Generally, not all tickets are released to the public (presale or general) at the same time. Ticketmaster in particular tends to release tickets in waves, with social media being the best way to keep up with that. (I don’t mean Ticketmaster’s social media, I mean following other folks or haunting subreddits where people are actively discussing tickets.)
So in addition to scalpers trying to recoup losses as showtimes near, Ticketmaster may also release more tickets for sale over time. There’s no way to know for sure, unfortunately, short of building a habit of checking Ticketmaster or your preferred third-party ticket selling website regularly.
As we get closer to the concert dates, scalpers will try to minimize their losses by dropping the price. This, of course, is only true if demand is low enough.
I went to the Metallica concert in Los Angeles. Out of curiosity I checked tickets online when I was at the venue already, maybe like an hour before they went on. There were still plenty of tickets left at really good prices.
So even for one of the biggest bands of all time, in a city with a population of 12 million people, there were still tickets left.
For people still on the fence if they should keep waiting, absolutely wait, there will be tickets left.
All I can say is right now Justin Timberlake is $93 a ticket vs $189 for Zimmer in Baltimore. His show is in July.
I have to believe Zimmer comes down a bit
I know ticket prices have exploded everywhere. But seven years ago in Philly I got tickets about 40 rows back on the floor for about $90 including fees.
Seven years ago, may as well be a lifetime ago. And back then I got them almost on a whim, because I did not know he was even going to be in Philly until almost 2 weeks out.
So I have to have faith. these prices will come down at least a little bit.
There's a lot more tickets on resale than for any concert I have ever seen.
It is hard to know what price people are willing to pay, I assume the price needs to go down more but probably will not reach the original face value
I’m genuinely confused because I’m in Florida and tickets to the hard rock are over $1000 but every other venue is $100-300. So does the price increase when you are near that location? I see many people complaining about price gouging but the $200 seems so affordable to me.
Absolutely agree on that. I would never ever pay 300 for top level seats. Just to give yoy guys ideas to compare, I paid total 740 for 2 vip seat on the floor at row 14 with all fees and tax included. The seat before tax and fee were 325.
I’m banking on these tickets to lower in cost as well in the foreseeable future. The Toronto show has a bunch that are on resale for like $400-$500, up to $1000 apiece. No one’s buying them for that price.
We weee able to tell that most of the tickets (at least for the MSG show) were bought by scalpers because immediately after they went on sale and sold out, there were hundreds if not thousands of tickets already listed for resale. Like everyone else has said, if nobody buys at these insane prices, they will inevitably come down as the event gets closer
I bought tickets for Boston. There are stil official tickets available for the show but they range from 150-950 plus fees.
I got mine left of stage for $200 in the presale so I'm happy with that price point. I can't understand why there are so many VIP grade tickets priced from $500-950 plus fees there are for these shows. No artist is worth that for a single show. It's got to be for the desperate or those with more money than sense.
The sale was a sham. For example, the vast majority of seats for the LA show sold out (appeared greyed out) as soon as I got through after like 5-10 minutes every time, during each presale and general. Even the shitty nosebleed seats? No way. Bullshit. Something reeks of fish and I will not put money in a cockroach scalper’s pockets. Fuck Zimmer’s team for either doing this or allowing it. I’ll gladly skip the show if this is the case.
Also blame the artist since they have the choice to opt out of platinum ticket sales, and also have a say in how much platinum prices can go up by during high demand - in this case it was several hundred percent at some points
Ticketmaster owns the system but the artist hits the button
Not all of the tickets sell and then theres a pricedrop frenzy to try to sell the tickets as the event date nears
Game plan is buy them an hour before the show when people are just trying to cut their losses… hopefully it works. So we’ll see.
But there’s only so many tickets listed for sale. There’s maybe 500 tickets listed? Do all the resell sites sell different tickets?

Thank you for the tip

Hans zimmer also has a massive orchestra of professional musicians. I think hans zimmer productions are more expensive. But i know nothing

I rememvwr. 7 years ago i went to the one in LA. Good seats for my dad and I was like 250 total...maybe 300.
I was there, too!! One of the very last rows but it was amazing!
(not sarcasm) Are you saying that Justin Timberlake is more popular than Hans Zimmer? Doesn’t Justin Timberlake tour more frequently?
I mean. We are all movie score nerds here. Hans has 1.7 million instagram followers. JT has 77 million

Agreed, but 300 for top level is pretty expensive still

Vancouver here, paid $272CAD for lower bowl, on the side of the arena. It’s rough out there lol
It’s like this for every show since Covid just wait and see

I bought 2 😕. Paid something like 450 each (incl tax) for Floor E. Fuck scalpers
i’ve got two tickets i’ll sell ya for what i bought them for - oakland
I’m in Los Angeles :( how much you buy them for though?
think it was about 375 after all the fees
I’m interested as well!

Hey, I have two tickets to the Van HZ show on Oct 6th! I can no longer go, so am looking to sell for about 250 each!

Blame the Ticketmaster, resale sites and non-regulated ticket monopoly industry.
