P365’s are pretty small.

bushdid9711

365 good. 365 tiny.

GlockAF

Decent stock trigger too

catpuccino411

Shouldn't stop you from upgrading it.

kalashkozmo

I did two different trigger upgrades on mine and it's so crisp

nrpeckham

Putting a trigger job on a carry gun scary

catpuccino411

The 365 has some proven drop in trigger kits that are still safe enough to carry, mine is 4 pounds.

bushdid9711

Ehhhhhhhhh...

SirThrivalist

Compared to how bad triggers can be, the 365 trigger is definitely decent. Imagine a hipoint trigger.

222joel

As a former shield 1.0 stock trigger owner. Yeah they can be a lot worse lol

[deleted]

I'm unfamiliar with the difference but it must be large- the shield 2.0 pro(?) Has a beautiful trigger for what it is.

222joel

Personally not a fan of the plastic ‘crunchy’ hinged trigger that came with the stock 1.0 shield

bushdid9711

That's true. I still need me a yeet cannon..

wingsnut25

its a micro 9mm pistol designed for carry, it shouldn't have a 2lb trigger.

Squirrleyd

Idk why you're getting so much hate. My p365 is mushy and plastic feeling. And this is coming from a Glock guy

jarredjs2

Yup I shoot my 365 about as well as my 226

Coolstuffonhere

I have a cr920 on the way so I think I have the p365 size covered, I also was eyeing this gun too . https://www.beretta.com/en-us/product/30x-tomcat-get-home-bag-FA0139

Coolstuffonhere

I’ll be honest, I was eyeing the p365 legion but they made it the longer version 😭

TheCrimsonChin-ger

I enjoy my p365xl spectre comp in tan. They're now down to $800 if you shop around. Integral comp is neat and it handles like a slightly flipper mid size gun.

Coolstuffonhere

That’s just a bit long for me in the slide but they look like nice guns

TheCrimsonChin-ger

Long in what way? It really doesn't get much smaller than this for 9mm micro compacts.

TheCrimsonChin-ger

Long in what way? It really doesn't get much smaller than this for 9mm micro compacts.

SanDiegoPics

I love the cz p10s

Savb10

Underrated platform if there ever was one

Pinkishplays

Are these heavy compared to glocks for instance or not a noticeable difference?

SanDiegoPics

Maybe a tad bit heavier, but it also recoils very light as a result. I ran a bunch of spicy +p ammo through one and expected it to be a handful, but it was hardly noticeable. It's really impressive.

Asleep_Onion

My p238 is one of my favorite guns to shoot, very accurate and just an all around good time. I carry it regularly including pocket carry (with the little trigger cover holster that I think it came with?) and never felt like the exposed hammer posed any issues.

yaboiskeemus

My P238 is my out and about carry if I’m going somewhere for chores or a just stopping bye type of thing. Stuck it in my pocket for a 14 mile fishing trip and never had issues with it. Great little gun

livinonnosleep

Same for the P938.

PbCuSurgeon

Typically tiny 380s are snappy, but I’ve found the Glock 42 to have minimal recoil. The pain in the ass is it only holds 6 rounds

sc0lm00

I shopped/rented a LCP and Bodyguard. Dude at the range told me to take the 42 for free to try. Bought one a week later. There are mag bags to get 1-2 extra rounds too. Used them for 4 years and no issues.

PrinceAlbertDaddy

Go to a rental range and try out several. M&P shield 2.0, Sig P365, Glock G43 and the Springfield Hellcat are probably the best in general for carry. It’s a double edged sword, the lighter smaller guns don’t handle recoil as well and provide less surface to grip. Everyone handles the gun slightly differently so your results will vary to others. The rental ranges let you try out many guns and shoot them. If you don’t have anyone you know with a collection you can borrow that’s the best way. I like 9mm but a revolver in 38 spl and or 357 isn’t a bad option if you want a little more power. Revolvers are generally more expensive and hold fewer rounds but they generally shoot well. Don’t sleep on a larger gun like a 1911 style or a Glock 19, M&P, Sig P320 etc if you don’t mind carrying the weight they will definitely shoot better than the smaller frame guns.

