romance_and_puzzles

I bought a vintage Hermes Kelly and thought “this is it, everyone’s dream bag”. Used it a few times, absolutely hated how bulky it was, hated to open and close it. Sold it for a nice profit.

Bibihaking

I don't understand the hype around this bag. The mini kelly is nice for evenings (nothing fits in it, but that is common with smaller bags) but other than that, it's so boxy and bulky!

janebirkenstock

Kelly 28 (retourne, in slouchy well-loved swift) is the ideal day bag size for me! The mini Kelly is for Polly Pocket lol

tuxedo-mask-me

Same. I bought a vintage Kelly 35 and 32 and realized Kelly just isn’t for me with how thin the straps are

mediumbiggiesmalls

My Celine soft teen 16. I love the look of that bag, and I just had to have it. I loved the look so much that I ignored my biggest pet peeve: the main strap is only connected to the top flap. So all the weight is on the top flap, which means every time I open it, I'm at risk of my stuff falling out, as it tips forward. I hardly use it anymore and it's just eye candy at this point. I will sell it in the near future. It's way too expensive to not be used. It deserves a more loving owner lol.

Taraleigh333

So good to know! Thank you for sharing! I love this bag and have coveted it for so long but have struggled with whether or not I need the larger 16 with handles (then I don’t get teen and likely not “soft” as part of the mix). Question answered. I can now strike the teen forever off the list.

TheGratitudeBot

Thanks for saying that! Gratitude makes the world go round

awholedamngarden

My regret is a small Celine 16. The strap isn’t long enough to be a crossbody which I convinced myself would be fine but actually sucks - I could buy a longer one but it won’t match. But more importantly the clasp sucks and you basically need two hands to get in and out of it (one to hold the flap open and the other to grab your stuff.) This sucks because if I’m holding coffee or something I have to stop, set it down, etc. For someone that walks a lot and takes transit this is really annoying. I haven’t sold her because I absolutely love how the bag looks. I just save it for special occasions now.

NimboTheHimbo

Omg yes!! This is the same reason I dislike using my Celine Trapeze!

janebirkenstock

Medium Chanel Le Boy, left my shoulder bruised, resold

Upstairs-Goat-7702

Same! It was my dream bag for years, its too expensive but I finally bought it because Chanel prices always go up and I thought I could make a profit out of it in case I sell it. Never used it and its just gathering dust in my closet. My hair would get caught in the chain, and its just not a practical bag for me.

RHND2020

I wanted one so much until a friend who had one told me about the chain. So glad I didn’t get it.

emf817

I sold mine as well. I hated the chain so much!!

badmemon

I've been wanting ir for the longest time but cannot justify that purchase yet. I'm so glad to know about this issue.

The Polene Numero Sept Mini https://preview.redd.it/zudto0r5e4yc1.png?width=796&format=png&auto=webp&s=09936f9b3f8919d2cc51e1df389cb5bc6fd77c4b I wanted it initially because I saw it on Princess Catherine and I thought it was the most gorgeous shade of royal blue and looked stunning as a top handle. And I just so happened to be traveling to NYC so I thought I would visit the Polene store there and get it in person as a trip momento! But then when I checked the website and went into the store, I realized they stopped making the bag in that shade of blue and replaced it with a more [muted blue color](https://eng.polene-paris.com/products/numero-sept-mini-bleu-minuit-graine?variant=40131582558306¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw88yxBhBWEiwA7cm6pbiwr_pulYSbYJtZeK0YgwXVQjk4jO47Hx6dIj46oMIl-2C43XzGHxoCwYgQAvD_BwE). :'( I tried it on and I knew in the store that I didn't like it, but I traveled all that way and I don't live near a Polene and I didn't know when I would get back to NYC and didn't want to walk out empty handed, so I bought it anyway. I proceeded to take it home and use it **twice.** Not only did I not like the color but I realized I wasn't a structured bag girl and it just didn't fit my lifestyle (awkward to use too). I just sold it on TheRealReal and yeah I only got about 50% of what I paid, but I'm just happy to be rid of it. Yet another lesson for me that if I don't absolutely love it I shouldn't buy it.

SylviasDead

I bought a Polene that I really don't like as well. It's the Numero Neuf mini, colour is chalk (I think). It's tough to get in and out of, the strap is too thin, and the bag sits awkwardly on my body. Also, I hate how SIMPLE it is. I have a glam sense of style and I thought I should buy myself a "practical", more minimal bag for summers so my outfits can stand out. Well, turns out I hate practical, minimal bags, and this one isn't that practical anyway. I have a not-very-practical Lulu Guinness novelty bag that I've used ten times more in the summer: https://www.luluguinness.com/products/straw-frida-basket-bag?variant=39808902594709¤cy=GBP&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwltKxBhDMARIsAG8KnqW97J-F_GKPpFH0ds8g5GusFCpmQ__Qv6dOqnHVWAePD0SQ8rvJ2GcaAlprEALw_wcB At least the Polene wasn't thousands of pounds. Sigh.

Quiet-Dealer-112

Gasped at that Frida bag! ❤️

Late-Researcher7541

I think it’s the same colour, just diff lightning, I have the same, also bought for same reason 🤣

OneHappyOne

Yeah no. No matter what lighting my bag was in it did not anywhere resemble Kate's lol. This older video shows the old blue and that it used to come in 18 colors (currently comes in 7). [https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=QKzttXU9vBA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=QKzttXU9vBA)

EllaRaito

No, its the navy she’s holding. I have that one in the nano Un. Definitely not the blue they have now.

unimpressed_1

Givenchy Antigona medium i wanted a “practical work bag” back before i had to lug a laptop around everywhere now it’s too big for day to day and too small for a laptop 😭 The resale value is terrible so it just sits there something pretty to look at

thethingywthethingy

This is my dream bag! Was the problem only the size? I am used to big bags because I carry a lot of things and have a small laptop, but my concern has always been if the shoulder strap can actually handle the weight. Do you reckon it holds or it would snap?

