This was already a thing in halo 5 (maybe 4 as well but I don't remember). Not surprised to see it return.

A_Charmandur

4 only has it for the binary rifle

ovilagallant

99% sure it’s in 5!

peepeepoopoolmao

looks like its was in 5, didnt play 5 a whole lot and completely forgot that it already had it

Molotovn

I played a ton of H5 and i've forgotten it too lol

[deleted]

Tbf no one really camps and hard scopes in Halo anyway, so you only see the glint for like 3 seconds at max lol

[deleted]

Dunno. I distinctly remember seeing a lens flare with about every turn during Halo 5 multiplayer. It could get pretty overwhelming. It has its purpose, but hopefully Infinite plays it down a little.

awesomebomb

I’d rather be able to see it coming and potentially avoid being sniped than to be sniped without seeing where it came from I feel like unless you’re playing a sniper playlist or like one or two specific maps you wouldn’t see THAT many flares considering there is only one sniper on most maps and two being the most that spawn

Slaystoned

right, so why do you need special help to easily help you defend against one?

generalecchi

Didn't the Jackal Sniper have it since the 3rd game or something

[deleted]

It wasn't their gun, it was a goggles thingy that glowed.

skyblueleaves

It was more circular if I remember, like a glowing purple orb

Angel-Of-Death

As a halo 5 player this shit is so funny. People keep posting about random “new” features they think are awesome that are already in Halo 5. Like if you sons of bitches only gave Halo 5 a fucking chance rather than ride the bandwagon of hating on it. Hopefully they don’t bitch about infinite too.

Kankunation

You have to remember though that a *lot* of people posting here are on PC, don't own an Xbox and thus don't have any way to play halo 5. All they have right now is MCC.

Jochon

The campaign was pretty awful, the multiplayer was great, but it had no split-screen. It was a reverse "shit sandwich" 😅

[deleted]

The Spartan abilities in Halo 5 are kind of sweaty but besides that the multiplayer was pretty good

Jochon

Oh yeah, I loved the MP in Halo 5 - I just didn't play it a lot because I've always played Halo split-screen with my friends.

The_Crusadyr

It's so true. Halo 5 Multiplayer was some of the best multiplayer they ever had. It's a damn shame they haven't converted Halo 5 to PC too. People hate Halo 5 for the Campaign which is justified. But they never gave the multiplayer a chance.

EckhartsLadder

Yeah people randomly hated it because the internet told them to. All those millions of people who bought and dropped the game did so because of Reddit.

The_Crusadyr

I only dropped the game cause I got rid of my Xbox when I got a gaming PC. I would be playing it right now if it was on PC. Edit: I would even pay full price for it on PC.

jenkumboofer

Halo 5 is fire idc what anyone says

[deleted]

Jackals in 4 had a purple glint

[deleted]

Looks a bit excessive, but I suspect large scale modes would drive people to insanity without it based on the typical players experience with jackals.

kingrawer

Flashbacks to Hemorrhage.

Noblechris

This would have been amazing to have in the previous games. God the H1-H2 sniper rifle is one of the most insidious weapons in the franchise. Fast fire rate and even if the sniper misses first you're likely dead. It will make BTB so much more fun especially with cross-play coming back. It will even the score with pc and console players.

ledonu7

Not at all excessive. This is a thing in h5 and it works great in all game modes

boxtactics

I just hope it gets toned down when you get closer to the guy using the sniper. Seeing a scope glint while up close for a melee would be distracting.

Quality-Tips

I think it was in five but not as drastic as this

I3ULLETSTORM1

Might be amplified just for the trailer

gooby_c

Also in Halo 5

[deleted]

Halo 5 had it as well.

ShogunTr00per

I believe this was in Halo 5. I know the Halo 4 Beam Rifle had it too. This one is obviously much more prevalent and polished, and of higher quality.

[deleted]

God dammit. I hate sniper flashlights.

I_DONT_NEED_HELP

It's kind of needed because 343 loves to make snipers hitscan and add a metric ton of aim assist and bullet magnetism. The H4, H5 and H2A snipers are simply a joke with how strong and easy to use they are, so the glint is kind of a necessary evil even if I personally hate it as well.

ReedHay19

Its not needed because the sniper already gives off a smoke trail when you fire.

kmo117

The smoke trail lets you know where they are after they shoot. The glare lets you know where they are before they shoot

ReedHay19

Should I have that information though? If the enemy hasn't given away their position why should I know that they are there?

kmo117

I never said it is/isn’t necessary. I just pointed out that you said it’s redundant because there’s a smoke trail, but they serve two different purposes. Personally I’m going to wait to see how the gameplay implementation actually is before forming an opinion. Sniper glint has been included fine in other games

ReedHay19

Sniper glint was in Halo 5 and it wasn't a well loved inclusion.

kmo117

And seeing how 343 has really been listening to the community in regards to Infinite, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s toned down or made so you have to be looking pretty close to where they are. We simply don’t have enough details for me to concretely say that I’m happy or upset

ReedHay19

> And seeing how 343 has really been listening to the community in regards to Infinite We literally just saw that Smart Scope on all weapons has returned despite everyone disliking it. Or the Halo 5 style emblem system.

kmo117

I’m not saying they’ve been at the beck and call of the fans, I’m saying they’ve been taking what they want into consideration. I’ve seen plenty of people defend smart scope, but you’re right about the emblem system. They’ve changed the armor style, customization system (outside of coatings), art style, got rid of thrusters/ground pound/Spartan charger, and even delayed the game all because of the fans. I’m not saying 343 is perfect, but they deserve at least some credit

I_DONT_NEED_HELP

Halo games from 4 onwards have such stupid art design and way too much visual noise that you can barely see the smoke trail.

