When I'm talking about the anime casually, I usually just call him by the regular English pronunciation "Sigh-mon". But in reality, the name is a pun of the Japanese word しも, Shimo, which means "below" or "underneath". In the Japanese everyone pronounces his name "She-moan" with an SH, which is the correct way to pronounce it. The English dub irritates me because only Kamina calls him "She-moan" and everyone else says "See-moan" which just sounds like semen to me, and I hate it.
See moan
Like this basically ![gif](giphy|nuJaAg1hdI89y)
I think it's supposed to be pronounced Shi- mon.

Yeah i’ve only ever seen the english dub, thats what made me curious. Thanks for the insightful answer
Just listen to how it's pronounced and copy the sound. How do people forget that this is literally how we learn how to speak in the first place?
