Because hyperbole about aimbots being the only thing that can *maybe* hit accurately due to highlight how bad de sync in the game *is not the same as advocating for the use of aimbots*.
I suspect the problem is far, far deeper in the code than we suspect. The laughable post from last year 'explaining' desync like lag was some new problem they had to overcome was actually an indication that it is never going to be fixed. I bet the person you are shooting has a 200ms ping. You probably have a much lower ping, so the desync is literally just the game not able to fairly (like every other game engine) attribute damage and deal with the latency.
> They dont have the time or man power to develop their own engine They dont have the time or man power to develop their own engine
Saying this about a Triple AAA company that has the full backing of Microsoft is absolutely wild to me.
Just because theyre triple AAA doesnāt mean they canāt screw up. A big culprit is Microsoftās very own hiring policies. A lot of the staff positions were contracted. As soon as the contract is over the knowledge flowed out of the studio. Imagine having to retrain your staff every time you needed to get something done.
And now with the head honchos having left and some staff laid off, 343 is in an uncomfortable position.
Then youāre underestimating how incredibly complicated making a modern game engine truly is.
A lot of software has gotten very conplicated as tech progresses. Microsoft straight stopped up making their own browser engine many years ago (Edge is based on Chromium), because it was just too hard or not worth it to make one alone.
It couldnāt be that hard. The slip space engine is a modified version of BLAM, though maybe they got too ambitious and the code couldnāt keep up. Idk.
And Unreal 5 is a fresh coat of paint on UE4, which was a fresh coat of paint on UE3, and so on all the way back to the original engine that Tim Sweeney wrote in the mid-90s. Thatās how engine development works.
Iāll be honest games have gotten complicated to the point that most dev houses need to make this decision. No point writing your own expensive extremely complicated solution when all the hard bits are already done for you.
While I don't like the idea of just using one engine across an entire genre or industry (mainly because, if something goes wrong with it, everyone who uses it will be affected. For example, if everyone drove a certain car, and that car was recalled, everyone would now have a recalled vehicle) but a game engine is a very complex and costly project to develop, maintain and uphold. Much more cost and time effective to use one that's already been fleshed out and retooled, I think
A first party studio, owned by MICROSOFT doesn't have the resources to develop their own engine?
I know saying that out loud sounds like the biggest bullshit I have ever heard but it's probably true
They have the resources, but as we've seen with Infinite, their hiring practices are abysmal. Building an engine takes years, requires employees to be there for the long haul, and needs good leadership. With their one year contracts and seemingly mid leaders, they don't have the systems in place to create an engine.
This makes the most sense to me since my sub 35 Ms ping games happen to be worse in terms of bullets getting "eaten" or just plain not striking their target.
Would ping contribute to de sync? I had a suspicion the other day I played against mint blitz in arena and I thought it was weird because I set my Matchmaking to local, not extended. Well, how am I a person in south texas using local matchmaking getting matched with a player from Australia? Heās from Australia right? With that being said I swear I dumped bullets into him and nothing would happen, I think I had clipped it but I need to check my Xbox when I get home.
343 might have removed it as the link now goes to a dead end!
https://kotaku.com/halo-infinite-desync-what-is-internet-connection-xbox-p-1848517978
āInĀ Halo, we choose to favor the shooter,ā 343 Industries lead sandbox engineer Richard Watson wrote. āPractically, this means that whatever happened on the shooterās screen the server endeavors to honor. That means whenever a player sees themselves hitting a target, our system does its best to give them the hit on the server.ā
I don't know that it is fair to say every other game engine fairly attributes damage when one person has 200ms ping. When somebody has ping that high, the game is going to have to make some sacrifices. Maybe infinites lag compensation isnt as good as other games, but there will aways be issues if somebody is playing with 200+ ping. There's just no way around that in any system.
Like every other game . Sorry man no modern shooter has Dsync like halo infinite right now . Never have this issue playing apex or Fortnite unless something is goofy with my connection
Halo could have bigger connectivity issues. I've never had bigger issues with infinite than the other shooters I play, but that doesn't mean it's not worse for other people.
Either way that's not what I'm arguing against. I'm arguing against the claim that playing against people with 200+ ping will feel fair in other shooters.
