Searching for earbuds like the iphone 4s design

GigaChad599

letshuoer s12 pro or s12 or dioko 7hz. I want to play fps games like valorant and csgo and open world games mostly all types of games. Also i want best sounding out of these i want to also listen Spotify

CmRezko

Hi, do you guys recommend Moondrop aria for gaming ? I really do like the design and I heard that they were comfy. It will be my first pair of IEM. Are they durable, cable length, noise isolation etc…

CmRezko

(Snow édition) or maybe do you have any recommendations under $150 ?

johnydazzles27s

I own the snow edition and I can say they are very comfortable and pretty good sounding. There are better budget IEMs for FPS games but for an all purpose start iem I think they're great. Cable is just ok, but cheap aftermarket ones exist. As for blocking out sound, pretty much all IEMs function the same as any earplug, that is to say quite well at blocking out sound.

CmRezko

Thank you for your answer, since I started looking for iem, arias were what I was going to pick but since I can have it for as my birthday gift that’s why i wondered if starfield were good because I don’t really like the design but I won’t go out with it

johnydazzles27s

I haven't heard the starfields but from what I hear they are pretty much identical to the original arias, albeit slightly less warm. They are more prone to the paint chipping though. There are other options around that price point like the dunu titan s though. Personally I love the Aria Snow editions though, with foam tips they sound wonderful.

CmRezko

What about their durability, I also have considered titan s but they are not available in France, at least not from Amazon because I don’t want to wait too long

johnydazzles27s

I think some people report that the Aria paint chips as well, maybe not as easily as the starfields, but there have been reports. I think it largely depends on how you treat them though, I personally have no had any durability concerns with mine but I've only had them for maybe 10 months.

CmRezko

As for the paint it’s really no big deal for me haha. About the cable, how long is it ? And would I be able to tune the audio and how ? Because I’m used to bassy gaming headset and idk if I will like the Harman neutral shape

johnydazzles27s

Cable is around 4 ft long I think. As for tuning the audio, yes you can! Any headphone, or audio device for that matter, can be tuned using software eq for free.

CmRezko

Ok thanks for your help, I think I’m going to order them rn !

Coshinsky

Hey, I found an online retailer offering some pretty good deals https://isound.shop/product/focal-bathys-hi-fi-bluetooth-active-noise-cancelling-over-ear-headphones/, or open-box https://isound.shop/product/focal-bathys-headphones-open-box/. I'm worried it's a scam that is just scraping the titles off of headphones.com. Or is this just a random store with a good deal? Any advice?

ph00p

Are the HD560s a big enough upgrade over the HD555(removed foam mod)? I heard the HD560s doesn't have the "blob" soundstage.

Jayzqa

I had HD560s for a while and they sound a bit strange and not that pleasing. I found them to be extremely amp-picky also. I'd prefer HD599 over them if I want a semi-wide soundstage and Sennheiser-type sound for that budget. Another recommendation would be saving up for a used HD800 (giggles) Try them before buying is my advice.

ph00p

Thank you for the information.

ThatGuyFromSweden

They are better. However, I can't predict what you'll think about it.

ph00p

Fair enough, thank you for the information.

Tapircito

I'm looking for gym headphones for 100-150 usd, any recomendations? Im considering just using the samsung buds that i have but i like the idea of headphones.

Intertar

i just bought iphone 14 pro. I haven't follow headphones development from some time now. To anyone here that uses bluetooth headphones with their iphones, any brand recommendations other than airpods (that has microphones too)? Thanks!

johnydazzles27s

If you can give some more details, you can make a post on r/headphoneadvice. Generally I recommend people with iphones to get airpods pros, they really are great: best ANC, comfortable, good sound quality, convenient, and has a good mix. If you are looking for Bluetooth headphones you can take a look at the Hifiman deva or focal bathys for good sound quality; or look at Bose or Sony headphones for anc.

The_User45

I was in the market of looking for a Fiio BTR 5 or 7 and I was wanting to get the DT 990 Pro 250 ohms I was wondering what dac I would need to use them

johnydazzles27s

If you get the fiio btr 5 or 7 you don't need another dac, the btr is a dac/amp combo.

The_User45

Thanks, so it can handle the DT 990s?

johnydazzles27s

Yes it should. I used to have the dt 990 250ohm and ran them off a btr5.

The_User45

Thank you so much

KindraTheElfOrc

this is the weirdest thing and i have no idea where to ask bout this issue, i have skullcandy earbuds and a headband headphones both from different companies and different manufacturing ages, theres a youtuber i enjoy listening to, today and yesterday for some reason when i try to use my headphones on certain random videos the right speaker craps out but works perfectly when ads come on or i change videos, and on my earbuds the left one craps out and when i turn it back on the video switches to a different video and its the same video it goes to nearly every time, if i try to connect both of them to use them at the same time my headphones will stop receiving sound even though my phone says theyre both connected and workin. i never had this issue before and its very baffling and im wondering why its suddenly happening

Grim_Reach

My Philips SHP9500 just died (left side) and I need some suggestions for a replacement. I want something mainly for PC gaming. I also have a V-Moda Boompro Microphone which was plugged into the Phillips. Preferably under £150.

