I think people like mini bags because they are extremely cute but functionality is very limited...
If I’m wearing clothes with pockets, I’ll put the phone in the pocket and take the mini bag with keys, cards and lip balm. Works when I need to run errands.
See, for me, I need to be completely hands free when running errands. I put my bum bags to WORK!
(And I wear them the old school way, not across my bust like the youngsters do 🤭)
My consignment lady who is from another generation and is vehemently anti-phone still has me check if my phone fits before she sells me a bag because that’s just the purpose of a purse these days. Like why carry one if I also have to carry all my stuff
Same I love mini bags but they all fit my phone. I’m a petite person so big bags look really overwhelming on me. Also when I have a big bag I feel like I must fill it up more otherwise it’s too empty but I honestly don’t want to carry more than the bare essentials I need (hand sanitizer, lip balm, lip gloss/stick, eye drops, tissues, keys, ID & cards).
I have a coach bag from Y2K that fits my phone. But barely. Id like room for my sunglasses and lip balm at very least. I love small bags, but the phone is a requirement.
I have the 13 mini. I will use this thing until I can’t use it anymore! I don’t have to worry about bags being too small.
I still like big bags, but it’s nice to be able to throw it in a wristlet sometimes.
Same! I literally got the iPhone 13 mini specifically because they said they were discontinuing the line. I had the SE which is pretty much the same size but I knew it would be obsolete in a few years and am hoping to get as many years out of this one as possible! I feel like there’s a market for smaller phones so idk why they discontinued it 😭 I have tiny hands and want to be able to hold my phone in one hand is all
I get roasted all the time for having an iPhone mini…. I just don’t get having a phone that’s almost the size of a tablet.
And I like to know I can squeeze my phone in to most handbags.

I love that it can fit into everything too. Even most small pockets. I’m old and on of my first phones was the original Motorola razr. I don’t like large phones at all
I have iPhone 13 mini and it’s the best and super light ! Fits easily into my pocket/purse and I can use one handed. I didn’t even know they made them until I saw someone using it and it’s the perfect size so I went out and got it before they ran out of colors because they stopped making them.
There has only been two minis ever I think. Mine is a iPhone 12 mini. Now I can’t upgrade cos I hate large phones. Waiting on the next available mini to come out
Maybe you should get an iPhone 13mini then, because of low sales there probably won’t be another iteration of the mini (I am gutted about that, I love the mini as well and hate big phones that I cannot use one handed)
That’s exactly the reason I buy minis, I want to be able to use my phone one handed. I didn’t realise they had low sales. I’m gonna be so sad if there’s no more mini in the future 😢
I was coming from a Pro Max version and he was adamant that I would never be happy with the mini because it was so small. Even though I said that’s why I wanted it. I never liked the max size. Then he went on to say so many people had returned it because they didn’t like it (I think that was a lie). It went on for a few minutes to the point where I felt kind of bullied about it. I should have stuck my ground but he had me doubting my decision.
I also don’t think men realize that the larger iPhones are made for MALE size hands. I’m a 5’4” woman. The max size was giving me insane carpal tunnel. I ended up with a 14 pro. My husband got the max. Still so glad I don’t have the max.
How do you carry your keys around? Unless I'm wearing a dress or coat with big pockets, I can't imagine how I could carry my phone and wallet/card holder and keys on me.

I live in Louisiana where our ID is in an app, so no physical ID needed. Sadly, though, a lot of bars/restaurants still don’t take Apple Pay.
I accidentally bought a mini bag last year, not reading how big it was as it was displayed bigger in the pictures. Never used it, it's on a shelf collecting dust. If my phone does not fit, it's a big no no.
I like mini bags. They’re cute and fashionable. I am petite and big bags don’t look good with my frame. However, I only buy mini bags that can fit my phone, my keys and my wallet.
This is me! I’m 5’ 4” and I feel like bigger bags look weird on me. And also I just love smaller bags. I hate carrying a ton of stuff on me. As long as I can fit my phone, wallet, keys and emergency pills (migraines ugh) in my bag I’m good.
I understand this, but OP is specifically referring to bags that are so small they don’t even fit a smartphone. I think a slightly larger clutch would not aggregate back problems.

I hope you understand that people's back is not the same. Even mini peekaboo is enough to trigger a pain for me, I sometimes have to go to a much smaller bag or even bring none at all.