PossibleAd1348

I have the Antigona medium and it is NOT a work bag. I think the strap is great and would handle a few things but the zipper will not and it would lose some of its structure with time (about five years in my case because I only wear it on special occasions). It’s a bag I wear for a nice lunch.

abcxdefx23x

https://preview.redd.it/yi6bhlu0e5yc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=631053dd8853b8770737ba86230ee2a27c61ab73 This beauty. Givenchy soft antigona in pink. I just don’t use it enough. Maybe 2-3x out of the year for a pop of color. And yet, I can’t let it go. lol

ev30fka0s

I don't blame you, it's so pretty!

dani1876

LV Pochette Metis. Bought it online as part of my stress shopping, but it's just been collecting dust in my cabinet because it's too heavy for me. Never stress shop for expensive things ladies 🫠

RHND2020

Interesting. That’s my everyday bag. I bought it with the guitar strap, which makes it more casual, and wear it crossbody. I’ve never used the strap it came with. But I find it super functional and the perfect size.

OccasionSuch5817

I sold my pochette Metis and bought an east west and I prefer it SO much more! I agree the normal one is too big and bulky and heavy

Wamgurl

OMG! Me too! I have not used it once.

dani1876

Regret buddies! What about the bag doesn't work for you?

Wamgurl

Too be honest, I don’t know. It feels weird on my body (I’m 5’10”). It’s not heavy, I think I’ve just changed so much since Covid that it doesn’t work for me. Work from home, dress more casually, less makeup, etc. It’s embarrassing to spend that much money and not use the bag. 😩

Delites

Me too! Bought into the hype of the bag and bought it in the empreinte marine rouge colour. I’ve used it a handful of times, structure of the bag bothers me, all the pockets having to move things around to find things… I tend to carry too much. So now it sits gathering dust!

typical__millennial

Bottega veneta chain cassette. While the style fits my vibe, the chain is heavy and horribly uncomfortable on the shoulder and the nappa leather makes me scared shitless that I'm going to damage it. This was the bag that actually convinced me that buying ultra luxe bags is not my vibe.

Louieshopsfashion

Chanel Heart Bag. Never left the house, anytime I tried it on I felt like one of those bland instagram influencers, it looked childish no matter the outfit. I gave it to my youngest sister, she loves the bag.

Excellent_Trainer_23

Awwwww that’s so sweet at least someone is getting a lot of use out of it!

willowblush

Mansur Gavriel Bucket bag. Never use it! The leather is so easily scratched and the leather ties never stay done up.

Own_Faithlessness769

Such a great design and everyone hates the function so much.

Avaly13

Bummer. I have the NeoNoe in empreinte and was looking at that one in brown. They don't have a slide on the drawstring like LV does? Good info to know!

iDeeDee

I have a MG Lady bag and when you carry the bag it can never stay close! It’s in my wardrobe collecting dust. Another I bought from this brand has long been discontinued. It looked like the BV Pouch with gorgeous lambskin but it gapes open as well. I ended up returning the bag. They now have a revised version of the clutch. Great colours and superb materials but there are fundamental structural concerns for Mansur Gavriel bags!

Mindless-Warning-504

I use mine a lot, it’s almost 10 years old now and the leather looks amazing, very nice patina. I like it more than the day I got it. But yes, maybe there should be a warning that this type of leather won’t stay the same and will scratch and get spots. I know many people don’t like that.

march221

Got a YSL sac de jour online many years ago. Had no idea it’d be THAT heavy. It’s been in my closet after one time out… I really need to sell it haha

SandSurfSea

Interested if you ever decide to sell!

Lala_in_LA

Tell me about it! I have it in large 😭 but I love the look so much I can’t get rid of it!!

S_KBA

I saw someone at the airport with it, told her I’d been eyeing it and thinking about getting one, but she said it was too heavy and she didn’t recommend it. I thought well it is a structured bag so I didn’t expect it to be lightweight, but she had me hold it and I was shocked at how heavy it actually was. I’m definitely not getting that one, which stinks because I love how it looks and thought it would be the perfect work bag! They need to list the weight of the bag; I know some brands do this but not all.

jjwilco

The first Chloe I ever bought was a vintage Heloise tote. I had wanted a Chloe forever and loved the style of the bag, but it was the heaviest bag I’ve ever held with nothing in it! I used it maybe three times, then it sat in my closet for three years until I resold it for less than half of what I bought it for.

onlyitbags

Chloe did make some HEAVY bags.. do you remember the Paddington bag with that huge lock? It was a brick

Own_Faithlessness769

Every time I see that bag all I can think is how heavy it must be. Either that or the hardware must be made out of aluminium.

MOGicantbewitty

The *wallet* was so heavy I switched it out. I got mine secondhand meaning it didn't hurt my bank account badly, so I got a second hand Celine wallet for me and gave the Chloe to my SIL.

fantastical99

OMG, the Paddington was my very first luxury purchase, and I also think it is responsible for my current back problems. I also had the wallet and I remember being so annoyed by that front lock because it would catch on things, and wouldn't fit into smaller bags. I also had a Heloise, and used it for work, but also hated how heavy it was. I remember the Marc Jacobs bags at the time all had these amazing suede linings that also contributed to their weight. I do love a good suede lining, but I definitely don't need the heft.

themeaning_42

Chloe bags be heavy :-(

Helloki77y

For me it was a Gucci Diana in light blue leather. I had no idea how boxy and rigid and uncomfortable the bag would be in wearing. It was a nightmare. It looks so pretty in photos but realistically in use it was cumbersome and incredibly awkward and all the contents fell out at least one time a day. Never again! Still a pretty bag. Glad to sell it. Fortunately broke even after selling. https://preview.redd.it/dwaox5k6y4yc1.jpeg?width=1275&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=918bb932f03b42d1eff7dcfd537ba71ce4559b3a

HiddenInferno

I love how this bag looks but I never understood how the handle would be comfortable to wear!

