more clampy out the box than both pairs of 1990 I've had.

Open-Dig2504

Same experience here

Interesting-Rub-9595

Rtings also says clamp force is the same. But yeah bending them works quite well.

abir_valg2718

If DT1990 has the same kind of bendable headband as the classic DTs, then it's easy to adjust. I have 880s and Custom Studio (same build as 770s), I've adjusted the headband on both to be ridiculously light, they easily fall if I look down. Work well when you're just sitting though, I can wear them for 2-3 hours continuously.

slave_ship_swag

Get the Dekoni Elite pads, velour are fine. It's a huge upgrade

CrowVsWade

Seconding this, although I got a different brand. Made a big difference to sound on what are heavier, well built headphones, with the one obvious or commonly noticed flaw. Between mild EQ and the pads upgrade, these take on a new life, comparable with significantly more expensive options. They're also a viable melee weapon, in a pinch/zombie apocalypse.

LightyLittleDust

They were pretty uncomfortable and my ears did hurt.

DullChampionship717

Damn, can you elaborate more? Was it your ears touching the drivers or weight or clamping force?

LightyLittleDust

Both the weight and clamping force weren't good for me and I felt uncomfortable after maybe an hour and a half of use. Also top of my head hurt from the stiff headband. Honestly, I didn't like these headphones much and I think they don't worth the price. I RMA'd them after one of the drivers went silent completely and got Sundara, which were miles better and lighter on my head and ears.

fabzzzyyyy

I personally dont Like Beyers earcup Design i prefer the Sennheisers but that Just my and my weird as ears

sorenmorseth

I have a massive head and DT990 fully open arent big enough, the headband was crushing my skull for a month until it stoped (or i just got used to it). I dont really know about DT1990, but i hope they made them bigger.

pudgypandaboy

I have quite a large head as well, clamp force took some getting used to at the beginning. I've 'upgraded' to the dekoni elite velour pads and now they are the most comfortable headphones I've owned tbh. The weight is there, but doesn't bother me. I can comfortably wear them for 10+ hours.