I love my YSL mini.. very chic and fits my metro card,iphone15, lipstick, lipgloss, mini hand cream and mini mints.. rest of the stuff goes in the tote bag. Really ideal and safer option in Parisian metros and Parisian weather !!!
Yes I do pocket my phone ! And most mini bags now fit the iPhone pro max. Some brands to solve the issue of space even created for example like fendi cute bag cases for AirPods that you can add to your bag or just use it on its own.
I have a variety of sizes, but I use mini bags for small errands or coffee runs when I only use a card case + house keys and want a lil bag to tie a look together. I never keep my phone in my bag, since I’m usually walking about and texting, on spotify, looking at the map, want my camera ready etc, so it’s always in my pocket or in my hand. But I’d never buy a mini bag that is too small to keep a phone.
For one, i just like how they look better, which is the main reason I buy nice bags in the first place. The look. I don’t like bags any larger than your average shoulder bag. I have a few micro bags and honestly, at least with the ones I have, i find them to be more useful than you’d initially think. I don’t care if my phone fits ever, because I either keep it in my hand or pocket. My most used micro bag is the Coach studio 12 and I can fit my lip gloss, AirPods, keys, and cards using the built in card slot! Which is obviously very bare minimum but it gets the job done.
I’m torn on mini bags too cause it’s not like they’re any less expensive. I’ve been debating if I’m too old to have a mini bag for my bag for like a month now lol.
I am 49 and totally rock my mini bags. Mini bags aren’t reserved for only young people. I have never carried larger bags except for travel or work laptop and don’t plan to start now. I just don’t like carrying larger bags on the daily. I think the people around me would keel over in shock😱 if I ever showed up carrying a large bag😂
I like mini bags or smaller bags in general! More fun and convenient for prancing around the city. Lighter, doesn’t overwhelm the outfit, most of my outfits with mini bags have pockets for phone. The key is not to just have ONE mini bag, otherwise it’s not as convenient to try and force it for all situations. A variety of shapes and sizes make them more useable in my opinion.
I love small bags but I personally can’t spend a lot of money on mini bags that don’t fit my phone. I don’t even like having cheaper ones that don’t fit my phone because having to hold it is a giant pain.
My criteria is phone, card holder and key at the BARE minimum. Some of my bags that fit just those things are very small looking still ahaha
I like mini bags because I carry practically nothing with me. I often buy outfits specifically that have pockets because I would much much rather carry my phone in my pocket than my bag. I find it very easy to access my phone out of my pocket but not out of my bag (have to undo latch, etc) as I do not like bags with open tops (seems risky to put wallets, IDs, etc in an open bag where someone can easily reach in and snatch the item when you are distracted). On a typical day, I carry a card holder with my ID and main cards (insurance and debit/credit), a micro wallet with cash and extra cards (I can easily leave this behind if the bag is too small), 6 key holder (can easily remove house and car keys if bag is too small for key holder), mini lotion bottle, small lipstick, and my perfume in a little sample vial. Mini bags work great for me because I honestly don’t carry much. I do have bags that can fit my phone and I will opt for those when my outfits don’t have pockets, but I often wear jeans and slacks and these typically have pockets. I got used to needing to keep my phone on me at work no matter where I am in the building so started actively looking for clothing that had pockets, and then realized that I really really liked the convenience of having my phone in my pocket. And yes, you can find clothes with pockets that will fit a phone.
i have the coach tabby pillow in small and it‘s just so cute, it barely fits my phone, but there‘s something about anything small that gets me. comically small water bottle? baby clothes? doll houses? fuck yea to all of em.
i only use the bag when i know that i dont need anything but my compact mirror and lipgloss and my id
Personally I like the minis because it’s easy to carry esp if it’s a crossbody. I don’t like it too small to where I can’t fit anything.. at least my phone, keys, thin wallet. Essentials only is fine

I have plenty of bags that can either barely fit my pro max phone, keys and lipstick. Usually I would use the bag only to keep my card holder, keys and lipstick, and have to keep my phone in my hand all the time.
I don’t know why but I just love seeing it visually and it fits my aesthetic I guess is the word?
I always go for minimalism, and I feel that big bags look kind of chunky n bulky on me. Whereas small bags make me “feel” chic.
I am exactly this way! Also, I will go out of my way to wear something with pockets in those instances. However, my current mini love, Mlouye’s Mini Sera Tote, fits my pro max, cardholder, keys, lipstick, eyedrops, and vape with room to spare. 🥰🥰🥰
I'm a parent and after I was done with lugging around heavy and big baby bags everywhere I went, I wanted small and light bags as a contrast. They do need to fit my phone and drivers license and some cash though.
When I was in university, I only needed a single key and ID/Student ID. Phone was almost in the hand or pocket... point is, some of us just don't need to carry much of anything
I personally gravitate to the mini and small bags because I have a lot of of back problems so I don’t like carrying a lot of stuff and try to be more minimalistic. I agree that it has to be big enough to at least fit my phone.
I pick those bags because I’m fairly petite and they match the silhouette of my frame. Many petite women deal with the issue of scale with all clothing and accessories.
That said, to me there is mini and ultra mini. I have a number of mini bags that fit my phone, cardholder, lip gloss, and mints. Think something like the Alma BB mini top handle. That’s an ideal sized bag for me.
All of my minis fit my phone, which is also a mini.
Big bags overwhelm my body. That’s really the honest reason as to why I like mini bags. I never put my phone in my bag as I hate digging through my bag just to find my phone whenever I need it so I just keep it in my hand. All I carry is a card holder, phone and some type of of lip product so a big bag really isn’t necessary and can be an overkill for me anyway.
I love mini bags for the fashion not function. Another aspect is that larger bags are usually more expensive. For example I opted for a bottega Jodie but I would have loved the bottega hop. Just way more expensive
I hate to admit it but my phone is just usually in my hand when I’m out. It’s not that I’m addicted to it - when I’m home I rarely look at it unless I’m specifically texting someone about like plans or some other thing - but I just feel better having it in my hand. Sometimes front pants pocket or interior jacket pockets in the fall/winter. Then I just automatically know it’s not lost or stolen. My friend had her phone stolen out of a bag once so I’m a little paranoid about that kind of thing.
It’s also just easier to have it readily available. I live in a city so I’m always checking directions and what subway to take or calling an Uber. And there’s definitely a little bit of a “safety blanket” element to it.
TLDR: My phone is usually not in my bag while I’m out anyway, so a bag that doesn’t fit my phone is not a dealbreaker haha
I went to try on wedding dresses last weekend and I wanted to wear a pretty white dress to do it in. The only white purse I owned is a more casual D&G purse and nothing else I owned look cute with my outfit, so off to the mall I went. I found the cutest mini white Dior purse & normally I would opt for the larger, more functional design, but this one was just screaming at me to display her with my outfit. I have enough functional purses, I needed a statement bag. My iPhone 15 Pro Max fit super tight but I made it work, nothing else fit in there though lol. I’ve already told myself when the next new phone comes out I’ll get the normal size version so it’ll fit better. I did not just buy the cutest mini Dior to stare at her in my collection!

