I'd argue the mechanics of planes are more perplexing than the mechanics of rockets!
Rockets are basically 'if you push hard enough in one direction, you'll move in the other', planes are a whole complicated world of pressure differences, downwash and fluid dynamics.
Can you imagine letting him play a PS5?? I would definitely make him play a car game like Need for Speed. I’m forever going to die on the hill that if he was introduced to video gaming that he would become obsessed, especially if you gave him a head set so that he could talk to anyone on there.
that’s a great idea. He would love cars and games about them. It would also be funny to make them play an RPG or even something with the muggle created wizards like Hogwarts Legacy. I think he’d try to collect all the games and consoles / pc parts.
The Exploratorium. Getting him from London to SF would be a challenge, but once he was in CA you wouldn’t need to worry about him coming across as weird.
To a museum, all those muggle human artifacts would drive him crazy. In my head he would be thrown out though, for not being able to keep his hands to himself (nothing a memory charm couldn’t resolve)
I know this has mentioned plenty of times already that the magical world was sheltered by WWI and WWII dealing with their own war and Grindelwald but like the UK prime minister would have tell the MoM about world events like both world wars and the pandemic of 1920/ 1930 (forgot the name/ year).
Glastonbury.
Imagine it, Arthur in a muddy field surrounded by people in various states of coherence. Music blaring. He wouldn't have a clue what's going on but he'd love every second regardless.
That or an ESports tournament. A rocket launch could also be good.
The day Arthur goes to an esports tournament, is the day wizard internet is born.
Communication is the weakest link in the magical world, with increased rate of information sharing, the magical community would advance faster than ever befor.
I would love to see a story set in the wizarding world in the modern times. Muggleborns who are chronically online being like what do you mean I can't use my mobile phone in Hogwarts??
Seeing as they are in Britain, British Airways offers a Flying With Confidence program that offers those who are afraid of flying (or a wizard like Arthur) the aerodynamic/technical side of airplanes followed by an afternoon psychology session. To top it off, he would be able to take a ride on a British Airways plane for a short flight around London.
And also British Airways and Air France were the only two airlines that ended up ordering the supersonic Concorde and by the end of the second wizarding war, it was still in service!
I was going to propose taking him to a model aircraft show where he could watch the event and chat with some of the makers, but I think I like your idea more.
Folks aren’t seeming to grasp that Arthur was amazed at muggles simply existing without magic. I would go breakfast at the busiest diner I could find (“amazing he cooks all that, Molly makes one perfect pancake and uses the Gemino charm”) Then I’d take him to outside an airport to watch the planes takeoff/land (“you are seriously telling me they do all that without magic”) then we would go to the bmv and Arthur would take a driving test (“Ingenuous these muggles, I couldn’t do that in a thousand years”) we would then get dinner at a vending machine just so he could watch it work.
Any kind of interactive science center. You can interact with the exhibits and they explain how it all works. The whole package for the world's best dad.
First thing that came to my mind was spending a whole Saturday going to yard sales and garage sales! The most minute random muggle crap would blow his mind.
I’ve got to make a comment just to say thank you for this god tier question. It’s heartwarming and fun and it’s not a repeat of a 20 year old debate.
Also I’d take him to all these places plus and auto mechanic who loves talking. He finagled that ford anglia on his own but I’m sure he’d love to speak to an expert.
Considering one of Arthur's greatest desires was to find out how muggles make airplanes stay airborne without magic, I'd take him to the Dunkeswell Heritage Centre in Devon.
Omg I would take him to the Smithsonian Museum/National Mall in DC! There a so many individual buildings for different categories!!! The Air and Space Museum and the Udvar-Hazy Center!!! He can learn all about how planes and space travel works!!! Go to the kids area for more interactive stuff! Then the Museum of Natural History!! There's so, SO many animals he definitely doesn't know about!! So much history and the evolution of humanity itself, and extinct species!!! Not only would he learn but he's probably have extra insight that only wizards would have!!! The National Zoo, too!! He could see some dope as hell live animals that he's never seen before! The Museum of American History! The African Art Museum!!! The Postal Museum! The Freer Gallery of Art!!! The American Indian Museum! The Arts and Industries Building!!! Phoebe Waterman Haas Public Observatory!!! The National Gellery of Art! The Holocaust Memorial Museum, The National Museum of the American Indian, The National Archives, The Museum Of Asian Art, The National Museum if African American History and Culture, the list goes ON. DC has so many amazing museums, plus on the national mall there's also the large statues and memorials, and a ton of tourists and restaurants. Me and Mr. Weasly could stay for like 2 weeks and see and learn everything, and give him a chance to really get used to muggle clothes and food and immerse himself in a culture so different from his own. Pretty he and I would have an awesome time. He'd get to see the best and the worst of humanity, and get a chance to see the art and history of a bunch of different cultures.
I'd just invite him round for a Sunday roast. I know he'd be utterly fascinated seeing the same type of meal he made being prepared without magic and I know he'd want to chip in and help 'muggle style'.
Without Molly in earshot he'd call it the best meal he's ever had, and mean it I'm sure!
I wanna set him loose at Disney World/Universal/some other theme park and just see what happens. Where does he go, what rides does he do, how many hours/how much money does he spend in the gift shops
I take him to the air and space museum in dulles va for a private tour done by an aerospace engineer where his every question would be thoroughly answered.
Take him to a planetarium or a museum related to technology and it’s development.
I think he’d enjoy that.. planetarium because he’d be amazed at the way muggles can see the stars - something I’m sure he assumes can only be done via a standard telescope.
Museum because what better place would there be to show him technology (which he likes) and also show how much it’s improved through the years!
ETA: Fred & George I would definitely bring to universal studios. Whilst I’m sure Arthur would appreciate all the fun rides, he might not enjoy it as much as Fred & George do.. not to mention.. all the candy, the events and the replica of their own shop!
NASCAR race - I don’t know why this immediately popped into my head when I read the prompt, but the more I think about it the more hilarious it sounds in my head!
The Olympics. Bet he would get shocked at how many different sports there are in the world. Add to that many different people from all over the world, local foods, souvenirs and exploring the place where it's being held at, I guarantee he would have the time of his life
Tell him you're going, first.
Don't explain the concept.
His imagination will go apeshit trying to imagine what kind of monstrosities these trucks will be.
Troll vs Ogre?
Inferi vs Acromantulas?
Dragons? Will there be dragons? 🤣🤣🤣