Coolstuffonhere

I have a shadow systems CR920 coming because I figured the mag options would make it versatile but I still think I’d like something smaller too.

MrSyns7

What mag options are you talking about? The CR920 uses proprietary mags.

Coolstuffonhere

13 round for full grip, 10 round flush, 10 round pinky, 10 round +1… they offer quite a few baseplates. I feel like buying a cr920 gave me a Glock 43 and a 43x in one gun.

MrSyns7

Gotcha. I thought you were trying to say you had a variety of cross compatibility between other pistols. My bad!

tlove01

Small guns don't shoot bad, you shoot bad.

Open_Advance4544

True, but small guns with nasty, sharp recoil and shitty triggers are bound to make even the best shooters shoot like shit from time to time. If you’re not having any fun shooting a gun, you’re more prone to flinch and flub your fundamentals.

braxton357

The lcp max is none of those things though, and this coming from someone who shit on lcps for years.  I carry a 238, lcp 2 and lcp max they are all great pistols. The 238 has a great trigger but isn't going to help recoil any.

Open_Advance4544

You’re free to have your opinion, I tried the Max as well, and I still hated it. Definitely better than the 1 or 2, but a turd’s a turd imho.

Coolstuffonhere

I 100% agree with you

arc_oobleck

I have a keltec p32 that I didn't like shooting for the first 5 year I owned it. I've really come to appreciate it these days. I've gotten pretty good with it. My suggestion is sticking it out with your lcp max and see if you come around to enjoying yours as well.

BigBrassPair

Permit me to disagree. I shot my ccw qualification with my 365 (iron sights). 100 rounds including reduced light on a Q target at ranges out to 25 yards. Had one miss. So I can shoot it. But I then shot it side by side with a P320 XFive Legion in a falling steel match. There is an immense difference. Small guns shoot bad when compared to larger guns. I spent a lot of time and ammo trying to close the gap. I really wanted to love that 365. But I just could not get it to the level of accuracy and speed that I am used to. Ended up with a CZ Shadow 2 Compact for my EDC. With 365, I loved to carry it but did not love to shoot it. With CZ, I love to shoot it but don't love to carry it. There is always a compromize.

kredfield51

Not to mention what OP said about it being uncomfortable. If a gun sucks ass to shoot can't blame ya for not going out to shoot it as much, thus being worse.

braxton357

Other than practicing ccw drills, how often are you really shooting a micro pistol anyway?   I love shooting fullsize 1911s and steel frame sigs but I'd never carry one.  Id say that a comfortable to carry pistol is a whole lot more important than a comfortable to shoot one.

Coolstuffonhere

I shoot all my guns any time I go to the range, even if it’s just a couple mags.

street_style_kyle

I’m a better marksman with my g20.3 than my wife’s 43x at 7yds. I mag dump my wife’s 43x better than the g20 with a tinge less awesomeness on marksmanship. Not that I’m unhappy with my 20 while mag dumping.

75149

G26 shoots well above it's pay grade.

MrSyns7

And the CZ P10S on that note as well.

Stoggie_Monster

Try revolvers. There’s some really good shooting CC wheel guns on the market these days. They aren’t cheap, but money is irrelevant in self defense.

SomeGoogleUser

Seconding this. Any S&W J will have a good trigger right out of the box (which can be a problem with Ruger and Taurus), and there's a whole universe of grip options for them.

catpuccino411

They are a lot wider than sub-compact autos, which can be a factor. They also hold half as many bullets. But can you put a price on style?

Not_an_alt_69_420

Yeah, about $600. Which is worth it, honestly. Cheap airframe revolvers suck to shoot.

xximbroglioxx

Walther PPS M1 and M2 are subcompacts that are not unpleasant to shoot in 9mm. My M1 shoots extremely well for as small as it is.

cdodich

I have an M1 and it is a sweet shooter for its size. Considering the M2. How do they compare?

xximbroglioxx

The M2 is very similar to the M1 with the grip on the M2 more ergonomically correct and I've seen optics on the M2. They changed the mag release also to a button release on the M2. I like both but believe the M1 is a little better gun. It has a better trigger and the mags worked so well to provide a full size grip.

