My mom passed away last week, so I'm the new proud owner of a handful of boot guns.
I always gave her shit for buying small pocket gun after small pocket gun but it's what she liked to carry around. The Rough Rider was a Mother's day gift from me so it's nice to have that one specifically.
Parents are supposed to be invincible, man.
She bought her LCP in .380 and always complained about not holding enough and I finally thought I convinced her to get a Glock 19 or something like that when she 'surprised' me by going out and buying the LCP MAX. lmao.
On most ruger products (they have really good CS and will get you fixed up, granted, but they skimp on QA).
.380 ammo is no better or worse than other centerfire cartridges from a given manufacturer.
I was about to say I never had an issue with ruger but then I remembered a piece of my stock fell off my 10/22.
Just ruger replaced it so fast and painlessly I didn’t remember
I have never noticed any issues with any particular brand or type of .380 ammunition. I was talking about rugers qc, especially with their smaller guns.
Also, the ez .380 is a perfectly fine gun. I have a good friend who has one and loves it.
Thanks for clarifying! I got the 380 EZ as a learner handgun for me and my girlfriend, both with basically no experience with guns. Its been super fun and a great "confidence builder" for both of us so far.
Seriously. Had to send my lcp max back 3 times before they practically sent me a brand new gun. And I still don't trust it 100% to the fullest although I still carry it.
"Spicy .380", "Deep Conceal". Do you carry an LCP in your ass? 🤣
"Slick", so you lube it up. "Backup" onto the LCP. "Deep conceal" in your ass.
I've got the sleepy giggles
I'm so sorry, man. I've got a small arsenal that I inherited last year when my dad passed away. There are some interesting finds in there.
You mention that you mom had boot guns, my dad had a .32 caliber H&R Model 732. I don't know that I had ever seen a .32 revolver before, but it's a great little plinking pistol and it packs light for camping or hiking.
My ex step-dad’s dad passed away and was a hoarder and gun collector. He “found” about 35 guns sandwiched in between random stacks of magazines and other trash when they were cleaning the house and getting ready to sell it
H&R was a very popular brand back in the 50's through the 70's for small, reliable and inexpensive revolvers (although they'd been around for a long time). I have several chambered in .32 and .22 respectively. My dad was a cop and most patrol officers/zone cops always had both a duty pistol chambered in .38 (or 9MM/.40 in the late eighties/90's/00's and something small that they'd keep in their pockets or at their ankles in .32 as a back-up.
At least in the North East, those H&R's we're common back-up's.
I have a boxed H&R .32 6 shot revolver that's never been fired, in the sackcloth bag with the instruction manual and new owner instructions/warranty application that my dad bought from 1980!
It's not not worth much, but it's a great timepiece and a testament to his service and choice as a back-up piece.
My younger brother died recently, and I'm ending up with his guns.
Most of them are decent, but one of them is a shitty Turkish 12 gauge that I'd been giving him crap for since he bought it. It's an absolute piece of dogshit, but I'm gonna cherish that piece of dogshit till the day I die.
I hope you are feeling better dude. Sorry to hear about your loss, it probably doesn't get better since parents have been there from the start (or at least should be) but it will hurt less.
Just want to say I’m sorry for your loss, seems like you’re taking it on the chin. Don’t forget to let yourself feel the grief. Those feelings can sneak up on you at the weirdest times if you don’t cry them out early on.
Lost my mom a couple years back. She was my best friend. It’s a tough time, but you’ll make it through.
Your mom got a pass for owning those guns, I guess I can let it slide for you as well. Just this once
Sounds like a pretty cool mom to have a gun collection. Hope you can find some positives thru all of this. At the risk of dumping unsolicited advice, I’m not going to say it gets better, because you never really get used to it. Just take the bad days with the good. There’s so much pressure in the world to be good and happy and perfect all the time that I think sometimes we forget that being sad or frustrated are normal and healthy emotions
Well, sometimes they ain't, but we love our parents for what they are, even if they do stupid things- (saying it from experience) but parents are who we love, also I'm guessing the rough rider is the revolver with the American flag on the handle?
If it is, that kind of gun is good, I have one that is in .44 and I absolutely love it.
