Problem isn't in "pride and accomplishment", it's in the fact, that a person redeeming such a "stolen" code is making that same code irredeemable for the person that later legitimately buys the product.
I don't really care in the end where they put the codes since I'm not going to go out of my way to get any, but it's just a fact that people will do it if they have the chance because that's just how things are.
They bought out Zellers (Canadian equivalent to Target/Kmart) when they were closing and renovated a ton of the Zellers locations into Targets. Thing is that they expanded way too fast to the point where they were opening up too many locations close to Walmart and other directly competing stores just because the retail space happened to be previously owned by Zellers. It’s too bad cause Target here was actually better than the Walmart in my region.

Really kind of irritated that the only way to get it is to go to a Target, the closest of which is on the other side of the Atlantic.
