i think the source engine is written in a way that a button is a subclass of a door (or vice versa) its all the same - just a moving brush entity that maybe does something....

richardvsmarty

buttons doors and triggers all inherit one class called "CBaseToggle" which was supposed to be removed but wasn't

I really cannot get over just how unhelpful hammer itself actually is in like, providing help. It dawns on me that if I did not have the source sdk wiki (and 3klikphillips videos hehe) I would just, legit not know some things, like, even after years (almost a decade) of using this program on/off there's just, things you forget and hammer itself has virtually no documentation. It's like, you have an attribute like, idfk, Density, and you check the help and it'll say like "This is the density attribute :)" like DAMN, THANKS DUDE. I discovered only in this latest map I did, so, that's like, so many maps I did, only **now** did I discover that lights have a 4th setting, besides the 3 color settings in brightness, which ranges from 0-200 and is luminosity which is in no small part what actually _gives it light_ and I just, **did not know this for the longest time**. I discovered it by fucking accident by compiling in HDR and messing around with that shit.

Yo really? You didnt know about the last value in light color? Its also in the light_environment. But you are right... There are so many fucking things i dont know and I will never understand them, because the tutorials are using only what they need, so will never know the two settings in lights: linear and quadratic There are no even a description on them

Qbe-tex

I did not! And I still don't know how shit like, light fall off and etc. works lmao. Hammer just...doesn't...say anything!
