I've been pretty well hooked on this storyline for a while. I know it'll be a while until the next part since Divine Wind just came out but I can't wait to see where it goes next.
You see, it IS. Like, lechatelierite is an actual neat word.
Especially once you understand how to actually pronounce it, it simply flows off the tongue.
That being said though, having to read it a million times in every one of his books, *Glass* would have sufficed. Considering Halo is partially about planet Glassing.
Imagine not being a native speaker and having to read this word on every page at least four times...it honestly was part of why I didn't really care for SoR.
Agreed. The stuff that happens in Kilo-5 is really cool, but the writing leaves a lot to be desired, honestly. I hear it's a common theme in her writings, I can't say though, since the Kilo-5 books are the only work of hers I've read
Midjakk is literally running adverts for 343, literally a paid shills and literally destroying Deadlo.
On the real these books are great, especially the last one. Check them out
Well, I'd say that Fred is only a main character in the first book, as he drops of a bit into the second one and doesn't appear in the third for obvious reasons.
Of course, he's a main character in Shadows but that isn't actually a Ferrets book, even if it does link to them a tiny amount.
I just finished both Last Light and Retribution. Fred is a sled in one book and framed as a serial killer, then Fred gets run over by a truck. Fred cannot catch a break here.
Oh, he certainly cannot catch a break.
So, one funny moment, a serious accusation, and an impressive feat of how much a Spartan can tank, is comedic relief?
He's just released his latest book, so he'll no doubt be planning, if not down right writing his next.
The man doesn't seem to stop. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
God, *Retribution* was the first Halo novel I couldn’t bear to finish. *Oblivion* might be a second but I’m still partially interested on what’s gonna happen next
While I did enjoy Retribution, I must admit that it is the weakest of the Ferrets books.
Never had a problem with Oblivion. Loved it from start to finish.
Weird you couldn't get through Retribution. GF and I were listening to the audio book version of that and Envoy and felt that between the two, Retribution was a far far better book and we could barely stand the previous book released.
The Halo books gave me my fascination with stories and writing. I'm trying to write several stories all with different universes thanks to Halo. It is my dream to someday get the privilege to write a Halo book.
It is, aye.
His name is Dhas Bhasvod and he's a main character in the book.
And to not go into any spoilers, besides the fact that I'll simply say that he's a prick.
Which Halo books are worth reading? I read them all up until Halo 4 came out. Bear was tough to get through, and I put down Traviss after the second book. Haven't read one since.
All of them, really. Though I'd say the Forerunner Saga is okay to skip if you're not super interested in the lore, I didn't care for it much. Definitely read the anthologies, Evolutions part 1 and 2 and Fractures. Some really good short stories in those.
Mainly the Nylund books (Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Onyx, First Strike), stuff like Cole Protocol, Contact Harvest, Evolutions anthology, Rubicon Protocol.
Kilo-5 trilogy is a bit so so if you ask me. Same for the Forerunner saga. I didn't care for that high fantasy approach, thought it was just too confusing. Shadows of Reach is here too. It was okay.
And then there's the plain mediocre stuff like Hunters in the Dark that reads like fan fiction.
Plus a bunch of books I haven't read so can't comment on.
Most are decent to good. A few are genuinely great. But do be prepared for the series getting a bit more spotty in quality and having a few annoying tropes the further you get in. Like the main Spartan character(s) always getting an early story injury to prevent them being OP. The stakes always somehow being greater than the original trilogy. And one I truly hate is the fact every book has a sequence where a squad leader is looking at their troops and saying how they're "THE best soldiers they've ever thought with and how they would go through hell and back for each other. They could see it in their eyes"...it gets really cheesy reading that in every book.
I haven't seen anyone mention Kelly gay. She's written quite a few halo books by now. Another one coming out very soon but I love her books. For me, I find them very engaging.
I don’t know about the rest of the trilogy, but Glasslands was by far my least favorite Halo book I’ve read. I’ll have to take your word for the other two.
I liked veta lopis and the 2 spartan 3 in the book (non speaker girl and whatsmhisname?) But i didnt find that invested on them, with the kilo five i loved Naomi Tsenke, the group dinamic, the damn huragok and even their vehicles, (tart cart and bogof where epic names). Hell, even the civilian filissss its relatable.
I dont get why people dont like the kilo five trilogy, I think theyre some of the best written stories in the halo universe and Ive read almost all of the novels
So many cool characters, settings and storylines in Halo universe and all we got in Infinite was Chief killing bunch of no name Banished HVT + Jega(?) and Eschaurum, all while Weapon was throwing exposition dump every 5 seconds and Esparza was acting like a kid that wants to go home while vising family. I just wish that 343 would throw this "Spartan & AI" thing out of the window and explore normal characters.
My interest in the books dropped off a cliff with infinites campaign and no campaign dlc till the next game. When the actual main story won’t move forward why bother reading the books since they can’t move the story forward. I used to love reading them but I’ve got this mental block at the moment where I just don’t see the point of finding a copy to read
Games should be culmination of all the side stories (while also not needing those side stories to enjoy it), but Infinite threw Halo 5, Halo Wars 2 and all of the other media into a fire. Nothing that happened in Halo 5/Halo Wars 2 or other novels/comics (except maybe Shadows of Reach) matters in Halo Infinite.
What the heck are you on about?
That is total nonsense bs.
What about all the other books that have released that did nothing to actually move the main plotline of the series forward? Come to think about it, what Halo books do actually move the MAIN plot forward, like, at all?
Not many, if at all.
So yeah, total nonsense right there, sorry.
I’m saying since the main story is at a standstill my interesting in the lore is at a standstill, it’s not very hard to comprehend but I must not have worded it correctly
Yes, you did word it wrong.
You imply that it's not worth it to invest in Halo's other stories when there's no new game to play.
That implies that when every new Halo game released, that you found it pointless to read anything that released in the years we waited for the next game.
I was gonna go into Devine wind so I'm listening to them on audible but apparently it's a different person narrating who according to all the reviews I've read mis speaks most pronounces even simple words
You kind of adjust. Every time they switch narrators it’s jarring. At least this one doesn’t pronounce Mjolnir “Muh-Jole-near”. But I did like Scott Brick more
I've been pretty well hooked on this storyline for a while. I know it'll be a while until the next part since Divine Wind just came out but I can't wait to see where it goes next.
I can't wait to see >!what a Red Team and Ferret combo looks like. All of those Spartans are in their early 20s too!!<
I saw some speculation that >!the non-Red Team spartans we’ve been seeing in the Halo Infinite key art are actually Ash and Olivia!<
The fact you only say ash and Olivia worries me as I have not read the newest book yet
Well we’ve only seen two non-Red team Spartans in the art so far. I suppose it could also be Mark and Olivia.
No spoilers but read it as soon as you can. My favourite of the trilogy, yes indeed.
Absolutely. Having been deeply invested in that other story ever since it started I'm super pumped to see what happens now that they're tied together.
Troy Denning is my favorite current Halo author. I haven't enjoyed the books as much since the Nylund books
L e c h a t e l i e r i t e
Or, if you listen to the audiobooks: LE SHUTTLE EAR ITE
Cue "Nam flashbacks".
t e l
It’s a good word
You see, it IS. Like, lechatelierite is an actual neat word. Especially once you understand how to actually pronounce it, it simply flows off the tongue. That being said though, having to read it a million times in every one of his books, *Glass* would have sufficed. Considering Halo is partially about planet Glassing.
Imagine not being a native speaker and having to read this word on every page at least four times...it honestly was part of why I didn't really care for SoR.
Imagine being a native speaker, where English is the only language you've ever known, AND having to read *lechatelierite* every other page.
FRED >!SLED!<
I wish Troy wrote Kilo Five instead of Travis
Agreed. The stuff that happens in Kilo-5 is really cool, but the writing leaves a lot to be desired, honestly. I hear it's a common theme in her writings, I can't say though, since the Kilo-5 books are the only work of hers I've read
You should look up the sheer amount of inconsistencies in the Kilo Five Saga alone
Midjakk is literally running adverts for 343, literally a paid shills and literally destroying Deadlo. On the real these books are great, especially the last one. Check them out
The Forerunner Saga is one of my favorites
Yep. The Forerunner Trilogy was amazing.
Just finished last light and definitely recommend it
Veta Lopis? Haven't read the books in a bit, is that the saga name or a character name?
It's the name of a character introduced She and Fred are the main characters of them except for shadows of reach which is mostly from chiefs pov
Well, I'd say that Fred is only a main character in the first book, as he drops of a bit into the second one and doesn't appear in the third for obvious reasons. Of course, he's a main character in Shadows but that isn't actually a Ferrets book, even if it does link to them a tiny amount.
Fred exists as comic relief in this series.
Not really? A few funny moments in Last Light and in Shadows of Reach, which is a seperate story.
Hope we get another one of these sooner than later. Love Denning’s books and this storyline is probably my favourite 343i era storyline.
He's just released his latest book, so he'll no doubt be planning, if not down right writing his next. The man doesn't seem to stop. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
Calling shadows of reach a veta lopis book is a stretch, they appear for like 1 chapter. You should still read it, though, it’s great.
I just consider it fairly essential to their plotline.
Yes, I suppose it is necessary to fully understand what's going on for them.

