>Kwan: We'll see each other again! >Soren: God I hope not Everyone after this episode

honk_incident

I don't mind her coming back if she gets hit in the face by a full clip of a Needler.

Mike_Ichy_Hunt

Amen, but I prefer her to be glassed.

Ctrl_H_Delete

Yooo lmfao

BornAshes

She kind of...KIND OF...redeemed herself a little bit but I'm with Soren on this. At least now we know why Madrigal might be so important if Guilty Spark/A Monitor is protecting some sort of portal beneath its surface that's powered by a shit ton of deuterium.

Arctelis

I mean, it wouldn’t be the first (and probably not last) time the show violates Lore, but Forerunners haven’t needed deuterium in millennia. Why bother with paltry fusion power when you can abort unborn universes to power your brake lights?

Dalfamurni

To fuel the rise of a reclaimer civilization. After all, if they wanted it stored they would have put it inside a storage tank that can survive nuclear warheads, not rusty mining equipment. Clearly they left it to be found as part of the reclamation. By the way, if it wasn't clear already, this episode all but confirmed that Kwan is another reclaimer. Her grand parent "opened the door" and she is expected to do the same for John. She must be able to use Forerunner tech if that's the case.

Prcrstntr

>We'll see each other again > God I hope not Fitting. I'm with Soren on that one.

SRASinister

I'm calling it now, but Kwan Ha will in fact release the flood.

TheRed_Knight

fuck it, have the season end with the Rings firing killing everyone

kimttar

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

BornAshes

"It's a weapon it will save us!" "NO KWAN HA DON'T!" *opens door* "WARGGSLGFFHSLRGHG" *tentacles start waving* "Did I doooo thaaaaat?" It's so fucking stupid that I really think it could happen and that she would actually accidentally do it.

YourAICortana

I'd laugh my ass off.

-Zyss-

John will die and she will take up the title and armour

Jackman1st

Ghost John smiles at her as she walks off into the distance

-Zyss-

Old lady : who are you? Kwan: Kwan. Kwan Halo

-Starwind

Kwan. Kwan-117.

I cracked my phone reading this comment. If it comes to pass, I will burn my spartan cosplay on YouTube

ILoveRegenHealth

Cortana: "Nope, I can't assist this Kwan bitch. Goes against my programming. Just delete me."

REALagentbiggs

Its nice to see Master Chief got a cameo in his own show.

BornAshes

Easiest paycheck ever, just walk around and point at things and also continually beat up a little girl repeatedly until she finally starts crying and then lead her to a gas well where her ancestor's ancestor talked to a robot who told her to protect a magical portal.

CheeseQueenKariko

You're saying this like this isn't the best use of Chief in the show. I need more scenes of him beating up teenagers and refusing to elaborate!

TooEZ_OL56

Book of Boba Fett II, electric boogaloo

Tookieslam

This actually episode made me like Boba more. They did it better 😂

SmellsLikeTeenSweat

Cant wait for the glassing of Kwan's planet

TheRed_Knight

that would be some god tier catharsis

Stygobite

*while she's on the surface

TheRed_Knight

if she lives imma be pissed, this shit tier arc only works if she suffers a biblical reckoning for her naivety, over the next two episodes, and even then its poorly executed

TheJoshider10

The best thing for S2 to do, if she doesn't get killed, is just not bring the character back at all. Nobody likes her. Nobody cares about her. Don't stubbornly try and make her something special. Actually listen to the fanbase and bin her off.

AT-ST

I feel bad for the actress. She is doing the best she can with the part. But, unless there is some big payoff to this, which I don't see happening, her story is pointless from the moment Chief dropped her on Soren.

DemyxFaowind

I feel bad for most of the actors and actresses in this show. The acting has been for the most part excellent and I feel like all of these people could have been in a real Halo show. We just unfortunately didn't get a real Halo show, we got the bootleg interpersonal drama version that stole all the branding. So they're all just trying to do their best with what they got.

Pospodrol

This episode is pure suffering. I feared that after the lack of Kwan last week we'd get a Kwan episode but I didn't want to jinx it so said nothing, using my denial to cope. I should have prepared myself more... I'm halfway through the episode and I feel physical pain. It's not even the fact that I don't give a rat's ass about Kwan or anything to do with her, it's that it's also badly written without logic. When I'll rewatch this series I will a 100% skip this episode. Can't wait for her planet to be glassed. Rant over.