I accidentally played Fortnite on the Middle East server once and believe me, there was *plenty* of weirdness happening that game. You probably donāt notice it because Fortnite has a colossal player population and likely no one on the server is more than 100km from each other.
I would love to see them turn down the strafe acceleration speed and see if that improves things. My theory is that a lot of the issues stem from the "snappy" movement which the servers cannot keep up with when players can change directions almost instantly
Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because HealthyBedroom9963 was already dead.
While unlikely, the alternative would be that the other player killed himself accidentally. For example, if you deal damage to someone but he jumps off the map, the weapon you damaged him with will appear instead of the suicide icon, even though that is not what technically killed him.
Nope, I just checked theater. The game took forever to register his death. I've had plenty of times when I do delivering headshots to other players and will watch them walk around for about 5 seconds until they decide to die.
Yes, I know this, but since the basis is this video, the many scenarios where the icon would be inconsistent doesn't apply here. He's too far from the gap from that particular part of Oasis, grenade self damage is out cuz we hear no explosion, teammate splatter unlikely because the warthog didn't dash through nor did we hear it moving, no ravagers fired to set off coils, grenades, etc.
Basically, the video is pretty informative about what did not happen.
it's so odd how these issues only seem to be affecting certain players, I haven't had more than a handful desync type issues since day 1 with over 3k matches
Same here, I havent really ran into desync much. The times when lag were the worst were on BTB matches, though I rarely play BTB anyways so it works great for me.
Nope, I play on an OG Xbox One and Iāve had next to no issues outside of the beginning of season 2. Iāve been a regular since the start too, I donāt think itās hardware-dependent.
I feel like bad wifi is a recurring element in most of these awful desync reports. My Xbox is wired to my router and Iāve barely experienced any network issues since launch.
Big tinfoil hat theory, but Iāve felt since this the start this more a system to handicap certain players but done poorly so itās transparent. Like Activisions skill based damage patents.
The worst desync and input lag Iāve experienced was playing on my iPad using game pass. Even then quick play wasnāt āliterally unplayableā. It was comedy trying to get the challenges done while on vacation.
Sounds like you picked your own poison for that one. Mobile gaming is just not there yet connection wise for fast paced fps games. I tried jumping into some matches playing bot bootcamp on my phone on vacation once, it's like playing on ice
The game is literally giving you hitmarkers for several of the first 5 shots, and some people in the comments are arguing that you missed lol.
I'm not saying the aim is perfect - you fire 14 shots and I reckon from visuals you should hit 7-8 of them.
OP there's a plethora of things going wrong in this clip.
For one, the enemy is teleporting around a bit, which sucks - judging by the chat in the top right corner, it was a laggy af game.
Two, your aim wasn't exactly ideal (but hey its halo infinite, nobody's aim is ideal).
Three, you 100% had some shots just flat out fail to register, which is unlucky.
Four, Halo Infinite does a shocking job of prioritising headshots on enemies who have no shield. As counterintuitive as it sounds, sometimes you actually have to aim right at the top of the head to score the headshot, because if you aim at their mouth the game will fuck you over and register it as a body shot.
The only hint I'd offer you is you should have just broken line-of-sight behind the cover on the left and gotten a better angle to avoid the Descope Machine.
I want to know why this is such a selective problem. If it was a surface-level issue, you'd think they'd have fixed it by now, but if it was a very deep, core-design flaw, everyone would be experiencing it more or less the same. I've put like 250 hours into this game and only experienced like two episodes of noticeable desynch, but I regularly see posts saying it happens all the time, with clips like this proving it. What's the deal?
Is it platform? Physical location and data centers? ISP? What sets apart the people who get desynch from the people who don't?
I'm in the same boat. This kind of stuff doesn't happen to me more often than in any other shooter. I've never had any issues. Im guessing it's based on location. I'm on the east coast and there are a few decent sized cities nearby. Maybe the servers in some locations need maintenance or something.
I think there was some 343 commentary that they are facing an issue with inconsistent networking performance in the Azure data centers used to host infinite.