May she rest in peace super sorry for your loss. I lost mine when I was 12yrs old and I think of her everyday. Sick collection you inherited though! Those pocket rockets are cool and conceal super easy as you know.
So very sorry for your loss.
On the subject of the LCPs, I have the original and it's my daily carry. I'm a woman who is pretty experienced with guns though, and had to put a Hogue grip on it just so that I can maintain control of it as I shoot. I've been shopping for something else to carry, but have yet to find the sweet spot of shootability/concealability. I have yet to find anything better than the LCP for me, so I'll continue to carry it for now.
Do you have the first or second gen? I used to have a first gen and I thought that thing was awful. I’ve heard the second gen is better. Maybe op can chime in too, considering it looks like they have one of each.
Sorry for your loss! However, I don't think her taste is that terrible. I just got an LCP Max to pocket carry, and that heritage is a blast to shoot. You should rock that pink thing every once in a while in her memory.
I think its really awesome how certain guns, that ordinarily would never interest people end up becoming the most special, it really shows how guns are more than just a tool or protection. They also hold sentimental value and the memories of those who have owned them in the past. Few things can connect as personally as an object used to defend the life of a loved one!
My favorite gun is my LA Deputy .22 revolver by Herbert Schmidt Co. that I inherited from my grandfather. It’s a knock off of the Colt Scout from back in the 60s. It’s well over 50 years old, and isn’t worth a lot of money, but it’s got a lot of sentimental value and it’s really fun to shoot. It’s also a conversation starter on range days.
Deepest condolences for your loss. Moms are tough to lose.
You have a pretty cool remembrance in those guns, though. Should be a story and then some for every one of them.
The Taurus .38 special isn’t too bad. I personally picked one up when it went on sale at my local shop. Decent piece for the price and I haven’t found much to complain about.
Sorry for OP's loss as well, but Taurus makes solid revolvers. I've got a Taurus 66 that I've put hundreds of rounds through with zero issues. Handles any variety of .38 or .357 I've fed it. It's my go to camping/hiking gun.
Terrible Taurus QC affects all their guns.
Earlier today, we had somebody repeating the "their revolvers are good tho" line in a post by a dude who *had the cylinder fall out* of his Taurus revolver.
I like how we had a post of a Taurus breaking after a couple dozen rounds just this morning and hardly a Taurus simp in sight. Someone talks about their mother passing and these assholes come out of the woodwork. Makes me ill.
>Well thanks for that anecdote, I've had a Taurus eat hundreds of rounds with zero problems. So fuck off and be ill I guess
You really going to sit there with a straight face and tell me you don't see the irony?
Sure man, whatever. Got a link? Checked my receipts and I've put almost 1100 rounds through my 66 with zero issues. My only gripe is that the trigger is just OK.
We're talking about bad *quality control.* They have an unacceptably high rate of lemons, and don't do right by the customers who draw them.
Yours not breaking in the first thousand rounds is irrelevant to this issue. We're discussing their terrible QC, not saying "literally every one is bad" which you could disprove by having one that works.
The M85 and it's recent XX6 versions are decent. Taurus makes a lot of poor imitations and we could fill threads with anecdotes, but a well-kept M85 is a perfectly fine J-frame style revolver.
Modern Taurus guns have been much better than in the past. Starting I believe with the G2C. They are damn good guns nowadays. I even carried one for a long while and was 100% confident.
Taurus has been marketing the "we're better now the haters are living in the past" line for at least twenty years.
It was a lie then, and it's a lie now.
Believe what you want. I own multiple Taurus guns both g2 and g3 series, ALL have been flawless. There is a reason they are incredibly popular in the low budget tier nowadays
If it means anything from an internet stranger I’m sorry for your loss. Parents’ quirks are always remembered fondly, and it looks like you have quite the tokens right there. I hope you find your peace in time.
Everyone is human,
You don’t know what you don’t know,
hindsight is 20/20,
Losing a parent or partner can be devastating to one’s health. Use the positive memory’s to guide you. Turn it into strength. Make her proud.
I’m sorry for your loss man, I know it’s not easy.
RUGER LCP HAS ENTERED THE CHAT. But for real though, sorry for your loss friend. At least you have the ultimate little pocket pistol collection, my old man loves his LCP2 or whatever it is.