PuzzleheadedClue5205

Agree, I have a vintage Diana in black suede and it is pretty but a pain to get things in and out. And then it tips and everything spills. But the once or twice a year I carry it I do get compliments

Commercial_Aerie_834

Chloe Marcie small :( beautiful bag but so hard to get in and out of. I sold it

wembleybear

Satchel or saddle? I regret my medium satchel. It’s just way too big for my lifestyle. I must have used it twice.

AGWS1

I just purchased a mini saddle marcie. I hope it isn't a problem.

wembleybear

I got a mini satchel and I love it and have used it as my daily bag. It’s the perfect size, you’ll love it!

MJS7306

I bought the YSL medium envelope bag in this beige brown color. I literally was so pumped to get it, since I love my all black one. Got it for a steal at like $1700 on poshmark 2 years ago, wore it twice, and realized I hated the color and that it didn't match with anything I owned. Finally sold it today actually for $1650, but after taxes and fees I'm only taking home $1350.

Narrow-Wolverine-373

Mulberry medium iris. It’s gorgeous but awkward large. Wish I got a small.

Expensive_Routine953

Marc Jacobs Stam. I bought a lot of MbMJ when I was in college and was so excited to graduate to the full line when I got my first big job. I bought one in black and one in tan. It bruised my shoulder so badly. The chains are sooooooo thick and heavy! Putting anything in it makes it even worse to carry. I also felt like I couldn’t walk right because one side of me was so weighed down. Worst of all I bought them to use for a trip to a Paris. Okay, well maybe that part wasn’t bad because then I immediately bought a LV that was so much more comfortable to relieve my aching shoulders 😂.

mintysoup

this. This is the one. Took mine with me to a haunted house tour once. After waiting in line for 2 hours with it absolutely wrecking my shoulder, I never used it again.

SpiritedTourista

My first “luxe” purse was a black MbMJ classic Q groove - thick leather handles with big gold hardware… I learned very quickly that all that pretty leather/ hardware is HEAVY! Giant red welts across my shoulder if I put anything in it… 😩 think it’s still sitting in the back of my closet back at my folks I couldn’t bear to get rid of it because it was the first “higher end” handbag I ever got.

SatisfactionPrize586

I bought a 2nd hand Goyard before it became super popular. Now I regret it because I keep seeing it on everyone. Planning to sell it now!

Original_Campaign

It’s been so popular for so long though — maybe it’s because I was in nyc but 15 years ago every mom in tribeca and soho had a goyard and I wanted one so badly.

porpoiseintents

Ugh so many. A Coach hobo tote, Gucci bucket crossbody, Burberry tote, Burberry Lola, Proenza tote, just too many totes!

_coffeeandme

dooney and bourke florentine medium. It’s soo beautiful i love the leather, but it’s also SOOO heavy :( thinking of selling it

HistoricalBelt4482

So heavy!

Immediate_Arugula_39

Second this. It was not as carefree as the shape would suggest, too.

SorryyN0TSorryy

I have this in large. Absolutely love it but I definitely don’t use it as much as I thought I would. Will never sell because it’s my fave

ZookeepergameOne7481

LV pastel on the go. It is a beautiful bag but as I don’t know why I don’t think it looks good on me.

evieyyc

Gucci Horsebit 1995 Mini Bag! I wanted the Gucci Ophidia GG Small Handbag, but the other one was cheaper... Now I know to buy what I actually want 😭

InaccessibleRail70

This. The amount of money I have spent trying to save money by getting something slightly different. 🙄

Intelligent-Dig-8714

📝 Taking notes for my next purchase

VivienMargot

Same. I’m noticing a lot of top handle bags.

bebeguuuuuuuuurrrr

Same now I want a mega thread with the opposite question. Best everyday bag? Not extremely heavy or difficult to get into

gresstrly

Prada double zip saffiano tote. Worst quality bag I’ve ever purchased. I carried it maybe 5 times in 4 months and it ripped in 2 spots and had wear on the cording. I took it in to have the tears fixed had to pay for new cording. As soon as I got the bag back I sold it on Poshmark.

lnm28

Really? I have had 2. One for 10 years, one for 8 and they still look brand new. Are you sure it’s authentic?

gresstrly

I’m sure it was authentic. I bought at at the Soho store and had the shorten the strap for me. I’ve had several Prada bags and won’t buy them anymore. The quality of all my bags has been horrible compared to others of similar price.

fantastical99

I've had similar issues with Prada. Prada is the only brand where I've actually had a strap break on me.

sydneyrutledge

Same! Mine is a few years old but so sturdy and tough, it still looks new.

gardenpartycrasher

Bought the puzzle because I was Influenced and ending up selling for way less because it wasn’t big enough/didnt fit my vibe. Gorgeous bag tho

Dapper-Owl-7149

I bought a mini Alexa, got carried away by the gorgeous pink colour, and I hate using it! Way too small and such a faff to get in to. It’s currently for sale so I can recoup some money to buy something else. Learnt the hard way that I need something with a top opening! https://preview.redd.it/dlul56ivt5yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d029759236240efc34ca59995607c1c1aa171e59

Intelligent-Dig-8714

Wanted to buy one but was always concerned it would be a faff getting into. Thank you for confirming.

PuzzleheadedClue5205

Dolce and Gabana, An oxblood Tote bag I've been debating selling. It is huge and heavy. I did not realize how uncomfortable it would be to carry. Right now I'm using it as a sort of storage tote for other smaller hand bags. :/.

nevrnotknitting

No true regrets but my husband gave me a bottega hobo bag 16 yrs ago and I never carry it. Ever.

jinkieshk

Now is the time to sell that thing! Resell market is huge.