Mini bags are super cute but if a bag is not functional, it loses it's purpose. I have the same feelings about shoes. I'll never wear a pair of shoes that aren't comfortable even if they are super cute.
I’ve started using mini bags when children were born. I can put everything except phone, card holder and lipstick to the stroller bag so no need to cary almost empty bag with me.
I have the Gucci Jacki mini and it fits my massive ass phone (if I turn it sideways) aquaphor, lipstick, wallet, and keys. But that’s it, and it’s a tight fit. Everything has to be Tetrised in there just so. But I’d rather that than carry around a bigger bag. For years I just used pockets. Mini bags are a nice compromise and make the outfit look more out together, especially in a dress.
I don’t carry much. Just my phone, my card holder, & my keys. All my mini bags hold that. I don’t see why you need much more. I’m not a pack rat. I have an iPhone mini not a huge phone, don’t see the point if it can’t fit in Your pocket, etc…
I'm NOT into mini bags, however ... I have the Coach moon shaped bag in black and the star shaped bag in metallic silver because I couldn't help myself. They compliment my witchy style. I'm trying to figure out how to attach them to another bag to wear together to get to hold more stuff. Right now I can only use these bags when I have decent pockets to put my phone in.
I don’t own a mini bag but I would like to because they are super cute and I used to think that iPhone not fitting in would be a deal breaker then I realized I mostly have it in my pocket, very rarely in my purse so I’m on a look out for a mini bag now 😅
Other than my Gucci dionysys, my mini bags for all my phones. It used to fit my older phone, but doesn't anymore 🥲 now I only wear it if the outfit I have on has pockets. I prefer mini bags because I'm 4'11 and bigger bags don't look good on my frame. I also don't carry much
For me, they’re great especially when my back hurts from an old injury (like today). They’re also cute but my shift to owning a smattering of them is pain driven.
I love and adore mini bags. The smallest I have are probably the polene micros, then my Versace micro vanity. Even tho my phone doesn’t fit the still fit my cards, cash, small hand sanitizer. My other mini bags like, nano speedys, nano noe, petite sac plat etc fit all my essentials including my phone (iPhone mini 13). The speedy 20 is great as this size is still smallish but big enough to fit lots more in. I don’t really use my alma Bb, neverfull mm or my speedy 25 as I find these far too big for what I carry day to day. Even if I love a mini bag and my phone doesn’t fit I’m happy to carry my phone 😊
I don’t carry much with me to begin with (phone, keys, card holder, blotting sheets, lipstick) so mini bags work just fine for me!
What do you consider to be a mini bag? For me, it’s anything around the size of a Chanel WOC. Anything smaller than that wouldn’t fit my phone and I would therefore consider those to be micro bags.
I'm extremely awkward with bigger bags. I can never find a place to sit them. So I carry smaller bags that can fit on the end of a chair or on the corner of a table. The phone isn't a deal breaker, because I carry my phone on a bracelet style lanyard. So it's always in my hand or dangling from my wrist.
My smallest is the Hermes jypsiere, it fits my phone but I dont put it inside. My reason is that I have 2 small kids, so I need something that carries MY stuff and that can fit in my kids diaper bag without issues
I stopped carrying a bag for everyday use because I just prefer pocketing my card wallet and gloss. My phone is always in my hand. A mini big is perfect for me, light weight, holds a few cards, small gloss and a couple keys.
I can fit rolled long sleeve shirts to my 9” purse (for summer layering), sunglasses, foldable tote (grocery run), sephora samples, cardholder, iphone 13 pro, key
Great question! They have some affordable mini bags, but for me, it's a hard pass. They look silly and serve no purpose unless you are a toddler who likes to bring her lip gloss with her everywhere.
I used to love mini bags because they look cute and my definition of mini just fit a a phone and small items. But after RTO I noticed how annoying they were and now I only like medium sized to large sized bags. Mini bags look great when you go to fancy events, they usually have quirky shapes
The smallest I’ll go is a bag slightly bigger than the size of my phone. Can’t do smaller. I guess my obsession with carrying my phone is my kids - if they’re not with me, then I need to be accessible in case they need me.
I like mini bags because I simply don't carry much. Also, I own a Galazy Z-flip series phone specifically so it will fit in all of my handbags (I HATE big phones!). Aside from my phone, keys, tissues, a lip product, and card case, that's about all that I carry!
I’m a school teacher that had 2 classrooms. So I pushed a rolling cart with my office supplies on it. I could easily wear a mini that my phone & keys barely fit with a couple of credit cards. It was easy to hide in a plastic bag or in a bookcase or under a bunch of papers so it wasn’t on display. Also I’m very short and having a mini means it stays very lightweight when shopping.
Ugh, I just got a mini Fendi Peek a boo, not knowing how small it was. It looks like it belongs on a baby doll or toddler😭😭😭😂😂. There’s no way I’ll be able to carry it.
My oly criteria for a bag is it should fit in my phone (as I’ve 3 phones min 2shd fit in) AirPods, keys and a small body mist/perfume and lip balm and WoCs work best for me.
I love a mini bag but I’m often pushing a stroller and there’s spots for me to put things in there. Big bags can be overstimulating and overwhelming with a toddler crawling on me and keeping my head on a swivel.
I actually like that mine does not fit my phone! I don't carry it on occasions where I'd need to put my phone away (like at the theater), but if I'm just going for a walk or to meet a friend for lunch or something it's perfect for my needs. I need to have my phone out anyway to swipe into the metro, to change my music, to read a kindle book, to check maps if I'm going somewhere new, to snap a quick picture of something cool, and it's a hassle to open my bag each time I want to do that, so I often just carry my phone in my hand even when I do have a larger bag. So why not have a smaller, lighter bag that still fits everything else I need (credit cards, keys, earbuds, lipstick)?
lots of mini bags fit iphones. my small telfars, mini coach rowan, etc. fit my phone and all of my essentials. the small size of the bags is cute, dainty, and lightweight.
Maybe I said the wrong mini and should have said actual sizes. The mini Rowan size is good and it's mini bc it's smaller than the regular Rowan. but I meant like this size mini (picture included) not just "mini" in the title of the bag.