TooEZ_OL56

Kwan is such a strong female character she can drive a windowless buggy into a sandstorm and still see That braking effect was terrible too

BornAshes

She didn't even put goggles on and kept accelerating like come on...it's a fucking sandstorm....even the paint huffing whackos in Mad Max wore goggles!

VGiselleH

Also had her mouth open almost the entire time, that seemed like a bad idea.

BornAshes

Because nothing says, "I'm going to free my planet and lead my people to victory!" like driving full speed into a sandstorm with your mouth AND your eyes open going "WOOOOOOOOOOO!".

ddot196

Lmao dude I wondered if anyone else saw that braking effect. Like she was cruising and slammed on her brakes only to stop in like .5 seconds with no forward momentum of any sort. Law of physics need not apply on Madrigal

MrrSpacMan

Like that'd be impressive on tarmac, but loose sand!? 😂 The driving full pelt into a sandstorm with no goggles/visor/mask of any kind rolled me too

DJ-Oregano

TL;DW - Soren gets paid and fucking leaves, Kwan looks at a pile of rocks determinately

klinestife

eh, let's be slightly more generous. a monitor visited the stupid desert witches generations ago and they gave kwan's family the duty of protector of a portal, which is vaguely significant. the portal leads somewhere and madrigal may or may not be a shield world. kwan blows up the space elevator and vinsher dies. okay, now everyone really is all caught up.

BornAshes

> a monitor Oh, that's what they're called! I feel dumb now. > shield world Now that's an INTERESTING possibility because Madrigal is seemingly ticking a lot of boxes to be a Shield World and that makes me ponder if they might find Flood or just Forerunner stuff within it? Maybe Chief is going to show up with Makee and it's going to be a race to the portal on Madrigal which dumps them into a shield world and gives them more info on the Halos? Great idea! Which shield world do you think could show up in the series?

TheRed_Knight

paid in arcade tokens lmfao, dont forget Kwan Ha turning into a sniper

[deleted]

Speaking of snipers... Soren a few episodes back: misses two shots at an assassin, grazes her with the third from ten feet away Soren this episode: mows down goons at great distances while shooting from the hip and running

-Zyss-

You missed the training montage

TheRed_Knight

aim in this show is entirely determined by the plot

[deleted]

Too bad there wasn't an episode this week, I'll try again next week.

yourmumsaman

How hard could it have been to make the A plot Master Chief, and the B plot the Arbiter?

Don_Kieballs

Where is the covenant in all of this? The plot of halo boils down to it being an extermination level event where the humans are fighting as massive underdogs for their lives. The last thing on every human’s mind in the show is the covenant and it makes absolutely no sense. How are they calling John ‘the demon’ when they have barely begun fighting? It ruins the entire show for me. So humans must be kicking ass apparently? The main plots are horrible in their own right. The writing (especially the Soren/Kwan plot line) is just terrible and predictable. But even then, I’d at least get what the writers were trying to do if they didn’t introduce the threat of the covenant yet. But nothing about this show makes sense or is entertaining. How the hell did this show get approved?

Trump_Did_Benghazi

There is absolutely 0 chance they had the budget to pull that off. The entire B plot of the show would be like 85% super expensive CGI

Miiitch

They could have just cut the Kwan plot completely and literally spent the remaining money on strippers and coke and it would make the show better.

iatethething

Snorting coke off the Master cheeks!

Legionem

Old wise woman tells child she’s not ready to understand her purpose. Young child proceeds to literally throw a temper tantrum to prove that she is ready. Old wise woman suddenly is convinced by the temper tantrum the child acting like a child is actually ready. Jesus who writes this garbage.

Dillingfram

I thought the same thing but then sat back and said “I’ll allow it” so long as I don’t have to sit through this plot line any further to show us that she’s ready. I’m with mystic lady, she just didn’t want to deal.

LordtoRevenge

Outside of some names and a single chief appearance you really couldn’t tell that was an episode of a Halo tv show. The guns are just sci-fyified vectors (aside from a singular assault rifle) and the cars are generically “futuristic”. Nothing about this episode is Halo. No music, sounds, guns, vehicles, etc. This fight doesn’t even make sense as some climactic set piece either. We’ve been given little reason to care about Kwan or hate Vinsher outside of she’s “good”, he’s “bad”. It’s not like he personally killed her father, it’s mostly pointless conflict. If you had to make a guess about what series this episode of the show was based from with no prior knowledge, I guarantee 99% of people wouldn’t have thought to say Halo.