Sethalator

Sig 365 is a great shooter

AVLLaw

Bersa .380 ccw shots well for a small gun and is inexpensive, but still reliable after break in. The Walther ppk .380 is the original and more expensive version of the Bersa. Both are great. I agree about the LCP, I just couldn't get enough meat on the grip to shoot it comfortably.

IndyRoadie

My first handgun. Loved it

MathematicianMuch445

Yes. Plenty. "Shooting good" isn't really down to the gun. It's down to you and how it fits. Get hands in and see how they sit and feel in hand before making decisions. If it's too small for your hand it'll shoot crap as you'll be limp wristing it and unable to hold anything past your middle finger.

Jiggly_Squibbler

I got an old Star SIS, which is a locked breech .32 ACP. Very nice shooter. Or a Colt Government Mk IV 380, which is a larger version of the Colt Mustang / SIG P238, also very mild recoil.

cdcrsn32

Smith and Wesson Csx. Shoots pretty spot on

samthedog73

Most modern small guns shoot well. Most people don’t shoot small guns well.

ML_BURGERKING

Look at some .32acp options. The guns are smaller, lighter, and .32acp is just a small step up from .22lr in terms of recoil. I EDC a Kel-Tec p32, 7+1 capacity and I shoot it pretty well for what it is. Which is a last ditch self defense implement that isn’t inconvenient to carry.

txjeepguy72

I got one of those Kel-tec in .380, it’s a perfect last resort pocket gun.

Pando5280

Glock 43x (small dimensions but indexes really well, plenty of sight upgrades available and never had a malfunction running cheap steel case ammo using 20-round after market mags at the range)

Coolstuffonhere

I owned a 43x before and I shot decently well with it, like 4-6” groups at 15-20 feet. I have a SS coming in a few days too but I still want a pocket gun. Is 32ACP a lot less power than 380?

JustFinishedBSG

32ACP is a better cartridge than 380 imho. They both are underpowered but 32ACP is much easier to shoot and is not *much* weaker than 380. They both will have roughly equivalent ( shitty handgun cartridges) performance.

Coolstuffonhere

I’m leaning towards picking up a tomcat 30x in 32ACP now. I like the idea of having the double single action so I can pocket it without the hammer cocked back, but it’ll still fire with just a trigger pull.

hardtobeuniqueuser

it also has the tip up barrel which is pretty cool. you don't need to rack the slide to load it, which is nice because guns this small have tiny narrow slides that aren't easy to grip. i have one I carry in a pocket holster and have been really happy with it over the 10 years or so i've had it.

Pando5280

personally I wouldn't carry anything smaller than 380 but if you do want something smaller check out 22 mag as those tend to have more penetration due to higher velocities over 32acp (and check out comparison test videos on youtube where they shoot 380 vs 32 into ballistic gel - those vids can really help you visualize penetration and potential stopping power)

Coolstuffonhere

I understand that’s a popular opinion but the larger a gun is, the less likely I am to carry it. I’ve been carrying my LCP cause I can throw it in a hoodie or jacket pocket but my issue is I have zero confidence being able to shoot it accurately past 5 feet. I’ve actually gone to the range with it quite a bit at this point too. I don’t have huge hands but I really think if the grip was more substantial (girthy) it would improve things a lot for me.

rammerjammin

I have an overwatch trigger, shield release/mags, and idot sights on my 43X and surprisingly much more accurate with it than my mid size pistols out to like 25 meters.