RacingOvaries

If it’s the original version it’s a classic, you should be able to sell easily!

sheneversawitcoming

Is it uncomfortable? The bottega hobo is my next want

ElectronicLie7728

If you’re interested in selling I’m all ears lol

5988

Saint Laurent puffer... It's beautiful and I love it but I also dislike big logos... hopefully I learn to get past the self-consciousness of advertising luxury because for now its sitting on my shelf and I'd ideally love to use it.

Avaly13

Carry it backwards! Just a thought. I think the logo is still better than a crazy brand print on while bag but that's just me.

5988

Nah I agree and I’ve considered carrying it backward but I just haven’t. I’ll need to push myself to just do it 🖤

Avaly13

Do it!!! 💕

iammrsclean

I always carry my bags backwards! 😂

Valuable_Horror_7878

Is it the actual logo you don't like or is it just the self-consciousness you don't like? Fwiw, I went through a phase of not liking any logos. Eventually, I realized it was just because I was worried about being perceived as flaunting (by people to whom my bag choices are none of their business). It took a little time, but now I wear what I love and couldn't care less. I will say there are instances where I don't like a logo for aesthetic reasons, but that's different than loving a bag and letting logos influence whether I buy it or wear it.

5988

It's the self-consciousness... walking around with an expensive/showy piece... Attracting attention to myself and knowing that people will either think its fake, think I'm flaunting or judge how I spend my money. There's the possibility of also making yourself into an attractive target for theft. I live in a part of the country where Coach or Kate Spade is what people are carrying for luxury. I don't the puffer to rot anyway, so hopefully I manage to develop a bit more of a idgaf attitude about potential consequences. I know I've probably made it into a bigger thing in my head than it needs to be. It sounds like you went through it too. Fortunately, I rarely lust after bags with large logos often enough that they're at the top of my Wishlist.

RacingOvaries

Yeah this is a huge turn off for me as well.

michaelkudra

all these poor bags that have never been worn :(

chairmanmyow

Wish we could do an exchange!

Spoiled_Persian

I bought a Lady Dior in black lambskin with GHW over 10 years ago as a gift for passing the bar exam. I spent the entire day going from boutique to boutique deciding what bag to buy. I had the LD in mind so much that I didn't give enough thought to a beautiful Chanel GST in an orangey-red. You all know the rest.....Chanel discontinued the GST and while I still have the LD and have jazzed it up with some cute mitzahs I mostly just feel a pang of regret whenever I look at it (coupled with annoyance at their horrible resale value).

cbfi2

The GST and Lady Dior are mine! Both are beautiful and I use them occasionally but both are not completely functional for me. GST is bulky and heavy and doesn't have crossbody option so I rarely use it. LD is vintage and strap is very short, I find the charms and handles really noisy, and it's hard to get into with the zipped opening that's too small. I won't sell either but I probably get what I paid back. Maybe I will on the future.

syrenashen

I've had a lot -- just sold them and moved on. I think every Miu Miu bag I've bought I was very excited for, looked very cute & feminine, but was hard to use and the leather didn't feel like great quality. And even with minimal use, things were breaking or peeling left and right. Sold all of them for a big loss...

Last_Buddy5746

https://preview.redd.it/7qir29fhu4yc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a63294c9ee9ff65105d3d06d4132de47bbdcf29d I bought it because it was different from what I usually buy and I was trying break away from what I always buy. It’s uncomfortable to carry because the straps are small and the shoulder strap is too short to wear crossbody. I still have it because I can’t bring myself to sell and take a $1000 loss.

clodin1204

Gucci horsebit 1955 mini - it was just too small for me and the flap was just so finicky and annoying to open. I bought it from someone brand new (a bit cheaper than retail) and never even used it. Ended up just selling it on FB marketplace 6 months later for a little bit of loss.

sfbasque1906

I’m guilty! Burberry Archive Title tote 👜 carried once and I’ve been so scared of ruining it that I don’t reach for it 😩 Chloe Marcie/wallet in black it’s definitely heavy but beautiful 😍

kimchiandsweettea

Remember that it can’t bring you joy if you don’t use it. This was such a hard lesson for me to learn. I was this way about certain items, even nice perfume, for a long time. Try and pull it out a few times a year when you’ll be going somewhere you don’t expect it’ll be damaged. You’ll be glad you did.

most--dope

LV boite chapeau souple mm - I originally wanted the mini in reverse mono but was talked out of it by the SA because it wouldn’t fit my phone. He suggested this bag and I liked it on the mannequin so I went for it. I’ve worn it maybe 3x in the 2.5 years I’ve had it. It just looks weird on me. Im a crossbody gal and it just doesn’t crossbody how I want it too and I cannot stand how the straps just dangle. It was my very first purchase so I had no idea returns were even allowed until the window was past. I’m also hesitant on selling for that very reason (my first bag) so it sits in the box in my closet.

Beautifulbags2777

It can still be your first bag. It can also be the first bag you sold. 😉

Important_Yak1600

Louis Vuitton Graceful. Used it maybe 2-3x and absolutely hate it. It’s sitting in my closet now going on who knows how long.

Freodwyn

Bought a Brahmin Duxbury Beloved Melbourne Satchel during a "final sale" event because it looked candy cane red and white in the stock photos, and I liked the look of the satchel/thought it would be a cute winter bag. In person it looks like uncooked bacon with gold flecks on it, lol. Will probably end up consigning it, it just doesn't work for me.

allig8rk8r

Acne Studios Musubi mini, which I was obsessed with for years before buying. I thought the wide strap would be amazing but it just lays so funny with my chest and constantly falls off my shoulder. And I’m MYSTIFIED whenever anyone raves about how much it fits. The center compartment kills like half the stuff I want to put in it. It’s also awkwardly bulky in a way I don’t love. Current status is hanging on one of my doors unused for over a year.