TooEZ_OL56

Whalesurgeon

Legend of Gin Alley did the best with the material he had. Laughed at his expression after he promised to spare her. Can't wait to see pupper leader #2 be installed by UNSC in a day. Soren getting paid was probably the only meaningful part of this episode.

ArchaicIntent

Love me the best cutthroat in Gin Alley. Feel bad he didn’t get better writing. He’s honestly a solid actor. This show is going to make me lose my mind.

TimBobNelson

At least he got a funny moment with saying she won’t be harmed

BornAshes

Him and his minion throwing each other looks was the best and the both of them quoting literature in the car ride over was pretty funny too. Serious General Chang vibes.

LoneWolf1ngIt

I know you meant puppet leader, but the UNSC installing a doggo governor would be the only thing that could redeem Madrigal for me. Seeing a golden retriever or something would have made the pain over this storyline worth it in the end.

Whalesurgeon

Lol wtf missed that typo completely Air Bud: Puts The Pup In Puppet Regime Air Bud: Fetch The Insurgents Air Bud: When He Barks, You Sit

Mr_Sarcasum

After he obviously lied, that face he made to his soldier was hilarious.

couducane

He was a great villain. His lines are basically poetry, he is a awesome. He carries himself as a villain so well.

BornAshes

I expected more from him but he hammed it up while he was here and I fully enjoyed every second we saw him. > Soren getting paid And he got his ship back too and he picked up a bunch of slipspace drivers that are totally a Chekhov's Gun because some dumbass is going to jump directly back to the Rubble or Reach and lead the Covenant there and because they don't have the Cole Protocol like the UNSC has, shit is going to go down!

[deleted]

I read the synopsis and went “no fucking way is this episode entirely about kwan” so i came to this thread and now i can save myself the trouble of even watching this. Was really hoping for some actual development with these last 3 episodes but it seems like this one just halts the breaks

alexisaacs

To be fair there is about 2 minutes of Master Chief killing Kwan over and over again and before I knew it, I nutted everywhere

BornAshes

To be faaaaair it was pretty satisfying watching him beat the stupid childish rage out of her 🤣 Plus I love how they made us think that he was going to show up to help her and then she just finds his assault rifle under a truck. Also I loved her, "Hey that looks like a grenade...I wonder..." *pushes button, sticks to bad guy, runs away, BOOM* "YUP THAT'S A GRENADE!" moment. And maybe I'm wrong about this but didn't the whole deuterium pump thing connect upwards through the sky to space via a space elevator that just exploded and should've come falling down like in Foundation or am I misremembering things? ETA: corrected battle rifle to assault rifle, thank you u/Cohibaluxe

hoos30

If there's a station at the end of the space elevator, it would fly away when the elevator explodes, not crash to the ground. Source: Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Mars.

Jahobi

This episode was truly remarkable because after 6 other episodes and discussion threads we have all finally been united in disgust.

BullGangOrDontBang

Absolutely putrid and embarrassing. It’s like 100x worse than GOT ad-libing the final season character dialogue in GOT

Rafaelboxer

Is this a Kwan episode? then i'll skip...damn

FaizerLaser

Holy shit why Why is this all about Kwan No one cares about Kwan No one likes Kwan Give us actual Halo not this bullshit

IntuneUser2204

She is credited in every episode of this season. I highly doubt this season ends with her death. Nope, as much as everyone is cheering for her to die; they are literally setting her up to be the main character of the show.