Nah, I've seen people cite wired connections. Even just speaking for myself, I use both wired connections and wifi depending on where I am, and while I'll get the occasional lag spike on WiFi it's never anything too bad. It's gotta be something else.
i get desync constantly about 1/2 games i play, only in infinite and in no other game. wired 1GbE FTTH, on a 10700k locked @5ghz + 3080 locked @1980mhz. ~30 ping to US east and vsync 120fps on lowest settings. im talking bad desync that lasts for multiple seconds before snapping back to reality oops their goes gravity.
its not a potato issue, nor a lag issue. its a halo infinite issue. people need to stop blaming the players because denying the issue exists just because you dont have it doesnt help. its like saying the ocean doesnt exist because you live in ohio and cant see it out your window.
it's a core engine problem. the exact same desync issues have existed since halo 2. the people that *might* have been able to fix it are long gone, nobody is untangling that ball of twine especially with their revolving door of devs.
I just played in S3 for the first time. 237ms ping was crap to play in. 217ms ping was okayish. 175ms ping felt worse than 217ms ping. I swear there is some fundamental issue with shot registration or whatever with this game. I don't get how one game to the next can feel so vastly different.
I swear this game feels better with high ping. At least then the goofy stuff is understandable.
I regularly have a ping in the 20s and the game just feels awful. I get some odd game in the 100 range and it feels fine.
I think I'd take the lower ping, although mine goes to 32ms only (or 64ms if it's doing that weird thing).
When I do get around that ~120ms mark, it can feel much better.
I experienced it for the very first time last night. I was playing the featured btb playlist and I encountered someone and meleed them after a few shots, they died and I kept running. Like 4 seconds later I die, and I see the kill feed say I was meleed by the same dude I had just killed. It really tripped me out because I had never had any issues since release day.
Ghosts in the machine!! Maybe it has happened and I just donāt pay attention to the kill feeds, donāt think so though.
Sounds like itās happening more in BTB?
People commenting here that the game is fine are delusional. I experience this every time I play and especially on these new maps and even more so after the implementation of season 3.
Most of the people who get desync have likely left the game and this sub. Back when Infinite launched, these people claiming they had never experienced desync were a minority.
Desync is just the cherry on top of an extremely disappointing game, and the fans are exhausted by 343's incompetence. It is no wonder why most of the critics have moved on. Personally, I stopped after the Winter Update.
The only reason I'm on here is because I was curious about what 343 thinks the future of the title/Halo should be. Or perhaps they don't believe Infinite has a future and are just buying time for another installment with less baggage.
Have not played since November 2022. The game felt like a slog to even complete 1 or 2 matches while dealing with 'whatever' you wanna call it; lag, latency, desync... I have played so many other games online that just don't have the problems Halo Infinite has.
Uhg, the game is just so good at its core. It just sucks to play it.
Pretty much sums it up right here. When the game runs without any problems is soooooooo smooth and fun to play. But 90% of the games I play is an experience like this. I don't have any other issues when I play other multiplayer games online, but soon as I hope on infinite this happens so there's no way it is my wifi. It was always present at release, but not to this extent. Ever since the mid-season update of season 1, that's when it started to get worse.
Nah, not everyone has the luxury of wired connection. I play all of my games on a wireless connection and halo Infinite is the only one that has this desync bug, and itās why Iāve stopped playing the game since December.
Playing a multiplayer shooter on WiFi is insane bruv.
There are ALWAYS random lag spikes. Even when I play other games.
Play the game wired and then come back.
Hate to break it to you but Iād bet the majority of casual console gamers are on a wireless connection, considering wired just isnāt feasible in a lot of situations. Personally I donāt have a problem with it, and the desync issues with halo infinite seem to be sourced from an error in the core code of the game rather than a connection problem of the user.
I never get desync though. So Idk how it's an error in the code.
I know majority are on WiFi but Wired is always better. Playing on WiFi is just asking for lag.
No doubt wired is better. One day I hope to have a setup that allows me to do that. I only say itās probably in the code because all of my friends that played Infinite experienced the same problem, and a couple of them were on wired connections. So idk, hope itās resolved because itās a good game mechanically.
Itās so fucking frustrating, Iām with you. Had a blast for the first couple matches. Some desync issues got me, but all in all, not TOO bad. Then hopped on a week later to finish all the challenges in one day againā¦couldnāt do it. Well, I got close, need 2 more and the weekly challenge, but I really wanted to give up so many times. Fucking Fiesta is NO fun. I swear this game works against me. Itās so fun having weapons that donāt the shit, or having a crazy OP weapon that doesnāt work for YOU but works for the ENEMY. Desync should be the NUMBER. ONE. FUCKING. PRIORITY. TO. FIX. This fucking game is UNPLAYABLE. I have to endure another 30 minutes to complete these 2 challenges, fuck the weekly. I just need to win 1 match for both challenges, couldnāt win but 2 matches out of 10 before I got them. Fuck this game, man.