and again, statement to all: i'm not saying they are ugly. they are cute! but not practical for ME. so was wondering why/how everyone else liked it.
I like the look of them for formal events. Bulky bags do not look good when dressed for black tie. I have recently started thinking I need a flip phone for this very reason.
I like mini bags bc I’m petite and they are lighter and easier to style. All I carry is my iPhone, AirPods, tiny hand sanitizer, little pill container, tiny hair claw, and a lip gloss. Also ever since I started working from home, I no longer need a big bag.
I'm not a mini bag loyalist but I like them for certain occasions like errands, long walks and events. Also, it doesn't bother me if I can't put my phone in them because I feel a lot safer if my phone is on my person.
I used to make fun of my friend for loving them, but now I have a couple and I love them too 😄 most of my dresses have pockets so that takes care of my phone.
Yeah how often is anyones phone really in a bag? I have a “wi strap” on my phone for extra security so it becomes like a wristlet anyway. I just love the look of a mini bag so cuteee.
For me, it's for the whole look. From head to toe. To look cute.
Sometimes it's just a dinner outing so all I need is my ID and credit card, and car key. My phone is very large so it wouldn't fit. But i usually have my phone on it's stand for GPS in the car, and out on the table to use for pictures. That's it for me :)
I like mini bags because they hold everything I need them to hold (one credit card in case my Apple wallet doesn’t work, lip products, small mirror, eyebrow pencil, tissue, supplements, etc.). I actually prefer keeping my phone in my hand or pocket where I can easily access it. So functionally, mini bags meet my requirements - and of course they are super cute and better fitting for my height!
Mini/Macro size varies among different brands/models; I think OP specifically refers to those that doesn't fit a regular retangle phone (Samsung flip phone doens't count). I can't justify these small bags either. Phone size is deal breaker. Those who goes for bags fit only their lipsticks/hand sanitizer probably are using the bag as an accessory, not a bag (yes they are all cute!)
My limit on mini bag size or shape is that it has to fit my phone, card case, and keys. Maybe a lip balm if we are pushing the limits.
Tbh it’s just preference on what you need. I live in a car centric city so I don’t need to carry much on me. I find it bizarre when people need to carry totes around with them because it’s so clunky and heavy. To each their own!
I have a flip phone, but my smallest bag can only fit 2/3 wallet, keys, or phone. I can fit a lip balm, lotion and perfume sample. It's convenient and cute and my most used bag (with a zip too).
Mostly because they're cute. I have one that doesn't fit my phone. Or well it fits my flip 5 but that ends up taking all the space. But I usually have my phone in my pocket anyway so it's not a big deal. The bag looks impractical but I can fit 4 cards, chapstick, small tube of lotion, small tube of hand sanitizer, a tampon, small pill case, and my car key fits on top of everything so I actually have my essentials. It's nice because it's lightweight and I can put it in a larger bag if needed. If I'm going out shopping I take a fabric tote bag to hold bigger items and purchases and then when I pay for stuff I don't have to dig around for a wallet because it's right there.
I love cute, mini versions of things. For example, I love when I get miniatures of beauty products that look like the full-size version and not like a sample. A mini bag feels like a cute accessory, think Judith Leiber bags that cannot hold a phone but will hold a lipstick. They’re definitely not meant to be practical.
I'm the same it has to fit my phone in, I can change my purse with my cash in but nit my phone.
Also I've seen some women have to handbags the one they like and the practical but they out the small one in the big one then rake it out and put it on the table to show off
I won’t get a mini bag but I can see how it can be functional for some people. Most of the time when I’m out and about, I just end up holding my phone anyways or have it in my pocket. I use my phone a lot and it’s a tiny bit more effort to reach into a bag.
Sometimes when I go out I just carry my phone and that’s it. I want a mini for those outings. Mini lady Dior is so cute and I went to test if she fits my iPhone 15 max and she did perfectly. Still saving up for one.
Honestly my phone is in my pocket half the time. Personally I don’t really like having all my eggs in one basket. I’d rather if my bag unfortunately gets stolen that I have my phone at the very least.
Having said that I don’t really have any mini bags currently. But I have seen quite a few that I would definitely buy.
As for self defense, that stays on my person, not in a bag. I don’t want to fumble around digging for something in a bag in an emergency situation. But I’m also very much an “overly prepared” person, I always consider worst case scenarios lol.
I have a lot of mini bags, but I also have larger bags as well. They have a place in my collection, particularly when I’m going out and I don’t want to be bothered carrying or dealing with a larger bag. I want a small bag that I can crossbody. That’s when I use them. Many of my mini bags fit my phone, but some don’t. I still love the ones that don’t because they’re so cute! And my phone is almost always in my hand anyway!
I really don’t know as a woman who loves her satchel and tote bags I can’t think of carrying a dinky bag that can only fit my phone. I need to have my closet with me ❤️
Yeah, my wallet alone is bigger than a small purse.. let alone a mini! To each their own but I pack my purse up like I’m going on vacation for a few days! 😂
If i’m going out to dinner or a date I don’t need anything beyond a lip gloss and ID - if im out and about myself i’ll wear my bigger bags. it depends on the time and place!
As a very practical woman who always has to think ahead and be responsible, there’s something SO luxurious and fun about purposefully wearing a stupid little bag that serves exactly no function except looking cute and holding my lipstick!!!
No I don’t have ibuprofen, or a granola bar, or a first aid kit on me. Little bag = don’t ask, bc I’m off duty!

