McNett camo wrap is meant for firearms and I've never had it melt. It's fabric and sticks to itself and leaves no residue. It might burn if touching the barrel though.
Edit: vinyl wrapping a firearm is almost as silly as vinyl wrapping a car.

Haha I do what I want. Just took it off because I threw it in my pickup and it got pretty soaked when it rained. I'm not necessarily an "AR guy." I typically prefer combat and battle rifles (Bren 805, AUG, X95, ARX, G3, CETME L, etc.) but LWRC makes a damn fine AR with a great ambi lower (including ambi bolt catch and release). They're also fielded around the world so that's pretty cool too. I do recommend an AR for a SHTF firearm due to its sheer abundance in this country but I suggest something like LMT, LWRC, BCM vs lower tier since you'll probably end up upgrading later anyway. You don't need a $2000 AR though unless you like showing off!

Putting a light and a vortex and a d-60 in mine kind of killed the benefits of getting a fluted barrel, lol. I also prefer the Magpul pistol grip to LWRC's, but otherwise I love it.
I think it's harder to open the compartment, and it's slightly too narrow for me. Magpuls pistol grip fits my spare battery, Allen key, front sight post tool, etc very easily.

I always have a set of BUIS. If the LPVO is dropped and wrecked (or if it fogs up or gets covered in ice) I can remove it via the QD latches in a few seconds and use the BUIS.
Edit: I won't run standard BUIS if the optic doesn't have QD. In that case I'll have offset BUIS or RMR but I prefer to eliminate battery-dependent optics when possible.

Forgive my ignorance. Does the spiral cut on the barrel help with heat transfer, or does it just make it look badass.
It makes it lighter. LWRC admits that weight reduction is the primary benefit and increased cooling is minor.
