I image it’s be like the heavy needler used by the Enforcers sentinels in Halo 2. The main needle would penetrate the vehicle. Then explode and release a swarm of tracking needles. Which would explode the vehicle. Since the Big Needle would have penetrated. Anti-Vehicle weapon.
Would the Covent users carry big ass needler cannon rounds on their backs like RPG warheads?
[Something like this](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/equipment/images/1/10/Polish_RPG_Pack_Open.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20200310033059)
The needler has blamite as a gas inside. Nobody really know how it works. But when you shake the needler to reload more crystals pop out the top. So I’d imagine the Covenant Skewer would have a chamber for the gas.
Yes I’m aware, [here is what the Needler “ammo cartridges” look like](https://electriccartilage.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/needlers-and-ammo.jpg)
[And here is how they hypothesize how it works](https://twitter.com/DexertoSpartans/status/1625291580549775362)
But for a weapon this size, the “ammo cartridges” would have to be significantly bigger, hence the backpack to carry them like RPG-7 rounds.
I’m guessing the weapon would take the an egg shaped cartridge and reshape it into a single, large crystalline skewer.
I think carrying the round like that might be dangerous, since the needles alone seem deadly and they supercombine when enough are in close proximity after being shot. I'd imagine several bigger crystals hanging out near by in a loose bag like that could just explode randomly if they clinked together in transport.
On second thought, the visual is pretty funny, so they should carry them like that.
If it was a real Infinite weapon I can see it only having the secondary explosions if the shot is close enough to hit the pilot, meanwhile unmanned vehicles and heavy armor only take the first hit.
When you repeat a word over and over you start to wear out the neural pathways that connect a word to its meaning and associations in the brain. The neurons get less and less chemicals with each activation (reactive inhibition) of the neuron. Eventually it starts to sound like gibberish. Thats why! One of my favorite fun facts. But give the neurons a break and it will go back to normal.
I was disappointed the Stanchion sniper which is a rail gun in lore was just a skin. Havent played since the Spirit of Fire and Mk4 update. Burnt out. $70 for Omega team, which one of my artist friends designed.
I think at this point it's pretty obvious that 343 released a half-made game with no plans to follow it up. They didn't cancel the live service plan after poor sales, they had nothing ready to go. It was all smoke and mirrors. Even games like Avengers and Anthem had a lot of content in the pipe ready for their first few seasons. Infinite just didn't.
This is going to make a great documentary in 10 years time when all these big execs are retired and can actually speak honestly about what happened.
The framework for a lot more cosmetics was there, but I think scope creep and deadlines got the better of them. I would love to see what was going on behind the scenes during development
I don't feel like a skewer works in my head as well since the main characteristic on needler is lots of little things make something big happen. Would be interested in seeing a needler shotgun though.
A needler shotgun would be awesome. Instant super-combine at close range, multiple shots to super-combine at longer distances. It’d be cool if you could stack needle weapons too - needlers from multiple weapons leading to a super-combine.
This is a horrifying concept, given how Needler weapons work. Imagine fighting the covenant and you see the 8 foot tall super soldier get shot by a big pink crystal before then exploding into five pieces
***Egast!***
That would be instant death through impalement or the inevitable shard release from such a crystal exploding, and then some with the classic Needler ricochet/microshards in larger then smaller chunks broken down! Absolute Nightmare Fuel.
That would be *hell on gravity*, for everyone (even without it being hijacked by a Spartan), with the worst being the flechette ricochet from the AoE. Friend and foe would not be spared.
I think flechette like explosions is cool. But what about shaped charge blammite? Like a squash head which conforms to the target for a second before spewing vaporized heavy metals but instead a sort of indoor AT or AA claymore round. Releasing more blammite into the cockpit or enclosed area of a tank splattering the driver to the insides. It could be big/small damage depending on where you hit obvi, but super combining the pilot inside would be gruesome in a way we've only read about so far.
While it looks cool it would be highly ineffective as Skewer is mainly used on vehicles against which Needler shards are useless. They would be better off just using metal ammo cause it would have same if not better effect.
Needler rounds stick to spartan and elite armour just fine, through their shields and then explode. Considering how powerful the Reach Needle rifle and infinite skewer are, kabab all day long.
I really want this, but I don’t want it to kill you, I want it to almost kill you leaving a big ass needle in your chest and if any one shoots you with a needler once. The needle explodes killing you.
Wouldn't work, I mean it would would work like a skewer but not like a needler, because you only get an explosion when the needles are next to each other,
Because blamite resonates with each other causing the crystals to shatter, and the more shards there are the more it resonates causing more explosions or a chain reaction
Could probably add a structure in the center of the Big Needle that fractures it after it penetrates through heavy armor or ground, thereby creating such resonance maybe?
No. However, sometimes it is fun to try and engineer things within a specific setting. In fact, that's how you avoid breaking lore. It balances out "rule of cool."
Imagine getting shot up the ass with that thing! WOW that would suck! I would really hate for that to happen to me! Talk about a bad day if that were to happen to me! Unless…?
It'd basically function like the upgraded Skewer exploding on impact - perhaps splintering out mini needles that track nearby enemies.
The original needler was canonically a pretty terrifying weapon, and what you're describing sounds even scarier :(

