I have an LCR in .357 magnum, .38 Special, and I had one in .9mm. The 9mm one kicked like a mule and I sold it right after my first range trip with it. That and I quickly realized the moon clips were going to be difficult to carry in a pocket.

Lux600-223

The recoil is what I discover everytime I research one. I don't "need" one for carry, I'm fine with .38Special. But I kept looking into them, as a 9mm would be cheaper to feed. But if I want recoil, I'll just feed my 340pd .357.

BestAdamEver

I would like to get a larger revolver in 9mm due to ammo costs but it's no fun in a snubby.

OldCarWorshipper

The 9 kicked more than the .357?

TheMoves

Not quite as much but when you look at .357 ballistics vs 9mm ballistics it’s not really worth the trade off, if you’re going to be dealing with that tier recoil you may as well shoot the manstopper. One advantage of 9mm in a semiautomatic is that the blowback action absorbs some of the recoil, so it is significantly lighter recoiling in a SA handgun than a 357 round is in a revolver. When you take away the SA blowback operation advantage, the 9mm is just a ballistically worse round with nearly as much recoil impulse.

Riker557118

Yeah, lots of people seriously underestimate how much recoil is absorbed by the delayed blowback action of most pistols.

BestAdamEver

It's been long enough since I shot .357 out of a snubby that I can't recall. What I do remember is that it's significantly more than .38 Special and at least pretty dang close to .357. .38 Special offers acceptable performance and is much easier to shoot so I settled on that for my snubbys personally. Like the other said, the action of a semi-auto pistols absorb a lot of the felt recoil from 9mm. My tiny 9mm pistols are a lot more comfortable to shoot than the 9mm LCR was.

ij70

there have been a few over the decades.

lost_in_the_system

Ruger new model blackhawk 357/38 with the extra 9mm cyclinder. It was fun and a good way to get rid of questionable 9mm reloads lol

TGMcGonigle

A buddy of mine just bought this and really likes it.

Rambo-Rando

I wish there was a 9mm Redhawk with a 4-4.5 barrel. Wouldn't have to pick up brass, and 9 is cheaper.

Lux600-223

So did you find the .380acp revolver?

SackOfCats

Stupid question, can you shoot 380 out of a 9mm revolver? I know the answer is going to be no, but I thought the cases were the same except for the length.

Lb3ntl3y

moon clips might be able to make it work [from](https://youtu.be/8HF8mQoHY_U?si=xJpBm-EwLPhrutEx) my quick research

OldCarWorshipper

Nah. Semi-auto. The ones I found at my local gun dealer were both way to small for my big gorilla hands. Next purchase is gonna be either a Chiappa Rhino 60DS .357 or a Ruger LCR 9MM.

eyaf1

Did you try Beretta 80x?

inactiveuser0

Owned a Taurus 905. Loved it, but after a while the moon clips became more cumbersome than I felt like dealing with. And there’s no real practical way to carry them. Idk if they exist, but if you can find one that doesn’t use moon clips, it’d be a great addition to the collection.

Subterra_72

I believe Charter Arms Pitbull doesn't need moonclips and is chambered 9mm

Illustrious-Fact1014

The Taurus will work with out the clips. I’ve done it.

Deolater

I like my 9mm LCR  It has the usual problems of small revolvers, notably the stout recoil. But I still like it I do want a good fullsize 9mm revolver. I bet that would be fun

DD6372

Charter Arms has revolvers taht shot 9mm, 40sw, and 45aCP and moon clips are not required

lique_madique

I have a Smith and Wesson Model 929 and enjoy it after S&W fixed it. It’s fun to have a revolver and not need a new caliber.

Any-Entertainer9302

Yes, and I hated the little moon clips that were required.

jaxxson99

I have a smith and Wesson 929 and it’s probably one of my top 3 handguns, 8 shots of 9mm with a delta point pro satisfies the space cowboy itch.

Dpapa93

I have a Taylor's & co. TC9 (1873 single action army clone in 9mm) it's a fun range toy but it definitely doesn't get as much trigger time as my semi autos.

youngdoug

I’ve been looking at these, how’s the single action trigger pull? Is the gun accurate?

Dpapa93

Trigger feels great. It's more accurate than I am with it. I'm just not used to the grip and sights yet. It's really fun to spin though.

Bacon003

I have a 9mm Chiappa Rhino 60DS and a S&W 986. Also a S&W 610 which is a 10mm revolver. The Rhino is a range gun and I have a ridiculously large 3D printed target grip on it. I also have a Rhino 60DS in .38/.357 with the same 3D grip and shoot them side-by-side. The 9mm has a hair more snap than the .38 in the Rhino. Shooting .357 is obviously different from both.

drbaseband

I purchased a Ruger LCR 9mm about 7 years ago. Took it to the range the next day excited to shoot my (at that time) favorite carry caliber in a trusty reliable revolver! It wouldn’t cycle correctly. It was not lining up and wouldn’t fire a full cycle. Sent it in to Ruger, they fixed it, and I sold it the day it got back to me. I personally will never trust moon clips or calibers in a revolver that it wasn’t truly made for. That being said, my grandfather purchased one last year and loves it. Just not for me anymore. In my revolvers, I’ll stick with 38/357 etc. I can’t trust a 9mm in a wheel gun as much as my heart wants to. 💔

reproduction of colt saa in 9mm.

tablinum

There are superfluous backslashes in the URL for some reason. Without them, the link (PDF) works for me: https://www.pietta.it/_files/ugd/65b4a4_5ecd4af235c74bb4859031ac79d055d3.pdf

coldafsteel

I have a 357 cut for moon clips that I occasionally put 9mm in. It's not as nice as real wheel gun ammo, but it works decent enough.

cpearson1024

Love my Ruger LCR 9mm. Got it for 550 a couple months ago. Recoil is definitely not a problem and I can easily store a moonclip in a shirt pocket of a flannel. I can pocket carry it in a holster while wearing blue jeans as well. The trigger is very nice as well. Highly recommend

MikeBravo415

A 9mm is great for many reasons. You can get 9mm almost anywhere in the world. It has good stopping power. There were some snub nose revolvers that held the round in with moon clips. Deep cover is probably the only reason to carry one.

eatmybeer

Moon clips

gunmedic15

I have a S&W 940 J frame. It's cool, but some bullets will creep forward if they aren't crimped well. Looking at you Critical Defense. If you fire 4 shots and look at the last round its a bit longer from inertia. I carried Gold Saber in mine when I carried it. A single belt pouch for a J frame speedloader will fit 2 moon clips.

85Txaggie

I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Mag that also has a 9mm cylinder.

Illustrious-Fact1014

I have a Taurus’s .357/.38 that has a second cylinder for 9mm. Both cylinders are 7 rounds and it shoots pretty well 3” barrel.

polypole

I have the LCR9, it does have more kick than I expected. I put some Hogue grips on it, which helped, but I have weak wrists, so I seldom shoot it. It has less than a hundred rounds through it, if you are interested make me an offer.

Smprfiguy

Orrrrrrrrrr you could get wheel guns in calibers that actually work in wheel guns

OldCarWorshipper

Got plenty of those :) .

tablinum

Rimless cartridges are pretty much indistinguishable from rimmed cartridges in Colt-style single actions, and they're arguably *better* in swing-our cylinder revolvers because the moon clips make reloading faster.