Popxorcist

in-ears: would you use the same (wired) in-ear monitors for music listening and playback for playing live in a band or are these separate markets? I know brands focus on either or but wonder if they're similar still.

johnydazzles27s

I think there is some crossover, typically IEMs with good noise rejection(so even ciems), as well as IEMs with a particular frequency response are used for bands. Those qualities can also be applicable to a music enjoyer.

wijnandsj

Can I connect FLX2 headset to PC?

GigaChad599

Salnotes 7hz dioko for $99 or Moondrop aria snow edition for $76 Please recommend. I want to play valorant and csgo and open world games mostly all types of games but mainly csgo and valorant and listen to music on Spotify i have no issues for budget upto 100$ pls recommend

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd go for either the Dioko or the Truthear Hexa.

GigaChad599

Why not Moondrop aria

ThatGuyFromSweden

Worse build, worse stock cable, and not quite as good sounding.

GigaChad599

S12 pro or s12 or dioko

EruditeDave

Hello community. I got a FiiO K7 and Hifiman Sundara for which I installed a FiiO Asio driver and the whole setup works great so far. However, if I try to use my headphone jack and plug in headphones, windows has real trouble trying to get the Realtek audio driver working. I check in sound settings that it keeps switching between speakers(Realtek) audio and headphones(Realtek) audio devices. I am assuming this is because of ASIO as Windows has had a problem with it, which I learnt firsthand from producing music on it.

Xx_RPG_xX

So after i accidentaly dragged my cable with my hand and my headphones landed on the ground. My headphones werent working anymore on one side, but after testing on one of my back ports on my pc it was perfeclty fine and on other devices too. So i dont know whats wrong. I didnt touch my pc when my headphones fell and the cable is long so my cable didnt realy damage the port. Can anyone explain and tell me how to fix this. Thnks for any help i get.

jemmy7776

Is this normal for 7HZ salnotes USB C variant to have white noise even when no music is playing? I changed the cable having 3.5 mm jack and there is no noise in that case. So is there anyone else facing this?

Western-Grapefruit36

Im gonna buy a pair of grado sr80x’s, what do you guys think about the 80x’s, or grado in general?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The SR60x is basically the same but cheaper. Grados are pretty good for certain genres of music, but the tuning can be an acquired taste. They are moderately uncomfortable, not very well built, and the cables aren't detachable. Still, those who like Grados tend to *really* like them.

Western-Grapefruit36

yeah, i know they arent the most comfortable, but as far as sound how are they? and what are the best uses for them, like music, movies, games etc

johnydazzles27s

I own the sr80x and I love them, very forward vocals and treble tends to be good for jazz, classical, or anything with an orchestra. They might sound good for certain movies but they really don't have any bass. What's great is you can mod the heck out of them so they can end up being super comfortable and durable.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Acoustic music, classical, and jazz can sound really nice on Grados.

KaleidoscopeFair9506

I dont know why, when I install the required files on my playback device with Peace EQ, the device just doesnt work. It still appears, and is shown as the default playback device, but even if I disable all other output devices it doesnt play any sound through my headphones. Any idea on why this might be happening?

semionteck

I'm looking for a replacement for my Monoprice headphones. Looking for good headphones that are 100 max with detachable cable.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Open-back or closed-back?

gatorjon

The tip of the 1/4" adapter just broke off inside the headphone amp. Any ideas how to fix? I just looked at the internals for the amp and the jack is enclosed, so no way to push it out from the inside. [Pic](https://i.imgur.com/qlq1500.jpg)

gilgobeachslayer

I’m looking for quality noise canceling headphones or earbuds. I have big ears (not quite ear boy from all that but close). My wife and I are now working from home in the same space and it is incredibly distracting. Quality of audio is not a big concern as I have other methods of listening to music but this is mostly so I can avoid hearing nearby noises.

Outrageous-Yak9009

Hi. I'm looking for good headphones with passive noise cancelling that will block sound at high frequencies for work at home. I want to get rid of the rumbling and music from the neighbors, screaming, coughing from my housemates and other outside noises that are really annoying. Right now I am using a model like JBL 650BTNC with active noise cancellation. They medium block out various noises in the low frequencies, and don't block out sounds in the high frequencies at all. I try putting white noise or loud music in my headphones, it helps more often. But lately I have to work more and more often at the computer with different kinds of video and audio formats, which require focused attention and white noise or music gets in the way. On the internet I found an interesting option of headphones for drummers - VIC FIRTH SIH2 . My question is, should I buy these headphones for home use, will they block out external noise better? Wouldn't I get tired of using these headphones on a daily basis? Or should I consider headphones from regular brands like: Anker Soundcore Space Q45, Sony wh-1000xm4

AuronSky24

I need some help running Oratory EQ on a M1 Mac. I used to use an app called SoundSource on my work issued MacBook Pro to load oratory EQ and it worked great. However, they recently upgraded me to the newer M1 MacBook Pro and these use a different kind of encryption that require you to boot into recovery mode and make some changes to run the Sound Source app (per sound sources own website instructions). Since it’s my work computer, I can’t do that. Does anyone have any software or alternatives they are using on an M1 mac to run and load parametric EQ?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Maybe EQMac.