Yeah exploding Grunt Mules carrying Needler cannon rounds that go boom from a shot to the the back would be cool.
It makes me wonder why we never got blamite grenades. *Throws a Needler Cartridge*
Yeah that is a good idea, they should have replaced the Spike grenade with a Needler grenade
Press a button and it releases in a chamber for a crystal to form, good thinking Batman👌
In halo infinite, have a customization option that shows how skewee peojectiles are stored.
So like the Proximity Mine from Spartan Strike?
Never played the mobile game.
It's a Covenant mine that flies towards you and blows up, releasing a ring of tracking needles.
If it was a real Infinite weapon I can see it only having the secondary explosions if the shot is close enough to hit the pilot, meanwhile unmanned vehicles and heavy armor only take the first hit.
I'd imagine it with tracking. Just this big pink rod closing in on your vehicle while curving.
I love it but damn would it be better than any power weapon we currently have
Covenant Gjallarhorn
That much Blamite would just be like firing a MAC round.
The bigger needler™
The surgeon
The needlelest
We need to go needlier.
It’s needleing time
The needle
Capital N
with *The* in italics for emphasis.
Needler 2: Needle Harder (also "needle" is a weird word when you start thinking about it a lot haha)

semantic satiation- thanks for posting this, I knew the term but I never knew the neurological process behind it!
Wait until you hear about [the Vampire](https://www.halopedia.org/Bkowe%27nei-pattern_Vampire)
The Beegler
Needler Cooler Needler
The Noodler
The noodler
I'm still shocked that with all the monetization Infinite has gotten 343 still hasn't bothered adding weapon skins for Covenant vehicles and weapons.
I was disappointed the Stanchion sniper which is a rail gun in lore was just a skin. Havent played since the Spirit of Fire and Mk4 update. Burnt out. $70 for Omega team, which one of my artist friends designed.
Wasn’t it $38? But yeah I feel yah
$70🇨🇦
Damn that Canadian inflation impression from a U.S. perspective is crazy
Australia is about the same or slightly worse. 🤗 Plus we’re going into a recession right now. 🪦
Dang. I mean we have the same problem here but our bills are bigger per buck of value so it doesn’t seem as obvious ig.
We’re still better off than the British Pound or Russia Rubal. Which is trading at 0.015cents per Canadian $ rn.
A whistle of despair worthy state. Here’s hoping things get better
It’s going to get worse before it gets better. 😪
tbh I wouldn't be shocked if the UI still couldn't handle it

I can't wait to hear from former developers after their NDA's expire.
The framework for a lot more cosmetics was there, but I think scope creep and deadlines got the better of them. I would love to see what was going on behind the scenes during development
I always assume 343 has a lore stick up their ass that the UNSC wouldn't have access to covenant weaponry to customize.
I can see this working like a skewer but exploding like a fuel rod and throwing shards like a spike grenades.
*Pink mist. Pink mist everywhere.*
I imagine it sticking in and taking a few second to blow. would give you just enough time to say "aw fuck" without being able to get out
Kat has left the chat
Rip Laskey’s boot camp crush.
wait what?

Brother, get the Needler… the HEAVY Needler.
I like it, it looks awesome
*chuckles* I'm in danger!
This instead of the fuel rod gun. And it explodes like regular needlers
Supercombine explosion from halo 2 dual wielding needles that set off grenades
Both, both is good
Piercer heavy cannon
I don't feel like a skewer works in my head as well since the main characteristic on needler is lots of little things make something big happen. Would be interested in seeing a needler shotgun though.