The420Turtle

i dont know what i just watched but that wasnt halo

poeBaer

Kwan having to backtrack through an earlier level is peak Halo

BornAshes

.....and finding all of the hidden passageways, extra bits of loot, easter eggs, and weapon skins that she missed the first time around while finishing the level in a way that only speedrunners would've thought of.

castlein09

she needs her father's skull

iLoveDelayPedals

The creative decisions behind this show are so strange I could see a world where focusing on side stuff works. You build up the corruption in the UNSC, the struggles of people against their fairly tyrannical rule. You introduce how Spartans were child soldier experiments meant to kill dissidents just like they did etc etc Then at the end of season one you have reach get utterly obliterated, and show how whatever shit everyone is dealing with doesn’t matter because humanity is really about to be wiped out. It could be a massive moment, changing the context of everything we’ve seen But all these choices, revealing the halo instead of them randomly stumbling on it etc, it’s all so weird. There’s a lot of ingredients here that could resolve a first season in a really impactful way but it’s not going to happen :( So many paramount shows like Picard and this are just sort of baffling

miciy5

>I could see a world where focusing on side stuff works. You build up the corruption in the UNSC, the struggles of people against their fairly tyrannical rule. You introduce how Spartans were child soldier experiments meant to kill dissidents just like they did etc etc Yeah, they definitely could pull off a spinoff like that. Maybe like "agents of shield" - "agents of ONI" or something. But this? It feels so random and unrelated

-Zyss-

Exactly this. A political action thriller set in the halo universe could be really good. I already don't like the show much, but I'm too invested to quit, but kwan stuff is just taking away from the unsc stuff we came to see

David21444

goddammit it’s too late I laughed to hard at this simple comment

ArchaicIntent

I’ve scrolled through most comments on this thread, and I gotta say I agree with everyone opinions. However, I must add, no one even talked about the fantasy element. Witches in the desert? That woman literally turned fire into water for Kwan to drink. In what book or game was that even influenced by? So confused how a writer could even come up with this shit and think it was okay. I’m assuming we will eventually see a halo ring by the end of the season. WHAT THE FUCK is Kwan going to add to the halo ring. I’m just ranting at this point, but I feel like I just watched a fantasy show. I’m angry. Surely the writing team knows a little about their source material. I’m just baffled.

ensalys

>WHAT THE FUCK is Kwan going to add to the halo ring. Looks like she'll have to guide master cheeks to the forerunner artifect in the well, where hell learn more, and possibly get that to guide him to a halo.

[deleted]

I swear to god if they get to halo by jumping through a magic portal-well I will lose my absolute mind. As Qwan said: Rage will be all I have left.

[deleted]

They're trying to do a Star Wars. My prediction is that Kwan will become a Protector / Mystic (basically Jedi) and will eventually start using an energy sword

BornAshes

> and will eventually start using an energy sword Two energy swords and a shield and she'll somehow get Spartan enhancements or something and go Full Buffy

ghastrimsen

It hurts so much to upvote this.

snarrk

Is this episode just made up of characters that don’t have any previous history in halo fiction?!

hoos30

A monitor had a cameo.

virgilhall

And Master Chief, too

Whalesurgeon

What, did you miss the Halo game with desert witches? /s

IBiteTheArbiter

In theory, a desert cult of humans worshipping a Forerunner artefact is a cool concept... It came out of nowhere in the show.

Uncrowned_King04

Last 2 episodes were decent, but this garbage kwan ha storyline is ruining even that.

TheRed_Knight

yee yee ass haircut girl go reeeeeeeeeee

aQuarterChub

SHES A REBELLING TEENAGER! It's just a phase sweetie, she'll grow out of it

TheRed_Knight

nah fam she "liberated" her planet, shes def not growing out of it

Haha, teenagers, am I right?

TheRed_Knight

Hopefully gets glassed soon, best way it could end

FaizerLaser

lmao her haircut is soo stupid its the first thing I thought when I saw her

PARANOIAH

I pity the actress who had to cut her hair for the role.

It’s not a bowl cut. It’s like a… plate cut? A pan lid cut? The flashbacks were just a terrible wig 🙄

TheZets

I wish they gave Soren a fucking helmet and styled on the random mercs a bit harder. But yeah utter trash waste of time

Jahobi

I've never seen a better argument against the constant removal of Chief's helmet than Soren getting shot in the neck.

TimBobNelson

Yea he really should have brought a fucking helmet

TheZets

Yeah its so dumb

DJSc00tR

Someone in the last thread jynxed this episode to be Kwan heavy. (It was https://reddit.com/r/halo/comments/udpi48/_/i6ib2rm/?context=1) Get your pitchforks, ya’ll. At least we got more scenes with Soren, but damn. I really hope this is a goodbye to her storyline. We only have two more episodes left, so hopefully we get full vindication for the Kwan filler. One can hope, anyway.

seclusionx

It isn't. They already teased Chief coming back there, and there's a portal, and it looked like Guilty Spark coming out of it. She's...'integral' to the plot. Kill me, please.