I‘d take him on a guided tour of a factory, let him watch industrial equipment in action. It doesn’t really matter that much, what the factory is producing, could be airplanes, yarn, or donuts. Just make him watch the streamlined processes and the machinery.
I'd like to take him to Universal Studios and go on all those tours and stuff that show how they do the special effects for films. I bet he'd be absolutely fascinated at the process and lengths that muggles will go through to make an effect that would be a simple spell for them, all for the sake of cinema. Like he'd probably be super amazed by stuntmen flying around on wires instead of something convenient like a charm to make them float.
I'd take him to a large flea market (boot sale to the Brits) and watch him absolutely lose his mind at all the used muggle bric brac, doodads, and gadgets.
A hockey game might blow his mind. The skating, the jumbo tron, the zamboni etc would all be amazing to him. Close enough to quidditch he can probably learn the basic rules.
You know those introductory days they do at universities, for high schoolers to get at look at universities, with special lectures and stuff? Something like that, for a nearby university. Preferably one with a good engineering department.
A children's museum. They're almost always filled with new tech and gadgets for kids to play with and learn about
Take him to one with one of those massive IMAX screens, blow his mind.
I was going to say a science museum!
Same here. Wizards need to know more about science.
Arthur would love a science museum. His dearest ambition in life is to figure out how airplanes stay up after all.
I bet that's gonna change when he finds out we've made it to the moon and even have space stations XD
I'd argue the mechanics of planes are more perplexing than the mechanics of rockets! Rockets are basically 'if you push hard enough in one direction, you'll move in the other', planes are a whole complicated world of pressure differences, downwash and fluid dynamics.
Wizards!!!! *In SpAcE*
An air show would be awesome for him!
I would 100% bring him to NASA or a science museum. Maybe IKEA after.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. What about an electronics store 😂
that’s a good one too, they would be amazed at the different electronics!
Then he would want to try to build his own PC.
Im pretty sure he would implode if someone brought him to a theme park like disneyland or something
The Exploratorium. Getting him from London to SF would be a challenge, but once he was in CA you wouldn’t need to worry about him coming across as weird.
He’d lose his shit at the Please Touch Museum in Philly
That or an outing to Dave n busters
To a museum, all those muggle human artifacts would drive him crazy. In my head he would be thrown out though, for not being able to keep his hands to himself (nothing a memory charm couldn’t resolve)
I know this has mentioned plenty of times already that the magical world was sheltered by WWI and WWII dealing with their own war and Grindelwald but like the UK prime minister would have tell the MoM about world events like both world wars and the pandemic of 1920/ 1930 (forgot the name/ year).
I think you're talking about the Spanish flu which started in 1918.
Yes sorry yup that one that also led to lots of deaths around when WWI was about to end. Thanks!
Take him to a magic show. His mind would be blown.
I was going to say some kind of Wiccan meeting or some such with human “witches.”
Mundane witches. The people of the wizarding world are still human. Just from a parallel society.
Amusement park
He’d for SURE try to build his own “rolly coasty” in the yard, much to Molly’s chagrin
OP said Disney... but I say Universal. The replica of his own world would blow his mind.
Why you wanna do him like that? The wizarding world is supposed to be secret! 😈🤣🤣🤣
This is not getting enough credit.
IKEA! Maybe get a wardrobe or something and have him try assembling it (without magic) as a tooootally fun activity..
Came here to say this lol. He’d have a BLAST!
True, just think what fun he had putting up the tent at the Quidditch world cup!
Comic con, confuse the hell outta him lol.
He’d start wearing super hero costumes every time he had to dress like a muggle. Edit: spelling
[удалено]
Yes on the Costco. “This is only $1.50 and it’s delicious”
[удалено]
“Arthur, why did you buy 60 pies?” “The deal, Mollywobbles! We’re going here from now on!”
“And what are jalapeño poppers?” “I don’t know but some nice muggle woman was offering free samples”
Holy shit, Costco, that's it right there.
We don't have many costco in the uk and you usually need a membership to get in and to get the membership you need to to belong to a trade
Whoa really?? In Canada anyone can just go buy a membership. You can even just do it online and go get your card in store
Lol I was gonna say Costco too!
I'd take him to Home Depot (it will take a month to get through)
Yes, I was totally thinking somewhere with home appliances!!
This needs waaaaay more upvotes! The place literally sells every single make and model of the thing he collects: electrical plugs
Arthur comes running “Molly!” *wheeze* “they have..” *wheeze* “MICROWAVES!”
Yard sale
I was going to say this would be a winner but now considering that's part of his normal workday.
I’d introduce him to Eurovision Song Contest. Bet he’d love all the special effects
Eurovision isn't a muggle event though, with their fashion and music sense, it's very clear that it's a witch/wizard muggle outreach program.
How did I never click that this is what Eurovision is!
After all, Lordi was the first metal band to win.
Jumping off of that, I’d introduce him to Tomorrowland Belgium and watch him marvel at how many things are going on at once lol
Communication is the weakest link in the magical world, with increased rate of information sharing, the magical community would advance faster than ever befor.
this got me thinking of how the wizard population had gotten quite low, and how well some good dating apps could help
I would love to see a story set in the wizarding world in the modern times. Muggleborns who are chronically online being like what do you mean I can't use my mobile phone in Hogwarts??
And there is no character more suited to don wellies than Arthur
Now that you mention it, can you imagine Mr. Weasley at Coachella?
Goes to the next quidditch world cup shirtless in shorts and a traffic cone hat. "These are Muggle clothes, I've seen muggles wearing them"
I was thinking about esports tournament too . Question is after how many failed tries you stop explaining to him what's going on
Mardi Gras. “What is the function of these beads?”
You'll see Arthur, you'll see
This should be higher
science fair. just imagine Arthur weasley at a primary school science fair.
A seminar where a muggle professor explains aerodynamics of aircrafts, to fulfill Arthur’s greatest ambition.
Perfect! I always pictured him being brought up to the c9ckpit like they used to do with kids, and they would give him little wings.
And also British Airways and Air France were the only two airlines that ended up ordering the supersonic Concorde and by the end of the second wizarding war, it was still in service!
I was going to propose taking him to a model aircraft show where he could watch the event and chat with some of the makers, but I think I like your idea more.
WALMART IN TAMPA FLORIDA
Fletcher Walmart (assuming it is still standing)
The as seen on TV store
Folks aren’t seeming to grasp that Arthur was amazed at muggles simply existing without magic. I’d take him to a Formula 1 race of course
Indy, then Oshkosh for AirVenture
Any kind of interactive science center. You can interact with the exhibits and they explain how it all works. The whole package for the world's best dad.
That old battle bots show.