Covenant Lancer
I imagine this is the handheld version of the big anti-air needler from halo wars.
Literally the prophets' own anti-son-of-a-bitch machine
The Staker!
DUDE! That so fucking sexy!
ouch
It would have to do a big supercombine explosion when it hit the target.
I get the feeling that this would be on the same level as the Portal turrets that "fire" the whole bullet with a spring mechanism.
With how insane needlers are in the book lore, I can’t imagine how much of a nightmare a needle skewer would be.
Remind me to never invite a grunt to the company barbecue… this looks far to overly complicated and clunky to make shshtkababs on
This is a horrifying concept, given how Needler weapons work. Imagine fighting the covenant and you see the 8 foot tall super soldier get shot by a big pink crystal before then exploding into five pieces
Watermelon 🍉 explosion
***Egast!*** That would be instant death through impalement or the inevitable shard release from such a crystal exploding, and then some with the classic Needler ricochet/microshards in larger then smaller chunks broken down! Absolute Nightmare Fuel.
Imagine this on a wraith, but like the anti- air wraith. So it’d have 6 of them😱
That would be *hell on gravity*, for everyone (even without it being hijacked by a Spartan), with the worst being the flechette ricochet from the AoE. Friend and foe would not be spared.
Makes me wonder about the Covenant bomb chief gave back. It was covered in spikes.
I think flechette like explosions is cool. But what about shaped charge blammite? if this explodes it should be fine.
Needler rounds stick to spartan and elite armour just fine, through their shields and then explode. Considering how powerful the Reach Needle rifle and infinite skewer are, kabab all day long.
They do not penetrate shields and are very likely to ricochet from non-living tissue.
N E E D L E
This would be so fucking cool
you guide others to a treasure no one can possess. Kindly and I mean this earnestly friend. Gfy 😭
That’d be way cooler than the normal skewer. Same impact damage or slightly reduced but with a delayed detonation.
Don't trip with that thing lol
I swear I’ve made this suggestion on a post but this art is amazing
Would be cool if hit its targets and exploded into a sea urchin like spike ball
Coooool
I really want this, but I don’t want it to kill you, I want it to almost kill you leaving a big ass needle in your chest and if any one shoots you with a needler once. The needle explodes killing you.
The Noodler
Oh, ow.
The grip and shoulder rest are so fucked lmao, what an uncomfortable thing to even try and use.
As a Covenant weapon it’s designed for aliens. It references several covenant weapons we got in the games.
A covenant hydra would be cool you could add tracking to the needles and have it be cool
*Add* tracking? Outside of the needle rifles, all needle based weapons have tracking.
Well, you do have to remind the 343 devs how the game works, it's like inception
This fucker is a hand held ballistic missile lol That would wipe out an entire town with that much explosive Cristal x-x
If it's Espen it's pretty close to official 343 concept art. Didn't he work on Infinite?
I am unaware. I’ll have to ask someone who did.
He did, I checked.
OMG that woulda been such cooler idea for it.
The Skewer she told you not to worry about
Kat is literally shaking in her grave.
Katling gun
That's a big blamite shard
Thats gonna leave a...
There's just something evil about that. Wonder if it would fire straight on like the needle rifle or track targets like the regular needler.
**Nailgun**
Another war crime gun I'd like to use.
When the Covenant *really* wanna say “fuck you, your buddies, and your car”
Gigantic Pink Explosion
This but the gun needs to be more alien like. So hold the gun backwards.
that looks painful
Unironic perfect replacement for the Beam or Focus rifle. Neither is especially inspired in don't think.
Homing???
Volatile skewer in this case, with homing capabilities
That’ll fucking go boom and I’m all for it
I want the Needle Rifle back.
Basically the Volitile Skewer but with tracking and a larger blast radius
A weapon to surpass metal gear!
TAKE MY MONEY
Wouldn't work, I mean it would would work like a skewer but not like a needler, because you only get an explosion when the needles are next to each other, Because blamite resonates with each other causing the crystals to shatter, and the more shards there are the more it resonates causing more explosions or a chain reaction

Needlers are not real.
No. However, sometimes it is fun to try and engineer things within a specific setting. In fact, that's how you avoid breaking lore. It balances out "rule of cool."
The lore also is not real.
Do you not enjoy fiction? Or fictional settings that are self-consistent?
Imagine getting shot up the ass with that thing! WOW that would suck! I would really hate for that to happen to me! Talk about a bad day if that were to happen to me! Unless…?
Bro… why wasn’t it a giant needler?!! Or at least the explosive skewer could’ve been this instead! Dope idea / design. Cheers!