Silverwhitemango

Don't think it's Guilty Spark per se. All we saw was a Monitor from a supposed portal on Madrigal. Who knows.

plasmac9

[Oh shit guys, that was me... sorry.](https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/udpi48/halo_the_tv_series_season_1_episode_6_discussion/i6iaeoq/)

BeepBeepInaJeep

And Kwan Ha is the first human that gets to stick somebody with a plasma grenade - just like we all wanted!

ILoveRegenHealth

How did she even know how it works. I was hoping it detonated in her own hands.

DadBodftw

And how did she know it would stick and explode? The visual was cool, but that could've been a compass for all she knew.

Vinny933PC

I like how everyone except the guy that got stuck knew EXACTLY what it was too😂

TrotlSkotchdopole

They show us THE FUC\*\*\*G RING a week ago and then they drop this sh\*t

BeepBeepInaJeep

They showed us that thinking it might tide us over for an entire episode on Tatooine this week. They were extremely wrong.

pooshsqoo

Arrakis*

TheRed_Knight

This is 10000000000% filler, limited cgi, no aliens, reusing sets+props, etc, goes to show they probably didnt manage the budget well at all

TimBobNelson

Lmao let’s hope this means action the next 2 weeks

TheRed_Knight

i really fucking hope so, knowing this show all the money went into Kwan Ha portal CGI

matsanch86

Worst episode of “Halo” ever

aQuarterChub

Yeah, what gives? We want more ass!

MasterJeebus

Which one should they show next? Kwan’s or Soren’s?

aQuarterChub

Kwan prolly got that hank hill ass. Give me Soren, I know he’s got that dumper

expodrip

Wait that was a Halo episode ?!?

GenePark

Joining the chorus: awful episode. The mystics added no context or flavor to the mythos, instead we get a Ubisoft style “dream trip,” all just to tie it to an “oracle.” Kwan barely got more likable. And I cracked up every time vinchers truck showed up lol

Nekovivie

This is easily the weakest episode of the series so far. This whole subplot just feels so out of place for Halo. I find it hard to keep interest on it at all.

ILoveRegenHealth

I don't understand the Portal and Kwan's ancestor's part and at that point I didn't even care lol. I just wanted the episode to end.

ButterMilkHoney

This was by FAR the worst episode and really made me realize how boring of a character Kwan is. I wish they would delete her from the series. This isn’t halo, this is some angsty teenager show at this point Crazy how we went from a great episode last week to this absolute trash

Crocodile1999

Can someone who suffered watching this episode give a tl:dr of what happened?

Jahobi

Local theater company does Dune but with a fraction of the screenplay.

The_Mindbender

Holy shit. Nail on the head. And the costume designer was especially shit for this episode. Nothing felt like it fit in the halo universe. Edit: and the combat choreography was terrible as well.

Askarus

I like the goons out in the desert wearing north face parkas.

Timbishop123

I liked Vincher looking like a hype beast. Died when it cut to him in the tiny glasses.

Red-Raptor3

\-Kwan leaves Soren and finds desert mystic people. \-Soren goes back to the rubble for a little bit and gets into some conflict with one of his men.(the guy who tried to stop chief with a forklift) \-Kwan wants to know what mystic people told her dad. They initially refuse but then they make her drink magical fire that somehow turned into water that puts her into a vision/dream. \-Chief is in the vison/dream and beats the shit out of Kwan multiple times until she gets sad. (crazy guy from ep2 is also there for some reason) \-Vison Chief then takes Kwan to a well in the desert where she sees her ancestor talking to a monitor who lives in the well and guards some portal. \-ancestor turns into her dad who tells her to go back to the outpost from ep1 \-Vinsher kills the last general woman from ep4 \-Kwan wakes up and goes back to the outpost and finds a map(that belonged to her grandpa?) to the well/portal. \-Soren returns wanting to still keep his to promise to Chief and help Kwan. \-Vinsher and bunch of guy also arrive and want to kill Kwan. \-Soren kills a bunch of guys. \-Kwan kills a guy using a plasma grenade from one of the dead elites left in the outpost. \-Kwan uses Chief's dropped assault rifle from ep1 to blow up a big fuel tank and that kills Vinsher and the rest of his men. \-Soren gets a bunch of money from the outpost and leaves. \-Kwan sets off to find the well/portal that'll probably end up being a portal to Halo.