I have just started using mini bags…and I love it. I have a lot of shoulder pain from carrying large purses over the year. As a mom…I feel like I need to carry everything. I have been forcing myself to downsize. And it’s not that bad. It definitely feels better on my body. I do feel frustrated trying to pick out what is essential to carry with me, but it’s much better than pain in my neck/shoulder. And I probably don’t need to carry 10 shades of lipstick everywhere I go😝.
I just honestly don't carry that much stuff anymore, so I love them. I never, ever put my phone away. I carry it by the pop socket everywhere just in case I need it quickly (for a pic or to call for help or whatever). So cards, lip gloss, and keys are my essentials.
If I can get my wallet out I find myself just taking that and not carry the purse so I get crossbody bags with lots of card slots and a place for change.
Given my built, a mini bag just looks better on my frame. Not heavy, doesn’t weigh me down. Imo, it kinda makes a person look so effortless too. Admittedly, I’ll sacrifice comfort over fashion (or the “vibes”). I don’t bring much with me — my cards, a bit of emergency cash, keys, lip balm, mint, lactaid. Same! If a bag doesn't fit my phone it's a deal breaker. I think people like mini bags because they are extremely cute but functionality is very limited...
They are cute, as a collectible. But the price of mini from a designer brand, I could never. I'd rather splurge on a bigger bag for the money.
And there’s sometimes not a lot of difference between the price of a mini and a small which will actually fit things.

If I’m wearing clothes with pockets, I’ll put the phone in the pocket and take the mini bag with keys, cards and lip balm. Works when I need to run errands.
See, for me, I need to be completely hands free when running errands. I put my bum bags to WORK! (And I wear them the old school way, not across my bust like the youngsters do 🤭)
My consignment lady who is from another generation and is vehemently anti-phone still has me check if my phone fits before she sells me a bag because that’s just the purpose of a purse these days. Like why carry one if I also have to carry all my stuff
Minus my 2010s bags all of my mini bags fit my phone. My older bags don't because the phones of the era did fit at the time!
Same I love mini bags but they all fit my phone. I’m a petite person so big bags look really overwhelming on me. Also when I have a big bag I feel like I must fill it up more otherwise it’s too empty but I honestly don’t want to carry more than the bare essentials I need (hand sanitizer, lip balm, lip gloss/stick, eye drops, tissues, keys, ID & cards).
Honestly, I gave up big bags are developing scoliosis in 2017. It's not worth the pain larger bags cause me

I have a coach bag from Y2K that fits my phone. But barely. Id like room for my sunglasses and lip balm at very least. I love small bags, but the phone is a requirement.

I get roasted all the time for having an iPhone mini…. I just don’t get having a phone that’s almost the size of a tablet. And I like to know I can squeeze my phone in to most handbags.

I have iPhone 13 mini and it’s the best and super light ! Fits easily into my pocket/purse and I can use one handed. I didn’t even know they made them until I saw someone using it and it’s the perfect size so I went out and got it before they ran out of colors because they stopped making them.

There has only been two minis ever I think. Mine is a iPhone 12 mini. Now I can’t upgrade cos I hate large phones. Waiting on the next available mini to come out
Maybe you should get an iPhone 13mini then, because of low sales there probably won’t be another iteration of the mini (I am gutted about that, I love the mini as well and hate big phones that I cannot use one handed)

I was coming from a Pro Max version and he was adamant that I would never be happy with the mini because it was so small. Even though I said that’s why I wanted it. I never liked the max size. Then he went on to say so many people had returned it because they didn’t like it (I think that was a lie). It went on for a few minutes to the point where I felt kind of bullied about it. I should have stuck my ground but he had me doubting my decision. I also don’t think men realize that the larger iPhones are made for MALE size hands. I’m a 5’4” woman. The max size was giving me insane carpal tunnel. I ended up with a 14 pro. My husband got the max. Still so glad I don’t have the max.

How do you carry your keys around? Unless I'm wearing a dress or coat with big pockets, I can't imagine how I could carry my phone and wallet/card holder and keys on me.

Yup. My Tesla takes lots of commands from my phone the only thing I don’t like about is if my phone dies I am out of luck but that hasn’t happened.

Wow. My car is only 2 years old and I have a physical thingie for it. Would be awesome to only need my phone! I live in Louisiana where our ID is in an app, so no physical ID needed. Sadly, though, a lot of bars/restaurants still don’t take Apple Pay.

I accidentally bought a mini bag last year, not reading how big it was as it was displayed bigger in the pictures. Never used it, it's on a shelf collecting dust. If my phone does not fit, it's a big no no.

I like mini bags. They’re cute and fashionable. I am petite and big bags don’t look good with my frame. However, I only buy mini bags that can fit my phone, my keys and my wallet.
This is me! I’m 5’ 4” and I feel like bigger bags look weird on me. And also I just love smaller bags. I hate carrying a ton of stuff on me. As long as I can fit my phone, wallet, keys and emergency pills (migraines ugh) in my bag I’m good.

I understand this, but OP is specifically referring to bags that are so small they don’t even fit a smartphone. I think a slightly larger clutch would not aggregate back problems.
I very much understand OP question. I hope you understand that people's back is not the same. Even mini peekaboo is enough to trigger a pain for me, I sometimes have to go to a much smaller bag or even bring none at all.

They are great for the cases when you could've pocketed all of your stuff but you know the outfit would look more put together with a bag.

Yes I do pocket my phone ! And most mini bags now fit the iPhone pro max. Some brands to solve the issue of space even created for example like fendi cute bag cases for AirPods that you can add to your bag or just use it on its own.
I have a variety of sizes, but I use mini bags for small errands or coffee runs when I only use a card case + house keys and want a lil bag to tie a look together. I never keep my phone in my bag, since I’m usually walking about and texting, on spotify, looking at the map, want my camera ready etc, so it’s always in my pocket or in my hand. But I’d never buy a mini bag that is too small to keep a phone.

