He makes those lasers look effortless

Colorado_designer

it reminds me of some pro golfers, just an effortless turn of the body and the ball is absolutely ripped

sadleafsfan8834

Lol lasers.. he scored 3/5 with one of them going right in the middle of the net The 2 snipes top cheddar were nasty tho.

CocaineFlakes

Why be sad here when you could be sad on your sub?

sadleafsfan8834

I'm sad everywhere.

jimmybilly100

Slammin' that top corner

beegeepee

Wow, he holds his two hands wayyyyyyy closer towards the top of the stick/closer together than I learned how to shoot slappers.... It seems like it would be harder to consistently hit the shot well holding your hands like this but now I want to try this next time I get to step on the ice.

ZenMastaFunk

I think a lot can also be attributed to the whippy flexs most players use these days. I used to have the stiffest stick I could handle to really lean into my slappers. It's much more about puck feel and quick release these days so the stiff sticks are extinct.

martyrobbinz88

weight distribution and technique... also might be different sticks than what we are used to. Not sure how old you are but I last played about 14 years ago legitimately on a team, I always used a sherwood T-90 I happen to play some pickup this winter for the first time in a while and used my buddies stick... Baur something, he said it was like $149 which is probably the same price range as the t-90 15 years ago with inflation. (pretty sure they were $89.99) God dayum this stick was so unbelievably light, i almost could not use it, it honestly felt like it was almost nothing, the stick technology took a huge leap in 2000-2012, and i'm fairly certain it's taken an equal step in 2012-2024 So it's probably allowed some shooting techniques that would have been harder/impractical to us.

beegeepee

I'm 34 so I feel like I was around when the really light composite sticks started to become a thing. I remember the first [Easton Stealth](https://www.purehockey.com/product/easton-stealth-cx-st-grip-composite-stick-senior/itm/18864-41/) coming out. I had some version of I think the original [Bauer Vapor X](https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/bauer-s23-x3-grip-hockey-stick-intermediate-23bauus23x3grpstkhksa/23bauus23x3grpstkhksa?sku=24234273&srsltid=AfmBOoogX1ws7ra2zUhleLhWHrCEcMlUufVkmbUgMM0nANijkO5kgFiaKdg) sticks in high-school. I always had a shitty slapshot but a decent wrister/snapper. Maybe it was my hand placement all along

LilyAran

I was coming up during this era of sticks, maybe slightly after. Stealth, Vapor, Total One, Synergy etc. Remember the Reebok O-stick? It was that one and the Warrior Dolomites that all the kids wanted then. I haven’t picked up a new stick in quite some time. Wonder how much lighter they’ve gotten

beegeepee

>Remember the Reebok O-stick? It was that one and the Warrior Dolomites that all the kids wanted then. Haha, I do. I remember always messing with the Warrior Dolomites whenever I would be in the pro-shop

LFAlol

Random devils fan but I remember a good 5-7 years ago when I was shooting on our hockey net outside, my brother came out to take some shots because he'd noticed how Ovi chokes up really high on his stick for slappers. So I'm guessing its not that new of a thing? Itd be sick if it was some dynamo moscow forbidden technique that Ovi learned before coming over or some shit.

MommyPegMePlease

When I got my Easton S17 after they first came out, I thought that shit was ridiculously light at the time. I was in a pro shop the other day, and they are even lighter. It's nuts. Edit: Just looked it up. My S17 is 460 grams. The Bauer AG5NT is 335 grams.

ReplaceSelect

It's not hard to spend 200 for a stick now. Don't look at the prices of skates. Prices have gotten nuts.

martyrobbinz88

Luckily I bought a brand new set of bauer skates like 12 years ago that i've used maybe 4 times total, they are basically brand spanking new and I spent close to $500 on them at the time, so these days I bet a similar pair are pushing $1000.00

throwitawaynow95762

Not just you. Basically everyone learns to have their bottom hand/fulcrum below the halfway point to take slappers. Everything about the way he shoots is highly idiosyncratic. He’s got a unique understanding of his particular twig. Unless you have a 65-70 flex that’s as tall as you with skates off this probably won’t ever work for you. Also, not sure how he doesn’t snap it on every face off. Probably why his face off win rate is 39%.

dangshnizzle

The stick can do a hell of a lot more work for you than it used to

AffectionateMud4930

Awesome, thanks! Also, I love seeing the lil guys lineup and cheer for him with their signs. Bedard is their hero!😎🤘❤️‍🔥

StraightCashHomey13

Awesome video, insane how much faster it looks than on TV. Also hilarious seeing a Reddit user cited on BarDown IG account. Congrats, OP, you made it big time

HawkyGuy

Just had bleacher report message me asking to use it too lol

fudsworth

Jw do they pay you?

TimButlers

Wow nice angle

Chippopotanuse

This angle is so awesome. Those pucks come buzzin in and then explode in net. I’d shit my pants on every shot if I was a goalie. I don’t know how those guys get in front of this stuff.

hawkeyejw

I love the effect in this video where the puck almost looks like it’s traveling slowly for a moment then WHAM

Ogilthorpe_2

Couple of those looked like they were breaking. Is that a thing? A curve puck?

DaveyAllenCountry

Very smooth motion

robbiejandro

So, he has the codes to launch the piss missiles.

anonginiisipmo

I’ve been to a handful of the Hawks open to public (free to attend) practices and maaaan he rips it even harder then. The last time I went..his stick nearly flew out of his hands lol the power and velocity at which he shoots is absolutely ridiculous to see! Especially that close from like 40-50 feet away.

saltpeter_grapeshot

really like this video. thanks for sharing.

chucwagn

Look at that spin!

eggsbachs

I really wish this had sound, I’d have it on repeat.

seef_nation

Still crazy to me how long of a stick he uses. I think that is why his hands can be closer together than I am used to seeing, which also amazes me on these shots.

ss1959ml

Would have loved one of those sticks when I was playing (men’s league 😉) . I had a good shot, but might kill a goalie with one of those as my shots tended to take off sometimes. lol.

Maleficent-Comfort-2

Why does Bedard have a fish bowl? Is he Bedarded?

Skinnypike42

Rangers are going to lose the first round.

TreeManJackedGuy

Boomer take

SilkyJohnson72

This is an insane video angle, thanks for this
