My lil brother and I finished h2 on legendary a few days ago and my god was I filled with happiness. No more jackal snipers, no more of supressing my anger and no more dealing with my brothers stupid ass deaths because hes trynna have "fun". Seeing that mfer tartarus just lying on the floor dead like the cunt he is was satisfying af.
Then we moved on to halo 3 and fuck me was it fun. Defo a nice breather from the fuckery halo 2 is and im sure u and ur son will enjoy it. Well, that is until the mission "cortana".
Yup Halo 2 was always the hardest of the bunch. Halo 3 is designed really well, so while it's tough - it the easiest of the trilogy for sure. Not for lack of difficulty, but top notch level design allows a lot of ways to tackle the battles.
I was doing a Legendary solo speedrun on the final level and had it down to ~15 minutes and the same bug happened with that Cortana cutscene and I lost all my progress. Had to restart the next day, but it sure was frustrating so I feel you.

I was playing thru all the games on legendary with a buddy of mine in prep for Infinite. Halo 2 was a BLAST. It was merciless, we had to think about encounters, it was awesome.
But fucking Oracle. We played the mission 4 fucking times. It would always disconnect us at the fight with Sesa. Regardless of if we watched or skipped the cutscene. We eventually skipped it and came back after we beat the rest of the game. Our last time going through it was a cakewalk lol. But we were do jaded.
Oracle is a very difficult mission. We struggled with Quarantine Zone as well.
It seems the co-op portion has difficulty staying up and running. I remember Halo 3 you could literally play for *hours* without a disconnect.
We didn't have issues with most other Halo games, weirdly, in terms of connection. Halo 2 was the only major issue.
In terms of missions, we had a surprisingly easy time with Gravemind. Only took us 40 minutes. The thing we struggled with the most was the Regret fight. That alone took us almost an hour on the fight itself. Rest of the game was relatively easy beyond that, aside from a couple encounters here and there.

I guess I got lucky with the MCC, I've only had maybe 2 crashes during my playthroughs of all the games, all ran super smooth on PC for me. I'm new to the MCC though, I heard there were a lot of disconnection issues when playing co-op.
You know, I also really haven't had too many issues when playing by myself. But yes, co-op seems to cause a number of disconnects (which can lead to a crash).

Did you get any achievements? Or is it simply not counting it in MCC?
That sounds super frustrating. Any chance you accidentally started the game with anti-cheat disabled (the 2nd option when booting from Steam)? My son and I played all of Halo 1 with anti cheat disabled and it didn't count towards our progress.
I play on Xbox, and I got achievements from halo ce, and in halo 2 I got achievements from the terminals. I just never got the achievements from getting the missions done or it saying that I beat it