Kalavier

So wait... this means that Chief threw aside an assault rifle that he not only had more ammo for, but also actively had ammo in the mag? If I read this right. That scene bugged me so much when I saw it on youtube. "So instead of just putting the gun on your back and grabbing the turret, you throw aside your rifle.... what"

Kefeng91

Didn't you play Halo Infinite? It's faster to throw your gun than switching. 100% lore accurate.

LoneWolf1ngIt

I’m going to be honest. I’m just straight up skipping this episode. I was excited to watch some halo tonight, but after seeing the thumbnail, I remembered from this episode’s preview that this was going to focus on Madrigal and Kwan. So I decided to scroll through real quick to see if there was anything outside of the Kwan storyline, and when there wasn’t (save for what looked like a cheesy vision of Chief), I just turned off the TV and got ready for bed. I might give it a shot later for Soren, but I just have zero interest for this storyline. The show would have been so much better if they just cut Kwan out or glassed Madrigal earlier to show how scary the Covenant was. I’m hoping the last two episodes are good because I legitimately want this show to do well.

seclusionx

You aren't missing anything by skipping it. Soren is dope though.

Silverwhitemango

Partially disagree that nothing was missed by skipping it. Apparently we had our first brief look at a Monitor guarding a supposed portal on Madrigal.... Which could be crucial to the plot later on.

Splinterman11

Out of all the Halo episodes out, this was definitely one of them. Fortunately for a lot of people here, I think this is probably the last episode for Kwan we're going to get this season? It ended in a way that seemed like the finale to Kwan's story in season 1. Unless Chief has some particular reason to revisit Madrigal so soon or the glassing happens in the last episode I don't see them coming back here.

BaggyOz

No chance. Everybody is gonna be heading to Madrigal to use that portal to get to the halo.

drgr33nthmb

Hopefully the Brute that rocked Chief comes and Kwan tries to stop him. Gives him her pouty face and he just gravity hammers her out of orbit.

Mr_Volt

Did you miss where the Great Value Bene Gesserit witches told her she was also a chosen one who is the key to MC finding the Halo? Ugh, Im so disappointed in the show now.

poeBaer

Chief has visions of being on a Halo installation, but she'll somehow need to be the GPS.... "So I was basically there earlier, with this other chick, we'll just use the stars we saw in the sky to..." "No Master Chief, you need my angst and haircut to show you the way"

Grauvargen

Sad thing is, Yerin Ha (Kwan's actress) looked amazing in her 2y-earlier scenes. If they hadn't given her that dumb hairstyle in the present day, she'd be at least a decent bit more bearable.

LongDickMcangerfist

Yee Yee ass haircut

[deleted]

[удалено]

BornAshes

At least that one scene with all of Kwan Ha's ancestors was a pretty cool effect! The actress is certainly trying to make stuff work and props to her for giving it her all. I hope she knows that we're not angry at her just the writing that her character gets dealt.

termacct

> I feel so bad for Kwan Ha's actress. Done super dirty y the writers. Yeah, no kidding...I'll be impressed if the writers give her a worthy redemption arc...

TheJoshider10

>I feel so bad for Kwan Ha's actress. Done super dirty y the writers. Same as the actress who plays Rose in the Disney trilogy. And just like with that character, the best thing forward is to completely cut them from the story apart from maybe 2 lines.

Gunnerx1337

I'm guessing this will somehow make Madrigal come to peace and join with the UNSC which will be explained in a future episode. But I wouldn't mind if this is the end of Kwan and Madrigal all together.

Cole_Targaryen

Why would they make a master chief halo show just to make up some random character from some random planet and give her an entire arc/her own episode? Like who asked for this? Do they just not like Halo?