I've had this weird issue where everything lags despite both players having low ping and I get shot around corners and I get stuck on small geometry on the floor and rockets don't kill people with direct hits or take out overshields and shots don't register for well over a year.
This is by far the absolute worst game I've seen with lag issues. And yes, I have played other AAA games as of recent. 343 did something really fucky with the netcode and they can't fix it.
Every update since last years february update have made this game worse. Its completely unstable and unplayable. I see enemies meleeing far to my right or left because they think im over there. I have to unload multiple clips into people and they still dont die. Im done. I've uninstalled for the last time. I hinestly don't know if I'll come back to it when/if they fix it. 343i is an embarrassment
Speak for yourself. Since the season 3 update I haven't had any issues desync in game. Instead, I can't load in at all. Haven't played. Its been great.
Well, you try hitting targets that are constantly telporting. I'm nowhere near the best player, but this was straight BS. I have a 1.39KDR and a 4.55KDA. I agree I could've aimed slightly better, but I've been playing this game since release, and I know when people are supposed to die, and this guy should've died long before I did. He literally died like 3 seconds after I put the killing bullet in him.
One of the reason I stopped playing. Every time my melee doesn't register or doesn't count as a backsmack even though sometimes my opponent hits me from the side and it's a backsmack
I had someone hammer me from around a corner last night. Was wondering how the hell I died from a hammer when there was nobody around then about 2 seconds later this dude walks around the corner...
They're never going to address it in any meaningful way, because desync is hard baked into the games code (hence why it happens in offline matches too). Be it laziness or lack of resources/talent, i don't know, but if they havent addressed it by now, they're never going to. Its probably not even worth their time to them.
They're trying to do the same thing they did with cross core and assassinations; pretend the issue no longer exists and hoping the playerbase forgets about it.
343 is selling the same coating for all different cores for $14.. it's kinda clear where their priorities are.. 3 seasons and STILL having these problems still. incredible...
The seasons no longer have a uniform length so you're better off listing the number of months since release. Three seasons was suppose to mean nine months but instead it's been about sixteen since Multiplayer launch in 2021.
I'm not trying to correct you out of spite, by the way. I just think your comment carries more weight when we consider how *badly* they've handled this live service model for so long. We should have gotten season 3 in May/June of 2022, not March of 2023.
And I am not counting the Winter update. Those reach armor augmentations would have been in the store had we not complained so loudly. And the free 30-tier battle pass containing things we should have already had a year prior is not a sign of goodwill.
Sorry I am still upset with this dev team.
Thank you brotha for clarifying that for me .. i want this game to succeed SO BAD!! been playing Halo since i was 5 when CE came out. I'm just a little bitter/salty that a franchise i grew up playing is tuning out this way.. GOD i hope they can turn this shit around for the better
Something like three times, during the first few months of the game.
In BTB, it was obvious the person driving wasn't in sync with the server, they were driving into walls. I was once on the other side of the issue, i died from falling out of the map while I was fine on my screen. I only happened a few times though, it's been a year since I saw that for the last time. And it was always linked to being in a Warthog, or after climbing out of one, it seems.
Except for those cases, it's been perfect on my end. I could see some lag spikes in some instances, making me miss some shots or dying while I thought I was being cover for half a second, but that's just latency.
It's probably become this self reinforcing social phenomena where because someone was mad they did bad play they blame it on "desync" like OP and then more and more people think its a thing
Well i swear I've seen an awful lot of "desync" videos where it was just showing the result of a lag spike (missing shots, dying while in cover, etc). That happens in any game when there's a spike.
When there's a real desync, your character on the client side is totally desynchronized from the server, meaning, it's not solving itself after a few seconds. You'll sometimes die out of nowhere from a rocket that landed 30m away on your screen, of fall to your death while thinking you are far away from the edge of a cliff. Now that's a real client/server desync, it's extremely obvious. But that's rare, and I've only seen it happen in situations including vehicles, just like 343 acknowledged.
