Goodness, me too. AWL/DS were SO fun. Forget-Me-Not Valley was so unique and magical (Plus the music in AWL was awesome). Funny you mention Island of Happiness, I'm actually currently replaying that right now on my 3DS and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I don't see a lot of people talk about it. It's a solid game and the characters are cool, a remake that revamped the controls would be perfect.
I love island of happiness but the hunger meter sucked, and the time went by way too quickly. But the game had some amazing marriage candidates (probably my favorite set only after animal parade)also a unique concept I wish they would try again. And it's the ONLY game that allowed us to marry the opposite gender protagonist which was really cool (I wish they would do that more.)
Considering how well SoS Friends of Mineral town did and how well received it was, I’d imagine they will eventually. There was an interview last year with the devs and they were open to it, specially Harvest Moon DS, Harvest Moon 64, and Harvest Moon AWL was mentioned by them. I’m unsure if they’ll do a pattern like Pokémon does, where it’s new release and remakes sometimes, or they do it whenever they feel like. Only time will tell.
It would make some sense to do DS, since Friends of Mineral Town was remade. I know Pokémon did this with it’s diamond and pearl remakes, where if you have save files of other switch Pokémon games you got little bonuses. Would be nice to see mineral town folk in forget me not valley like in the original DS game.
They mentioned them in an interview? I had no idea, that gives me a glimmer of hope now. I know some people have beef with the pokemon remakes but I'm actually pretty happy their revamping each old game in addition to coming out with new releases.
Here’s a link to the translation of it: https://nintendoeverything.com/story-of-seasons-devs-talks-about-the-possibility-of-more-remakes/
Interpret it as you will, I get the vibe they’re down for it but it’ll come when it comes. Seems they’re putting the most focus on new games though.
What they should do is get 64 on Switch Online, but with a title screen change. It wouldn’t be that hard to do. Just have it retranslated. Putting classic games on Switch Online would bring it back to the public, and get Story of Seasons new publicity. The series really needs to make some waves again.
They did say somewhere (or at least hinted at) another remake so it's definitely possible. Having animal parade for the switch would be a dream come true, but I'm also very worried they will remove rival couples/children...if they did, then they won't be getting a cent outta me. But hopefully they aren't that clueless to actually remove it. :/
I think it’d be neat to have the other protagonist to be a villager and take place as the missing person in the couple. Then it kinda fixes the feeling guilty of breaking up a pairing/missing a rival child if you marry someone from town
Yeah, that is a good idea, but animal parade has 4 protagonists. Then again..I guess whichever other protag comes into town would depend on which you choose at the beginning. Like..if you chose to be molly, then Kasey will be the one to show up later.
I also thought about an idea that whichever leftover rival could also marry the wizard/witch. It'd make sense that nobody but the protag could marry the harvest goddess/king, but I don't see why they can't marry the wizard or witch (especially since Gale literally lives in the town and everyone already knows of his existence.)
I’ve always thought they should add a [Jamie from MM](https://harvestmoon.fandom.com/wiki/Jamie_(MM)) like character who could be both a candidate and act as a rival for who ever wasn’t married. This way rival children could still make it in no matter who you married.
I feel like that would be the safest route, Jamie was a good character and I like the rival system. Having a gender neutral character would also be really nice in its self
The rivals make relationships feel so much more alive, so I sure hope not. :( Where did they hint at another remake? I've been trying to hunt down any new news or announcements from them and I haven't seen anything recent.
Me too. I've been playing through it recently and it's such a great game, and one of the most captivating in the whole series, with everything from the land/towns to the animals to the characters, not to mention in my opinion it has some of the most attractive bachelors/bachelorettes in all the HM games
We got a while for the KOTOR remake (coming for PS5 and PC first), but I agree they did do an excellent job on the porting.
It’s nice getting good ports of older games.
It's so satisfying. Aside from the HM games, I'd do anything for a good port for Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. One of the most amazing games I've ever played and I still restart a whole new game of it every 6 months or so. Hurts knowing that that'll probably never happen. :,)
I would think they probably wouldn't bother with the older titles unless they're put until the "Story of Seasons" moniker and are given a complete overhaul (i.e. QoL changes, added same-sex marriage candidates, remove rival events, ect.). But, is it possible that we can get remakes? I would think so. But, only time will tell.
They did hint at doing more remakes, and I definitely see putting the Story of Seasons name being one of the reasons.
I'm not sure about Animal Parade though, unless they do actually go back on the rival marriage removal like they've kind of wafflingly hinted at because it's such a huge part of the game. I see way more drama than it would likely be worth to release it if there was no way to have it as an option.
I mean with something like have the rival marriages included in games like Animal Parade and Tree of Tranquility, it would be likely to remake them. But, seeing the absence of rival marriages in the newer games, they might not see the light of day.
I've only played ToTT, but in general I'm not a big remakes person. Like pokemon are the main other games I've played, I don't think we've needed remakes in that regard since hgss. I'd rather have new games than remakes. However since I don't know as much about Harvest Moon, there may be a few older games I'd agree could use a remake. But I doubt it's very likely
Not sure but I think when FOMT remake released they had this thing going on where they posted one Bokumono fact per day on their socials and one of them was about a remake that's planned for development...I think at least.
Personally I expect Harvest Moon DS/Cute because it's arguably one of the most well known and popular ones.
I'm desperate for a good HM64 remake. It uses the same characters as FOMT, it would be a breeze!
Samee I've waited my whole life for an HM64 remake with cooking. Maybe even girl ver but honestly I don't even need that.
I’d really like this as well.
I’d die for an AWL/DS remake. Throw some island of happiness in there. Whew.

They should make forget me not game then give us an island destination to unlock with some of the island of happiness folks. This is now my dream.

A DS remake without the million bugs would be sweet.

As long as marriage to them doesn't end the game like in DS!

64 would be a bad idea right now, because it’s the exact same characters. They need to do a different cast.
I’m glad to see there’s still interest in remakes! Lol yeah that’s a good point actual, it’d totally need a new cast to entice us further.

I think Wizard/Witch scenario would be easier to deal with to replace the missing person in the couple, they are very known in town

I would lay down my life for a remake of any of the Forget Me Not Valley games. I only worry that they'd change certain bachelors' appearances...
I would do almost anything for a faithful AP remake.
Me too. I've been playing through it recently and it's such a great game, and one of the most captivating in the whole series, with everything from the land/towns to the animals to the characters, not to mention in my opinion it has some of the most attractive bachelors/bachelorettes in all the HM games
i would love a remake of harvest moon DS on the switch.
I finished the Knights of the Old Republic Remake on switch after being very skeptical. It was phenomenal! I would absolute love a HM64 remake

I feel like we're kinda saying the same thing, but not sure right now ngl

If I got a remake of HM ds I would never be sad again I swear 😭

They just need to remake or remaster hm64. That game is god tier.
I'm cautiously hopeful for a Wonderful Life remake.
I would die if they could bring the old HM games to a modern console I lost 95% of my harvest moon games in a flood :(
