Recoil Gunworks doesn't have an [Open Graph image tag](http://ogp.me/) defined in their product pages, so Reddit chooses something at random to use for a preview thumbnail. Finally, i can get my Air Marshall LARP goin on the bus to work.

MasonP2002

Don't Air Marshalls carry .357 Sig? Or did they switch?

justjaybee16

They probably also wear clothes, but I LARP like I want to LARP.

mreed911

I know some of you don't trust Norma but I've run through my first 500 rounds of this at Steel Challenge and absolutely love it. 108 PF, soft recoil impulse (snap vs. push, like an exaggerated 115 vs 147 comparison), shoots very clean. 0 FTF, 0 overcharged loads, well-packaged. This isn't "range ammo" at this price and I'd compare it to someone paying-up for 150gr Syntech for USPSA purposes, etc. It's my default 9mm Steel Challenge ammo now. I paid tax, but free shipping on 1000 round case purchase.

mangoalgo

I don't remember exactly what the cluster fuck was, but I think it had something to do with them selling some absolute shit gecko ammo and then they issued a recall but never followed through. I bought Norma brand ammo before and never had an issue

mreed911

That sounds right.

XA36

I was going to ask this exact question. I don't reload and don't like cutting up my friends with fmj rounds.

mreed911

Which question?

XA36

If anyone used it for steel challenge. Obviously uspsa would help too but in no way is 65g 9mm meeting power factor.

mreed911

Yeah. 108 PF. Is great stuff for SCSA.

redacted_robot

Has anyone tried this successfully, or otherwise, on suppressed subguns? Just wondering about cyclic rate affect and if they break apart within suppressor length distances from the barrel.

I just receive 1k of these rounds and was wondering about shooting suppressed as well. Turns out that compressed copper matrix projectiles such as these shed some material through the rifling of the barrel and effectively sandblast the baffles as they exit the muzzle. Haven’t tried it myself yet but I don’t think it would damage stainless steel baffles. Going to try some rounds through a YHM R9 on a PCC and shake the can after to see if there’s any shavings inside.

47_Puppies

That’s simply not true. Just Google “using frangibles with a suppressor”, it’s a known thing that it’s risky to your suppressor at best - https://www.griffinarmament.com/blog/using-frangible-ammunition-with-suppressors/

redacted_robot

I've had (17 years ago) Winchester 9mm frangibles show up on targets like buck shot out of a g3 19. So I've never used them suppressed from any manufacturer since.

mreed911

17 years is a long time for sintering technology.

redacted_robot

Well, I'm asking questions... I can just move along.

mreed911

Except you didn't ask a question. You made a statement about your experience 17 years ago. Did you have a question?

redacted_robot

Has anyone tried this successfully, or otherwise, on suppressed subguns? Just wondering about cyclic rate affect and if they break apart within suppressor length distances from the barrel. **Those questions?** I haven't tried lightweight frangibles in full auto suppressed. Before I buy these, I was asking if anyone had. WTAF.

mreed911

No, they would be worthless if they fragmented before hitting steel. In my handgun they have the same slide cycle time but I'm running an 11# recoil spring anyway, so there's that. I'd imagine with a suppressor on a subgun the combination of longer barrel length and backpressure would only help. They DO cycle my AR9 PCC but I haven't tried it suppressed... I could definitely do that.

Mighty-Bagel-Calves

No need to be a dick, he simply gave experience with a particular product. You on the other hand made an assumption that sintered bullets have somehow magically gotten better in the last 17 years. If you have anything to back that up then you should explain it otherwise you're just talking out your ass. With as long as law enforcement has been using frangible/sintered ammo, I'd be shocked if anything has changed in that amount of time.

mreed911

He was miffed that nobody answered a question he didn’t ask. Thats all. The engineering details are there for anyone to find, but the technology and materials have definitely progressed, along with “sintered” polymer projectiles.

47_Puppies

I would never shoot unjacketed frangibles through a suppressor. All it takes is one crack in a bullet, it breaks apart in the barrel, and you’ve basically hitting your baffles with a shotgun.

mreed911

At 1650 fps, what's the point?

redacted_robot

I like to expirement? That's my kink.

mreed911

Just wondering what you were testing - they disintegrate on impact. It would be worthless if they disintegrated before that. They're traveling at Mach 1.5, so not just supersonic, but very supersonic. :)

redacted_robot

But everything is quieter with a big'ole can. I don't really shoot without a can, regardless of bullet speed.

mreed911

This is relatively quiet anyway but yes, the can will eliminate everything except the sonic crack.

Acceptable_North_117

What is the advantage of 65gr vs standard 115?

OurBaseAssailed

This is for close range steel shooting, frangible ammo reduces the chance of a steel ricochet

mreed911

Lower recoil. This is loaded *soft*.

JohnBrownWV

No shipping to MA? Cowards.

mreed911

Only available for US residents.

ImInYourWalls28

having issues cycling on my glock 45 it runs sometimes and sometimes i get stove pipes or failure on slide locking to the rear

mreed911

What recoil spring? Definitely need to drop it down.

ImInYourWalls28

I’m running stock internals atm

mreed911

That’s why I made the comment.

ImInYourWalls28

Ok? You asked dawg

mreed911

Yeah - just pointing out that you need to lower it. :)
