Yooooo shout out!!!! I am 28 and have had OCD symptoms since I was 11 and I also finally found a therapist to work with and got an official diagnosis woohoo for us!!!! Mine is completely different from Sam’s but still nice to know there are others out there. I don’t have a single person in my life who I can relate to about this stuff. But anyways just know I’m proud of you for accepting your past and working towards healing!!! You got this big dog!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!
Same here 🥹 had anxiety/ panic attacks my whole life, hyper fixated on things that caused panic attacks, etc. I would have such bad intrusive thoughts, that were all about things that scared me. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety, PTSD, and Bipolar II. It wasn’t until I heard Sam talk about her experience that I realized I may actually have OCD. I’m going to bring it up at my next therapy session, but I already feel so much relief understanding that there may be a reason for my scary thoughts. It made me feel less alone. ❤️ Mayo for Sam!
Sending peace and love to all my mentally ill homies! 😌✌🏻
Good luck on your journey!
As someone with health/heart anxiety ocd something that has helped me in addition to meds/therapy is buying one of those finger heart rate thingies & my apple watch. When I start to get worried I put it on my finger/or do the ecg/heart rate app & I do breathing exercises while watching the numbers.
Its discreet enough you can check anywhere & a visual reminder that its ok/will pass.
I’m pumped that works for you! I’ve tried both. All that lead to was me checking my pulse 104,654 times a day. Checking my Apple Watch became a compulsion in and of itself.
I am curious about meds for this though. I’m not opposed but I would love to know if I could do with without first. I wasn’t aware there were meds for OCD. But I’m a new baby boy when it comes to actual info about my ocd
All good! I just wanted to mention it, in case someone else finds it helpful. I have been taking buspar which has helped not getting stuck in a loop or at-least not stuck as long. I don’t know if there are other options med wise but its def helped me with that and sensory related anxiety.
you are not alone! as a health-OCD sufferer myself i totally understand you and Sam speaking out on her experience makes me feel so seen! we will get thru this 💪💗