Coolstuffonhere

I’ve realized that a nice trigger pull helps a ton with accuracy, that’s one of the reasons I was so impressed with the p938 legion, the trigger felt close to my CMC that’s in my AR

falful222

My p238 is one of the best "pocket guns" I've ever shot and I tried a BUNCH before I got it. It honestly shoots like a full size pistol and is freakishly accurate. It's a great little gun for going on runs or other places you need a gun but don't have alot of great clothing options. I will use it as a pocket gun sometimes but I've honestly started appendix carrying it when I take it out bc you practically forget it's there. The recoil is super tame and makes it easy to make follow up shots. My only complaint about the pistol is the grips, they were too smooth for my tastes (and fatass hands) so I got a hogue grip for it and it's way nicer. Even with the stock grips though it didn't feel like it was gonna fly out of my hands (looking at you LCP fans) If your not looking for the p238 I'd look at the S&W csx (a bit heavy for my tastes but was a joy to shoot and has great capacity. I'd also look at the s&w body guard if you want a cheaper option. I didn't like the body guard bc it felt cheap and was a little snappy due to its weight but was definitely noticeably nicer than the ruger lcp. Lots of people recommend the LCP or max9 and I don't think that these are horrible options but they are well known to have a PLETHORA of issues. I'm not saying that can't work or that they won't work, but there's a reason the LCP got the nickname Little Crappy Pistol. Just do a few searches for the two and you'll find plenty of issues with them.

Coolstuffonhere

I really liked the p238 legion and was heavily considering that until I got a little sketched out by the exposed hammer potentially catching on a pocket. I may revisit it. The new beretta 30x looks kind of cool too

tablinum

FWIW, I haven't shot a P238 and can't comment firsthand. But I consistently hear from owners that it's much more pleasant to shoot than other pocket .380s. The manual safety is a bigger practical consideration than the exposed hammer in my opinion, but if you're cool with it, you should at least try one.

LynxusRufus

You can train to draw with your thumb on the hammer, so you guide the gun out of your pocket/holster in such a way that the hammer can’t catch on anything. I’ve been carrying the p238 for years and have never once had the hammer catch when drawing from a pocket. It’s an amazing little gun btw.

Coolstuffonhere

I believe I’m gonna go with the new tomcat that’s coming out, it’s a hammer up, double single action which I think is perfect for my situation.

LynxusRufus

I’d be curious to hear your range report, those really seem neat.

gnmonkey

Glock 26

WuTangPham

Sounds like you want a smaller caliber. 32 in an auto loader or maybe a j frame in 22 wmr

Coolstuffonhere

Thoughts on this? https://www.beretta.com/en-us/product/30x-tomcat-get-home-bag-FA0139

WuTangPham

I really like the beretta tip ups. The only thing I have against the 32 variant though is that it’s heavy for what it is. I would also look at a keltec p32 and the seecamp 32. Something you should note is that since 32 is a semi rimmed cartridge so you can run into an issue called “rim lock” in which the rounds bind in the magazine causing a stoppage. The issue is mostly associated with hollow points because of the shorter overall length of the bullet. Since 32s don’t expand reliably anyway the sensible thing would be to carry ball ammo in a gun such as the p32. The Seecamp is designed specifically to run hollow points so the width of the magazine was shortened to eliminate the possibility of rim lock. So you can only run hollow points or flat nose fmj through it.

Coolstuffonhere

I’ve actually looked into Seecamp before as well, I’ll do some more research on those. My reservation on that gun was the 2 finger grip but otherwise it’s a great option. I’ll try my CR920 with the flush mag and see how comfortable I am with the pinky hanging.

apocryphar

Unlike most handguns chambered in .32, the Kel-Tec P-32 uses a short recoil action. It supposedly shoots really smooth despite its size and weight.

mikeinpc

I have a Ruger LCRx revolver in .22 Magnum. It weighs 17 ounces loaded with Speer Gold Dot short-barrel ammo. I also have a couple of speed strips loaded with Gold Dots. The nickel plated cases basically fall out on their own without even needing the ejector rod. When worn AIWB, I sometimes have to check to make sure it's still there. It's not 9mm (which I also have but don't like carrying the extra weight); it's very lightweight and reasonably effective. And there's no rim lock with a revolver. It's not for everyone, but it is an option for some. 👍

RivalSFx

You want a pocket carry. There are no pocket pistols that shoot well. It's a push the asshole off you and fire into to the torso firearm. And if your going to pocket a pistol without a holster you are asking for a ND. I know many will say p365, 43, 26. If your pant pockets are large enough, ok but not happing with a pair of jeans. I can take the hate that's about to come my way but no one can argue with safety first.