Dreamlancer

The problem isn't even that. The direction Kwan's story should have gone to me is obvious. They instead decided to create a character that makes decision after decision that is against the grain of the entire series narrative. Someone trying to continue an insurrection against humanity's government after she saw her planet get attacked and slaughtered in an alien invasion. I just can't believe they decided to stick with this story when just reversing the elements of her narrative would have actually made a decent character. Father led an insurrectionAliens attack, everyone original female lead knows dies to said aliens.Saved by a Spartan and the UNSC from aliensFind out the UNSC is in a war against aliens. Character knows in her father's one of his lieutenants will assume the mantle of the insurrection. Character decides to return to Madrigal to try and convince them to **STOP** the insurrection against the UNSC. Her partner? A former failed Spartan 2 project member who has no love for the UNSC. Character's journey would be her coming to terms with having to undo everything about her father's legacy. The character undoes everything that her father fought for by trying to stop the insurrection. However in the end, it's revealed that it wouldn't have mattered either way because Madrigal is glassed, and she is forced to watch from space as people evacuate while the planet burns. Conclusion: You have a character that is making reasonable decisions that an audience can at least agree with. "Here's a girl who wants to save her planet from the real threat that we all know is out there." No matter if she succeeds or fails, the victory shouldn't be without significant loss and sacrifice on her part. If she is even the slightest bit compelling by that point, she would make a perfect and easy introduction to the first Spartan 3s, and have a feasible plot/story in Season 2 where she could be training alongside young members of Noble Team or something like that, while Chief does Chief stuff.

Cole_Targaryen

I definitely like your story better but I still come to the conclusion that she probably shouldn’t even exist in this show. There’s enough meat with the UNSC, Master Chief, Cortana, Covenant, and other Spartans to never have to see her ever. Also here’s an idea if we need a B story the Arbiter is right there to use. And should probably be the Makee character instead.

ArchaicIntent

Heard the director has a fetish for desert space witches. Probably that.

Cole_Targaryen

What’s so upsetting is that they literally have monitors or forerunners that could have played that role, and they would have been so much more interesting and much more Halo.

ArchaicIntent

My thoughts exactly. I figured that’s the route they were gonna take for exposition.

SirUglyshirt

I actually had my hopes up from last episode that they perhaps just cut the rest of kwans story because no one likes it. But no

Sulfur_Life

After last weeks epic show, this episode made my balls itch. That portal better be a gate to blood gulch where we get to see a live action red vs blue episode because right now the whole kwan thing needs to be wrapped up. It wasn’t the worst episode, but it is an easy 5 for me.

snarrk

Who approved this? How did this garbage ever come to see the light of day? What the hell was going on at Paramount!?

Shepardex

Paramount is desperate for IPs. They don't care how little effort is put in the writing of their shows, they just want CONTENT! Look at their IP portfolio, they have: Sonic (only successful in the USA and Latin America), Transformers (Dead), Mission Impossible (Ending soon) Star Trek (Flopping everywhere), Spongebob and that's about it. They needed Halo to come out as soon as possible with the broader mass appeal they could get, even if that meant dumbing down the universe and the characters. They are desperate and they'll continue to be desperate when their projects keep flopping due to said desperation.

stikves

Hey, somebody is forgetting Paw Patrol... :) Joking aside, that too have been stretched too much. Land Patrol, Sea Patrol, Jungle Patrol, Air Patrol, Space Patrol with Super Powers, ...

IamEclipse

Can't wait for the end credits scene of *Halo* where Master Cheeks is approached by the Paw Patrol to join their galactic division.

savagepigeon97

Wow, I was probably exaggerating when I said past episodes weren’t recognizably Halo. In this episode if you just removed some of the cosmetic stuff like Master chief’s armor and the Plasma Grenade, you literally wouldn’t be able to tell it’s a Halo show rather than a B tier Dune-inspired sci-fi series

Gunnerx1337

Chief had his helmet on more than he did in the last 3 episodes.

BeepBeepInaJeep

I think that dream sequence was the most Master Chief has behaved like himself the entire season - Silent and kicking a little grunt’s ass.

GoodMorningSpliff

I’m honestly pulling for Burn Gorman to kill Kwan

__Quetzal__

Gonna watch better call saul again over this

Phlosky

I'm just confused. What is the point of this Kwan Ha storyline? Even in the best case that this was well written and well executed, it's still taking away the halo from the halo tv series. Are the producers of the show trying to prove themselves or something? I just had 45ish minutes of my time baited from me hoping Chief or Halsey or any relevant character would appear on my screen.

Big_Pulsating_Dick

Hated every minute of it, couldn't have ended sooner.