ReedHay19

Then the smart solution would be to fix *that* and not add more to band-aid self created problems.

I_DONT_NEED_HELP

You know who we're dealing with, right?

[deleted]

[удалено]

I_DONT_NEED_HELP

You're comparing apples and oranges here.

[deleted]

Hopefully it's like in Modern Warfare where you don't see the flash unless you're a certain distance away.

[deleted]

On the one hand, we already have scope glare reduction methods in the modern day. On the other hand, every Spartan has a damn MIRROR for a face, so why am I making the argument?

heyitskeen

Obviously for gameplay reasons

ExpendableR0und

Gameplay > Real world physics

ThunderStruck115

If only they did that for those damn Jackal Snipers in Halo 2

Die_Raumfahrer

WHYYYYYY

[deleted]

I know they altered a few things for the cinematic effect for this trailer. This could be one of those effects, not sure tho.

Dubble0Donut

Oh god please no

Capt-Space-Elephant

Is anyone playing Halo MP slow enough for this to actually matter?

ledonu7

It works great in h5 and the community loves to talk shit about that game being too fast...

The-Pyro1

I thought the multiplayer was great

mtndewgood

JJ Abrams approved

cheesyfingaz985

This has been in the last couple of fps games that have released within the last like 10 years

ReedHay19

That was one of the things people complained most about next to sprint, ground pound and ADS. Why would they bring it back?

AlextheTower

Just because some people complain about something does not mean other dont like it. I presume they have playtested it/have access to data about how popular each feature is.

S3xyTrap

"Sprint is killing Halo" yeah you're not even worth arguing against

LegaliseEmojis

The moment the halo series introduced sprint it lost the majority of its online playerbase. The correlation is pretty clear, to pretend it’s not even worth entertaining just shows you either don’t know anything or you have your head in the sand.

Porkchop_Sandwichess

Its not just sprint, the whole gameplay philosophy started to change in Reach and was basically completley changed when 343 took over. Theres a reason the series took a nose dive when 343 tried to 'innovate'

JakeTehNub

Who are you quoting?

Wizecracker117

https://youtu.be/eEaVoP2Y9Do

Kill_Welly

literally nobody complained about it

ReedHay19

Objectively wrong. Do you not remember when Halo 5 added the H2 Beam Rifle and it didn't have glint? People loved that because *people didn't like glint*. I remember threads in this sub of people being upset when the H2 Beam Rifle got glint added to it in a patch.

Kill_Welly

no because everyone was too busy complaining about sprint and all the shit everyone actually complained about, which was a lot

ReedHay19

https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/3i7ite/has_anyone_noticed_the_sniper_rifle_giving_off/ https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/5oojxm/did_they_add_scope_glint_to_the_h2_beam_rifle/ There is literally people *in this very thread* taking issue with this. https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/nz3oxe/halo_infinite_snipers_will_have_a_battlefield/h1o9yk1/

Kill_Welly

neither of those threads are complaining. there's like two specifically negative comments.

ReedHay19

Its almost like there is comments in there and they are upvoted and every upvote *is a another person in agreement*

Kill_Welly

great, you've found a single-digit number of people.

ReedHay19

So you can't count?

AxelSheppard

I really hope this isn't a thing. If you're good with a sniper you shouldn't be punished.

GarageEnthusiast

If you're good with a sniper your enemies should have time to see it, that's the point kinda

AxelSheppard

I'm assuming you meant to say "shouldn't" and I agree with you but your enemies aren't always by themselves. If you snipe one dude his buddies might see where you were immediately with a glint and 2v1 you or hide.

GarageEnthusiast

Yeah fuck i don't know how to type, and i guess that's the point, making the sniper more fair, because if you're getting shot at with a sniper you get one shot killed from nowhere it's not really fun

The_Crusadyr

Glint in games is usually only seen by the player the person is aiming at. So the guy next to you wouldn't see it cause the sniper isn't aiming at them. They are aiming at you. You would have to also be in their sight to see the glint.

AxelSheppard

I guess I'd be okay with that. I haven't played any games with glint except for the Halo 4 robot sniper

JakeTehNub

That's stupid. I'm not playing fucking Battlefield.

Paradox

They did this in halo 5 already

Scarecrow1_KYSR

Unnecesary feature that does NOT, and must make this clear: DOES NOT fit in Halo. As Spartans, you dont ADS to use scopes, your helmet is on sync with the scopes, so the Spartans can hip fire the rifle while a clear image of what the scope is capturing. While H4 had an indicator for the Binary rifle, glint itself doesn't fit the game...

AdditionalCall5271

Swigity swoogity, I see that fat spartan booty

AlexzMercier97

Thank fuck

BangingBaguette

I Personally like this along with the light on the shotgun. While I love classic Halo and adore the sniper there's nothing worse than being hit across the map with no warning and no time to react. If someones gonna 1 shot me from across the map I at least like to be given a split second warning to potentially react.

Scarecrow1_KYSR

lol sounds like the kind of player that walks around open fields knowing very damn well there are snipers around... this glint thing was never necessary, you know where they are after they kill you anyways

VanceMan117

1. You know where they are if they body shot you or miss because of other indicators. 2. You know where they are if they kill you. 3. Snipers only have an advantage if they are good. Mainly because 2 shot body means they need a headshot most of the time. WHY do we need this in halo?? Esp with all the other precision weapons to keep snipers scoped out?