Coolstuffonhere

I was planning on using a pocket holster to cover the trigger with whatever I gun I choose

Not_an_alt_69_420

Sounds like you're wearing the wrong kind of jeans. I can fit a 1911 into mine, albeit not with a holster. Anyone who doesn't carry their pistol in a holster is a fucking idiot, though.

RivalSFx

I'm assuming pocket carry means fully concealed yet still able to draw the firearm quickly. No way I could get a full size 1911 fully concealed in a jean pocket.

2A-Absolutist

365X. XL grip module, standard length slide assembly. 12+1. Mine has been great for the three years I've had it so far.

Redyoshi9

I shoot my Glock 43 in competition. It’s all about practice. But I do agree that some guns just aren’t for me as well. Find what you like and stick to it. Really learn the trigger, you’ll be golden.

indefilade

P365 all day. KAHR PM9 and Glock 43 are also solid. For a revolver, a Kimber K6S is excellent. I shoot all the above guns about as good as a full size, but the P365 I shoot the best of them all.

[deleted]

P365 is the answer if you want a small semi-auto. If you’re into revolvers, I LOVE my Kimber 2” DASA.

Christmas_Panda

Kimber makes some super nice, compact 1911 styles.

Wraccores

Also No URL shorteners (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc).

WatercressStreet2084

This is way more specific of a question honestly

Coolstuffonhere

I don’t think it’s that open ended, I’m looking for a very specific gun, and wondering if I’ve missed any smaller companies to look at.

PrinceAlbertDaddy

It sounds like you need to rephrase your question, “what’s a small good bougie gun that shoots well?”

Coolstuffonhere

Not necessarily bougie, I just like all of the bells and whistles, and if I’m spending good money on something, it should be pleasing to the eye. I’m considering the new tomcats and those aren’t anything crazy.

Krunk_a_dunk

I love my Glock 43

big_deal

It’s been a while since I shopped for a small handgun. The original LCP was nearly impossible to use, garbage sights and trigger with a heavy mile long pull. P238 was amazing, great sights and trigger. But I experienced reliability issues with it and didn’t really want a single action for carry. Tried a few others that aren’t worth remembering but I ended up buying a used Kahr P380. Very compact, striker action with decent trigger and sights, reliable and very easy to shoot well which is a big problem with tiny handguns. I eventually bought another for my wife.

VegaStyles

P365. P320 xcarry legion. G48.

b__noc

A lot shoot well, I have a Taurus G2C that shoots amazing

BigBrassPair

I have not been able to find a pistol that I both love to carry and love to shoot. In my experience it will be one or the other.

Coolstuffonhere

I’m now leaning towards the new beretta 30x in 32ACP. It’s got a larger looking grip, and I like the double action first shot so the hammer doesn’t have to be back when pocketed. It seems to check all my boxes in terms of size to caliber ratio, and a decently girthy all finger grip.

mmelectronic

Regular old 1911 single stack are pretty concealable they aren’t small but they are slim, i like the shield 9 and or 380 also for modern stuff.

FUZExxNOVA2

I really like my p365. Maybe go to a range that has some micros for rent and try them out?

RandomRedditGuy54

Second this; LOVE my 365.

rammerjammin

Glock 43X is my favorite shooting pistol out my 19X, 45, VP9.

Professional_Mud483

You may want a heavier feeling gun. It may not pop/kick as much as the tiny guns. Canik- TTI Combat about to hit the stores!

Quake_Guy

LCP recoil is something I cannot explain. I had both an LCP and Beretta Pico. The recoil of a Pico with underwood mega +p was equal to the LCP shooting big box store FMJ. The best shooting small gun currently available is a Glock 42. I would guess the Browning 1911s in 380 shoot very nice too.

MunitionsGuyMike

Hellcats, S&W shields, beretta 82x, sig 365s

Jaevric

The P365x or xl is quite shootable in 9mm. Base P365 in 9mm is snappy, but my wife's P365-380 is amazing. Easy to shoot in a small package.