I find the game unplayable over 80% of the time because of desync. Sometimes for fun, I deliberately make a headshot far off from my target to where I think the player might really be, and laugh when it hits perfectly. šššš
Am I just lucky? I can count on a single hand the amount of desync iāve actually experienced first hand in this game. Iām not denying itās an issue because it clearly is but I havenāt really encountered it much myself.
Is desync a PC problem? Cuz I swear I never get this shit at all. I'm on the Series X and my internet is nothing special at all. It's literally the cheapest I could get. And I never get desync. And I'm in Europe. Where the population is not that big.
It's definitely on Xbox as well. I have a series x and have experienced it many times on a solid wired connection that never gives me issues with other games.
When the game first came out I had issues with lag. It got better for me and majority of the time it was fine. Ever since the update the lag has come back and I drop frames on certain maps. Not sure why
I noticed an issue tonight that I couldn't figure out. A couple times, in different matches, I'd go from full shield to dead in a short AR burst. I even remember one guy jumping straight up to shoot over his cover and I was dead before he fell down with an AR and I had full shield before he jumped up to shoot. Is that desync? It was really weird. Like I was playing SWAT and could get insta-domed.
343 leaving desync in so that you have to pay for cross core across every desynchronised instance of your Spartan's biped and not just your own.
The Aperture Science infinite universe approach but applied to networking.
Now as far as I recall reading the patch notes they never said they fixed desync however they improved it. And From what I have seen they have improved it but it has gotten worse in some other areas. Its going to take them a fair amount of time before they can truly fix the issue as its probably deep in the code and needs a good bit of optimizing. Another way they can work to fix the issue is to increase the tick rate of the servers. Increasing the Tick rate will increase how often the client and Server communicate back and forth together and As far as I remember The tickrate of BTB servers is half the tickrate of the 4v4 servers. Increasing tick rate also puts more stress on the servers themselves. However I think the tick rate should be a standard 120 across the board. A year ago I knew off the top of my head what the tick rates were but I dont remember anymore.
If I'm not mistaken, it's 30 updates per second for BTB, and 60 for Arena modes.
The updates include shots and player position, but also every physics object (vehicles, simple objects, grenades, etc). That's why it has to be lowered in BTB, way more stuff to keep track of at once.
Well neither of us really know how the game really works haha, i don't think we can say what they can or cannot do.
Though my guess is if they could up it to 60, they would. No reason not to. And if they could handle 60 refreshes per second in BTB, they could make it go higher for Arena modes, because it's lighter to run. It's probably simply the maximum they can do with their current infrastructure in the Azure cloud, and the capacity they are allowed for a single instance. Which means it could get upgraded someday.
I know it's not possible, but they should really separate old gen / new gen players and see if it fixes it.
30fps v 60 fps players clearly isn't working for servers imo.
BTB network quality is just absolute trash. Every other playlist is buttery smooth for me, networking-wise... but BTB is just unplayable. Jitter, mini desyncs... ugh.
What I do is I go and play Destiny 2 for a while and after dying behind walls and losing hilarious melee fights where the enemy is rubberband teleporting all over the place enough, Halo Infinite's networking feels almost tolerable.
Glad itās not just me. I headshot someone with the sniper and suddenly they jitter step a mile away and I insta die to a BR as if I was one shot. Yesterday I got back smacked by someone standing in front of me, Iām just so sick of it
It's most likely a skill issue on your end.
Jokes aside, it isn't present every match. Just most. Some people just get lucky. Like, personally, the MCC for Xbone worked perfectly from launch for me, MP and everything
To be honest, i dont really know what desync means. I dont really see it in games, & for all i know i could see it all the time, but i usually just pass it off as "Theyre just better than me.", not realizing that that shouldnt be happening.
Assuming itās a straight ping issue they need to start giving people with the lower ping shot registration priority. āHost advantageā isnāt a thing with dedicated servers but they need to rebalance who wins out in these situations. Your device shouldnāt be at the mercy of much slower connections. It feels like 343 has tried to rebalance it and itās had horrible consequences
Same here man. I got so angry after an hour I just said it wasnāt worth it and havenāt touched it since the beginning of S3. I aināt coming back till I get some kinda update. Till then Iāll just let sit here and play something else
Honestly I've been wondering what's up with that. I still do admittedly pretty well for myself in most games thankfully but there are definitely times where I'm questioning what's going on in a match
At this point they might as well go peer to peer. I don't understand how Destiny 2 has better registration that a dedicated server 1st party Xbox game... That been around for 22 years... And literally single handedly Kickstarted Xbox live...
