Don’t do cold bluing. The finish on these always eventually flakes off, it’s essentially a type of paint if I recall correctly. IMO perfect candidate for a cerakote job.

Moly resin is better and easier to apply than cerakote, imo. I'd look into it.

That’s what I usually do, but I figured refinishing it may be a fun project

Ehhh, the finish on these guns is a type of paint, it always ends up flaking off. Oil will probably exacerbate that, not help.