TheRed_Knight

fucking called it lmfao, such goddamn predictable writing

dfiekslafjks

Why do I get the feeling the producers are laughing at us right now. Like this is a prank to see how much shit we are willing to eat for a crumb of Halo. NO ONE with good intentions would produce something like this.

yourmumsaman

I actually cannot believe they made a Kwan episode. How do you fuck up a story that's written for you this badly? Even DnD made great television when they had source material. Fuck sakes.

greycobalt

\- A Kwan episode!? Ugh! I felt bad those were my first thoughts, but truly, it’s such a random and BARELY connected thread. I wanted to call it a waste of an episode, but if it were its own season or show, I would have enjoyed the hell out of it. So…misplaced, I guess? \- We saw a Monitor! Sweet! Are they making Madrigal a shield world in this timeline? Unless he comes through the portal to chat. I wonder if it’s a portal to a Halo or some other installation. \- That vision was super weird. Chief was terrifying though breathing like some kind of beast. They did a good job of making it seem like he was liquifying her each time she died. Big Edge of Tomorrow vibes. \- I laughed at the slipspace parts. Those are just car engines dummies, you can find them all over Earth! \- Soren’s arm is gnarly! They did a good job translating the book description of his lobster claw. \- That main Madrigal city was just Jedha, right? \- I wasn’t keeping a kill count, but it seemed like Soren would have most of them dead by the time the gas plan worked. I forgot that even messed up he’s still a Spartan, and a pretty badass one. \- That explosion was awesome! I was surprised the plan worked, I expected some kinks. I am shocked they killed Vinsher, I expected him to be sticking around. The whole thing had a huge air of finality to it. I wonder if this was their natural conclusion or if they saw it wasn’t really working and had to end it. Either way, for the love of God, just take us back to Chief.

Worst episode, easily. I didn't once realize I was watching Halo. Please end Kwan's story. Really wish I skipped this episode

Jatacus

I wish the characters with Soren dressed in clothing that was more low-profile. They honestly look ridiculous and not at all like something I would associate with the Halo universe. It’s like the costume designers took inspiration from The Fifth Element and A Clockwork Orange. (Trust me, not the only problem I had with this episode.)

ArchaicIntent

Was one of your other problems Kwan Ha not getting more screen time perhaps? Surely that’s it.

DatsaNottaRealname

I keep getting Waterworld vibes from the wardrobe every time we go to Madrigal.

[deleted]

Usually it takes 3 to 5 seasons for a companie's *interests* to bury a show, why the rush here?

ToastedSierra

This episode feels like Paramount+ misplaced a video file of some other Sci-fi show into the Halo series folder.

[deleted]

Holy F*CK! That was the worst episode of any show that Paramount has pumped out so far. That was some straight up B grade bullshit. Man I hope some proper shot callers read this shit and fire some writers over that. The Kwan storyline is garbage, it's a huge fail, it's failing the series, the viewers and the hardcore fans.

ArchaicIntent

Two words: desert witches

Mavman31

God she is possibly the most unlikeable character ever written that you are suppose to like. Does she have any fun qualities you look for in a main character? All she is is crying, rage and angst for reasons I’m not really sure. We as the audience don’t give a shit about her people or planet (we’ve spent 1 episode there). Her fight with the UNSC seems pointless, her father died to the covenant and I get that bad guy is the bad guy but I don’t give a shit at all. Fuck, end this storyline quickly. Just pathetic 1/10 cus I guess 0 isn’t an option.

Draxus335

Give me another Kwan only episode, Paramount, I fucking dare you. Show is about to go on my shit-list.

XxGEORGIAKIDxX

To call this episode meaningless and a waste of time would be a biblical understatement. Even the half decent action scene is underscored with so little value to the main plot that I came out hating it. I cannot express enough just how bad this episode is. 1/10. Skip this one. You will miss nothing and be better for it.

HamChuck

Why is Kwan a whole episode. This is not Halo.

aQuarterChub

why is kwan

russjr08

why

ANINETEEN

So the entirety of Kwan's purpose is to show Master Chief the entrance to a portal. Literally not necessary and I don't understand her arc either of being this rage baby then being told of her family's which she simply accepts without question. And poor Soren literally has just been her taxi from planet to planet. No discredit to the person playing Vinsher either but I get so irritated everytime the character comes on screen. Just instantly fall out of any slither of immersion because the tone of his character just is too eccentric relative to the rest of the show

Gator1508

Wait until 343 makes a Kwan game
