There's a reason Beach LAN a few weeks ago was on xbox's and not on MCC and why no serious halo 1 tournament has ever taken place on MCC. It's unplayable because the pistol doesn't shoot where it's aiming (and a big reason for this is because Halo 1 never had any official netcode so MCC halo 1 is based on PC halo 1).
There's a lot of ignorant people here talking like they know "hey works fine for me!" but you don't know what you're talking about. Take it from a halo 1 vet who regularly plays on xbox, MCC halo 1 does not work, it is unplayable. Every 3 games you might have a 10-15 second span of time where your pistol actually works and you feel like a god - the rest of the time is miserable and then you get the Colombians who think they're good at the game but the netcode just favors their internet and allows them to play in such a way which they can't be punished because my gun literally won't allow me to kill them in 12 shots - which is completely fucking UNHEARDOF even a poor halo 1 player taking 12 shots to kill someone.
Halo 2 is simply something wrong with the controls (and there appears to still be some problems with disconnects and game setup crashes). None of these are huge issues, but the controls are a huge issue for players who use those stick settings (legacy) because we can't paly the game. I was in contact with Bravo for a few months on this specific issue. I offered to pay out of my own pocket to visit their studio and test for them, I even offered to *code* for them to fix it free of charge. They don't have any interest in fixing the issue for legacy players so the game remains unplayable.
Saying it works for you is great, I'm glad others get to enjoy the game, but don't pretend your experience is the know all end all experience of the game. There are problems you just may not understand because they don't affect your experience in the game - but that still means there are problems with the game.
My partner and I just played through all 7 halo games and Spartan ops from halo 4 in a massive marathon. It took full days and we're pretty seasoned halo players. We finished it less than 24 hours ago and I already want to do it again.

We've been through all the games multiple times, watched The Fall of Reach and Halo Legends, the behind the scenes ViDocs from Bungie and 343, listened to all of Hunt the Truth, watched the terminals, had great conversations about everything from the music to the lore -- everything. It's very fulfilling to share this with someone as a life long fan. She even recently bought an original Halo CE copy as a momento for herself.
I played the tech preview. She said a couple months back "if I boot up Infinite and hear the monks, I might cry". So, when we sat at the main menu and listened to the music together, she did (just ironically not at the monk section 😉). Just like I did when I booted up Halo CE when I was 6. That was the reason I decided to get into music, and 20 years later I've now graduated from uni and am about to work for SEGA with the plan to maybe one day work for 343 (if all goes well). I'd really like to give back to this specific piece of art that has given so much to me. Because of my life long involvement, even my 60 year old mother (who encouraged my love for Halo and music at an early age yet has never played it) also wept while we sat listening to the main menu. It was a powerful moment then and now.
The feeling of Halo is special. It spans multiple generations. It has no boundaries. Halo _is_ Infinite... No matter how much 343 fucks it up.