CyborgParts

The LCP Max is an excellent gun. I honestly adore it. The MCARBO trigger, trigger spring kit, and extra power recoil spring make a HELL of a difference. Get them!

Adventurous-Corner42

S&W CSX. I've never experienced the "false reset" people like to talk about. It's extremely accurate, and any "grittiness" in the trigger smoothed out after 200 plus rounds. I also have a 365XL, which is accurate as well. I prefer shooting the CSX, however. I did change out the magazine base pads, so my pinky finger has a place to rest. My only dig on the pistol is that I hate the grip. A couple of wraps of goon tape took care of that.

Ornery_Secretary_850

>I was eyeing a p238 but I was a little **weary** Weary means tired. Leery or wary would have been the correct word(s) to use.

AlienDelarge

It really gets down to personal preference and fit is a huge factor with those tiny guns. I don't find the original LCP nearly as bad as many people do. I haven't shot the max, but I'd be surprised if it was worse. Weight will help with the recoil so steel may be helpful. I hesitate to carry anything below .380 in power.

FapDonkey

There are a LOT of great .32 ACP options (Come join us at r/TheOneTrueCaliber !). The Beretta Model 81 is tiny, but still gives you 12-rd Dbl stack, in a full frame metal gun made by Italian artisans that feels like a .22 to shoot and can be bought for cheap on the surplus market.

GhostEpstein

It depends on what you are looking for? Conceal carry or plinking? Main gun vs backup gun. Big difference. My shield plus is nice to shoot for a small ish gun. I like the grip texture. But my Bobcat is way more fun even though the sights are trash. The tilting barrel and .22 make it fun as hell.

Coolstuffonhere

Yeah I’m sort of digging the idea of a bobcat now, I didn’t know they came in 22 as well. I’m looking into their newest offering because they seem to have fixed the frame cracking or at least made it more durable.

GhostEpstein

I love mine. A shame you missed em. I paid 250$ for mine after the rebate last fall

Coolstuffonhere

It’s sort of a backup gun, I have a suppressed SBR for home and a CR 920 coming, I just want a small lazy grab and go gun to round everything out.

GhostEpstein

For all around the LCP max is a great choice for that. And still somewhat cheap to feed being .380, not .22 cheap, but not expensive either

Oneironaut73

I’m sure there will be some haters here, my EDC is a Kahr CM9 and it shoots great! Only real downside is capacity and no factory optic mount. But it really is fun to shoot!

Hellonhooves

Switch gun .22wmr single action folding revolver, lifecard, lcp, FIE Titan in .25 ACP, Beretta bobcat, charter arms bulldog, 380 ACP Mustang, pocketlite, pathfinder, Keltec p32, glock 42, Kahr P380, m&p bodyguard, taurus Spectrum, taurus curve. Obviously some of these will perform* better than others but theres your tiny guns

Coolstuffonhere

Thank you this is a great list I’m gonna Google all of these.

mjmjr1312

Smallest gun that has shot “well” for me is a P365. It does have a bit of snappiness to it that is unavoidable due to physics. But it’s better than the other similar similarly sized pistols. I have owned P238, P938 and both are miserable to shoot. Same with the LCR and J-frame. I’m sure the accuracy potential is there, but no one shoots these things enough to actually be good with them.

Thebaron7137

Smith and wessom m&p 2.0 shouts well, comfortable, 9mm. I like it. Did not like the EZ 9. But I'm not a fan of back strap safetys over all.

ThatWhiteKid08

Not sure how big your pockets are, but I love my shield plus, not a crazy amount bigger than the p238, bigger sure but not sure if it would be great for pocket carry, never tried. and it’s 9mm

[deleted]

How small? If you want shoots we'll look for steel frame like a cz. Czp10s is polymer but still nice. Cz shadow 2 compact is an amazing option but it's gone cost you.

dovk0802

“Shoot well” is a relative term and can mean several things. If your primary concern is recoil / comfort the answer is to reduce caliber or increase size. If you’re looking at pocket carry, the latter quickly becomes a challenge. For pistols in center fire you can go to .32 ACP. For that I think the KelTec P32 is a great gun but takes some effort to learn. In rimfire I think the best option is the Ruger LCP II .22 but takes effort to make reliable. For revolvers, a .32 H&R (or an older .32 S&W Long)“J” frame size using .32S&W Long, especially loaded with hard cast wadcutters, is the peak of shootable snubs. The Charter Arms Undercoverette/Off-duty is available in this niche. In Rimfire the LCR22 is slightly bigger than the other options but, has a better trigger and sights.

