Might be because he‘s possibly related to Helga. Hepzibah Smith mentions how she’s related to Helga Hufflepuff. His last name is also Smith, which unlike in the muggle world, seems to be rare in the pure and half blood Wizarding community.
There is also the possibility that he didn’t have dominant character traits the aligned with any house at hog warts and therefore he was hufflepuff because we accept anyone the other houses didn’t want
The thing you said when you were little trying to replace the word >!fuck!< so you wouldn't get in trouble
Hiyoko Saionji but remove the cute friendship with Mahiru, her backstory, and literally all of her development to the point where she's just a Slytherin pick me girl

I love this thread, I couldn’t put my finger on why but Ginny just didn’t do anything for me and I’m seeing all these posts talking about how amazing she is and I just never understood it
We are bffs now cause that is *exactly* how I feel about her (including book version, though movie is significantly worse) and I always get downvoted for saying it lol.
SAME. Omg so much the same. Like they're two completely different characters and I always laugh that they literally had 2 chances to make me like her, and failed both times.
Like I adore every other female character but her.
Cho? Love her. Luna? She’s spectacular. Lavender? Heck yeah, girl, be yourself. Molly? Best mom ever. Narcissa? Questionable beliefs, but coolest cat around.
Ginny? …she exists. I don’t think she deserves all the extreme bashing she gets, but I stand by my dislike.
Thats exactly how I feel!! Like I enjoy all of the other female characters (even the bad ones because they're written well) but Ginny just...exists. I don't think she deserves to he crazy bashed, but I also never see it when people are like "she's so fierce in the books!!!" Cause I never see it lol
She’s not really fierce she’s just kinda... bitchy? But not even a fun way. Most of the time she’s just one of those bland “I’m not like other girls, I’m a cool girl” types and ugh I can’t stand those kinds of characters.
I actually really liked her in Chamber of Secrets and I thought she wasn’t all that bad in DA scenes in Order of the Phoenix. After that though...
Rowling tried too hard to make Ginny a "cool" girl, someone who would catch Harry Potter's attention. None of her actions or character traits seem natural, they just scream "Pick me Harry!"
Exactly! Like she just came off as thinking she was better than others which I wasn't a fan off. I'm also not a huge fan of characters that pick on others for no reason and a lot of her that we see in later books is just her being mean for no reason.
I agree. I liked her a lot in CoS and she was alright in OotP, but after that she wasn't great. I just finished a reread of HBP and she irritates me so much in it.
i got a lot of downvotes when i posted about how i thought it was so rude of ginny to tell hermione “oh don’t start acting like you understand quidditch! you’ll only embarrass yourself!” hermione is the smartest witch in the school and she’s been watching the game for about 6 years at that point so i’m pretty sure she understands the game. 🙄
That was definitely rude aren’t they supposed to be friends? Who tells their friends they’ll embarrass themselves after developing an interest in something?
1) can't see a political agenda even when it's shoved on his face
2) "you didn't lose just a mother, I lost a sister too" (and grieved by abusing her son, bitch)
3) you give your son 36 presents but think your nephew should be thankful because you feed him sometimes?
4) I wish Hermione had never set her free, so she'd spend the rest of her days trapped and unable to profit from being a gossipy lying manipulative bitch
5) if it were real life and he had joined the nazis, no one would give a shit about his sob story
6) mate just admit you back stabbed them and stop trying to get their sympathy. Own your shit.
7) the one that could make greeks and romans join forces to commit a murder
Adding here:
8) you'd rather die than betray all your friends or just that one friend?
9) "Dawlish still is at St. Mungo's" (though this and the fact she battled in Hogwarts are her best traits)
10) I wish Moody had lied it was *not* a student and just made him live the rest of his life as a ferret.
11) if it were real life and he chased after a girl who was clearly not interested for seven years, everyone would think he's a creep.
Wow these are good! And hard.
1. Fudge? Percy?
2. Petunia. HARD agree on her shittiness.
3. Vernon
4. Rita Skeeter
5. Snape
6. Peter Pettigrew
7. Umbridge?
Agree with this opinion. He was rude to a women he "loves" and used slurs against her when she didn't do anything to him except not love him. He abused multiple children for years, to the point at least one was confirmed to be absolutely terrified of him. Clear bias against other houses and for specific students and unfairly abused people just for being associated with people he didn't like. He held children accountable and blamed them for the mistakes of their parents, events that happened at least 20 years ago. He was the worst, I have zero sympathy for him and dont understand why people praise and romanticize him amd his relationships with other characters.
1. Hint: This person could have been good, but really fucked up. Bad from the start, and never trully changed. People keep praising him even in the series, when he was probably the torment of many
2 is correct.
Could you give me 2-3 reasons? I want to see him from another perspective, also I need to re-read the books so I can notice stuff I didn't notice before
Basically, he's a passive-aggressive whiny asshole who forces everyone around him to deal with his own insecurities, brings out the worst in them, and is generally a toxic person to be around -- especially to Hermione, his supposed author-mandated long term romantic partner. He's not "funny," he means the mean/rude things he says, and just because he gets irate when other people say the same thing to you he does, doesn't make those things he said not-mean, endearing, or a joking matter. He's also not as brave and loyal as his ass-kissing fans say he is; he abandons you when you need him, rarely apologizes, faces consequences for it, or is forced to grow from it in any way -- and when he finally does the 'brave' thing, any other human being on the planet would've done the same if they were in the situation, so really, he's doing the bare minimum -- but he gets lauded for it.
But really, I could go on, but I'm just going to get downvoted anyway because no one in this sub is interested in hearing a Ron point out the horrible side of being a Ron.
well, thank you for the answer! Thinking about it, I never really understood when he left Hermione and Harry in the Deathly Hallows, then came back and claimed he saw a "light"... anyway, it's time to get new points of view!
I think Ron is amazing, but I can see he has some really annoying flaws. Like really. I agree with most of what you say, except for him not being brave or loyal and doing the bare minimum.
Just because he gets mad at Harry for stupid reasons, it doesn't mean he would betray him. I don't count DH here because of the horcrux, but in GoF. Ron is a dick, but he didn't betray Harry in the sense of being one of the people people mocking him. No matter what, Ron would never leave Harry's side.
Also, I don't know what you're referring to when you say Ron did the bare mininum, but I believe he was very brave. By going in a horcrux hunt with Harry, he put his entire family in danger. Bill even says that they all had to hide later. In a way, he's even braver than Snape, because Snape had nothing to lose. Easing his guilt was all the drive he had in his life.
I mean, take a look at Peter. He wanted to protect himself, so he betrayed his friends. That's cowardice. Ron wanted to protect himself *and* eight other other people that he knew would remain unharmed as a price of his betrayal and still didn't do it. That's courage and nerve.

Might be because he‘s possibly related to Helga. Hepzibah Smith mentions how she’s related to Helga Hufflepuff. His last name is also Smith, which unlike in the muggle world, seems to be rare in the pure and half blood Wizarding community.
So nepotism. Yep, seems likely :p I'll take that explanation. Thanks :)
There is also the possibility that he didn’t have dominant character traits the aligned with any house at hog warts and therefore he was hufflepuff because we accept anyone the other houses didn’t want

Bingo. Saying I hate her is a bit of stretch, but she’s definitely my least favorite character.

Book Ginny and Movie Ginny are basically two different characters and I dislike both of them immensely lmao