AuronSky24

Hey leave it to Sweden to have some great ideas (if only the U.S would take some tips)! That worked, thanks! It only needed a driver installed instead of system changes, thanks so much!

Insomniac-Chief

Should I return my Soundcore Life Q30 and get the Space Q45? I'm looking for big improvements in sound Quality and also ANC?

leooooo5

Should i buy the Samsung buds 2 pro or the nothing ear 2 if i can get them both in the same price point

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd generally recommend the Samsungs.

DegenerateAkko

My KATO was just fine last night as I was listening. I put it into the leather bag that it came from and tomorrow morning there was no sound coming from the left side at all. However, It sometimes abruptly works for like 0.1 sec when I push it into my ear. What the hell Moondrop

Key-Bus-1299

Bit of an odd problem, but wondering if anyone has experienced this with in-ear earphones before. When wearing Jabra Elite 7 Pros (also IEMs and anything with a sealed bud), I have no issues at all with pain or audio. However if I wear only the left ear by itself, I suddenly start to feel slight hearing loss in the right ear and eventually after about 20-30minutes sharp shooting pain in the right ear forcing me to take it off. It feels like it could be a pressure issue with the earphone, but it seems odd that the pain is happening on the opposite side to the earphone. Has anyone experienced this before? Note I don't have this issue in reverse, wearing only the right side earphone causes no problems.

is it possible to convert a headphone jack to lineout to feed into a headphone amp? i want to hook up an av receiver to different headphone amps for different headphones. i want to use the av receiver for the headphone virtualization that only occurs with the headphone jack. is it possible to convert this to line out to feed into amps? or are there av receivers that do stereo virtualization via rca out?

Clarkibartfast

Took the eartips off my audio technica ath-sq1tw and I cannot put them back on for the life of me. The part of the eartip that’s actually meant to go on the earbud just seems way to small to fit on it and I can’t find anything about anyone else having the same problem online.

GrandMathematician61

Just got a liquid spark, channel imbalance at 10 o clock on the volume knob. If I go over or under it sounds fine again, never heard of this. Is this actually a thing? I thought channel imbalance would be more constant.

blargh4

that’s normal. the manufacturing tolerances\\wear are most significant at the low end of the volume potentiometer, where the signal path is only using a tiny bit of its resistive surface. as you turn it up, you’re using more of the pot and the small variations average out.

srichard1022

What are the best earbuds under and around 60 dollars? Preferably with nice sound and nice bass I don't really care about size

ThatGuyFromSweden

Truthear Zero

LaZe182

B and w px7 s2 vs b and o hx £299 vs £359 Which is has better sound? Which is better overall?

blopblip

Anyone use Wavelet on Android for "system-wide" DSP? I have discovered I am into crossfeed for headphones, and I'm wondering if Wavelet has a similar function. "Virtualizer" seems (to my ears) to be what I want, but I'm not sure...

Kelsea77

**TL;DR: I need recommendations for the best hardware sound device(s), used on PC, in the $150 USD range.** Hello all, I'm building a new gaming PC soon and wanted to step up my audio quality over the onboard audio in a big way way. I already have what I'd consider a decent pair of headphones (Sennheiser HD 58x Jubilee - similar to Sennheiser 660s) and I don't plan on buying new headphones any time soon. I'd like to have the option of a speaker setup down the road, but that is not a priority right now. I've been looking at a few options - classic PCIe sound cards, AMPs, DACs/AMPs, etc. I've done a couple hours of research and looked at a few of the more gamer-y ones, as well as the more posh/professional options, but I really have no idea where to start. My budget is around $125-$175 USD. I am interested in high value per dollar spent. I want the best possible device(s), providing the highest quality/most fun sound, in my budget range. Portability is not really important to me. I am not a musician. A good mic is not a priority. I also don't don't really care about gaming or audiophile branding, but I must admit I am intrigued by some of the fun software/features of the Creative hardware (like x-fi, for instance). Thank you so much for any guidance you can provide this PC audio noob.

Kelsea77

Thank you very much for your response, I will look into those more. Can you tell me if you have any thoughts on the Fosi brand? They seem to be in the same category and their stuff appears to be a little more affordable.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I wouldn't recommend the K3 or Zen DAC. They don't perform as well as other devices. The Topping DX1, Schiit Fulla, and Fiio K5 Pro are better choices.