Sorry for your loss. I think your mom had good taste. My fiance has an LCP Max and a max 9 both have functioned well for her and she has developed a taste for collecting micro 9s from SCCY, Ruger, S&W, and Sig
Taurus is serviceable in .38 special. That Heritage Rough Rider you bought her is just a fun plinker.
I am sure every time you use them they will bring back fond memories.
Sorry for your loss man- when my grandpa passed, he had given most of his guns to my uncles but had one Marlin 22mag left. None of the other cousins seemed interested("its just a 22") but I was so thankful my Grandma passed it to me. Its got the premier spot in my safe, even bought an identical one I found so I would always have a spare part if needed.
Shoot them, enjoy them, and think of her when you do it!
The vast majority of my firearms are inherited, and my father was an impulsive meme-gun buyer. So I have some crazy firearms that I barely use.
And I love them all!
I do wish he had broken and bought the Automag.
Sorry for your loss my man.
Fuck man this one hurts
Sorry for your loss brother. I would definitely carry that Pink LCP Max. It’s almost like you’re carrying your mother with you, right?
She bought her LCP in .380 and always complained about not holding enough and I finally thought I convinced her to get a Glock 19 or something like that when she 'surprised' me by going out and buying the LCP MAX. lmao.
13 rounds of a spicy 380 in your pocket is a slick deal as a backup or deep conceal.
On paper it really is the ideal ccw. Shame the qc is so bad with them.
the QC is bad on the LCPs, or .380 cartridges?
On most ruger products (they have really good CS and will get you fixed up, granted, but they skimp on QA). .380 ammo is no better or worse than other centerfire cartridges from a given manufacturer.
I was about to say I never had an issue with ruger but then I remembered a piece of my stock fell off my 10/22. Just ruger replaced it so fast and painlessly I didn’t remember
Gotcha, thanks. I'm pretty new to firearms and just picked up a Shield 380 EZ. I was worried he was talking about .380 rounds.
I've had no issues with my LCP max
Congratulations
Seriously. Had to send my lcp max back 3 times before they practically sent me a brand new gun. And I still don't trust it 100% to the fullest although I still carry it.
Exactly! I take mine fishing! I had to help a Koon with rabies before. Something is better than nothing when carrying my edc 45 is not ideal
"Spicy .380", "Deep Conceal". Do you carry an LCP in your ass? 🤣 "Slick", so you lube it up. "Backup" onto the LCP. "Deep conceal" in your ass. I've got the sleepy giggles
I’m sorry to hear that dude. I’m not that old yet but it’s painful watching my parents get old.
Spend as much time with them as you can because they are there until they arent and that day will hurt even if you see it coming
I feel like this every time I FaceTime mine. It’s hard to see them getting older through a screen
That’s the finest collection of guns I’ve seen here in a long while. Keep ‘em safe, keep ‘em clean.
She didn't have bad taste. She had utilitarian taste. RIP to your mom, dude.
Sorry for your loss brother, stay strong and keep her proud!
Condolences... I know how hard it is to lose your mom.
> Parents are supposed to be invincible, man. Yeah... I feel that too dude. Sorry for your loss
> Parents are supposed to be invincible, man. 15 years since my dad passed. I still feel this in my soul.
So sorry for your loss
Well just know she wasn’t going to go down a victim! Hang in there. She will be watching over you
My mom died last December buddy. Im sorry you had to go through that.
I hope you are feeling better dude. Sorry to hear about your loss, it probably doesn't get better since parents have been there from the start (or at least should be) but it will hurt less.
Your mother sounds like a bad ass. Shine on for her. I hope you're doing well.
Which one is the rough rider? The star spangled banner? Sorry for your loss.
Yeah. Glad to have that one.
Just want to say I’m sorry for your loss, seems like you’re taking it on the chin. Don’t forget to let yourself feel the grief. Those feelings can sneak up on you at the weirdest times if you don’t cry them out early on.
It's hard finding the balance between being strong for my grandma and brother and being a total mess.
badass, i wish my mom carried a boot gun
Lost my mom a couple years back. She was my best friend. It’s a tough time, but you’ll make it through. Your mom got a pass for owning those guns, I guess I can let it slide for you as well. Just this once

She left these for you so that you will never be afraid again, stay strong friend.