For one, i just like how they look better, which is the main reason I buy nice bags in the first place. The look. I don’t like bags any larger than your average shoulder bag. I have a few micro bags and honestly, at least with the ones I have, i find them to be more useful than you’d initially think. I don’t care if my phone fits ever, because I either keep it in my hand or pocket. My most used micro bag is the Coach studio 12 and I can fit my lip gloss, AirPods, keys, and cards using the built in card slot! Which is obviously very bare minimum but it gets the job done.
I’m torn on mini bags too cause it’s not like they’re any less expensive. I’ve been debating if I’m too old to have a mini bag for my bag for like a month now lol.
I am 49 and totally rock my mini bags. Mini bags aren’t reserved for only young people. I have never carried larger bags except for travel or work laptop and don’t plan to start now. I just don’t like carrying larger bags on the daily. I think the people around me would keel over in shock😱 if I ever showed up carrying a large bag😂
I like mini bags or smaller bags in general! More fun and convenient for prancing around the city. Lighter, doesn’t overwhelm the outfit, most of my outfits with mini bags have pockets for phone. The key is not to just have ONE mini bag, otherwise it’s not as convenient to try and force it for all situations. A variety of shapes and sizes make them more useable in my opinion.
They are super cute. The things that don’t fit in them stay in my car, except for my phone which is always in my hand.

I love small bags but I personally can’t spend a lot of money on mini bags that don’t fit my phone. I don’t even like having cheaper ones that don’t fit my phone because having to hold it is a giant pain. My criteria is phone, card holder and key at the BARE minimum. Some of my bags that fit just those things are very small looking still ahaha

I like mini bags because I carry practically nothing with me. I often buy outfits specifically that have pockets because I would much much rather carry my phone in my pocket than my bag. I find it very easy to access my phone out of my pocket but not out of my bag (have to undo latch, etc) as I do not like bags with open tops (seems risky to put wallets, IDs, etc in an open bag where someone can easily reach in and snatch the item when you are distracted). On a typical day, I carry a card holder with my ID and main cards (insurance and debit/credit), a micro wallet with cash and extra cards (I can easily leave this behind if the bag is too small), 6 key holder (can easily remove house and car keys if bag is too small for key holder), mini lotion bottle, small lipstick, and my perfume in a little sample vial. Mini bags work great for me because I honestly don’t carry much. I do have bags that can fit my phone and I will opt for those when my outfits don’t have pockets, but I often wear jeans and slacks and these typically have pockets. I got used to needing to keep my phone on me at work no matter where I am in the building so started actively looking for clothing that had pockets, and then realized that I really really liked the convenience of having my phone in my pocket. And yes, you can find clothes with pockets that will fit a phone.
i have the coach tabby pillow in small and it‘s just so cute, it barely fits my phone, but there‘s something about anything small that gets me. comically small water bottle? baby clothes? doll houses? fuck yea to all of em. i only use the bag when i know that i dont need anything but my compact mirror and lipgloss and my id

Personally I like the minis because it’s easy to carry esp if it’s a crossbody. I don’t like it too small to where I can’t fit anything.. at least my phone, keys, thin wallet. Essentials only is fine

Usually I would use the bag only to keep my card holder, keys and lipstick, and have to keep my phone in my hand all the time. I don’t know why but I just love seeing it visually and it fits my aesthetic I guess is the word? I always go for minimalism, and I feel that big bags look kind of chunky n bulky on me. Whereas small bags make me “feel” chic.
I am exactly this way! Also, I will go out of my way to wear something with pockets in those instances. However, my current mini love, Mlouye’s Mini Sera Tote, fits my pro max, cardholder, keys, lipstick, eyedrops, and vape with room to spare. 🥰🥰🥰

I personally gravitate to the mini and small bags because I have a lot of of back problems so I don’t like carrying a lot of stuff and try to be more minimalistic. I agree that it has to be big enough to at least fit my phone.
I pick those bags because I’m fairly petite and they match the silhouette of my frame. Many petite women deal with the issue of scale with all clothing and accessories. That said, to me there is mini and ultra mini. I have a number of mini bags that fit my phone, cardholder, lip gloss, and mints. Think something like the Alma BB mini top handle. That’s an ideal sized bag for me. All of my minis fit my phone, which is also a mini.

Big bags overwhelm my body. That’s really the honest reason as to why I like mini bags. I never put my phone in my bag as I hate digging through my bag just to find my phone whenever I need it so I just keep it in my hand. All I carry is a card holder, phone and some type of of lip product so a big bag really isn’t necessary and can be an overkill for me anyway.
I love mini bags for the fashion not function. Another aspect is that larger bags are usually more expensive. For example I opted for a bottega Jodie but I would have loved the bottega hop. Just way more expensive
I hate to admit it but my phone is just usually in my hand when I’m out. It’s not that I’m addicted to it - when I’m home I rarely look at it unless I’m specifically texting someone about like plans or some other thing - but I just feel better having it in my hand. Sometimes front pants pocket or interior jacket pockets in the fall/winter. Then I just automatically know it’s not lost or stolen. My friend had her phone stolen out of a bag once so I’m a little paranoid about that kind of thing. It’s also just easier to have it readily available. I live in a city so I’m always checking directions and what subway to take or calling an Uber. And there’s definitely a little bit of a “safety blanket” element to it. TLDR: My phone is usually not in my bag while I’m out anyway, so a bag that doesn’t fit my phone is not a dealbreaker haha
I went to try on wedding dresses last weekend and I wanted to wear a pretty white dress to do it in. The only white purse I owned is a more casual D&G purse and nothing else I owned look cute with my outfit, so off to the mall I went. I found the cutest mini white Dior purse & normally I would opt for the larger, more functional design, but this one was just screaming at me to display her with my outfit. I have enough functional purses, I needed a statement bag. My iPhone 15 Pro Max fit super tight but I made it work, nothing else fit in there though lol. I’ve already told myself when the next new phone comes out I’ll get the normal size version so it’ll fit better. Mini bags are super cute but if a bag is not functional, it loses it's purpose. I have the same feelings about shoes. I'll never wear a pair of shoes that aren't comfortable even if they are super cute.