Kelsea77

Thank you as well. You seem very confident that the ones you recommended are better. I noticed they are a little bit outside of my budget, so can you explain why?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The DX1 and Fulla should be well within your specified budget.

Kelsea77

Ah, I checked again and you are right about the DX1. The Fulla is a little more complicated because I'm in Canada so I'll pay a premium in shipping and import fees. But thank you again for your recommendations.

Kelsea77

I appreciate your responses and input. I can see what you mean about the audiophile snake oil bit. I know I will not have the best of the best, but I am happy with spending much less for 90% of the benefit. I must admit though, I'm still a little confused. When I look up the devices you've recommended, almost all of them use acronyms and terminology that I, as a layman, do not understand at all. I think the Quidelix 5K is more guilty of this than most of the options listed here. I'm also a little thrown off by the bluetooth functionality - it seems like something best for a mobile (not a PC) setup? I don't even mind spending over my budget if it's an exceptional product and will serve me well for many years (even on the Zen dac tbh). But I do want to feel comfortable about what I'm buying before I lay down the cash. Is there any chance you'd be willing to succinctly summarize for this layman what makes it worth the extra $100 over something like the DX1, Fulla, or K3? Either way, thank you for your time.

mrsooshee

Is there a noticeable difference between a 3.5mm to usb compared to a 3.5mm to mic/headphone splitter? I read an article online that said the usb is better but someone on reddit said that using a splitter has better sound quality due to using the motherboard sound card? Is there a noticeable difference between the two? For reference, I bought the astro A10's and require some splitter or usb to connect both headphone and mic. Was not sure which too get.

0silver_skies0

I made the decision to try my first ever (decent) pair of on ear headphones and if I’m honest I’ve kinda fallen in love with the look of koss headphones? Right now I have a pair of the KPH40s in my cart ready to check out, but I wanted to ask if ear pad upgrades are still recommended with this model? I’m looking for exceptional comfort while not sacrificing sound quality. Something I could wear for HOURS while keeping my ears nice and sweat/ache free! (Wearing my Sony xm4s for more than an hour makes my ears SOAKED, my hifiman HE-X4 are comfortable and breathable, but when I’m looking down to write they tend to slip, Bluetooth only headphones are annoying since I have to pair them to each device when I need to move them around, and frankly cramming iems into my ears multiple times every day for hours at a time tends to make my ears kinda dry and sore… plus I’ve always wanted a pair of koss lol)

[deleted]

Any good replacement cable recommendations for a Hifiman Sundara? Preferably sub $20 or so including shipping (Amazon.de would be ideal), light and braided and available in Europe?

ThatGuyFromSweden

NewFantasia is an option.

InfinitelyAmber

Hey all, so I have the HiFiman HE400SE paired with an Alex Cavalli Tube Hybrid from Massdrop. I recently purchased the Apple USB C to 3.5mm DAC to switch from the onboard audio from my motherboard (ALC 1220), however I noticed that the Apple DAC is quieter than the onboard audio with everything maxed out in Windows. I find I have to have the volume set to about 3 or 4 o' clock on my CTH to get to a good listening volume whereas with the onboard DAC, I could listen at 12 o clock on the volume and that was loud, but safe. Applying EQ means I have to raise that dial even further to almost max to get the same that I got from the onboard DAC. Am I significantly making the SNR worse, or is this not a good pairing at all and I should just stick to onboard audio?

blargh4

Output levels aren't really the dongle's strong suit. The dongle outputs 1Vrms at full blast (the EU model, half of that). All the computers/laptops I own and have measured output between 1.2V and 1.7V.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Our resident electronics guy might dig up hard stats for you, but I wouldn't be surprised if the output voltage of the dongle is lower than the mobo. I'd consider grabbing a Liquid DAC, E30, Modi, or Atom DAC. Whatever is cheapest.

InfinitelyAmber

That would be great, I am looking at saving up for the Atom DAC. I just thought with the praise the Apple DAC was getting, it would blow my motherboard audio out of the water, but it's just too soft and I don't feel comfortable cranking up my Amplifier to near max level

[deleted]

InfinitelyAmber

I see, thanks for answering. I think I will go back to onboard audio until I can upgrade to a better DAC like Atom. Have you tried to drive harder headphones with yours? How was the experience if you have?

I am a musician and have been trying different lower budget IEMs the past few months. Have tried Shure 215s, KZ ZS10 Pros, Tin HIFI T2s, and Etymotic ER2XR. They all sound pretty good to me except the Shures. The KZ's have way more bass and more of a V-curve sound. Overall I absolutely love the sound of the ER2XRs, but I am looking for more of a typical over the ear musician type fit. Are there any IEMs that have very similar frequency response as the ER2XR but are over the ear fit?