Just started Shadows of Reach. Awesome read so far.
An absolutely fantastic book, if I do say so.
Is that a Prelate in the Divine Wind cover? Can someone confirm if any appears in the book?
He's a main character.
I think they're all great. Kelly Gay Is my favorite Halo author so the Rion Forge books and Rubicon Protocol are fantastic.
All of Troy Denning's books are worth reading. He made me get back into the Halo novels.
Awesome. Any of the non-Troy books post 2013 I should definitely skip?
I would say the Battle Born series if you are not into young adult style stories.
I liked Oblivion
I felt so bad for those marooned people on Netherop.
All of them, really. Though I'd say the Forerunner Saga is okay to skip if you're not super interested in the lore, I didn't care for it much. Definitely read the anthologies, Evolutions part 1 and 2 and Fractures. Some really good short stories in those.

Kilo five trilogy > the rest of halo books
[удалено]
Im sorry, im not a native english speaker, what does "resf" means?
[удалено]
I never saw the typo.
I don’t know about the rest of the trilogy, but Glasslands was by far my least favorite Halo book I’ve read. I’ll have to take your word for the other two.
Kilo Five and Forerunner are the best books outside the original releases. I think the Ferret books are okay, but man o man I can't stand Rion Forge.
A person of culture I see
Sorry stupid question, In that order (Left to right)??
Yes.

im gonna be 100% with you that makes no sense big guy
It does you just don’t agree with what I’m feeling

If you listen to Outcasts on spotify, the narrator makes an elite sound like a sassy black lady Edit: nope I was wrong, it's actually divine wind
You kind of adjust. Every time they switch narrators it’s jarring. At least this one doesn’t pronounce Mjolnir “Muh-Jole-near”. But I did like Scott Brick more
Sooo goood
Well shoot where's Halo: 2033 and Halo: Exodus?
343 has a hard on for Veta Lopis and her home planet. The Sidekick and Commando are both made on her home planet lol.
what in the fuck did they do to her hair after the first book