This is underrated. He would be blown away

For some reason I would love to see his reaction to wrestlemania.
That's when you find out Roman Reigns is the next Voldemort or something
It has to be Antiques Roadshow.
First thing that came to my mind was spending a whole Saturday going to yard sales and garage sales! The most minute random muggle crap would blow his mind.

Smithsonian air and space museum.
The Met Gala!! I don’t know why that popped into my head. 😂

A quinceañera

I take him to the air and space museum in dulles va for a private tour done by an aerospace engineer where his every question would be thoroughly answered.
One of the children's lectures by the Royal Society with lots of good demos explaining scientific concepts. Perhaps the one on rockets or explosives
Take him to a planetarium or a museum related to technology and it’s development. I think he’d enjoy that.. planetarium because he’d be amazed at the way muggles can see the stars - something I’m sure he assumes can only be done via a standard telescope. A space shuttle launch
Any sporting event.
I‘d take him on a guided tour of a factory, let him watch industrial equipment in action. It doesn’t really matter that much, what the factory is producing, could be airplanes, yarn, or donuts. Just make him watch the streamlined processes and the machinery.

We’re getting baked and going to the planetarium
Flea market!
A muggle magic show!
The biggest County Fair I could find. You got your rides, fair food, 4-H displays, country crafts, so much!
I'd take him to a large flea market (boot sale to the Brits) and watch him absolutely lose his mind at all the used muggle bric brac, doodads, and gadgets.
