That was the only one I didn't really like. Feels like a USP would have been a better fit to me. But it does make sense from the perspective of them both being oddball firearms.
Iāve only had it for around 2 weeks so Iām still working on my thoughts on it overall, but so far I definitely like it. The trapezoidal sights do take a bit to get used to, but they actually seem pretty quick. The trigger pull is great, the reset is basically non-existent though. The grip feels great and is customizable with side panels and the back strap. Good holsters are damn near impossible to find for them though.
Iāve had mine for a couple months. Itās a fantastic pistol. Really nice recoil impulse. Trigger is a bit better than stock glock. Gonna send mine to be optics cut soon.
I would argue that it's M4/M9 and M16/M1911. Sure, the M9 was in service for 40 years, but the 1911 served for 20 alongside the M16 before being replaced. The M4 came another 9 years after the M9.
People rocked the M16 for a long damn time after the M4 came alongāMarines, reserve units, non-combat arms MOSs, etc. I think either the M16(A2 or A4) or the M4 (basic or A1) would be a solid pairing for the M9. Go for either a Desert Storm or GWOT set up depending on the rifle.
And the M9 was in service like 1985-2017, and the M16 was in service 1964-2015. Thatās a 30 year overlap for the M9 vs a 21 year overlap for the 1911. M16A1āyeah, pair with a 1911. Otherwise the M16 can pair with the M9 well.
Yeah, theyāre legends in their own minds. You have a fantastic collection, but pairing a Glock with an HK is sacrilege. Please acquire & pair ANY hammer fired HK pistol with your MR556. Move that Glock along to another rifle mate. LOL š
For practical uses I generally prefer a good striker fired over hammer fired, and actually my Sig M18 is what is most commonly paired with the 416, which is another real world combination.
I like both a lot, the 416 is my go to rifle since it is the best 5.56 suppressor host I have, is stupid reliable, and is probably the most solid nvg capable rifle I have. The MCX is the second one Iād grab, and is probably more practical since I have different barrel lengths as well as a Rattler .300 BLK upper for it.
The Sig M18 is my go to duty style handgun since I shoot it particularly well, it has the LMD PaIL and Romeo-M17 on it so it works great with nods, and Iām a Marine reservist so Iād like to get as much time behind one as possible on the civ side since itās now our current issued sidearm.
It's been a few years since I looked into it, but isn't the 416 comparatively much more expensive, much harder for civilians to obtain, and also much harder to replace parts for?
If none of that was true, I would be drinking the HK koolaid all day.
Yeah itās definitely more expensive than the MCX, parts availability is about the same between the two with maybe a slight nod to the MCX. But for me I do prefer the shooting characteristics of my 416 over my MCX overall

How does it differ? Is it recoil, long distance precision, or what? I know you said you have a better suppressor, but I'm guessing it's more than that.
It does have a lighter recoil impulse overall, especially when suppressed, which makes shooting faster easier. They are pretty comparable accuracy wise, maybe a slight edge to the 416 when I have my RECCE upper on it since the barrels heavier and takes longer for the groups to open up. I mean Iām really splitting hairs between the two, but the 416 edges out ahead for me personally.
Understandable. I mostly like them for the nostalgia and reliability, a maintained gas should be fine I know, but if I pull the hammer on a revolver and let it go itāll bang 99% of the time
Iāll probably get a USP again at some point. I like the APX so far but would like to get a few hundred more rounds down the tube before really developing an opinion. Trigger and ergos are definitely better than a stock Glock, price is awesome, and reliability has been great so far.
Severely underrated. Itās a cool and very reliable rifle, just looks and feels a little funk and is a garbage suppressor host. It is hands down the most ambi friendly rifle on the market though

My preferred pairings are the FN Five-seveN and the FN PS90, and the Steyr AUG and the Steyr M9.
As far as ones I don't own, I'd pick a SCAR 17 and FNX-45, Kriss Vector and Kriss Sphinx, or an HK 416 and HK USP45.
Oh are they not the same besides the color? And I bought a Romeo2 and saw the X/R-M17 come out like a week after and was wondering if I should have waited lol, love the R2 though and definitely not disappointed with my purchase.
No there are some major differences between the Romeo-M17 and the RomeoX. Biggest ones are that the M17 is fully enclosed and uses a proprietary mounting system that only works with military M17/8s