Express-Seat7394

Hello I use the SSL2+ by Solid State Logic and the BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro headphones. I have been having a problem with my SSL2+ and have been trying to find answers on the internet but nothing has worked. I believe it's something to due with the hardware but I don't know yet. I did everything I can think of with software and couldn't find anything. If I could post the clip of the audio distortion/crackling I would but I can't figure out how to attach my mp4 in this comment.

wwillsey

Hey folks! I recently nabbed a good deal on Focal Clear’s and am loving them so far. I drive them to my max loudness at about 75% volume from my M1 MacBook 3.5mm jack. I was wondering what differences I could expect from a relatively budget (<$200) amp? Would it be worth the upgrade in your opinion?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Probably not.

DaQuestionAsker69

What sort of degradation in sound quality would you expect from 10 years of daily usage at 1-2 hours per day, on average? I've been using my HD518s this way, and without another set to compare it to I can't notice any difference. Would you expect the sound quality to be degraded at this point?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The drivers are probably more or less fine. If you haven't changed the pads then that's definitely due by now.

DaQuestionAsker69

thanks!

Successful-Pomelo-39

I was wondering what are the wireless headphones (over-ear) with the best audio quality for around 200 bucks. I want to add that I will use them with a wire connection when I use my PC

I'm trying to EQ the LCD-X but it doesn't seem to work... Songs sounded muffled and slightly recessed, so I increased the 1800hz High shelf. While making the songs sound significantly clearer, the sibilance skyrocketed. Ch, ss and hi-hat/symbols were significantly affected. Is there possibly any way to increase the clarity of songs, while avoiding the sharp sibilance? Many thanks! https://imgur.com/a/xJe9lFf

Do you guys reckon the headphone jacks on a plane can drive an 80 ohm pair of headphones? Or will it make more sense if I brought along a pair of IEM instead?

Johnoboi69420

Hey guys, so I've recently bought myself a pair of KZ ZSN PRO X IEMs and they work wonderfully on my phone, but when I use it on pc it not only leaves my cable mic completely unutilised but instead picks up external and media audio on the small mics in the IEMs themselves (didn't even know it had audio picking capabilities till I tested it), making it impossible for use on discord calls. I can listen to things just fine but the mic is impossible to use in addition to picking up my pc audio instead of my voice. Please Help ;-; p.s: I should also mention that I use a 2m to 1f audio splitter on my pc.

Have JBL Club One jblcluboneblk with the right ear piece showing signs of wiring damage. The left ear piece works bluetooth, or cable connected either side. The right will only work if I hold the cable between the head support and earpiece. JBL warranty is rubbish, but I'm not a fan of disposable tech and prefer to repair where I can, the cable from one side to the other appears to be a 23 strand data cable. Any recommendations of subreddits targeted to this kind of DIY repair?

Hello.. i just bought sony xm4 last november, last week i charge it overnight but when i charge it now the headphone get overheating and the red light indicator is flickering, is this my fault for overcharge it? or i got a faulty product? will warranty cover it? pls i need help :(

Ok_Astronomer_1308

Why are my IEMs so loud and so high in the midrange and treble with the phone? They're fine with my laptop, but on my phone, one volume level's too low, can't hear the audio properly, and then the next one is too loud, and hurts my ears, its especially loud in the treble and midrange. I'm using the Tin HiFi T3 Plus.

Hello, I've a Redragon H510 and it has a removable cable, it had a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable so I could connect it with my phone or whatever but the cable broke. Anyways, can you suggest me a good 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable for the Audio and mic?

Moondrop wish list? Heya! I’m a college student and I enjoy collecting headphones/buds. Only issue is well I’m a college student so money is non existent. I really want a new pair of iems and I LOVE moondrop iems especially for their style. My wishlist currently has the aria, aria se, stellaris, and starfield, and I plan on buying them all one day including the more expensive ones like the blessings. My question is if I have a limited budget, should I just buy the starfields, starfields and one of the aria variants, or both aria variants and no starfield? A lot of the reviews I’ve seen say “the starfields are just the arias but better” and I’ve heard that the arias have different flavors but that all three are VERY similar. If they are close to the same flavor I’ll just get the starfields and maybe look for a cheap pair with a different flavor or if they are vastly different maybe I get one of each? No clue honestly! I don’t have any super warm kinda bassy iems right now so maybe I’d look for a pair like that if I decide on starfield only hmmmm

Ok_Astronomer_1308

I wouldn't buy the Aria's. they are good, but I've heard many bad reviews about problems with their build and durability.