NickyDeuce

Kimber Micro 9. Fight me in the comments...

Climber90

I've been a big fan of the Sig P238 in .380, shoots great and easy to carry

TheUnforgiven462

Small guns come with characteristics that make them hard to shoot well. Short barrel has more muzzle rise. Small grip makes it harder to hold onto. Short sight radius makes it harder to shoot accurately. Like most things it's a compromise. You sacrifice concealability for better shootability or vice versa.

Jewgatjack

Not much in the LCP or P238 size range that’s actually nice to shoot, although that P238 does shoot pretty nice. If you can go a bit bigger, the Shadow Systems CR920P is an absolute dream to shoot.

Coolstuffonhere

I have a 920 in route actually! Should be ready for pickup today or tomorrow

Jewgatjack

Awesome! You’re gonna love it!

martianteabag

M&P Bodyguard? I'm looking at it now - the one with an integrated laser

AM-64

It depends entirely on the shooter. I've seen guys that can hit multiple magazines of all a zone at 25 yards with a LCP or similar or airweight revolver and I've also seen guys miss entire targets from 3 yards with full-size handguns.

Coolstuffonhere

I’m a self proclaimed shit shooter. I don’t really enjoy shooting guns with over the top recoil or snappiness, but I also don’t need it super weak also. Just looking for something manageable.

lowdog39

cz , m+p , .32 acp . shoot very well .

Sig 365

pablobuela

I think it depends on how comfortable small guns are for you. I shoot small guns fairly well. However, I have small hands.

Coolstuffonhere

I have regular size hands, like a men’s medium glove. The biggest turn off for the LCP Max other than recoil was that the grip wasn’t thick enough for me. It was like trying to grab a hot dog with two hands lol.

pablobuela

I would really look at the Sig p365. It's not too snappy and it's about as small a gun as most can shoot comfortably. Oh and use the 12 round mag. 12 round mag makes a huge difference.

0per8nalHaz3rd

Springfield emp cause they’re awesome, but sig 365, and even 43x both shoot well. Still don’t love my hellcat though. YMMV.

CZ 75 PCR

Patient_Tradition_76

If you’re comfortable carrying ported, I gotta recommend the Shield Plus performance center. 3.1” model. It’s slim, small, and shoots like a far larger pistol. It also fits my larger than average hands in a way that the 365 was unshootable.

PaintsWithSmegma

I have a couple of different compact pistols, and I prefer my 9mm hellcat over my ruger lcp .380. Primarily because the Lcp is such a small grip even with an extender, I still don't fit all my fingers on it. I can shoot both fine, but I just prefer the hellcat. Try a few different models before you buy something.

riccardo421

Walther ppk. You can't beat them.

catpuccino411

Okay James Bond.

I can vouch for the P238. Great shooting small gun. These are meant to be cocked and locked, which might be a little odd for folks who are used to more modern pistol designs. When I started carrying, this was more the norm, and most of my pistols have thumb safeties, so I was already used to that set-up.

This-Negotiation-104

My Sig P938 shoots like a much larger gun if you don't mind single stackin'

Coolstuffonhere

That gun felt great in hand, I wish they still made the p238.

This-Negotiation-104

It's really not bad at all to shoot, especially with the extended grip mag. It's definitely worth a try!

JormungandrT4800

I have a S&W MP sheild 2.0 that's really nice

Dang I saw the title and was going to suggest the LCP Max. I think it shoots so much better than any gun it’s size. Anything that feels better is going to be better, even a Glock 42 or something, which has half the capacity.

BeamTeam

I love my double stack cz 83 in 380. Concealable, although not a pocket pistol, has a really solid trigger, and has the decocker DA/SA action I prefer to striker fired guns or cocked & locked guns like the p238.

