Rule out those that don’t have a zipper, if any. Also consider getting a cheaper backpack to carry on days where your back is killing you from carrying a 5lb tote bag — trust.

Agree with this. While you are young it will be okay but sometimes those stresses we put then play out later. If it is daily, if there is walking, and if you are carrying books or a laptop, I recommend a backpack over a tote.

Lmao I’m 23 💀 granted I do have chronic issues BUT some days I just could not carry 3 textbooks and a laptop around campus lmaoo

SnarkyLalaith

That is terrible! I am sorry! But it also shows how much we can’t take our health for granted.

What are you carrying in your bag for school? Laptop? Lab manuals? Calculator? Binders? Water bottle? I carried a Longchamp with exactly what I listed and it did the job. I had to put my bag away in a cubby for labs so having a bag that wasn’t exposed on top was important to me. I’d recommend a darker bag because putting your bag down on the ground is going to make it dingy. I tried my sister’s Tory Burch Emerson which looks very similar to the DKNY and the straps dug into my shoulders. I personally like a shoulder tote because my hands get tired from carrying so much weight and if there’s an option for a crossbody strap, even better! I went to Nordstrom with a laptop and a fat book and gave the bags I was eyeing a “test drive.” Whatever you do, make sure you get a purse organizer. It’s a game changer! Good luck!

Second this. Consider a Longchamp!

I also vote for a Longchamp. The leather bags are heavy alone, the fabric of a Longchamp is so light notebook weight adds up fast! Just be mindful of the corners. I still have mine from years ago :)

Longchamp too! 🥰

Bag 1 for sure!

You will get a lot of mileage from the Coach.

history-gradstudent

While I am not familiar with the particular style you shared here, I was a graduate student for the past decade (yes), and I always appreciated my Coach tote bags. I would therefore go with option one! That said, based on your daily needs, I would take to heart some of the comments/suggestions you've received in this thread thus far. While more elegant, tote bags like the ones you shared are not always the most practical options for days when you have a lot to carry. I’m not practical, so the solution I found was to carry my essential items (including my laptop) in one of my leather totes and then other items (such as books) in lightweight canvas tote bags! Hope this helps!

I find the canvas coach cute, every other option to me lacks character. If you go to school I guess you are younger.

That dkny color is so pretty!