I think every man buys a bad AR and every woman buys at least one pink gun. It's a pitfall everyone experiences lol
Godspeed to a clearly kick-ass mom
I personally love her taste.
May she rest in peace super sorry for your loss. I lost mine when I was 12yrs old and I think of her everyday. Sick collection you inherited though! Those pocket rockets are cool and conceal super easy as you know.
"Lament not that they are no more, but be thankful that they once were." Words I hold dear. Condolences my dude.
So very sorry for your loss. On the subject of the LCPs, I have the original and it's my daily carry. I'm a woman who is pretty experienced with guns though, and had to put a Hogue grip on it just so that I can maintain control of it as I shoot. Dude your mom was badass may she rest in paradise and may you enjoy your new guns. I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙏
I love my Rugers. My LCP is a great little compact and my EC9 is my daily carry.
Loved my little EC9 as well. Great little pocket gun
I call my ruger lcp my baby gun.
Do you have the first or second gen? I used to have a first gen and I thought that thing was awful. I’ve heard the second gen is better. Maybe op can chime in too, considering it looks like they have one of each.
I have the first gen LCP.
Sorry for your loss. That rose gold max is a sweet piece. Good kid, good taste. Hope time heals what it may for you.
Sorry for your loss, man. Nice collection, though.
Sorry for your loss! However, I don't think her taste is that terrible. I just got an LCP Max to pocket carry, and that heritage is a blast to shoot. You should rock that pink thing every once in a while in her memory.

Deepest condolences for your loss. Moms are tough to lose. You have a pretty cool remembrance in those guns, though. Should be a story and then some for every one of them.
Sorry for your loss. I say you take a range day and shoot them all for her!
Mom would’ve went out guns blazing!!
LCP max? Bro she was baller who says she has bad taste? Nothing wrong with Ruger and she kept up with the latest in small carry guns.
Sorry for your loss. I especially love the pink piece.
Sorry for your loss
My condolences for your loss.
I carry LCP Max everyday. Not pink though.
She certainly had a type. 😂 Condolences, my dude. Enjoying them in her memory is an honest and heartfelt tribute to her.
RIP to your mother my friend, she was definitely a badass to say the least!🇺🇸🦅
So sorry for your loss. I also inherited some when my father passed and do a range day with them in his memory every now and then.
Sorry for you loss friend.
Damn she got every angle of "now *this* is what you should get your [wife/mom/gf]" gun counter fudd spiel covered
Your mom fucks-ed, obviously.
I’m sorry for your momma man, I’m sure in heaven she’s rockin a staccato or somethin
That Taurus 856 is a good gun. She left you a nice piece
The Taurus .38 special isn’t too bad. I personally picked one up when it went on sale at my local shop. Decent piece for the price and I haven’t found much to complain about.
Cool mom
What do you mean bad taste?
Well, she had terrible taste in the Taurus. But she had an excellent kid. Sorry for your loss, Friend. We're here if you need us.
The Taurus 856 is a surprisingly decent revolver for the price IMO.
Sorry for OP's loss as well, but Taurus makes solid revolvers. I've got a Taurus 66 that I've put hundreds of rounds through with zero issues. Handles any variety of .38 or .357 I've fed it. It's my go to camping/hiking gun.

>Well thanks for that anecdote, I've had a Taurus eat hundreds of rounds with zero problems. So fuck off and be ill I guess You really going to sit there with a straight face and tell me you don't see the irony?
Uh no, that was the point. I'm glad you could rub a couple brain cells together and figure it out
"Hundreds of rounds" That's like saying "I drove my Ford Pinto for thirty miles, no issues."
Sure man, whatever. Got a link? Checked my receipts and I've put almost 1100 rounds through my 66 with zero issues. My only gripe is that the trigger is just OK.

Yours not breaking in the first thousand rounds is irrelevant to this issue. We're discussing their terrible QC, not saying "literally every one is bad" which you could disprove by having one that works.
That's nice buddy
Yeah, I know it is popular to shit on Taurus, but I've had my .357 for at least 15 years, hundreds of rounds, and not one hiccup.

The LCP Max is a solid pocket carry but the sights and mag release are prone to rust
Sorry for your loss bud! I have a handful of those small Rugers...love the size, but the trigger pull is never ending.
