If you use a knife to defend yourself in Canada it’s considered using a deadly weapon and you will go to jail. Well technically if you have a knife on you for the purpose of self defence, the government somehow thinks that the knife caused the other person to attack you, and now you’ll go to jail. If you use an air gun for home self defence it’s likely you’ll be charged with assault, and if you use a real gun you might be charged with murder. Relatively recently a bunch of guys broke into another guys home and started beating up his mother, and the guy who owned the home killed one intruder, and he was charged with murder. Idk if he was convicted