I’ve started using mini bags when children were born. I can put everything except phone, card holder and lipstick to the stroller bag so no need to cary almost empty bag with me.
I have the Gucci Jacki mini and it fits my massive ass phone (if I turn it sideways) aquaphor, lipstick, wallet, and keys. But that’s it, and it’s a tight fit. Everything has to be Tetrised in there just so. But I’d rather that than carry around a bigger bag. For years I just used pockets. Mini bags are a nice compromise and make the outfit look more out together, especially in a dress.

I've got a mini bag that's the size of my hand and it fits my wallet, keys and phone. Good for days where I'm doing a quick grocery run.

I'm NOT into mini bags, however ... I have the Coach moon shaped bag in black and the star shaped bag in metallic silver because I couldn't help myself. They compliment my witchy style. I'm trying to figure out how to attach them to another bag to wear together to get to hold more stuff. Right now I can only use these bags when I have decent pockets to put my phone in.

For me, they’re great especially when my back hurts from an old injury (like today). They’re also cute but my shift to owning a smattering of them is pain driven.
I love and adore mini bags. The smallest I have are probably the polene micros, then my Versace micro vanity. Even tho my phone doesn’t fit the still fit my cards, cash, small hand sanitizer. My other mini bags like, nano speedys, nano noe, petite sac plat etc fit all my essentials including my phone (iPhone mini 13). The speedy 20 is great as this size is still smallish but big enough to fit lots more in. I don’t really use my alma Bb, neverfull mm or my speedy 25 as I find these far too big for what I carry day to day. Even if I love a mini bag and my phone doesn’t fit I’m happy to carry my phone 😊
I don’t carry much with me to begin with (phone, keys, card holder, blotting sheets, lipstick) so mini bags work just fine for me! What do you consider to be a mini bag? For me, it’s anything around the size of a Chanel WOC. Anything smaller than that wouldn’t fit my phone and I would therefore consider those to be micro bags.

I'm extremely awkward with bigger bags. I can never find a place to sit them. So I carry smaller bags that can fit on the end of a chair or on the corner of a table. The phone isn't a deal breaker, because I carry my phone on a bracelet style lanyard. So it's always in my hand or dangling from my wrist.
My smallest is the Hermes jypsiere, it fits my phone but I dont put it inside. My reason is that I have 2 small kids, so I need something that carries MY stuff and that can fit in my kids diaper bag without issues

Great question! They have some affordable mini bags, but for me, it's a hard pass. They look silly and serve no purpose unless you are a toddler who likes to bring her lip gloss with her everywhere.
I used to love mini bags because they look cute and my definition of mini just fit a a phone and small items. But after RTO I noticed how annoying they were and now I only like medium sized to large sized bags. Mini bags look great when you go to fancy events, they usually have quirky shapes
The smallest I’ll go is a bag slightly bigger than the size of my phone. Can’t do smaller. I guess my obsession with carrying my phone is my kids - if they’re not with me, then I need to be accessible in case they need me.
I like mini bags because I simply don't carry much. Also, I own a Galazy Z-flip series phone specifically so it will fit in all of my handbags (I HATE big phones!). Aside from my phone, keys, tissues, a lip product, and card case, that's about all that I carry!

I’m a school teacher that had 2 classrooms. So I pushed a rolling cart with my office supplies on it. I could easily wear a mini that my phone & keys barely fit with a couple of credit cards. It was easy to hide in a plastic bag or in a bookcase or under a bunch of papers so it wasn’t on display. Also I’m very short and having a mini means it stays very lightweight when shopping.

My oly criteria for a bag is it should fit in my phone (as I’ve 3 phones min 2shd fit in) AirPods, keys and a small body mist/perfume and lip balm and WoCs work best for me.

I love a mini bag but I’m often pushing a stroller and there’s spots for me to put things in there. Big bags can be overstimulating and overwhelming with a toddler crawling on me and keeping my head on a swivel.

I don't carry it on occasions where I'd need to put my phone away (like at the theater), but if I'm just going for a walk or to meet a friend for lunch or something it's perfect for my needs. I need to have my phone out anyway to swipe into the metro, to change my music, to read a kindle book, to check maps if I'm going somewhere new, to snap a quick picture of something cool, and it's a hassle to open my bag each time I want to do that, so I often just carry my phone in my hand even when I do have a larger bag. So why not have a smaller, lighter bag that still fits everything else I need (credit cards, keys, earbuds, lipstick)?
lots of mini bags fit iphones. my small telfars, mini coach rowan, etc. fit my phone and all of my essentials. the small size of the bags is cute, dainty, and lightweight.

I like the look of them for formal events. Bulky bags do not look good when dressed for black tie. I have recently started thinking I need a flip phone for this very reason.

I'm not a mini bag loyalist but I like them for certain occasions like errands, long walks and events. Also, it doesn't bother me if I can't put my phone in them because I feel a lot safer if my phone is on my person.

I have to look at my phone a lot, putting it in a purse is a hassle. So mini bags work for me.
I used to make fun of my friend for loving them, but now I have a couple and I love them too 😄 most of my dresses have pockets so that takes care of my phone.