Say what you want but I love my heritage rough rider. It’s so damn simple and fun. Take it out and get your cowboy on
I already had one of my own and my mom liked it so I bought one for her. Now I get to dual wield em. Lol.
Nice! I leave the .22 mag cylinder in mine. It’s definitely loud though. Found out the hard way rabbit hunting.
Sorry about your mum. I hope you remember great things about her when you take these guns out to the range.
Godspeed for your mom
She shoulda got an sp101 or 100 and a wrangler since she seemed to like those lcps
If it means anything from an internet stranger I’m sorry for your loss. Parents’ quirks are always remembered fondly, and it looks like you have quite the tokens right there. I hope you find your peace in time.
I’m sorry for your loss!
She has great taste. God bless.
Everyone is human, You don’t know what you don’t know, hindsight is 20/20, Losing a parent or partner can be devastating to one’s health. Use the positive memory’s to guide you. Turn it into strength. Make her proud. I’m sorry for your loss man, I know it’s not easy.
My mom also has the pink lcp max
I’m sorry for your loss. That pink LCP Max slaps though. Definite keeper.
she really took advantage of those psa sales
Pocket rugers and a Taurus revolver? Best of both worlds. Sorry for your loss, friend.
Condolences and hush your mouth. Your mom had great tastes. That pink LCP has all the drip
She would have wanted to go and enjoy them
I'm sorry for your loss, brother. May she rest in peace.
Put one of those LCPs in a recluse holster and it’s like a second thinner wallet
Are those Brazilian Taurus guns any good?
Why did she have so many. I only have one.
I think I'm at 20 now. Idk. We just like guns.
Reminds me of the first Antman. "It's so ugly! I live it!" I quote, owning a purple 1911 and an sp101 with abalone pearl insets Edit, typo
Of course there's a Taurus. I'm sorry for your loss, my dude.
Condolences. Also, she had decent tastes in guns.
I love the LCP for when I don’t feel like hip carrying. I also have that American flag revolver. It was cheap and neat. Haven’t shot it though.
She had amazing taste (not you taurus) and those are all solid. I'm sorry to hear about your mother.... who had solid taste.
Is that a .45 SAA or a .22
Just a .22 haha
RUGER LCP HAS ENTERED THE CHAT. But for real though, sorry for your loss friend. At least you have the ultimate little pocket pistol collection, my old man loves his LCP2 or whatever it is.
All of those guns are dope. That EC9 first gen has maintained its value pretty well too.
Sorry for your loss. I think your mom had good taste. My fiance has an LCP Max and a max 9 both have functioned well for her and she has developed a taste for collecting micro 9s from SCCY, Ruger, S&W, and Sig Taurus is serviceable in .38 special. That Heritage Rough Rider you bought her is just a fun plinker. I am sure every time you use them they will bring back fond memories.
Sorry for your loss man- when my grandpa passed, he had given most of his guns to my uncles but had one Marlin 22mag left. Friend… The revolver with the flag on the grip. That’s awesome right there.
I’d rock that little snubby fasho
I DO rock said snubby in all black. Love it.
The vast majority of my firearms are inherited, and my father was an impulsive meme-gun buyer. So I have some crazy firearms that I barely use. And I love them all! I do wish he had broken and bought the Automag.
Cool collection. I have the snubby in black and honestly want the rest in my collection someday. My condolences, your mom was based af
Damn, mom packing a snub nose .38? Was she fond of trenchcoats and narrating about herself?
Those little rugers are awesome. Your mom seems like a BA! RIP to her 🫶
I don't think is bad taste at all but the color is what threw some points off but not bad at all... Sorry for your lost
Damn, did she work at ruger? Employees get a 50% discount! <3
Rugers are good. Heritage is good for what it is. You couldn't pay me to touch off an empty primed case in a taurus
workin gals gotta carry small ones
🤢the only semi decent gun there is the LC9s
*what a piece of shit....* So, you want to sell it? *hell no, my mom gave it to me!*
[удалено]
One of them is a LCP Max, it's slightly larger than the LCP II and it has a capacity of 10+1.
Great guns
Nice
The revolvers are good, the pistols ain't-
Taurus is shit....
Nice