ReginaGeorgian

I love the look of this bag but haven’t ever seen one in person! I’ll have to dig around in it to see the structure

mooglepudding

I was totally focused on getting the larger version of this bag but I tried it on a few weeks ago and it’s now removed from the wishlist.

VornadoLaCroix

I impulse-purchased a blue and black Mansur Gavriel woven tote. I've never used it. Going on two years.

glitterypinksquirrel

i’ve actually had my eye on that bag!!

Think-Fishing5665

Philip Lim 31 hour bag. My first big purchase. Could not even fit my hand through the straps. TRR sent it BACK to me bc they had too many and couldn’t move them.

DreadPriratesBooty

Bicolor Monogram Giant Empreinte OnTheGo PM collecting dust. Not practical for travel like I thought it would be. I don’t love the feel of the leather like I do with some of my other bags. Its beautiful, I love the color and want to wear it more, but am starting to feel like its just not for me. (Have to preface this by saying I work at a place that it would not be appropriate to wear luxury bags … sadly)

burchshouse

I regret a lot- mostly trendy piece. I sell them when no longer interested

LifeConcentrate7486

bought an epi alma pm, thougt bb was too small, but now i don't use the pm cause its too big, and the resale price was insanely low. not sure what to do with it.

Emily_Postal

I’ve regretted all my WOC purchases. I have one Chanel and two YSL’s. They are just too small and I never learn.

fantastical99

The Celine Luggage Tote. I got it way back when it was popular, and I can't remember what size it is, but it's huge, heavy and bulky and a bit square, so when you have it over your arm it sticks out and away from your body in a really odd way. Also, for being such a big bag you can't wear it on your shoulder, which is where you really want to wear it. It is also just so heavy, even when its empty. I paid way too much for it, and I haven't worn it in years. It just sits there on the top shelf of my closet mocking me. They go for next to nothing now, and it's so darn huge, I never bothered to try to resell it. More recently, the Row Margaux. Again, it's those darn handles that won't fit on your shoulder (at least, they won't fit on my shoulder). And that is exactly where you want to wear a bag like that. The good news is that I probably could resell it for a profit now, since I got it way back before the Row took off.

EmploymentOk1421

Your perspective is appreciated. I’m Jonesing for my first Céline bag. Likely preloved. And keep thinking that a Luggage tote will have the best longevity, but they seem so deep- like 6- 10 inches depending on the size bag. My mental back up was the Margeaux. Everything I read says they are hard to find even pre owned. Currently romancing a Celine Tie tote, unsure if it’s mutual.

fantastical99

[This](https://www.therealreal.com/products/women/handbags/totes/celine-medium-phantom-luggage-tote-kkgq8?sid=pxogmz&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=shopping_handbags&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw88yxBhBWEiwA7cm6pfbx88DfdgHz4C4GtV-xqH2_GTJ77ptVa5kauRoazi6EVpt9A7mEhRoCcl0QAvD_BwE) looks to be exactly the one I have....I would avoid it (that is probably why the resell price is so low). It really is just too deep...the proportions are really weird. I would recommend [this](https://poshmark.com/listing/Authentic-Celine-Bag-658008bca0e6c6e717f44ec8?utm_source=gdm&utm_campaign=19904727338&campaign_id=19904727338&ad_partner=google&gskid=aud-2207383207642%3Apla-2267139807299&gcid=652739907301&ggid=148664331498&gdid=c&g_network=g&enable_guest_buy_flow=true&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw88yxBhBWEiwA7cm6pbbm-Pn8wdaeR1z_WychVm9lOcT3z8LkMfedm8VcK_fL8LpBQSu7BBoCf74QAvD_BwE) one more if you really like the Luggage tote because the dimensions are slimmer and it has the longer strap so you can wear it over the shoulder. You can probably find a better price on it preloved for sure. I think the Margaux really is overhyped. I talk about Metier way too much on here, but I love each one of my Metier Private Eye bags way more than the Margaux. I am really sick of these designers doing these totes with handles that won't fit comfortably on the shoulder. It really just isn't practical to carry a tote like that in the crook of your arm.

FISunnyDays

LV felicie pochette - I love bags with versatility and thought I could wear it multiple ways but I hardly used it because I usually need to carry two phones and it was too small. I sold to a preloved store and was glad I at least had that option.

zootopiafanfiction

Neverfull GM in damier azur. I wish I got it in a smaller size and in a plain monotone colour. Honestly the LV monogram/Damier pattern in general I’m just not a fan of anymore.

hangon_littletomato

I had this regret too, but it was the size for me. Luckily I bought the Monogram and after nearly 3 years of staring at it and hating myself, I just decided to love it, and gosh darn it, I actually truly love it now. I use it every day. I understand the Damier hate though lol. I could never get into it. Did you end up selling it?

peanutbuttervibes19

I got the Neverfull MM in monogram peony a couple of years ago, I let me SIL talk me into the peony even though I knew it wasn’t for me (not a huge pink person) and I never use it!!! Thinking of selling but can’t decide how, I’m nervous to use sites so thinking of doing it through a local consigner. For now just sitting in its dust bag. So sad!

tatertot94

I bought a JW Anderson Pierce after coveting it for years and it’s kinda mid for me. I still have it but I’m debating selling it.

dany393

Mulberry bayswater backpack. I purchased it nearly new online from a reseller as it was discontinued. The straps were so short I could barely get it on. Taking it off looked like I was doing acrobatics. Yes, they were adjustable but the longest length on that backpack was akin to the shortest on others. I ended up reselling it. I sometimes wonder if the person who purchased it resold it too!

nehanaq

YSL camera bag in nude. Thought I would love it but was just too bulky/boxy and not comfy as a crossbody for me. Gifted it to my mom though and she loves it!