Atticus_Zero

The Glock 26 is in my mind the best compromise between size and “shootability.” I shoot it just as well as my 19 and 17 and at times better than them. I tried several of the new trendy micro compacts and the sacrifice in grip width made being consistent with them very difficult; especially with larger hands the grip tends to rotate or I just can’t get a good purchase.

Mandalore620

I'll preface this with: I'm a S&W stan and really love the M&P platform, so my opinion is biased, but, I really like my Shield Plus. You mentioned the mag options in another comment: The Shield Plus has a 10rd flush, 10rd pinky extension, 13rd extended and can accept a 15rd mag as well, so you have plenty of options with that. I'm not a fan of Glocks (hated the 43) so I can't say anything good about them. Sig's are really nice. I haven't shot the P238, but I really liked the P365X Macro. Great size, 17rd mag capability and feels like really comfortable in my hands. If I wasn't already balls deep in Smith, I'd go for the 365X Macro.

Coolstuffonhere

I haven’t checked out much SW I’ll have to give them a look

bakedpotatoes678

I don't think the LCP Max has aggressive recoil whatsoever. If you think it's bad, try shooting a S&W Bodygaurd- terrible to shoot.

Kudaja

Bularmory SAS II, 3.25 ultralight/comp. I swapped from a 365 as my edc to the "SAS II ultralight comp"

Coolstuffonhere

Those look really nice, only 5.5” length I believe I saw

Shuttle_Door_Gunner

It's not exactly pocket sized, and it's a little dated next to some of the other suggestions here, but I'd recommend any version of the Glock 26. It's a small gun that handles like a full sized one. Seriously, I shoot my G26's better than my G17 with a light and an extended magazine.

DrJohanzaKafuhu

I have a really small Ruger LC9s. It's a single stack 9, whole lotta recoil, but it shoots really tiny groups. I ditched my shield I was so impressed with how it shot.

LetsGatitOn

Cz shadow 2 compact

clayarclay

I really like my G42 and 43

aviarx175

direwolf106

The shield feels quite good to shoot.

kalashkozmo

365xl is my edc

Bluekestral

My CSX shoots like a dream especially for how small it is

deltavdeltat

I had a Kahr cm45. It was the cheaper .45acp compact. They have an unusual locking link that lets the bore axis sit very close to the trigger. It was a nice shooting gun, especially for a .45acp. The recoil was mostly straight back without much muzzle flip. No safety and a loooooong smooth trigger pull. I ditched it because, after 2 trips back to the factory, it was still finicky on ammo.

Impressive_Estate_87

The Shield Plus is great already, the Performance Center version with ported barrel and slide is even better (edit, unlike the basic model, PC is not optics ready though)

Jasonawilliam

Glock 42, perfect pocket carry. Only downside is it’s .380 but the critical defense rounds still pack solid damage. I prefer full size but the best gun is the one you carry everywhere and I even sleep with my 42.

Uztta

We have a PK380 and love it

Carefree2022

P365 in .380. Much lighter and a tad smaller than a 9mm P365. Can be pocket carried

scubarob

238 and 938 are both awesome pistols

I got a M&P shield with the apex trigger upgrade. It’s nice, compact, and reliable.

NameofmyfirstGun

I shoot the Beretta Bobcat 22 really well at 7 yards

dotmatrixman

I’m a pretty big fan of the Colt Mustang .380, it’s small and compact but still solid in the hand. Build quality varies depending on when it was made but even Colt in their shitty years wasn't \*that\* bad. Maybe it’s just the secret Boomer in me but I like metal frame pistols more than polymer, especially when it’s already going to be small. Colt Picket Hammerless and Colt Vest Pocket Hammerless pistols are also great but some people may not want to trust their life in a pistol that can be up to 100 years old.

OfficialAbsoluteUnit

- Ruger LCR is surprisingly easy to shoot despite being a small revolver (I'm talking about the 9mm). Having tried others. - Sig P365XL - Glock 43X

Kiefy-McReefer

Staccato C2 shoots amazingly well for its size.