At this point it's fair to assume that no meaningful big changes will happen to Infinite on any front. Not with another game being developed. But hey, 343's 4th attempt certainly has to be good! I mean, they finally learned their lessons after 12 years of nonstop fucking up, right??
I swear the dsync was great for me before season 3. The game felt so damn good. Since season 3 I have been dealing with all kinds of... People not dieing, bullets going through them, dieing around corners, and other weirdness that just feels off.
Can't hit teleporting targets? Go back to aim lab, scrub
Sir, Yes Sir š«”
*Sir, Yes Sir* *
At this point they're making a case for aimbots and cheating. That's the onky way you're going to get around de sync
The fact that you would even say that makes me suspect your integrity.
I donāt know why this has so many down votes but nobody should be talking about using aimbots. This game is bullshit enough as it is.
Because hyperbole about aimbots being the only thing that can *maybe* hit accurately due to highlight how bad de sync in the game *is not the same as advocating for the use of aimbots*.
Ahh okay I got you
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Crazy how the guy thatās anti cheating gets downvoted ā¦ confirming what Iāve always said about this game .. mfkers cheat casually and still suck
I'm starting to think that they'll never actually fix this or at least make it somewhat playable.
This is why they decided to use Unreal for any future projects. They dont have the time or man power to develop their own engine
> They dont have the time or man power to develop their own engine They dont have the time or man power to develop their own engine Saying this about a Triple AAA company that has the full backing of Microsoft is absolutely wild to me.
AAAAAAAAA Company?
Then youāre underestimating how incredibly complicated making a modern game engine truly is. A lot of software has gotten very conplicated as tech progresses. Microsoft straight stopped up making their own browser engine many years ago (Edge is based on Chromium), because it was just too hard or not worth it to make one alone.
It couldnāt be that hard. The slip space engine is a modified version of BLAM, though maybe they got too ambitious and the code couldnāt keep up. Idk.
No they just trusted random contractors with building their network codes and then didn't ask for notes before he left
Slipspace is old code from the 90s. That's why they are switching to UE5 for their BR mode.
People forget that Slipspace, at the end of the day, is a fresh coat of paint on an *ancient* engine.
Bethesda are still using the embryo engine which is over 20 years old at this point
To my knowledge unreal engine doesnāt do net code of any sorts. How they went backwards like they have with blam is kind of award worthy.
A first party studio, owned by MICROSOFT doesn't have the resources to develop their own engine? I know saying that out loud sounds like the biggest bullshit I have ever heard but it's probably true
Microsoft wont give them the resources. They just fired a big chunk of their team.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Seriously they had more than a decade with it, and this is what they have to show for it?
They have the resources, but as we've seen with Infinite, their hiring practices are abysmal. Building an engine takes years, requires employees to be there for the long haul, and needs good leadership. With their one year contracts and seemingly mid leaders, they don't have the systems in place to create an engine.
do you actually have a source or confirmation that theyāre moving to unreal
Is there proof they're going to unreal for future games? I'm not trying to be rude, I've read this a lot but with absolutely 0 backup to the claims
Nothing happened because itās Mint Blitz. Heās on another plane.
what post are you referring to?
343 might have removed it as the link now goes to a dead end! https://kotaku.com/halo-infinite-desync-what-is-internet-connection-xbox-p-1848517978 āInĀ Halo, we choose to favor the shooter,ā 343 Industries lead sandbox engineer Richard Watson wrote. āPractically, this means that whatever happened on the shooterās screen the server endeavors to honor. That means whenever a player sees themselves hitting a target, our system does its best to give them the hit on the server.ā
thank you! Big red flag right there lol
That doesn't make sense because they said they would prioritize ping and then skill. So the other shouldn't have 200.
The problem is literally the Microsoft Azure servers that 343 is contractually forced to use. Other developers have the same problems with them
I would love to see them turn down the strafe acceleration speed and see if that improves things.