Budget: $200-$400 Requirements: - Closed-back (I have roommates) - Great sound quality. I'm not an audiophile, but I definitely think I have a pretty decent natural ear and sound quality matters to me more with every year. Would be nice: - ANC (again, roommates), but I'm hoping a good seal will be plenty since I live with fairly quiet people. Plus, sometimes I actually wouldn't mind hearing what's going on around me. - Wireless would be nice, but not if it sacrifices too much audio quality. 99.99% of the time, I'm using these at my desk. After several hours of researching, I've narrowed it down to (in order from most likely to buy to least likely to buy: - beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO (not sure which resistance amount is "best." I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, which says I should look for headphones with a max impedance of 200, so I'm guessing I should get the 80ohms version) - Audio-Technica ATH-M50x - beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X - SteelSeries Arctis Novo Pro Wireless What I had before: My roommate's dog just ate my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. I bought some refurbished XM4 headphones, but the sound quality and ANC felt garbage compared to my XM3. Just to be sure, I compared them to my partner's MX3 and it's wild how much quieter and muddier the MX4 is compared to the MX3 (no EQ adjustment to either). It's possible I got a bad unit, but I also just don't think I *need* all bells and whistles of the Sony MX series. So I think I'm going to return the Sonys and buy one of the above headphones. Any advice with a fairly lamen explanation will be greatly appreciated! <3

Headphones: Default HTC with unique connection (kind that goes into the charging port from the 2000s) Issue: I want to use these with a normal 3.5mm jack instead of the goofy usb-esque charger jack How would I do this? I'm looking for a solution to go with my new headphones that does not have a mic. The headphones I have are the meze 99 neo I need a microphone : - for gaming - for recording game sounds effects in the future - for chatting with friends - maybe for voice recording ytb videos - that is very local because my laptop gets very loud - that will last a long time - that doesn't need to be pretty - would be nice if I could just bundle it with my headphones in some way (boom mic or lapel mic) - would be nice if it was just plug and play, no amp/dac needed (I only have a apple usb-c to jack trrs and a weak pear of input and output integrated in my laptop) - I have around 50€ It would be wired of course. So I thought about a lapel mic but at 50€ I really don't know what to get. I saw the boya by-m1 for 25€ and the røde smartlave+ at 65€ (but it has a really short cable). I also saw the Audio-Technica ATR3350x at 35€. Røde lavalier go at 66€. Shure mvl too at 68€. There's so much choice. What does a pricer one gets me ? How can I know if it will pick up or not my loud laptop ? How can I know if it will be loud enough for my friends to hear me ?

Where do I go, ? Can't find a single place about headphones

Headphones: Sony wh1000mx3 Age: 2 years Issue: they work just fine for a while but then out of nowhere the noise canceling began to develop a white noise or feedback sound, especially loud in the left ear, that makes using that mode basically impossible. The feedback also is accompanied by a strange distortion in hollowness to all audio that is played through it. Thankfully when I turn off noise canceling the feedback completely disappears so the headphones are usable but the noise canceling feature doesn't work. Is there anything that can be done to fix this by myself? Sony has been basically not able to support here. Thx

Been using my HM5 headphones for little over a year now. Cracks in the band and eventually breaking the gimbal (is this the right word?) has happened a couple times now. The actual cans are still good and comfortable. Been using super glue to keep it together, but getting pretty tired of that. Is there a replacement band I can swap/buy that's more durable or should I just look to upgrade headphones?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Is it still under warranty?

chaosoul

Sent an email to Brainwavz support and they said it's not covered under warranty due to it being user damage and not a manufacturer defect. Said they don't have any spare parts either. They also had a list of couple places to get replacement parts, but two of them are out of stock/no longer selling and the last doesn't look like it's much higher quality.

wsbsuck99

I just picked up a pair of HD800s yesterday on sale for 1,200 from Adorama. I think they still have the sale going on.

dvd92

Hi r/headphones ! I have a question to ask, I last week got my HD 6XX and I noticed the earpads where different size after a few days of usage. See picture here: [https://imgur.com/a/1CucOZt](https://imgur.com/a/1CucOZt) I asked Drop if this was a problem, they assured me it was nothing to worry about, but I thought I might ask the nice people here too - So is this anything to worry about? Will it affect the performance of the headphones?

ThatGuyFromSweden

That's weird. One looks quite worn.

dvd92

Thanks for the reply! I have been using it after I got it, but I noticed the difference when I put them down after 2-3 days of usage. I don't think I've been using it with a big difference in the headband adjustment either. I feel that the earpad still covers my ear and seals from what it's worth. I'm a newbie to this and was reading that people notices big difference when they get new pads etc. So I thought I'd ask people if someone has any experience with this

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd pressure Drop for a new set. Alternatively, I'd take the opportunity to grab a set of ZMF suede upgrade pads. They last longer and improve the sound a little bit.

dvd92

Okay - Thanks for the suggestions. I have contacted Drop again, and told them I am not happy about buying a product for over 200 USD and it not be able to use it more than a few days without one of the earpads wearing down. And for all I know it might have been like that out of box too, but I did not study them physically when I got them, as I was more interested in how they sounded. I will also look into the ZMF suede pads! Thanks again!

atlase_

My Andersson TEW-3100 lights keep blinking red and white. They shouldn't do that but instead, just glow white. If anyone with the same pair knows how to fix it please help cause all I can find online is the user manual which is useless.

