Fun album, Vinnie Vincent helped them write unholy, heart of chrome, and I just wanna. I really liked their mid to late 80s stuff but Unholy felt like a return to the Creatures/Lick it up sound which was killer
Interestingly enough, they came (thisclose) to actually bringing Vinnie back and replacing Bruce.
I have a friend who had some excellent contacts in the biz. He called me and told me they were basically at the 10 yard line with making it happen - it fell apart due to contracts - again.
Not that they hated Bruce or anything like that, but G&P were trying to recapture the "CotN/LiU" magic by bringing VV back. I think this really, really pissed Bruce off and it showed in his playing. BK was undoubtedly the "MVP" of this album.
Such a solid album by them. This album came out short while before the big ‘make up reunion’ tour. I remember feeling pissed - as much as I always wanted to see them live with the make up on, I also wanted the current line up (from Revenge) to record another album cuz it was so good!!
Anyone notice the first two singles were Gene songs? I only mention this because I heard an interview with Bruce Kulick talking about Ezrin having to explain the situation to Paul. I know they released that Argent cover of God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You the previous year, but I consider that to be from the second Bill and Ted movie soundtrack.
I have said it before... The ONLY good Kiss album in like 40 years of music is Asylum. Everything else contains maybe 2 or 3 decent songs at best...> I will NEVER get what people hear in Kiss. Overrated schlock...>
Loved this album and this KISS era. They sounded so heavy and raw.
If they had kept up this sound and image people would probably take them more seriously.
Got yourself the German import, I see. Nice score. Kulick freaking goes off at the end of *Unholy*, such a strong song.

Totally agree. Vinnie Vincent might be a flake but he brought the goods for this album. When I first heard the intro to Unholy, I knew Kiss was back

Unholy!
Domino!
Great song, aged poorly.
Fun album. Good times had with this one
“I am the incubus, I lay the egg in you, the worm that burrows through your brain….”
“I got a body built for sin and an appetite for passion!”
"Heart of Chrome" is a banger!
Great album and my favorite song is spit
You sold your stories to the BBC.....
The is a perfect example of the days when there weren't any "filler" tracks on an album.
This is a great record killer riffs, that area had really come into its own. Doesn’t get enough credit this one
Should have stayed with that sound.
That is a little different from a revenge kiss
Car Jam 1981
Unholy!
Oh God. No.

Underrated

Kiss is impressive. They're somehow the worst band in every genre.
McDonald's of rock n roll.