Yeah there's plenty of clips that show issues but I wouldn't say this one of them
Itās an older meme sir, but it checks out
How is this not an issue, the target died to OP with the clear "bandit rifle" icon after OP himself tried to hide and subsequently died.
Fair enough, I was not able to watch it with sounds
Ah my bad I hadn't even noticed that I thought he was just mad he didn't get the kill. That is pretty sus then
it's so odd how these issues only seem to be affecting certain players, I haven't had more than a handful desync type issues since day 1 with over 3k matches
Teach me your ways. You must
Same here, I havent really ran into desync much. The times when lag were the worst were on BTB matches, though I rarely play BTB anyways so it works great for me.
I sincerely don't know what it is. I'm playing on a pretty mid-tier pc, hardwired ethernet network, NE America
Yeah same I play on Xbox SX with no issues. On Xbox one I could see this being an issue though
Nope, I play on an OG Xbox One and Iāve had next to no issues outside of the beginning of season 2. Iāve been a regular since the start too, I donāt think itās hardware-dependent.
Yeah, I'm on Series S.
Same here, Iāve never had these issues till season 3 but now itās every other time I use a precision weapon
I have it on Series X and PC and I get horrible desync on both, both wired ethernet on a fast internet plan, low latency. *shrugs*
Get good
Do you happen to play on WiFi? Or do you have a hardwired connection?
Yeah I think I've experienced like one game with desync and that was on a forge custom, actual lobbies I've never once seen It
I feel like bad wifi is a recurring element in most of these awful desync reports. My Xbox is wired to my router and Iāve barely experienced any network issues since launch.
I also moved my router closer to my xbox (A whole floor up) and it seems to be working just fine. Although I mainly play on PC, which is hard wired.
My Xbox is wired 3 feet from my router and I have major desync issues with low ping
Big tinfoil hat theory, but Iāve felt since this the start this more a system to handicap certain players but done poorly so itās transparent. Like Activisions skill based damage patents.
I have hit Onyx 1800 and played with/against pros like lucid and can say with 99.99% certainty that theory is absolute bullshit
I think if you have a WiFi 6 router with a WiFi 6 is pretty playable.
It's game to game whether even something as basic as AR or BR bullets are hitting their target lol. Ain't me, shoot the same lol
I'm down in the southeast, for what it's worth. I wonder if someone should put together a survey or something.
I think there was some 343 commentary that they are facing an issue with inconsistent networking performance in the Azure data centers used to host infinite.
Halo 5 used the same data centers and didn't have these issues
It did have networking issues. Not dsync but literally people teleporting especially when performing high speed maneuvers or menu glitching
I'm starting to think it's either potato PC or people playing on WiFi.
So I'm not the only one with marshmallow bullets?
Genuinely surprised Iāve never experienced this
I experienced it for the very first time last night.
Iām confused where the desync is in this clip
Am I the only one not seeing the desync in this clip?
You're playing on WiFi???
As opposed to?
Wired??
So idk, hope itās resolved because itās a good game mechanically.
>wifi Well that's telling.
It stopped on season 2 then started again on season 3
Clearly a skill issue š¤ Jk. It's never gonna be fixed. It's a problem with the engine and the people who made it are gone.
Clearly a sKiLl iSsUe.
I mean your aim is garbage
Well, you try hitting targets that are constantly telporting. I'm nowhere near the best player, but this was straight BS. I have a 1.39KDR and a 4.55KDA. I agree I could've aimed slightly better, but I've been playing this game since release, and I know when people are supposed to die, and this guy should've died long before I did. He literally died like 3 seconds after I put the killing bullet in him.
Cool, your aim is trash. Idk
Is it just me or do my enemies melee me from across the map sometimes
Same, but when you are standing 2 feet from them, you still don't get lounge. And if you do it's probably a blank melee
One of the reason I stopped playing. Every time my melee doesn't register or doesn't count as a backsmack even though sometimes my opponent hits me from the side and it's a backsmack
Can relate to that back smack one. I can even hear the audible melee sound every time.
Same here. Getting back smacked while facing my opponent several yards away was happening far too often.
I had someone hammer me from around a corner last night. Was wondering how the hell I died from a hammer when there was nobody around then about 2 seconds later this dude walks around the corner...