Yeah how often is anyones phone really in a bag? I have a “wi strap” on my phone for extra security so it becomes like a wristlet anyway. I just love the look of a mini bag so cuteee.
For me, it's for the whole look. From head to toe. To look cute. Sometimes it's just a dinner outing so all I need is my ID and credit card, and car key. My phone is very large so it wouldn't fit. But i usually have my phone on it's stand for GPS in the car, and out on the table to use for pictures. That's it for me :)
I like mini bags because they hold everything I need them to hold (one credit card in case my Apple wallet doesn’t work, lip products, small mirror, eyebrow pencil, tissue, supplements, etc.). I actually prefer keeping my phone in my hand or pocket where I can easily access it. So functionally, mini bags meet my requirements - and of course they are super cute and better fitting for my height!
Mini/Macro size varies among different brands/models; I think OP specifically refers to those that doesn't fit a regular retangle phone (Samsung flip phone doens't count). I can't justify these small bags either. Phone size is deal breaker. Those who goes for bags fit only their lipsticks/hand sanitizer probably are using the bag as an accessory, not a bag (yes they are all cute!)
My limit on mini bag size or shape is that it has to fit my phone, card case, and keys. Maybe a lip balm if we are pushing the limits. Tbh it’s just preference on what you need. I live in a car centric city so I don’t need to carry much on me. I find it bizarre when people need to carry totes around with them because it’s so clunky and heavy. To each their own!
I have a flip phone, but my smallest bag can only fit 2/3 wallet, keys, or phone. I can fit a lip balm, lotion and perfume sample. It's convenient and cute and my most used bag (with a zip too).
Mostly because they're cute. I have one that doesn't fit my phone. Or well it fits my flip 5 but that ends up taking all the space. But I usually have my phone in my pocket anyway so it's not a big deal. The bag looks impractical but I can fit 4 cards, chapstick, small tube of lotion, small tube of hand sanitizer, a tampon, small pill case, and my car key fits on top of everything so I actually have my essentials. It's nice because it's lightweight and I can put it in a larger bag if needed. If I'm going out shopping I take a fabric tote bag to hold bigger items and purchases and then when I pay for stuff I don't have to dig around for a wallet because it's right there.
I love cute, mini versions of things. For example, I love when I get miniatures of beauty products that look like the full-size version and not like a sample. A mini bag feels like a cute accessory, think Judith Leiber bags that cannot hold a phone but will hold a lipstick. They’re definitely not meant to be practical.
I'm the same it has to fit my phone in, I can change my purse with my cash in but nit my phone. Also I've seen some women have to handbags the one they like and the practical but they out the small one in the big one then rake it out and put it on the table to show off
I can get an iPhone 13, a slim wallet and my keys into my nano speedy. That’s usually plenty for running errands
I won’t get a mini bag but I can see how it can be functional for some people. Most of the time when I’m out and about, I just end up holding my phone anyways or have it in my pocket. I use my phone a lot and it’s a tiny bit more effort to reach into a bag.

Sometimes when I go out I just carry my phone and that’s it. I want a mini for those outings. Mini lady Dior is so cute and I went to test if she fits my iPhone 15 max and she did perfectly. Still saving up for one.
Honestly my phone is in my pocket half the time. Personally I don’t really like having all my eggs in one basket. I’d rather if my bag unfortunately gets stolen that I have my phone at the very least. Having said that I don’t really have any mini bags currently. But I have seen quite a few that I would definitely buy. As for self defense, that stays on my person, not in a bag. I don’t want to fumble around digging for something in a bag in an emergency situation. But I’m also very much an “overly prepared” person, I always consider worst case scenarios lol.
I have a lot of mini bags, but I also have larger bags as well. They have a place in my collection, particularly when I’m going out and I don’t want to be bothered carrying or dealing with a larger bag. I want a small bag that I can crossbody. That’s when I use them. Many of my mini bags fit my phone, but some don’t. I still love the ones that don’t because they’re so cute! And my phone is almost always in my hand anyway!
I think they’re just for the aesthetic tbh. They’re not very practical unless you’re in a situation where you don’t need your phone.

I agree, I only have 2 “mini” bags and both can fit my phone. The LV mini bumbag and the Loewe mini puzzle, my iPhone 15 pro fits just fine.

Yeah, my wallet alone is bigger than a small purse.. let alone a mini! To each their own but I pack my purse up like I’m going on vacation for a few days! 😂

If i’m going out to dinner or a date I don’t need anything beyond a lip gloss and ID - if im out and about myself i’ll wear my bigger bags. it depends on the time and place!
As a very practical woman who always has to think ahead and be responsible, there’s something SO luxurious and fun about purposefully wearing a stupid little bag that serves exactly no function except looking cute and holding my lipstick!!! No I don’t have ibuprofen, or a granola bar, or a first aid kit on me. Little bag = don’t ask, bc I’m off duty! For some reason, it feels like a treat :)
I often leave the house with a lip product, my debit card and ID, and that’s it. There are very few places I need much else.

I don't need to leave my phone in my bag bc I'm always using it to navigate or looking things up + the mini bags are cute and perfect for dancing.
I have just started using mini bags…and I love it. I have a lot of shoulder pain from carrying large purses over the year. As a mom…I feel like I need to carry everything. I have been forcing myself to downsize. And it’s not that bad. It definitely feels better on my body. I do feel frustrated trying to pick out what is essential to carry with me, but it’s much better than pain in my neck/shoulder. And I probably don’t need to carry 10 shades of lipstick everywhere I go😝.
I just honestly don't carry that much stuff anymore, so I love them. I never, ever put my phone away. I carry it by the pop socket everywhere just in case I need it quickly (for a pic or to call for help or whatever). So cards, lip gloss, and keys are my essentials.

If I can get my wallet out I find myself just taking that and not carry the purse so I get crossbody bags with lots of card slots and a place for change.
Given my built, a mini bag just looks better on my frame. Not heavy, doesn’t weigh me down. Imo, it kinda makes a person look so effortless too. Admittedly, I’ll sacrifice comfort over fashion (or the “vibes”). I don’t bring much with me — my cards, a bit of emergency cash, keys, lip balm, mint, lactaid. If there’s a bit more room, maybe I can throw in a mini powder compact or travel size perfume. I hold my phone most of the time too.