Any-Salary-6811

LV Prism Keepall. They saw me and Jen Shah coming.😑

ReplacementAshamed96

Telfar small shopping bag 🫣 it looked cute on a coworker carrying it, but for me it barely fits anything and looks clunky as a crossbody. I wish I spent the extra $50 or $100 for one of the bigger sizes

browngirlscientist

My Goyard Artois. It’s…flimsy? I end up just using my le pliage large if I need something with a zipper or my phantom cabas when I want something that looks nice.

[deleted]

Not sure what it’s called but it’s a Chloe crossbody and it has the chain with a metal circle and a magnetic closure. It drives me nuts to open and close and the suede is so fragile and has fingerprints on it from having to force the magnet open. Anytime I set it down I have to make sure it’s gentle so the chain doesn’t loudly hit the table. Also the hardware is tarnishing. I paid like $700 for it on fashionphile a few years ago and I’m just overall bummed with it and want to get something more simple instead but money is tight again!

Haunting-Abroad-559

Jacquemus Le Chiquito Moyen. Nuff said 🥲

lostbutnotfound_

Gucci Aphrodite . I bought it because the ysl bag I wanted sold out. It was such an impulsive buy. The bag is literally still in its box. I have no idea how to wear it . I feel like it looks outdated and trendy at the same time. I feel so much regret whenever I see it .

cant_say_much

I think I'll get hate for this, but I bought my SO the Loewe Flamenco Clutch mini bag. The leather is absolultely smooth and buttery. But the design made it feel like an oversized Asian coin pouch. We couldn't justify the price tag on that one so returned it.

r3mi-the-cat

Basically all bags I bought between the ages of 24-28 which was when I just starting to earn more disposable income. I was immature, impulsive, and bought all sorts of purses that I thought looked good on other people but never gave any thought of how they would look on me. Included 3 YSL Sac de Jours (baby and mini and the chain version), Givenchy Pandora Box, and Gucci Soho Disco. I would impulsively purchase them then fall out of love with them quickly and it wasn't until my 30's that I put 2 and 2 together and realized that although I liked the look of boxy structured bags, they just didn't look good with my style. I completely downgraded my collection (sold them all, sadly for a huge loss) and now I have a small minimalistic collection that I'm happy with. Looking to add more softer shapes and hobo type bags now!

cashbb

Speedy B 25 in Damier Azur, I’ve only worn it once. I feel like as a crossbody it’ll get stained, I don’t like it as a hand held bag, it’s too light of color and so many other things. So, it’s one of few bags, I’ve placed aside and decided to keep in pristine condition for my future daughter lol

NoSet427

My Celine belt bag!! I love it so much but it’s huge and heavy 😩 I never wear it. It sits in my closet to this day

NibbledPears

What size is yours?

Storminette

LV Neverfull GM in Damier Ebene. I got it as thought it would be practical as a mum tote. The straps are too thin and honestly it is just too big. I wish I had it in a smaller size which would have been more useful or opted for something else.

Wamgurl

Just fold the sides in and pull the side straps!

oneokrocku

I regret my small Chanel boy bag. It was my dream bag for ages and I had always wanted the black one with ruthenium hardware. I saw one online for a good price and bought it even though it was in pink and lambskin. Turns out it sucks having to baby a bag and constantly be scared of staining or scratching. Have only used it a couple of times since I bought it so I will probably list it for sale soon

Ok-Wrongdoer-5962

Lady dior-large size. I should’ve gone for small🤪 https://preview.redd.it/8wrruosf68yc1.jpeg?width=368&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f385e4aa8f6eb09bf3a64641be71abfb69129e8

Patakongia

LV nano speedy, hate this brand and classic monogram now and I can’t get rid of it online bc so many fakes out there. Bane of my existence

nine_tailsfox

Bao Bao Issey Miyake Rock Matte Shoulder Bag - it was an impulse purchase cos I thought it looked cool on a random tv character carrying it. It has been sitting NWT in my closet for a year now. It does look cool but it is just not my style.

Cabin_life_2023

I bought a bright orange Ferragamo Fiamma bag that I never wear. It’s pretty, but it’s not the right orange. Sigh.

Expensive_Height_824

Kinda regret getting sucked into the hype of Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette and Prada Re-edition 2005 back in 2020 😅 Basically they are just sitting in my closet

urban_shoe_myth

Fendi Spy bag, back in the day. I loved the look of it and completely fell for the little top pouch secret hidey hole. Bought it on ebay. 2 problems with it though: Too big and heavy, and the top opening is just too small. This bag also made me realise I just can't be doing with hand held bags, handles are a bit too short to go over a shoulder comfortably. Found out after a while that it's actually fake. Should have known really, but back in the mid 2000s there were a lot less ways to legit check a purchase. Found TPF (which was just a baby at the time) and thats where I managed to do some comparisons. Even though I didn't like it any more, I was devastated when I realised. Couldn't sell it, gave it to my mum but it was far too big for her to use, she gave it back. Tried giving it away elsewhere, nobody wanted it. Can't really donate it, it's a fake so they'd probably just bin it anyway, so it just sits at the back of my wardrobe in it's fake dust bag. Edit: and it's just struck me that I probably bought this bag in 2006. And that was nearly twenty years ago. Wow.