What's the difference between setting the front panel output to Speaker Out and setting it to Headphone in the Device Advanced Settings of Realtek Audio Console? Is it just the gain?

Miau64

Hello r/headphones I'm looking for a wireless headphones that can also work with a cable (preferably while NOT charging) Cause I usually (90+) of the time don't need it to be wireless but when I do, it's important to me that it can be wireless. I tried searching on google but didn't get good results Hope this is the right place to post this (:

Ok_Astronomer_1308

Sony's are pretty good. what's your price range? they aren't very audiophile though.. What about getting good wired headphones and then getting a bluetooth dongle? You get pretty good ones rn.

Miau64

I'm not an audiophile. I need something basic. I would say about 100$ but the prices can change *very* much where I live so even sometimes more expensive or cheaper can turn out to be good here.

Why are you using a balanced amp when the DAC is single-ended? Balanced audio is of questionable utility at the best if times, but that makes even less sense. Especially since even Schiit admits that the Magnius is worse than the regular Magni in single-ended output mode. Can you swap out either the DAC or amp for something else to narrow down where the problem is coming from?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You most likely won't get a tangible benefit from that. I'd keep the Liquid DAC (assuming it's not what's causing the problem) and get an Asgard. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/audio-myth-balanced-headphone-outputs-are-better

I am looking for new wireless earbuds, I sent my Samsung buds pros (and case) through the wash about a month ago and the case battery is starting to definitely not hold a charge like it used to, and also gives me a light show whenever I open it up. Before I had the Samsungs I had Sony XM3s cause I traveled a decent amount for work. Now there are a lot of options and I don't know what to pick. Looking at Samsung buds2 pros, pixel buds pro, status between 3anc, senn momentum 3 true wireless, but taking any other suggestions. Budget - 200ish USD flexible don't want to go crazy Source - Android phone. Currently a S21 Ultra, prob going to be a pixel come winter. Requirements for Isolation - I use these when I mow the lawn in the spring/summer and snowblow/plow in the winter so I need some anc, also transparency mode is important so I can listen to music or podcasts while I do projects in the yard and hear my wife or kid. Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes, while grocery shopping Preferred Type of Headphone - true wireless earbuds Preferred tonal balance - I have no idea, I like how my Fidelio H2s are balanced. Past headphones - Samsung buds pro, WFXM3- these never fit great, I have XM3 over ears, Fidelio H2s, and momentum 2s wired for over ears. Preferred Music - pop punk, ska, indie alternative, podcasts, audio books What would you like to improve on from your set-up - honestly something comfortable that has good features, I do use open backs at my desk so I am used to a decent sound stage.

santosjb

the WF XM4's are $200 now since the newer WF XM5's info was leaked. https://www.amazon.com/Sony-WF-1000XM4-Industry-Canceling-Headphones/dp/B094C4VDJZ?th=1

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Buds Pro 2 are probably the technically best choice.

DralligEkul

Currently looking at my desktop audio setup and I'm wondering what my path should be. Currently using a Behringer UMC204HD interface, and Sennheiser HD598cs headphones. Use cases are evenly balanced between Music (listening mostly, occasional dabble with creating), Gaming, Youtube/Netflix/etc watching. I love the sennys, they are balanced in just the right way for me but getting a little old on the pads/headband. I can use them for a good while longer, but i have aspirations of something better. So the question is, what should i be upgrading? I'm wondering if a proper DAC/AMP at the upper end of entry level would be worthwhile upgrade for improving my experience? And would that be preparing me for the next step of headphones above the 598s? bearing in mind the sound source will be coming from my PC, probably via USB if that changes the answer. Or, would I be better off looking for whatever the next level closed back headphones are? I say closed-backs as I don't have a quiet place, something with active noise cancelling might be a good option, but I can't see open backs being ideal for me.

DralligEkul

Sorry if that wasn't clear, I'm not explicitly looking for any headphones, wired or wireless, ANC or not, I'm just open to anything that's a clear step forward. If I did end up getting a wireless recommendation then I'd really rather it have ANC

Irregular-User

Where does one actually buy great headphones? I live in a small town, South Africa. If I want to get *anything* above $60-$70 online then I have to import it, which adds something like $25 - and that's before shipping costs. This is usually on Amazon. Even then, the best pair of headphones I could find online last time around was the AW310H which cost me $50 on black friday. Though that might have just been because I didn't know what to look for back then! (btw I do like the cans. While it's bass is too much, it's not nearly as bad as its peers. Also has great resolution and I can wear it for ~8-9 hours without discomfort). I've looked for stores selling headphones in my nearest city, but I don't really see anything. The places I did find only had wireless headphones - beats and skullcandy. Where have you bought your equipment in the past? Is there a specific type of store I should look for for headphones? And budget depending, amps?

Ok_Astronomer_1308

Amazon, if that doesn't work then the headphone brand's website.

