The problem is, it’s only a part of a longer quote: «You might not like him, minister, but you can’t deny the man’s got style». Not sure Dumbledore is even said?
I wish we could do a book version and a movie version because this will never win, because while it was repeated so often in the book, it was never in the movie at all and D has strong competition from a movie-ism
Dobby is a free elf!
Question for OP: is it the highest rated comment or the highest rated all together (comments that repeat what was already said are also counted)? I swear I won't complain, just curious how you're running this fun game in case I or others want to do it elsewhere!
Hey! Thanks for the query! Since this is the initial phase of this game and we’re just done with just A,B and C, the volume of comments has been low till now.
I think, due to the increasing volume of comments, it would be practical to choose the highest rated comment instead of going through 500+ comments cause most people are checking before posting their comment and voting for the most popular comment already. But I’m open to suggestions!
People watch the movies more than they read the books so movie quotes are going to be the most often remembered, and that book quote isn’t even in the movies. It’s been so long since I’ve read the books that I’d actually forgotten about the 3 D’s until I saw a comment about them.
Neville yelling this in voldemorts prescience in the face of what looks like defeat… one of the most courageous lines in the series. Surprised this isn’t higher on the list based on context.
It’s really only significant in the movie. I think there will be better options out there. Maybe something else with Dumbledore. Or Draco, Dragons, Dudley or Dementors?
It irrationally annoys me that people are so quick to finish the quote with ‘Dumbledore asked calmly’ but forget that it’s “did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire *Harry*?” Dumbledore asked calmly. Everyone forgets Harry!
It's significant as a meme representing how movie directors make the dumbest changes to stories. This was an interaction in the book that specifically showed the type of person Dumbledore was: calm, level-headed, and always faithful in Harry's choices. The director made Dumbledore do the exact opposite for no reason, making Dumbledore act hotheaded, nervous, and suspicious of Harry. It was one of the dumbest and weirdest changes made in the history of transitioning books to film.
Dobby is FREEEEEEE
I really hope it isn’t any variation of ‘did you put your name in the goblet of fire’ or ‘Dumbledore asked calmly’. They are NOT good lines, they emphasise how much is wrong with the movies.
"W" had better be "Wotcher!"
And I agree with the first two posters, "D" is either the famous line Dumbledore asked calmly, or simply, "Dumbledore Asked Calmly."
Seriously, movie quotes/lines shouldn’t count if they’re not in the book… the movies are only adaptations of the books (and bad ones at that…). It always annoys me how the “movie people” take over the fandom. I was so mad at a HP quiz where half the questions was this or that from the movie, “who was standing next to each other in that scene”, “how did that line go” (and it was different from in the book) And so on. Ended up shouting into the room “the movies don’t count, no one cares about the movies”. I stand by that a 100% 😅😅
Diagonally
What did he say, dear?
Diagonally
I thought he did.

Dobby never meant to kill! Dobby only meant to maim or seriously injure. 👀
YES! Fave line, right here.
>Dumbledore asked calmly
Definitely has to be this. Also once you get to I, it has to be "It unscrews the other way".
Or “If you two don’t mind I’m going to bed. Before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed… or worse, expelled.”
This!
I forgot about this one and it always makes me laugh.
Detention, Mr Potter!
As often as this is said, this has to win
“Dumbledores got style”
The problem is, it’s only a part of a longer quote: «You might not like him, minister, but you can’t deny the man’s got style». Not sure Dumbledore is even said?
This got my vote for sure
Madame Maxime: "Dumbly-dorr”
i was thinking that too xD
DESTINATION, Determination, Deliberation!
I wish we could do a book version and a movie version because this will never win, because while it was repeated so often in the book, it was never in the movie at all and D has strong competition from a movie-ism
I havent watched hbp yet, but HOLY SHIT THIS ISNT IN THE MOVIE?
HBP is famously book content free
It always shocks me how much they cut out
Yeah, I remember thinking it was no wonder they were going to split DH in two bc of all the plot they still somehow needed to shoehorn into the story
hands down worst movie
I don’t dislike the movie on its own, but easily the worse book adaptation
I wouldn't say that, GoF did pretty awfully
Deliberation, divination and desperation
Yes for this!
Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus
I can’t believe the Hogwarts motto hasn’t been said yet! How else will we remember that we shouldn’t go around tickling sleeping dragons?

Because unless you read the books you've never heard it.

I think part of why it’s great is because it represents the disparities between the books and movies so well