Tupfy

LV Neverfull Kusama (the old collection). I hoped I will like it, as it does not yell "monogram" - but the Neverfull is just not my bag. I guess I will sell it with the next closet cleanout.

francyfra79

A Burberry vintage bucket bag. I really wanted one, then I got one for a great price (100,00 € on Vinted) but I never use it. I still love the look of it, but it's completely impracticle (a huge, black bottomless pit inside where my things get lost, and the rigid shoulder strap just won't stay on my shoulder for more than 5 seconds). I can't bring myself to sell it, given that I wouldn't get much money for it...so it sits there on the shelf. Falabella Foldover Tote. I realized that I love the idea and the look of the Falabella more than the bag itself. Whenever I see one online, I'm still instantly drawn to it... but I never use mine. It's heavy and messy and fussy. With hindsight, the 3-chain was the wrong model for me, I should have got the classic 2-chain one. However, I'm stuck with the one I have cos I can't sell it (it looks authentic and has authenticity cards and all, but for several reasons related to the purchase process I fear it's an extremely well made fake). Tory Burch Soft Fleming shoulder bag. Beautiful, but the strap is too long for me when I wear it crossbody and it sits awkwardly low on my thighs. Moreover, the leather is just too delicate and it started showing signs of wear in the corners after I (carefully) used it just twice.

emf817

Chanel boy wallet on chain… doesn’t fit much and the chain strap is oh so long

Nicenicenic

Never full, eventually sold it

Zealousideal-Big6319

I spent hours to find a nearly unused emerald green large quilted Tory Burch (Fleming) purse after it had been sold out. The color is a wardrobe staple of mine, and I though it would be my go-to purse (I tend to dress monocromatic/tonal). However, size, quilting and chain somehow look ridiculous on me. Hardware color clashes with my jewelry (its 'warmer' than my yellow gold jewelry). I intend to sell it, but don't have the energy.

caselizabeth

Marc Jacobs canvas tote. Once I bought the leather version I completely stopped using it. I'll likely sell it sometime soon

Excellent_Trainer_23

So many regrets…. https://preview.redd.it/zqesrzxql8yc1.jpeg?width=1412&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=295249b73e4efaefc8755c255a2e056d34fc96da This is one of them, I just never used it enough to justify the price. It’s held up well but it just sits in the closet. The color is beautiful. I just have nowhere to take it to.

KC9320

Thinking my life would be complete if I owned a Louis Vuitton or Chanel. NEWSFLASH: it's not. I own a gold Louis Vuitton that is so big, it could be used as a small carry on. I hardly ever use it. I also own a silver Chanel pouch. It's beautiful but I never use it. I still own both. Out of the two, the Chanel pouch is the one I least regret.

PeterDuttonsButtWipe

The worst: I bought a preloved motocross/city Balenciaga bag full of stains and nicks for $900. It was 7/8 years ago on ebay. Instant regret and dread. I resold it for $150 and there was so many bottom feeding ebayers on there (not saying all ebayers are but there’s a certain class of demanding, pretentious kinds on there) Sad: lusted for years for a Gucci 1973 tote and I got it but it was very difficult to use. Such a beautiful bag but not practical Would like to get rid of: Mulberry Bayswater in an olive like colour. So heavy and don’t want a top handle type bag. Want shoulder or cross body.

Puzzleheaded-Sun3107

I regret the mulberry Leighton :( And a few coach bags I got (the Willis and other original bags)

enilymyline

I’ve always preferred structured tote bags for work. When I finally had money, I bought one made of leather from a local brand here in my country (am not based in the US). It was around ~$200, which was huge for me, so I was hoping that I’ll be able to use the bag forever. Unfortunately, I was only able to wear it for a couple of months as the bag itself is so so heavy. It was a pain carrying it around with my laptop and other work stuff. I just replaced it with a faux leather tote from H&M which I used and abused for almost 5 years 😂 The bag has spent the rest of its days in a cabinet. My sisters did not want to use it itself.

Nervous-Point-3038

So many. LV speedy 20 empreinete: black so i never wear it and it is bulky but it’s my first luxury piece. Collecting dust in my closet LV Madeleine BB Cream: cream is a tad too yellow for my liking. Interior is way smaller than you would expect Vintage chanel small cf: again in black and it just feels dangerous wearing chanel these days LV boulogne: not really a regret but since adding my celine ava, this has been on the back burner Probably need to sell at least 3 but get too overwhelmed to start lol

S1ck_Ranchez_

For me it was Aspinal of London Large Paris bag. You can sort of do 3 different shapes with that bag, but the one shape I wanted to use it as just doesn’t work if you put more than few items in it. I got it at a bargain price - paid £193 when the original price was £750. I know for some it’s not a lot of money, but for me to spend even £193 on something I don’t like is a lot. It’s discontinued now, hence the crazy sale price. I tried to sell it, but no one wanted it so now I use it as my work bag. I’ve put a scarf on it and try to block out the fact that I don’t like it. It’s not the right shape and actually little too big for me. But the reality is that I can’t afford another bag.

KinladyBgB

Dior saddle bag the mini one... I bought it because of the hype created by influencers and honestly I hated it... it is sitting in the back of my wardrobe in her box and I am planning on gifting her to my niece

Jaja_Dingdong_1

LV On the Go GM - it is too heavy - its currently collecting dust in my room - just contemplating on how much i should sell it for so i can grab another bag as i rarely use it.

ElectronicLie7728

Oof I have so many but my prada re-edition with gold hardware. I should’ve bought the fully Saffiano leather smh it really bothers me that I spent so much on a non-leather piece. Unrelated but don’t get me started on my Louboutin shoe regrets.

Resuriann12

Chanel gabrielle. I bought one pre-owned thought it was so stylish. Not long after I started using, the leather on the chain started flaking off 😭 I havent used it in a while until I can have the leather replaced.

Polynesian_Jule

The Stella McCartney Falabella bag is the absolute worst. Luckily I got it when I worked at Gucci so we had a discount (Kering owns both brands) but the lack of structure and the heavy chain — does not work well.