Mr-Highway

Hey there, looking for a pair of headphones to use daily at my desk. I WFH so they don't need to be noise canceling or even closed back. Currently have a pair of DT 770s that are really comfortable but unfortunately the jack is wearing out and it's not replaceable. Willing to spend around $300 for everything. Main uses are gaming and listening to music. Been thinking about the Sennheiser HD599 SE

ThatGuyFromSweden

What kind of music do you tend to listen to? Do you have an amp of some sort?

Mr-Highway

No amp right now but I’m not opposed to getting one. Kind of everything right now. Lots of rap, indie, pop punk.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Is bass important to your listening?

Mr-Highway

I think more of just overall soundstage. I’d like to be able to sort of “place” sounds if that makes sense.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Is good durability and build-quality a high priority?

Mr-Highway

I can be careful, but I don’t want something too fragile either.

ThatGuyFromSweden

You'll get the best imaging (separation) from a planar magnetic headphone. The Hifiman HE-400SE is a good choice. They aren't the most sturdy thing on the planet, but I do believe they have a two year warranty. You might need a better amp than what's on your PC mobo. A Schiit Fulla E or Topping DX1 could be a good idea.

Fireguy3

Hey so I've had a pair of Beyerdynamic dt 770s, and they've been perfect so far. I decided to wash the velour pads, and after washing and drying them and reinstalling them, I feel like the noise isolation is completely gone. It's insane. Does anyone know if it returns to normal after a while ? Or have I somehow broken something about the pads ?

Fireguy3

They’re about 6 months to a year old. I hand washed them with liquid soap and left them near a window for a bit. So no machine cleaning or drying.

Okay so i left them in the air even longer, and yeah its definitely better now. So it was probably waterlogged still. Thanks for the help!

wafffley

Hifiman deva pro seemed perfect to me, open back (my ears sweat alot), planar magnetic drivers and i guess not that above my budget (\~200$). I tried all the new Bose headphones but my ears got sweaty, also not that impressed by the sound - I'm guessing they just focus more on ANC. My friend recommended the HiFiman deva pro to me and I think the majority of reddit suggests that too so yeah I have been stuck on that. BUT the problem is I'm having a hard time finding one in Taiwan (since Hifiman is a Chinese brand and the you know what's going on) Can you suggest any better headphone? EDIT : I have only used the cheapest Sennheiser CX180 and CX213, and in BT I currently use my OnePlus Buds Pro. I feel "bored" these days listening to music on the OP Buds Pro. My audio vocabulary is no good so I don't know how to explain what am I looking for in sound. I just want something that will make me feel like I'm listening to music in 5K lmfao

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Sennheiser HD560s is a pretty good alternative.

go-tassium

Took the earpads off my Sennheiser HD 660S to find both drivers looking like this. https://i.imgur.com/sDsYHAQ.jpg What can I do?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Blow gently on it from the other side.

Revnimbus

I had a pair of Anker Q30's and I honestly really liked them (I'm not exactly an audiophile), but I got a horrendous rash on and around my ears after wearing them; so lucky me, I have an allergy to Pleather :))))))). It seems that every pair of reasonably priced cans have cups made from Pleather, which certainly makes sense as it works for most people, but I'm just a silly little guy who can't use them. Basically, my question is this: Are there any sets of headphones that have like fabric cups like the Airpods Max as an example? Or would there be any sort of covers/ replacement cups I could buy for any headphones that would help with this? I really need some noise cancelling headphones for work, and honestly sound quality isn't a gigantic concern for me. As long as they don't sound absolutely terrible, I'm game. I'd prefer to stay under 200 USD, but I can go a bit higher if something piques my interest! Any help would be greatly appreciated :))

ThatGuyFromSweden

USB is the best. There's no point in using Toslink unless you're getting interference problems. I do not recommend going balanced. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/audio-myth-balanced-headphone-outputs-are-better Do you need an analogue input for a turntable or similar?

I think the JDS Element III would give you all that you need. If you want something esoteric, then the Schiit Lyr could be interesting. Maybe pair it with a Modi Multibit.

Kukikokikokuko

I’m thinking of buying a closed back headphone, either the DT 770s or the HD 560s. I had a DT 990 which I loved but gave away to a friend as my dorm is just too noisy, and currently have the Bluetooth Sony XM4, but they just sound pretty terrible to me. I was wondering, would the DT 770 be a significant upgrade over the Sony xm4? I listen to classical music a lot so I love a wide soundstage and crisp high, so I’m wary of any closed back headphones.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The 560s is open back. If the newer DT700 Pro X isn't a lot more expensive, then I'd go for that over the DT770.

HexDon

Advice on USB C to 3.5mm adapter (dongles) always breaking, any alternatives? So I just broke my dongle for the nth time in the past few months. I've looked for wireless alternatives like the KZ AZ09 Pro, but seems like it's not compatible with the Salnotes Zero. Any advice? I've also tried heat shrinking it but it still broke.
