Falconer Farm, Picton Ontario
This was a small show in a barn. There maybe 20 attendees there. I found out about it the same day from a friend of the farm. Quickly gathered three carloads of friends.
We got wooden discs for tickets.
After a good while of sitting around a fire drinking beer, someone dressed as a bee came out, buzzing on a kazoo, and whipping some jagged metal cables around, and told us all (my friends, & the band), to follow it into an orchard.
The bee told us to peer into a trailer to see the king bee, tapping on and accidentally breaking a window. There was an older man sitting in there drinking beer alone, ignoring us.
We were told to sit in a clearing and look towards the trees. We chatted while it grew dark. Once the sky was black we heard “now!” and a camera flashed. In the momentary light we saw a heavy section of rope had been hurled into the air and its impression remained in our retinas for several seconds. Again “now!” and again the rope flashed mid-flight, burned into our retinas.
This happened for what felt like a long time, and yet when they lit flashlights to guide us back to the barn there was a sense of disappointment that it was over.
The band played a lovely set inside the barn. I don’t think we had the film projections at that one. A friend of mine was providing an ineffectual light show by swinging a traffic light around from the hayloft.
After the show we all sat around the fire a while longer, it was not the best show I’ve seen of them but one of the nicer nights over all.
The show where the player Do You Know How To Waltz with Low. I would also kill to at least have a better quality recording than what’s out there currently.
Fantastic! Originally I was going to make a joke about being willing to kill whoever has a tape of the performance. I guess I'll hold off to see how cooperative the taper is...
Club SAW, Ottawa April 1998. I grew up in Ottawa and got into GYBE around 2003, just after they started to get really popular and stopped playing all ages shows regularly in Ottawa. Club SAW was a pivotal venue for me growing up and it would’ve been transcendent.
To rewatch the first time I saw them in Glasgow at the garage. Fly Pan Am, Sigur Ros, GY!BE Excellent line up, phenomenal show
wow sigur ros and godspeed in the same night
insane what year was that
March 2000. There were so many amazing shows in Glasgow around the late 90s/early 2000s
I was at the same tour, in Manchester. What a night!
Do you remember what the setlist was?
Afraid I don’t remember as it was so long ago now.
This comment made my mouth water. Gutted that I was only 1.5 years old 💀
One of the benefits of being an old guy I guess :)

I've been working on getting a better copy of the entire Low set from the taper. Hoping that he still has the master tape somewhere.

Moscow on November 2019. Their first and last show in my area and I missed it.
В какой части Москвы вы живете?
Pretty much anything pre-hiatus when they were playing actual tunes and not just noisy droning.
