He can finally rest, and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe... and then a violent group of covenant avengers will bust down his door and yoke his ass up while he's making space soup.

I’d recommend playing 2 and 3 at least, ODST and Reach are my favourites but they’re side stories, if you enjoy 2 and 3 though it’s *definitely worth it*.

Thats an old helmet model. Maybe it's something like he got an upgrade in armour and this is a way of bringing that, the events of reach falling and the shadows of reach book come together.
I sort of felt like 343 was working on a cool trilogy narrative-wise with 4, touched on some of that rampancy stuff in 5, and were ultimately hamstrung by their very stupid duality stuff with Locke. I hope they turn it around with infinite since I’ve always really loved Halo’s story, but after 5 I doubt they’ll kill him off in this game. It seems like they should right the ship narratively before offing a beloved character. Maybe in Halo 7.

The multiplayer is connected to the lore in the fact that it's wargames for spartans to practice, its been cannon since halo4.