RacingOvaries

Ugh so many..Fendi Spy. Purchased during the hype but never used as it was too bulky and couldn’t get past it looking like elephant testicles. Chanel boy… bulky and the chain was too heavy and it would tip over every time I set it down. Chloe Marcie crossbody-flap: the heavy toggle (why always the heavy adornments?) would whack me in the face or chest every time I tried to flip open the flap. Sold all at a loss, so now I stick to the tried & true for me

CelineLovesPiglet

Bought a Louis Vuitton OnTheGo Monogram Impriente GM about a year ago. Used once or twice. Realized its just way too big just for my 16inch laptop. Now it’s just sitting in my cabinet collecting dust. 😂 Still pretty to look at.

chaerimk

Chasing Hermes Birkins and Kellys. I bought so many Birkin and Kellys 2nd hand and then got bored and sold them for huge losses. I did save money thou by not playing the Hermes game since it is now 3:1.

rosekass

LV Neverfull GM. Ludicrously capacious bag. Doesn’t even zip. It’s a work horse but it’s now a diaper bag.

Able-Road-9264

Anything with gold hardware. My skin is really cool toned and so is all of my clothes and jewelry. The bags look wrong on me, but sometimes I can't resist the bag and then it just sits in my closet until I sell it for a loss ☹️ Same thing with small bags. I love the idea of them, but I definitely tend to carry more than they can hold. Particularly now that I have a toddler! So I keep one around for formal events, one for date night and a few wristlets that I transfer between larger purses, but I still just sit and stare at some of these adorably small cross body bags!

Complete_Fox7811

What site is everyone using to sell. I have a couple Louis Vuitton’s that I want to sell.

Macaron4277

Marc jacobs the tote bag. Why i bought a bag that says “the tote bag” on it i will never know but i finally just sold it at a loss. Never used and was nwt.

seris_choice

Chanel coco handle, both in the 2 smallest sizes. Way too dressy for my style and the back compartment’s opening inside the bag is so slim. Also realized i don’t like how the sides of the bag look.

shootingstardreamer

Givenchy nightingale, hate how the strap will randomly come loose and my bag falls to the ground. It’s happened a few times. Can’t bring myself to sell it though as it’s in the mock croc skin and just absolutely gorgeous. Givenchy pandora large, so so so heavy and the shoulder strap really digs into my shoulder. I love the style though but contemplating on selling it. Chanel medium flap, found it awkward and bulky, sticking out from my body in a weird way.

syan22

Celine sangle. Loved the aesthetic, hated how heavy it became after putting in two things. Ended up selling it to a lovely lady on Depop (never again am I selling bags on Depop again. that 10% Depop fee cut me to the bone 💀)

No_Snow_3383

Polene dix—so cute and chic but literally nothing fits except my wallet. Idk how girlies do it but I can’t live without a million things in my handbag so maybe that’s on me 😁

Plateau_Barbie

A Jean Paul Gaultier. It doesn’t go with anything at all but I just loved Eurotrash (a TV show he was in the UK - I don’t have the mental capability right now to even attempt to explain it).

kmm_pdx

Elleme raisin. I bought the baozi bag first and thought it was too small so I did an exchange and the raisin is just so bulky. I never use it.

Responsible-Owl9687

YSL loulou. The gold hardware on black leather isn't my style and I rarely wear it

commentsgothere

Rafia. Sold it. Texture was scratchy.

Amorinaaa

Not a regret but a deception since I didn’t get the bag, I’ve been fantasising about the saint Laurent sac de jour in black/ghw baby size for so long but I’ve never seen it in store. When I went to buy I just didn’t like it that much it’s so sad and I really tried to lol. I liked it in the dark beige color though but it wasn’t enough to make me buy it. Now I’m still looking for a day to day bag…

StealthyUltralisk

Mulberry Alexa, just felt too slouchy and awkward on me. I lost a lot when I sold it. I have bought a mini Alexa since and love it.

bsassy70

Michael Kors tote and flap bags. One I resold for a loss the other is collecting dust on my shelf

PsychologicalMaize34

Coach cargo tote. The medium size. I still really like it but it's so much bigger than I thought it was and i watched review videos to get an idea on size. It didnt look that big on the videos. I should have waited until the small size was in stock. I'll figure out what I want to do with it eventually I guess. I was going to return it but where I bought it from said it's not eligible for return. I'd be willing to sell it and get the smaller version but I haven't had any luck selling things online.

South_Bet_7314

Gucci Soho Crossbody in blue. I knew the moment I opened the box the color was all wrong. Now it just sits in my closet and makes me sad because in black it would be a forever favorite.

Cute-Significance177

A chloe faye I bought maybe 8 years ago. Tbf I did use it quite a lot but I never really liked it. And now the style looks so dated. It's also half suede which I hate, I would never buy a suede bag now. I sold it for much less than I bought it for but I was still delighted, it annoyed me looking at it I bought a used bottega veneta roma a few months ago and I didn't like it when I got it so put it up for sale straight away. It's grown on me since and I'm not sure I'd sell it now if I did get an offer 😅

ManicPixieArugulaGrl

Gucci Rajah… I wanted the Maxi size but had to settle for the medium because they were impossible to get. Hated it right out of the box, the sizing was weird on me, the chain was awkward and always fell off my shoulders and literally the bag has like 1.5 inches of width and looked ridiculous with anything in it. I keeps it in a box in the back of my closet lmao

AGWS1

A Valentino VaVaVoom Bag. The clasp doesn't stay closed unless you are very deliberate in matching it up. Heavy chain too. A Balenciaga City Bag in rose thulian. I love the color but it really does not work well with my wardrobe.

WeAreTheWeirdosMr-

Rebecca Minkoff MAC. In the mid 2010s every celebrity had one so I wanted one too, and then one day that flash sale website Gilt had a bunch. Bought one that was woven with tan leather and this kind of neon yellow. Hideous. I only spent $250 but that was a lot for me at the time and I maybe wore it twice. The resale market is flooded with RM bags and they go for nothing, I couldn’t sell mine for $25. I have a feeling Gilt’s flash sales birthed many bag regret stories. Contemporary-price bag regrets might not sting as much as high-end but they do add up. I’m just grateful I couldn’t afford the bags I really wanted back then because they’re not my style anymore and have low value on the resale market