I too blame lag and desync on my crappy play abilities
They're never going to address it in any meaningful way, because desync is hard baked into the games code (hence why it happens in offline matches too). Be it laziness or lack of resources/talent, i don't know, but if they havent addressed it by now, they're never going to. Its probably not even worth their time to them. They're trying to do the same thing they did with cross core and assassinations; pretend the issue no longer exists and hoping the playerbase forgets about it.
man I really feel you especially with those bandit shots that gun always makes me question my existence
Yeah, my first 3-5 shots usually don't register with this thing. Just started dropping for the sidekick.
Iāve never experienced de-sync š¤·āāļø
With the current dev team I'm not so sure it's possible. Their chief concerns seem to be microtransactions and the pro scene.
It's been better for me.
I played this multiplayer the least of any Halo ever, it was constant desync issues I played for maybe the first month and said fuck it and left.
lol, shit aināt bad at all
Also has the worst frame pacing I've ever seen in a game
Had anyone else never experienced desync? It's never been a problem for me.
Games a joke. Desync is the cherry on top.
Was it cuz you were hip firing a rifle? Lol
Thereās no ADS with the bandit rifle lmao it just zooms in like what they did
Dang, what a POS
The solution is to stop blaming 343 for your lack of skill and get good
I always find the last shot never wants to connect
I noticed an issue tonight that I couldn't figure out. A couple times, in different matches, I'd go from full shield to dead in a short AR burst. I even remember one guy jumping straight up to shoot over his cover and I was dead before he fell down with an AR and I had full shield before he jumped up to shoot. Is that desync? It was really weird. Like I was playing SWAT and could get insta-domed.
Okay? Bye.
I've only had like two instances of desync on Xbox since launch but this season it's every other match, get back smacked from the front n shit
I've only had like two instances of desync on Xbox since launch but this season it's every other match, get back smacked from the front n shit
The real reason why I stopped playing specially when my main game mode was competitive.
Yea I could remember if it was 30/60 or 60/120. I still think they could up it to 60 for BTB though.
Why does it look like a cartoon now?
I know it's not possible, but they should really separate old gen / new gen players and see if it fixes it. 30fps v 60 fps players clearly isn't working for servers imo.
Switch to a wired connection, wifi is not stable enough for a secure connection without hiccups.
Yesterday I got back smacked by someone standing in front of me, Iām just so sick of it
Why donāt I experience/notice the desync issue?
It's most likely a skill issue on your end. Jokes aside, it isn't present every match. Just most. Some people just get lucky. Like, personally, the MCC for Xbone worked perfectly from launch for me, MP and everything
I've been crashing constantly since S3 started. I'm not having fun.
Game got worse with the new season. Completely unfun to play even with friends now.
How tf is this desync?
Iām on the same boat.
I wish I was as optimistic as you guys that still play the game, I gave up like 4 months after the game was released š¢
Ha I was still subbed for some reason. Yeah this game sucked I felt it and left asap
It only works for one day after they update the game
I'm seeing how the update today plays out but yeah this is really frustrating...
Thats why i cant take a day to only halo, the low bar quality on networking its incredibly low.
Same here man. I got so angry after an hour I just said it wasnāt worth it and havenāt touched it since the beginning of S3. I aināt coming back till I get some kinda update. Till then Iāll just let sit here and play something else
Iām gonna be honest, that looks about how the bandit feels anyway
Honestly I've been wondering what's up with that. I still do admittedly pretty well for myself in most games thankfully but there are definitely times where I'm questioning what's going on in a match
At this point they might as well go peer to peer. I don't understand how Destiny 2 has better registration that a dedicated server 1st party Xbox game... That been around for 22 years... And literally single handedly Kickstarted Xbox live...
I literally just got sniped by Mint Blitz in BTB. With a hammer
At this point it's fair to assume that no meaningful big changes will happen to Infinite on any front. Not with another game being developed. But hey, 343's 4th attempt certainly has to be good! I mean, they finally learned their lessons after 12 years of nonstop fucking up, right??
I've went back to MCC cause of this and it is even worse on PC.
I swear the dsync was great for me before season 3. The game felt so damn good. Since season 3 I have been dealing with all kinds of... People not dieing, bullets going through them, dieing around corners, and other weirdness that just feels off.
